They did a great job in a timely fashion I was super impressed
Answered a lot of questions over the phone vehicle unseen. Truly appreciated. Have some great work for us in the past as well.
Excellent body shop.
My BMW broke down with a transmission oil leak and a no-start issue while far from home. Having lived here in the past, Mid-State immediately came to mind. I was pleasantly surprised when the told me they could repair the no-start situation too. They managed to fix this ongoing situation once and for all......so very happy about the quality and fast turn around on repairs! Will definitely recommend to my friends.
Lived here over the past few years and just found out about this place (I’m kicking myself for not knowing about them sooner). Mid-State Transmission & Auto Repair is an awesome shop to use. Bryan and the guys are professionals that have been doing this stuff for a long time and do a quality job, noticeable in the little details that someone as OCD as myself picked up on.Professional, friendly, reasonable rates, and quality work. When asked what work they do they said “basically everything except tires.” They are my go-to shop now if any of my vehicles need some work. It’s been a long time since I’ve been motivated to write about a shop because I don’t know many that are “above the average”. Can’t say enough great things about them and felt compelled to give them some props.
More than transmission repair!!!! We had our 2016 explorer at the Ford dealership multiple time and they were unable to diagnose the issue. Within a few hours midstate diagnosed the issue and was able to line up a solution and they were very reasonable on the price. When parts took some time to obtain they gave us a vehicle to use. I will using midstate for all of my future repairs on all vehicles.
Great service and very personal. They let me know on an extra repair even though it was a small amount. Would recommend to anyone.
Had new brakes rotors and new hubs put on in 6/17/20. Drove car to Florida, and the left hub bearing went out . Had to get fixed at garage . Mechanic said probably put on to tight. I called TCB and they said I had to be there to get warranty . They said it said that on my receipt,Could not find that . Wheel bearing lasted 7months, and since I don’t live in I’ll. Any more looks like I am stuck with the bill, or hire attorney to get my money back. Garage who fixed it said to send hub and my paid bill back to TCB. TCB said I had to be there. Would not recommend TCB!
Jerry and his staff are the best!! Always a great experience, even when my car or truck arent wanting me to have one. Love Midstate Transmission!!
Always quick, I can often get a same day appointment or at least next day. They work with my insurance but the prices are reasonable enough to not worry me for services I pay out of pocket for. And they have yet to jerk me around, I can take my vehicles in not knowing for sure whats wrong and they never come back with bad news its almost always something relatively simple and fairly cheap. No piled on services or unnecessary wait times.
Great price on my GTI clutch and great service!
My daughter goes to school in Normal. I am an hour and a half away. They were so nice and helpful in getting her car fixed right away.
This is a very professional repair shop. They have ASC Trained mechanics. They can diagnose accurately and then make repairs. They are reasonably priced, but remember professional mechanics arent cheap. They will work in your time frame. I will always go there for my repairs.
My boyfriend and I were driving from MN to FL when the transmission started to act up.. VERY LONG STORY SHORT... The staff at Mid-State Transmission were simply amazing. Knowing we were traveling, they saw us right away an by the grace of God, it was an easy fix. The owner himself worked on our car (very nice to see an owner hands on in his own business) and Linda at the front desk was friendly, funny and sympathetic to our situation. We couldnt have ended up at a better place. Thank you Mid-State.. You have no idea how much you have helped us!!! God Bless You!
This place is amazing. Bryan got me in really fast and I was on my way 20 minutes later. Thank you so much guys!
We have got two major jobs done on our truck one including the transmission. This past week we called on Wednesday about struts/window/gas gage then Friday they called and said they were all done. Picked it up Friday night and the truck was good as new! They also had to call the warranty company and deal with them and it was still 2 days and the parts were in and all done. Not to mention the staff is very sweet and efficient and talks to you with respect. I highly recommend them to everyone. So happy to have people I can trust to work on our vehicles.
They changed the transmission fluid on my Toyota RAV4 and got it running like new again!
Knowledgable and honest. Did a great job!
Weve been here long before google reviews existed and its still a great place to get your vehicle fixed. We got tired of the local mechanics charging ridicules amounts for repairs and not always fixing the problem. Midstate can get the job done right and they warranty their work. Anything from a complete transmission rebuild to fixing a hidden drain hose, they can do it all.
Little costly but they will get you back on the road with no future related issues.
Excellent service and friendly staff!
Great place with exceptional people! Jerry goes above and beyond for his customers! Would recommend them to anyone!
This company treated us well when our transmission went on the motorhome we were driving through town. They offered new on whatever we needed. We found a used one, picked it up and they installed right away, getting us back on the road. Very pleasant and professional staff.
So far so good, quick turn around time, courteous staff.
Great service! Great people!
Went in for transmission assessment. Left with the 4WD no longer working. That wasnt the problem. 🤔😲
Man working the desk was oddly rude for no reason. Weird place.
Had great service until I heard a strange sound coming from my car a few days later... They left a pliers under my hood.
The owner of the shop did not charge me anything to diagnose the problem with my car! All he asked is when I am finished with a major project at work to come back, so he can replace my loose tie rod. Everyone conducted themselves very professionally. Mid-State has my business!
We lost 5th gear outside Normal Il in our 96 Dodge Diesel 2500. Called Mid State and they knew exactly what the problem was and told us to bring it in. Jerry Adams (the owner) took it for a drive to confirm the issue. Seems the nut backed itself off and 5th gear slid out (apparently a common problem) We told him we were towing a 5th wheel camping trailer home to VA and asked how long it would take. Jerry told us he would work on it himself and it would be done by EOB. THEN they gave us a car to drive!! We got the truck back a few hours later. We couldnt be happier. The only problem we have is that we dont live close enough to reccomend this shop to all our friends with transmission needs.
Very rude. Their customer service leaves something to be desired. When i called in to make an appointment, they said i would need to be off the premises when they look at my car because it makes then rush. Then i proceeded to ask again if i couldnt stay there while waiting on it because i will have no ride or anything to do, and he replied Yes you can, I just dont think you are getting this. then said goodbye and hung up without a second word from me. I will never go here again, they treat their customers like preschool children and are very offensive when doing so.
Had troubles with my car stalling last fall. Went in and they diagnosed it to be a MAF sensor. Being in a bind, I okayd them to install the part while I was in class over at ISU. Came back and was informed that they were putting a performance/high-end MAF sensor in to make sure I wouldnt have future issues. Total came out to roughly $450 w/ a discount. At the time, I was uneducated and figured it was a difficult task. However, flash forward to last month and the stalling resumed. Turns out the MAF sensor failed once again. I wanted to see if I had warranty on the part so I searched the part number. The part in the car was one of the absolute cheapest on the market. To double check, I brought the car to a local mechanic who confirmed my suspicion. I also searched around for how to replace the part myself and found it takes a whopping 2 screws that need to be undone. All in all with an actual top of the line part, the process took 15 minutes and cost me 1/4th the cost I was charged last fall. They do offer a student discount there, but be wary of the prices on some repairs. Very disappointed over my experience with them
I used to be a mechanic in the Bloomington/Normal area and actually used to work with one of the guys who works at Mid-State Transmission. I have always had the utmost respect for them and have sent a lot of people their way for things that were over my head or that I could not solve. I have dealt with Jerry before and he is always a joy to work with, always very helpful and cheerful, willing to offer his time and expertise often with little or no charge. However, I took a car in there recently and someone else was at the front counter. I requested a test drive and scan (which I was more than willing to pay for) to help diagnose an issue I was having with a family members car. The guy at the counter told me the only thing they could do was remove the transmission and see what was going on, which would cost at least three grand. In other words: get lost, youre wasting my time. I would like to think Jerry would have handled things differently (after all, its his business), because the only other conclusion I could draw is that they are getting away from diagnostics and moving towards simply rebuilding everything that comes in the door, and I know theyre better than that.
Received the car in the same condition I left it, They said it had a misfire at first, therefore replaced the coils, then they said the problem was still there, and suggested I replace the spark plugs so I did. After $500 of work put in, they called and said the piston was the problem therefore I needed a new engine. Even though they lowered the price I payed to $299 I was very unsatisified with their business. I literally paid to receive the car in the same condition I left it in, it seems as if they were playing guessing games while trying to fix my vehicle. On top of it all, I received my car with the front bumper cracked as well.
Very reasonable rates they tell you exactly whats wrong with your car and dont do anything other than fix what they told
I sent my 2002 Audi A6 to Mid-State Transmission by the recommendation of Kauth & Mayeur. There was a transmission problem that they thought would be about a $1000 job. Unfortunately, the problem was not resolved when the job was completed, but this is where Mid-State Transmission won my future business. Rather than saying they needed to try something else and charge me more, they continued to work on the issue at no additional charge until it was determined that the problem was much deeper in the transmission. At this point, they offered a refund, or to finish the job with me covering only the difference in cost.If you have ever been to an incompetent shop, then you know that this is uncommon in the auto repair business. Even the dealers do not take this much accountability for their work. I am confident that Mid-State Transmission will take care of me and my car, and do the right thing for me as a customer. I live in Peoria, but I am more than happy to make the trip to Bloomington for auto service when I know the service is this good. Jerry is wonderful to work with and he has helped me a lot more than I would expect anyone to. He treats me like I am his most important customer and I cant thank him enough for all he has done for me.
I brought car in and they told me tranny was bad and needed new or rebuilt tranny to the tune of 2500 to 3000. i took car to different shop hanks auto service in creve couer and they found out it was just the trans control module that got wet. replaced with used one off ebay for 100 bucks and car shifted and drove like new. mid-state are either incompetant or crooked as hell. they probably always try to say u need 2-3 thousand fix on any tranny problem. how u gonna know. lucky i decided to get second opinion. beware of this place.
Always great service at a fair price
They arent cheap but they do quality work and they stand behind it.
Great service, great work, very nice employees.
Good service
Wonderful group of people!
Go for the pros!
