I tried to use this company to deliver rock for a landscaping project. After numerous attempts to contact the owner I was never able to have my materials delivered. In one conversation the owner had forgot I had placed an order with him even though he had my payment information and I had given him one week notice with my project deadline. When I attempted to set up a delivery date/time the owner said he did not do times, and he would call me when he was going to deliver the rock. This company has no customer service or consistency, your business will not be appreciated here and you will be forgotten.Update: a week after posting this the owner called me stating he was on his way with my gravel after a week of no contact. I stated that I went with another company since he never followed up with me and he denied ever speaking to me on the phone. Even though he had my ticket information and my payment information which HE CHARGED. He even had the audacity to say he wasn’t going to waste his time with me anymore. I am still disputing charges with my bank. Do not use this place. He has no customer service or people skills.
Pitchfork is the BEST! Ive bought topsoil, compost, mulch, garden soil.... yards and yards over the years. This is absolutely the best ever. Picked up 2 yards last Thurs & 2 yards Sunday (THANK YOU for having Sunday hours!). No tilling needed, its light & fluffy, and Im thrilled! Mark is a master loader, too - no mess on the truck bumper, etc. Many thanks, Mark. You have a stellar product! It was well worth the drive.
Mark at Pitchfork Landscaping help us out so much by staying open late on a Sunday so that we could get the mulch for out kids play set! Good products, outstanding service, lowest price out of all the places I called! Definitely recommend and will be back!
Ladies.... Why do so many men think landscaping is women s work? Similar to the Kitchen! .:) I know not ALL men think this way, but many do! So, I really did appreciate Pitchfork Landscaping helping me get all my supplies to the yard and in the right location, No more feeling like a pack mule I went to their nursery, picked out all the supplies i needed including the cleanest organic dirt i have ever seen! THANK YOU PITCHFORK!
The bucket they use is not a yard it is 3/4 yard. Ripp off
Horrible company. Don’t use them and if you do make sure you have enough to cover their mistakes x 2. First off they tried to rip me off by overcharging me $100- which they claimed was a mistake. I accepted their lame excuse and was very kind about it. I had understood they were going to credit me back the $100- instead they claim they credited back the full amount which I still have not received and then tried to charge the correct amount again which would then be double the charge plus $100- coming out. My card didn’t have that amount available because I am on a budget and had carefully planned out my finances for this project. So then they asked if I had another card or a check, so I said I would give them a check expecting that they would cash it when the credit was posted. At that point they tried to shame me saying so you mean to tell me you don’t have any way to pay for this order? We are going to have to bring the materials back. They’re the ones who made the error and inconvenienced me, they still have my money plus the $100- overcharge and they should have made it right, but instead I’m out the money I budgeted for my project plus the additional $100- for however long it takes for them to refund it if in fact they did refund it. I don’t trust that they did and may have to report them as a fraud.
Do NOT waste your time. Begged them for business. Wasted a lot of time trying to get some top soil. Note on the door that said to call Mark for help or Teresa. Spoke with Teresa one time during business hours on Saturday and she acted surprised that no one was there. Let her know when I would be by the next day when SOMEBODY might be able to help me (gave her an exact time). No one was there on Sunday and nobody picked up my multiple phone calls during business hours. Why run a business if no one is there to operate it? What’s really going on there except for missing out on thousands? Went to Carson’s and got what I needed. I guess if you want free gravel, soil, or mulch, just go to Pitchfork because no one is there.
Very nice people and they have organic soil!!!
Ive never bought from this individual, but when I tried to ask questions about his bulk amended topsoil (i.e. what was the percentage of amendment?) he said he couldnt tell me because his competitors were trying to copy him and hed let too much information go already.
Got me fixed up for base rock when everyone else was closed.
I just had some major gravel beds done, Mark and Ryan did an outstanding job, my landscape looks brand new. These are hardworking guys and are very detailed minded. I highly recommend Pitchfork for any of your landscape needs. They do great work!!
Just picked up 2 yards of gravel, very quick easy and courteous . Will be back again!
I drive a tow truck for a living, I missed my turn trying to go to the collision center next door as I have never been there and it was over a blind hill. Thought the next drive might go back to it but when I pulled in it didn’t look like it did so I tried to turn around, before I could even get started the owner came out cussing and yelling at me (I won’t even go into details) and made me back my big flatbed truck out into a blind hill. It was a pure accident I pulled in there and regret it terribly. I wouldn’t recommend him based on his attitude, and after reading other reviews it sounds like they have received the same treatment.
We paid for top soil and he intentionally gave us fill dirt with rocks. The owner was also on the phone rolling his eyes being incredibly rude to a customer on the phone. I’ve never given a bad review in my life but every time I look at the over priced fill dirt (not top soil) in my garden I think of our bad experience. I would never recommend this place and honestly don’t think he will be able to stay in business having such bad character.
Super helpful and friendly. Great garden soil I picked up.
I went to pitchfork and picked up a load of gravel and some landscape fabric. The owner was enthusiastic and quite nice to me. I realized I needed more material so I sent my wife back to get another load and more fabric. I sent her with my initial ticket so that she would know what to get. When she arrived she handed the owner the ticket to show him what I needed and he realized that his lady at the counter forgot to charge me for the fabric the first time. He then yelled at his staff member using profanity and even told my wife that I had knowingly tried to cheat him. Why would I send her back with the ticket if that were true. Totally unprofessional. Over 10 bucks worth of landscape fabric he lost a customer forever. I now go to McMullan. I think he seems like very hard worker and an enthusiastic guy but he apparently has a temper. I gave him two stars instead of one since he was quite nice to me. But dont accuse your customers of trying to cheat you. BTW. My wife paid for the undercharged item when she paid for the second round of supplies. If I had noticed it the first time, I would have pointed out the error and payed for the item.
Bought a yard of fill dirt and a yard of top soil to be delivered to job site. Charged me two delivery fees because its two different products. Showed up on the same truck and dumped together 😂. The best part was the quantity. Maybe a yard of material between the two. Went to hardware store right down the road my 16 double axle trailer was more than I really wanted to put on it of 2 yards of dirt from them. i have done business with pitchfork for years, I have hauled 2 yards from pitchfork in the bed of my 1/2 ton shortbed truck multiple times, made me open my eyes to find better products at lower prices right down the road. If any one ever really reads these posts I do a lot of business using these materials and this establishment is not even on a list compared to the other businesses in the area. Take for what it is thas my 2 cents any way!! Hahaha be safe everyone!!!
Honestly I just pulled over there because I had a flat. But the guy came out with a jack while I was cursing my lugnuts and had my spare on ten minutes flat. Forgot to get his name but he was certainly fast and professional!
All these bad reviews, not sure why. I called before I went and they were friendly on the phone. The lady who filled my truck bed with garden mix was very nice and didnt spill any dirt at all while filling my truck, so that was nice to see. Might have been a light scoop of dirt didnt seem to be a full yard but idk maybe it was. I didnt need the full yard either way. Seems like good garden mix dirt too. Nice and stinky with no rocks and some light filler and whatnot. Ill def go back for more as this is way cheaper than the bags of dirt.
Had a great experience with Pitchfork. The woman that took my order was very nice and Mark was able to deliver my mulch a few days early on very short notice. They truly take pride in the business and taking care of their customers.
Pitchforks was essential for me to complete my project. Mark showed up a half hour before he needed to open to help me be able to start my project early. He always puts the customer first and has the best prices. I will always recommend pitchforks.
Very friendly and helpful. The cat is friendly also.
I was treated wonderfully and could not be happier with our service!
I am including my invoice with this post because something shady is going on here. I was looking to purchase a Baby Blue Eye Spruce and found some at Pitchfork Landscape. As I was going out with one of the staff members to select a tree, I inquired to the cost of delivery and installation. She informed me that DELIVERY would be about $60 and INSTALLATION would be 60% of the cost of the tree ($144 for this specific tree). This seemed normal compared to other companies in the area.I then went in to pay for the ticket. The owner was in there and started doing the math himself. He informed me that DELIVERY ALONE would cost $270 (112% of the cost of the tree). I was thrown off but he assurred me that I was buying the BEST TREE on the property and that if I didnt end up buying it he was planning to plant it in his own yard. He gave off the vibe of a snake oil salesman so I politely declined and left the property.I went to Carsons Nursery next and shared with them what had happened. They agreed that it sounded extreme that he would charge me more for delivery than the cost of the tree (for reference when Carsons INSTALL a tree, they only charge 60% of the ticket price for installation). Therefore, I went back to Pitchfork to make sure there was not a miscommunication and that he understood that I only needed a delivery. The owner shared that his math was correct for the delivery- that he was actually giving me a discount because he normally charges $300 minimum. He also told me as a bonus he was not going to charge me the tax for delivery (not sure why he chose to share that with me).I mentioned Carsons and he quickly implied that they do shotty work and that he (in contrast) was providing me a quality service. Knowing that the wool was being pulled over my eyes, I took the invoice (it had my personal address on it) and started to leave. As I was leaving, the owner yelled that the invoice was his personal property and that he was going to call the police unless I gave it back. I locked my car doors and drove off.I am not sure what is going on here, but reading other reviews here, I am sensing that this is not an honest businessman.Dont waste your time.
Very reliable and Mark Pitchford really gets things done when you want it done. Really a great guy.
Ive used Pitchfork several times since they have opened. Red Mulch, topsoil, Kiddie mulch and white gravel and soon to be oaklahoma Creek gravel) All top quality stuff! Mark and his staff go above and beyond on customer service! They are the go to place all my landscape needs!
If I could give them a zero I would. The man that owns and operates this business is a nightmare. He is rude and disrespectful to his employees and during the job that he did, four employees quit in a three month period because of how he spoke to them. He also could not complete the job in the designated time frame and ended up costing significantly more than originally quoted to the point where his services were terminated prior to finishing the job.
The owner will not let you speak. He dominates the conversation, the second you get a thought halfway out he interjects his brainy opinion before you can finish your idea. Going off on some other tangent thinking he knows what your idea is before you can complete the sentence you are trying to get across to him. The second you disagree with him he pushes you out the door or off the phone. Will not take any criticism about his product you may not have been happy with. By the way do not buy the high dollar mystery garden soil that he will not tell you anything about other than it has coffee grounds in it. No soil test, just his little soil blend concoction that he thinks is amazing. It doesn’t hold any water, grew plants side by side all things equal one in normal backyard soil, one in his $48 a scoop garden soil, and the plants grown in his soil are pitiful by comparison. I told him I wanted to try 1 scoop, but he tried and tired to sell me 3 scoops. Glad I only bought 1 because the stuff is awful. I’m going to covertly go back and do a soil test and post the results online. By the way he says next year it’s going up to $68 a scoop!!!! Wow come on people don’t be fooled by Mark. He is big talk about his products but his products don’t walk the walk. I would highly recommend amending your soil with something else other than his garden soils. At least you’ll know what is in your own garden soil. Like I said, this man acts like his soil is filled with gold flakes and pixy dust. DONT BUY IT. YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE RESULTS FROM YOUR PLANTS. Not to mention you’ll have to amend it with sphagnum or cotton burr anyways to get some real organic content in it and to hold some moisture. The owner has hung up on me twice for different things. If he doesn’t like what you have to say he will dodge you. Beware
He is a liar and treats his employees awful. He will most definitely hire you if your a single woman. He is not an honest individual.
2 yrs agoLandscapingTold we were in no hurry, known for years. 6 months later still not completed. Started in Oct. 2015, fired April 10. He has a hard time saying no to jobs and overextends himself. Went to pay for what was done, went over to his business 3x. 3rd trip finally paid for materials because I insisted that was April 29th 2016. 6 weeks later receive bill for Labor with overdue written on bill ( bill dated May 1st.). Paid bill that day with cash ( June 10) Lady that works there knew I had been over 3x to pay also. Quoted 5-6k for all landscaping. I paid 3975.00 for a mess. Charged $420.00 per pallet of rock to lay, and 50 to deliver each pallet approx. 14 miles (5 pallets x50=250.00) I unloaded. He did not Lay or charge for laying all 5 pallets. my ticket has amounts crossed out and made higher. I am in wrong business for sure. And to think he was a so called friend. I have tickets to document what I am writing. Dont spend your hard earned money here go anywhere else. With accounting practices and customer service like this he shouldnt be in business long. I should have listened to friends that said I would get took on this deal from the start, lesson learned. I fully expected to pay for the labor that was done, but not at the rate it was charged his numbers wont match his quote. I even unloaded pallets off trailer with my tractor. He fleeced me good. Never heard from Owner......ever......2 years later.......still have tickets from him to prove this post. So sad, someone I have known, got me good. This is posted on angieslist 2 years ago too. Be aware!
Could of used a longer taste but yes I liked it and could of used more
My first visit was great, they have fun personalities and are eager to help, would not hesitate to return.
Great landscape joint. Lots to choose from.
Horrible customer service
