DONT GO TO THIS PLACE..Extremely rude behavior towards the customer. The owner as well as the lady who is at the counter.I am not sure how this store is still open with such service. People have less options may be thats why. Expensive as well. God save us from the hand sanitizer that they use. Travel far but dont go at this place. Once I even saw another customer complaining over expired products with the lady to no solution. It seems the owner is forced to run the shop or we are getting the products for free.I saw so many reviews for rude behavior, expired products and high prices.
Frequent customer for past year.My inital thought on this grocery store is OK but not great.Observed for some time if they will improve but seems like they dont care about products which customer consumes.Regular packed items are good but vegetables are worst(onions in attached picture)Cilantro is not good quality always(weird leafy stuff in cilantro bunch). over the top when it comes to health safety. You will take a bath in disinfectant along with your cart.never ever going here again.
People need to STOP SHOPPING HERE, the owners attitude is the worst of any store we have ever visited. See the top keywords from all other reviews: Rude, Expensive, etc. -- Over the last several years everyone we know agrees this guy has much higher prices on most items than other Indian stores, follows you around and makes you feel like he thinks youre going to steal something, is using their own store-made sanitizing solution. ...If you dont see the sign, he will literally yell at you loudly and a super-angry face, sells questionable food with altered expiration dates or no expiration dates, and the list goes on. >>> Shop at any of the other 3 Indian stores in Lansdale where you get quality foods, much better customer service, and MUCH MUCH better pricing! Kill this business!
This store has lot of choices and has everything you would need! They have great okra during summer. The only disappointment is that they dont have the pricing for most of the items which is very sad. Most of the time we find surprises after billing. Please keep the prices displayed.
I wish the pandemic was over. They used to sell the best homemade samosas and chutney at the counter. If you have a favorite Indian food, they carry the best brands of it.
Best selection of rice Ive ever seen, at great prices too. The owners are always extremely nice and happy to educate
They spray alcohol at the entrance, prices are always high compared to other Indian stores. Employees are extremely rude, not only they not help you, they will ask you if you are blind and cannot read. The only advantage with this store is they have more selection.
I was happy to see a vegetarian store. So excited when I got in there i started grabbing vegetable without a chart. A young man who works there follower me and gave me an chart!!thank you. I was treated with kindness and prices are reasonable!!
Hi!I called this guy to ask for Prestige Cooker accessories. On the phone his attitude is horrible!!This guy has no clue of doing business at all!! Ekdum bekar! He’s spoiling all Marathis reputation and being one, I feel bad! Very rude attitude, please never shop at this place! 3rd class manus!! Hope this guy is reading this and he must read it!!! Bad bad bad bad review and attitude and horrible person!!
This one star is for their baseless policy of customers must use their solution of Dettol to sanitize their hands. Even if you have sanitized your hands with branded sanitizers. First of all its in some spray bottle and they make it themselves. How is one suppose to trust whats in there. Secondly, there are many people who cannot use Dettol for health reasons and would prefer to use alcohol- free sanitizer or something else. It just seems someone ignorant is making these rules here.
They sanitize at front and i said i am allergic to alcohol. If you have gloves i can wear them and they said with attitude they won’t allow me walk in the store. They even said it is dettol with 5% seriously?
This shop has huge potential but its VERY badly maintained, racks are cramped and very closely placed to make sure no shopping cart can move easily. There are two ladies at the counter one is very friendly and other is VERY rude and the male person at the counter is friendly. There are better shops nearby, shopping in this store is very dull experience and avoid as much as possible. Try TAZA grocery store few blocks away...felt like shopping there. There are better grocery store in Exton too. Owners are least bothered to renovate the store.
Good indian grocery choice. Excellent customer service
Owner is amazing, but the young Girl at the register is awful. Hope she knows how to smile. when asked for a product replied very rudely asked if I cant read. She needs to be trained, just for that reason lot of my friends stopped going to there. if you want retain your customers, train her.No customer service what so ever.
The attitude is worst. That lady is extremely standoffish and disrespectful! Swaminarayan Lady.
One star for their Dettol wash drama and mold on vegetables. They spray the cart handle with diluted Dettol only after customers take the cart inside the store, and then they push the customer to have Dettol spray on hands with no paper towels to wipe that off - Super Cheap!!! I mean if you really care about well being of customers, sanitize the carts before customers touch them and provide hand sanitizer at the doors BUT no, that will cost extra money and effort which they wouldnt invest in. The owner is nosy and he will come to shut the conversation if you are talking to his employee for a bit - again Super Cheap!!! He once tried to sell us spoiled Tinda saying you dont find it easy in US, and then wouldnt do anything when I showed him mold in Papaya, cucumbers other vegetables. There are no prices on most stuff and I dont think they pay any attention to expiration dates as we did see stuff in not sellable condition. I am never going there again!!!!
I am disabled with only one leg and have trouble getting around. The staff here is not Cooperative in helping me. They are really down right rude. I would never go to this place again.I guess they dont like handicapped people. Karma!! I asked them to get me stuff and they point and tell me go get it yourself.
Happy to visit Akshar Grocery, very clean and get all items at cheaper rates.
EXTREMELY arrogant owners/workers, they don’t respect their customers at all and are extremely discriminatory towards people that are non-Hindus and would give you looks as if you’re doing something wrong by just being in the store. No sense of customer service. Learn to respect your clients.
They still using detol liquid instead of sanitizer…though we apply sanitizer there….it’s not healthy if we consume it with the same hand
Worst customer service people who work in this store are very rude to customers. Dont if they are owners or employees.
Got open packs of Real coconut water. The tetra seal was opened. I went to return at the front desk of the store, the lady was so rude she didn’t take the packs in return and started to yell at me instead saying they never had this issue before. All I said was to re-check all the packs once’s it’s delivered to the store while restocking so that no other customer has this problem. Now all am going to do is complain about this in FDA since I have the pictures too.One of them is open and the other is half sealed. Please don’t ever go to this store, I found other expired products as well.
Fantastic place to get all the spices and things you didnt know you needed. They have a great selection of spices, sauces & marinades and each aisle has another product I didnt know I needed and now cant live without. If you enjoy cooking and want something more interesting than what McCormicks provides, come here.
Extremely bad customer service and rude owner!Rarely do I provide negative reviews, since I know how difficult it is to run a business, specially during COVID. But this owner and his staff are extremely rude, with absolutely no interest in customer service or satisfaction. Just asked about the freshness of vegetables and was lectured for the same. They mandatorily spray low quality disinfectant on customers leaving a stench.Kindly avoid the place unless absolutely necessary.Taza or Apka is much better and similar quality products cost much lesser there too.
First of all, let me say that I have never given a negative review to anyone ever. Akshay Grocery is an Indian grocery store close to us and, over the years, I have tried to give them as much business as possible. I have also promoted them in the local community through Sunday Balvihar School. As this business was growing, I tried to overlook their shortcomings. I gave the business the benefit of doubt hoping they will learn to improve the quality of products and also learn to serve customers with respect. I was wrong.Price-wise they are higher than most local grocery stores. The quality is hit or miss. Invariably, you will find the frozen items have clear signs of freeze and thaw. Be careful with the ice creams etc. My worst experience was insects in the wheat flour that ended up infesting our whole pantry in the house. We had to do a major clean up to get rid of the insects.Lot can be ignored if the business owner has some sense of humility and can at least pretend to provide some level of customer service. Any question about the quality is rebuffed. Any complaint about an item is met resistance or, worse, scorn. I tried to indulge and patronize him multiple times hoping to develop some rapport of mutual respect, to no avail. The owner, Mr. G, has no EQ to run a business enterprise which makes the whole experience like hitting your head on a wall. After purchasing $500 worth of items last weekend, I went back to return a mold-infested $2-3 product today. I was treated with the least accommodation and maximum red tape.If you do shop here, be aware of the risk and be prepared to be humiliated by the rudest business owners I have known in my life. Even if the owner can fix all the issues, he will not be able to fix who he is as a person. I am done with them for good. The life is too short to deal with obnoxious people.
Dirty, dark, AC condenser dripping on the floor. And avocado prices are more expensive than surrounding grocery stores, and not good quality. Not a pleasant place to shop
0 stars, or even a deep black hole for this one. Avoid this store.
This is a vary neat place really good price on dry good and many spices I. Just cant find any other places
Rude & arrogant behavior by the guy there. Some vegetables were not very fresh.
This place is fully stocked with anything you may need ( hence the single star review) but the service here is awful!! The people who manage and own this place are rude, condescending and obnoxious! If ever I need something its the last place I go!!
I been to this grocery store they were spraying their customers with hand sanitizer mixed with dettol. The lady on the counter was spraying on every customer. My cloths and grocery smells like dettol and after half an hour my hands start burning.
They sell expired products and when informed them the reply we got is they are so busy and didn’t check there inventory. Never again going to this store.
I figured I would give this place a shot and I received sub-par customer service. I am still shocked when I experience this as it is not hard to just greet someone politely ESPECIALLY if they plan on giving you money. Save your time and energy.
Worst customer experience. Though we showed and reported expired products in the store, he put it back in the same rack without any proper reason. I don’t recommend anyone. If you go to the store at any cost, please double check expiry date.
Everything is good . They have all stuff, you require. They need to improve on after sales customer care and behaviours . I surprised to know that they follow “ No return “ and “ No refund” policy. Other store don’t follow such kind of discriminating policy.
Good stuff in the areaHbk
When I went to this store on Friday, the owner Mr. Patel greeted the customers at the entrance with a hand sanitizer and made sure that every customer is hand sanitized. The prices of products remain the same and there is no price gouging as in other Indian stores. The employees are extremely nice and provide all necessary help. The store is very well stocked and caters to every ones needs. Great place to shop. Lucky to have such a store in our neighborhood. Thank you Mr. Patel.
Extremely Bad customer service ever got after living in US for more than a decade. The owner and lady in the counter is very rude and has no manners. They force their customers to use their cleaning liquid as i am not sure if it is a santiser inspite of customers intending to use their own sanitisers and they also sprayed it all over me without my consent. They sell expired stuff. I hope the goverment takes their license based on so manybad reviews on selling expired things and doing against customer will. I will never ever go to this store again and urge everyone to go the other Indian stores in the area. Just a advice to the owner and the lady please dont spoil the name of our country with your bad rude behaviour!!!!
The owner and the woman at the counter are very rude and have so much attitude i have been to this store so many times but still the same arrogance and rudeness. Recently when we stepped into the store they want to spray some sanitizer on me but I told them that I want to use my sanitizer because I dont want to touch stores sanitizers for which they told customers should only use their sanitizer that too its not even pump they are literally spraying it how ridiculous. No other store in the entire Pennsylvania behaves like this. They are losing so many customers still they have the same attitude and rudeness. We dont want to step in to this store anymore. Does the owner thinks the store as his home? He can have his rules at his home not to customers. Never seen such a pathetic customer service. Very bad.
Bad customer service and The Lady in counters is very Rude and no manners
My name is Pareshkumar Patel and yesterday me and my wife went to this store to buy some Grocery. We saw the deal of the OKRA and as per our habit we check the Okra. We have very bad experience regarding to buy our Grocery with this store. The behave and attitude of the lady on the counter was not good at all. They lost one customer due to their bad behave. I am writing because we are not satisfied with the service of this store worker. We decided not to go ever in this store. They dont know how to save the customer. I am very kind person and nature to let it go but I was failed on that time with the behave of that lady with us. I strongly recommend to everybody please avoid this kind of store who dont know the value of the customer and dont know how to behave with the customer. Just with only one thing of the OKRA they disturb our mind and force us to buy with the price $2.99 while its cost was $0.99 with the buying cost of grocery of $10.00. The reason to force use to buy because we were check that OKRA with remove little part of it to check its good or not. We want to buy that OKRA with the price of $0.99 because we bought grocery of worth of $10.00 or more. But that lady told us whatever you checked with remove little part of OKRA you have to buy with the cost of $2.99 and without checking of OKRA you can buy in $0.99. Now why she did that with us while we want to buy OKRA whatever we checked and didnt check? She is really really nonsense lady. If we want then we can put all grocery at a time and nobody can force us to buy that. But as an Indian we didnt did that and she didnt feel any kind of shame. So I recommend to everyone that dont feel any shame and avoid that store to go and to buy grocery from there. OKRA is their life.
Rude owner. The people at the counter are just slow, absolutely no respect for anyones time. The owner is just down right rude, they treat their produce especially the okra as God sent gift. Dare you touch it with any intention other than purchasing it. Just rude.Plus their dry spices and items are simply overpriced. Everything is over priced.Ive found other stores cheaper than this place. And I shall be going there itself going forward.Enjoy....
Very good store where you can get every Indian household item. I don’t know why there are so many low ratings on this page. Also they avoid the use of plastic bag by giving cardboard boxes to take back your stuff, which is a very smart and eco-friendly way!
One of the best vegetarian Indian grocery store in this area. Owner n staffs are very nice, humble & helpful. You can find all kinds of Indian masala, Lentis, snacks, vegetables, ready to eat food, indian cosmetics & many more. My favorite is Okra from here for sure. They dont keep any halal items. Yes I would highly recommend this place.
Veggies get spoiled early..i suspect other grocery items are near expiry too..very rude owners..experienced their rude behavior and also heard multiple complaints abt the owners from friends.. stopped going after few visits and prefer Bhabani in Exton or Balaji in North Wales though its half an hr more drive for me..
The customer service is bad and they are very rude to the customers specially at the cash counter.Goods quality is decent though.
If you can drive and skip the store please do so. I found expired items on their racks plus some of the fruit juices had their packs opened and yet these people are selling it.Lady at the front desk is another worst experience of the store, she is extremely rude and shows arrogance.DONT VISIT THIS STORE.
Zero respect for customers. The owner and the lady behind the counter both are so rude and demeaning. Zero sense to talk to a customer and no respect even for ladies. Selling rotten stuff and then defending themselves to the extent of insulting the customer. Low quality vegetables and spices but they will charge you premium. When we showed the owner the rotten stuff he literally chewed it and said it’s fine! What a disgusting attitude. If you can’t accept returns even for rotten stuff then just say so!There are far better stores around to buy indian stuff. If I could give zero stars I would after this experience. We have had two similar bad instances before but still forgave, but not this time. They just lost a customer and the way they behaved I’m sure they will lose more. Stay away from this place.
Very rude owner and bad customer service. Always respond very rude for any type of questions.
This is the last place i will choose to go. The staff is Rude like hell. If you visit this place just buy your stuff without any conversation with staff that’s my suggestion.
Absolutely no respect for customers. Extremely rude owner. I asked that if there was sugarcane juice available and the owner responded saying ‘don’t you have commonsense, i will get sued if i have sugarcane juice stall open between a pandemic’ - they had a sign saying it was open, i dint notice that it was only on and sundays. On that note, I don’t think Covid has an exception for weekends - So you can figure out who lacks commonsense. You ought to treat a fellow human being with respect if you want to be respected. I don’t write reviews much, but I’m writing this one because this place might have the groceries but completely lacks minimum decency and respect towards its customers, so it doesn’t get mine either.
Fav place to do indian shopping
Huge storeGreat varietyIndian groceries fresh produceCooperative staff
No respect for customers. The owner is very rude as other reviews say and doesn’t know how to talk. I wore a mask and single glove because I don’t have two and carried a sanitizer in my purse. When I entered the store he sprayed Dettol all over and asked me “Why are you wearing only a single glove. Do you want to die?”. I asked that guy why he didn’t even wear a single one, then he said I have my Dettol and I said I have my Sanitizer. Then he said “My shop my rules” sanitizer is not allowed only dettol is good as if it was FDA approved. I told him to put a board or something otherwise people wouldn’t know not to use a sanitizer, then he said he doesn’t need to put a board because that’s a common sense. I still did not get his common sense logic. Did you?????
This is a good place to get authentic Indian groceries, very clean, organized and helpful place. I highly recommend.
Rude owner and the store has many items expired. I was in a rush and did not check the expiry date. Apart from this, the woman who is at the check out was very rude. When I was waiting in front of the counter, she did not even realize me standing there and instead was watching her phone. When I asked for a specific product she was very arrogant in her response. Other stores offer same items with lower prices. My advise to people dont go to this store.
The owner is rude and obnoxious. I wore gloves inside the store due to Covid. At the checkout I removed one of the gloves to get the credit card out (didnt want to contaminate it ). Signed the card machine with my gloved hand. The owner at the checkout starts yelling at me for removing the glove and starts spraying disinfecting liquid at me without even trying to understand that I had not touched anything with my bare hand, just my credit card. I or my family will not be stepping inside the store ever again.
The quality has gone down since it opened many years ago. Most of the vegetables are always below par, never crisp and fresh. Make sure you check the firmness; better to make the trip to Montgomeryville. And the woman at the counter can be nicer to bring more customers in. Agree with other reviewers, the woman is outright rude and don’t treat you as a customer.
Great prices & selection
Vegetarian grocery store. Has good variety of Indian grocery items and veggies.
Horrible employees
Extremely rude owner!! Don’t have any regard for customer. He is using some nasty spray as sanitizer which I refused to spray on... showed him I am using my own purell sanitizer but he didn’t allow me to step in the store. Would advice to never use this store for groceries. They are a lot of better indian grocery stores with much better prices
Very very rude owner and rude staff. expired items, very high prices, other indian stores in the area far better and cheaper, never ever going back there again. Negative rating if possible.
Like this place I can find all types of exotic spices and different Asian inspired staff was very nice, only problem I had was you have to have cash or spend $10 to use your credit card!
It is good. Prices used to be lower.
Fraud & Scammers. The price said $7.99 charged me $11.50, not a big diffrence in price but, that is dishonsety and unacceptable. No going here anymore
Fraudulent and tricky. Simply very bad store and very stupid exchange and return policy.I do not recommend anyone go there.
Convenient location, had most options, friendly staff!
This store has VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I bought some kitchen utensils from here and found out one steel-ware was defective. I went to return it (with receipt) that too very next day. This guy on store billing counter very rudely said they do not exchange, replace or return any item even with receipt.Though I managed to exchange that defective item, but you are better off going to some other Indian grocery store.
Be careful and check the dates and seal of everything you buy from here. They sell expired products. I was here in a rush and didnt take the time to check the dates and learned this lesson in a hard way. Biscuits, spices, juice everything was expired. Seal was broken for a packet. Never ever going there!!
Rude owner and cashier
Not mention about the price for each item in the receipt as what we’re purchasing. Also check the price of the item and the bill amount presented in the receipt is correct more than twice. They make fool of people at times. Also expired food items are sold. Beware of food given to kids from this store in particular. Suggest NO to this store if there’s no trustworthy.Above was added 2 years back and I havent gone to this store a single time then...Still continue to hear the same feedback from my friends even when entering to 2021.. nothing has changed from this shop.
One of the better Indian stores in the area. Will have to remember to carry cash with me as they dont take cards for less than $10. Had to stop in for a few spices and ended up buying parathas as well.
Akshay is a wonderful, nice and friendly guy. He runs the place very well never had any issues. He is very good to his customers. He has sugarcane juice which will remind you of your home country. Every visit is a great shopping experience.
You get almost all Indian groceries, vegetables, fruits, flowers, Pooja items, Mango leaves, betel leaves etc. They also make fresh sugar cane juice in summer. All rates are nominal. They give Basil plant free of cost in summer, if you ask between 9 am and 6 pm all days, which is a wonderful thing I like the most.
Awesome service. Better pricing and a lot of good variety for groceries related to many regional Indian cuisines. Its a pitstop for many Indian kitchen add-on items too.On Friday, Saturday and Sunday you can buy the sugarcane juice which is awesome.
They might have everything but they are very rude & non customer oriented people, as well they prices are also high as compared with other stores.
Great place to find specialty ingredients such as chickpea flour, fresh jackfruit, coconut cream, cardamom seeds, chickpea flour, etc. They have the largest selection of incense in the area and its all high-quality, affordable, and smells wonderful. They often have fresh samoas near the register that are vegan and delicious.
Extremely rude owners and employees. Never entering this store again. If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place should be shut down. Reporting this place as unfair practice due to poor quality products, rude customer service, and mislabeling. The owner is extremely violent and tried to attack customers. Worst business owners I have ever encountered.
This was a nice little shop. Great authentic Indian produce. Everyone was very friendly. They have things its like shampoo and conditioner, soap, smell goods, food you name it.
Good.
Visited almost during the closing hours 9 pm. But staff were kind enough to oblige and were highly cooperative. Almost all grocery items snacks sweets vegetables greens are available. Enjoyed shopping. Great place.
Best place to get quality Indian grocery with least price in the area. I support family run businesses. This one is best for a vegetarian like me.
This place is pathetic. Thay gave me a box of slice cold drink which was expired 8 montha back. When i told them they did not apologize at all and said “ it comes like this from India” . Poor and rude customer service.
Good solid store. Has everything vegetarian
An Indian grocery store which is very similar to an Indian departmental store back home. Its a one stop shop for fresh veggies, dairy items and much more. No meat as its pure vegetarian. They also have crockeries, utensils and items used to perform Indian religious ceremonies (puja).
Found good number expired goods(packed items such as snacks, biscuits) ....check expiry date before you buy packed food items/snacks in this store. You could find almost every other Indian grocery...the people in counter are bit absent minded(especially the lady and owner),they forgot the cash i gave and got into argument...the same happened with other person the same day...
Good varieties available at the store.Indian Pain relief oils, hair oil, or various Indian stuff of good choices is available at the Indian store.
IT IS GOOD STORE THE OWNER IS GOOD AND COOPERATIVE.IT VERY ORGANIZE STORE AND YOU WILL GET EVERY THING INDIANGROCERIES AS WELL FRESH INDIAN VEGETEBLES. HAPPY SHOPPINGHERE.
To many varities of indian food available. They also keep their store clean
Vegetable quality is not very good. Also, the price of many items are higher than price of other indian grocery stores. And most important, the behaviour of the person in counter is very rude. So, we have decided never to go there and giving 1 star.
Very rude customer service. The lady (I think the owner) asked me to read the sign when I request her for some vegetables to get from behind the store. She was trying to putting me down as I am a layman who does not know English or so:)).Hey, there are other stores too in the area. You are loosing your customer every time you show this kinda attitude. Why do they have to hide the green leaf vegetables (saags) in your storage and make customers to beg to bring in the counter. If you are selling the produce display it so that the customer dont need to ask you, if you hate to address customers need. Not going there anymore !!Zero rating, if I could.
Prices are very high compared with other Indian stores and always some loud religious audio is going on, not comfortable shopping at this store.
They sell expired products on sale and put their own label with extended expiry date. I bought ashirwad wheat flour and when I opened the packet I found flour warm. On my next visit when I complained about this but the store owner refused to accept this complaint.
I like that is has a lot of variety of items. The workers are very nice! I will come back
The lady there is very very rude. I wanted jasmin flower and I asked her to show if that is veni or just a normal one. She rejected to show and insisted to buy without seeing it. Do I did not buy flowers. I continued shopping for other veggies. At the end while billing again she created drama and did not give the stuff I wanted to buy. Also most of the items i saw was expired. And if we show it the owner starts arguing that its not expired. They also do not take return even they gave us expired product.I will not enter the shop again .
Nice place for immediate needs. May or may not have all the items. Very courteous staff.
Great variety of food choices
