We stopped here for breakfast before continuing our trip to MA. The staff were very nice and friendly. The food was excellent and served quickly! I had the cannoli French toast (pictured), my wife had the smores pancakes and we split an order of breakfast potatoes. The potatoes were grilled and seasoned perfectly! If/when we are in that area again, we will definitely be coming back!

It was a Sunday morning, very busy. We waited over an hour to get a table. For as long of a wait as it was, the food shouldve been perfect. The spinach and tomatoes were raw and made the eggs Benedict not as good as it couldve been, made the eggs cool off too quickly. Other than that very nice waitress, accommodating. Just disappointing because you expect perfection. Its usually very good.

The Hidden Kitchen is a new favorite of ours: the food is imaginative and delicious, the portions are very generous and the staff is friendly and helpful. I had the Hamptons Bennie (poached eggs, smoked salmon, avocado, and tomatoes topped with Hollandaise sauce) and my husband had the shrimp and grits (with chorizo, spinach and eggs) YUM! We have been ordering take out during the pandemic and it is always hot and fresh. They even wrote a little message on our bag for my birthday breakfast. They are simply the best!!

This is truly a hidden gem! One of the best diners I have been in Connecticut. For some reason Google maps never showed me this place before 😒. The staff is extremely friendly. they cared for everyone who came there. Even though we went half an hour before closing time on a Saturday, they happily took all our orders. The food is very unique. The bloody Mary and apple cider mimosa was awesome! the French toast with raspberry sauce and ricota was top notch. The pesto egg sandwich was too die for. the blue berry muffin was perfect in every way. I am looking forward to eating more at this place. my wife and myself were so glad to have found this place on our first anniversary. Thank you for your generosity and service. I stopped in here after a nearby hike to grab some breakfast on the way home. We ordered online a bacon, egg and cheese and another sausage, egg white and cheese sandwich. It was ready for pickup in about 10 minutes and pretty inexpensive. Id say there was a bit too much cheese on my sandwich, I like cheese a lot but it was a bit too gooey with all of it and somewhat masked everything else. However that might be the perfect amount of cheese for someone else! Overall it was a fine sandwich and the waitresses were all friendly. Id recommend giving it a try.

Went here with my wife and parents, absolutely awesome! To start with the food, got the Gimme-A-Chimme with Home fries and a full stack of the Fruity Pebbles French Toast to share, all were amazing! The photos dont do it justice in my opinion. If you like sweet and/or savory breakfast foods they will easily satisfy your cravings here! Now for the service, another A+, our waitress was so nice! My father is physically handicapped and she was so accommodating to him (along with the other diners who were near us too, love a friendly atmosphere). We plan on coming back here and highly recommend that you need to grab some cash and hit this place up!

Theres nothing hidden about the flavor and atmosphere of this little diner. Truly a gem in the town. With a dual set of menus for all day and breakfast specials, there truly is something for everybody. While the small-time-diner may get some criticism from some, the setup is perfect for a party of 4 or less.Let me start by saying the food options are incredible. With specialties every day and a menu full of sweet tooth or savory options for both breakfast and lunch, there is no shortage of orders one person can decide on. The best part about the menu is that there is enough variety to truly go back any day (or every day) of the week and get something different for months. The flavor of each of our dishes, pictured with this review, were unique and delicious. The special muffin today was the Snickers Muffin with caramel topping. The Oreo french toast was especially flavorful with chocolate and creme in between the layers. The Caramel waffle went well with bananas, walnuts, and chocolate chips. The best part about small diners is the aesthetic and service, which truly separates great diners from less stellar ones. My coffee cup was never empty, with not one, but several of the staff consistently checking in with us and getting us whatever we needed. There were tons of smiles, suggestions for orders, and I felt like I was genuinely cared for as a customer. From the front desk down to the waitress that cleaned my table afterwards, every part of this interaction was wonderful. There is no doubt that I would return here in the future!

Yesterday we visited with my sister in law, who by happenstance goes to cross fit with Sandi, our server and owner. We arrived at a good time with a minimal wait. They have a diverse menu, and a special menu with almost as many options as the regular menu. Other specials are posted to the wall. This is a foodies paradise! It’s quaint, quick, and oh so delicious! I had the Tijuana Omelet w/ home fries and a biscuit. Just look at that biscuit... The best I’ve ever had. My husband had the California Benedict. He really enjoyed that as well. My SIL had French toast and sausage. Check this place out!!

Weve been to the hidden kitchen twice. The first visit we had great food and good service. The second visit we decided to bring our family. We traveled in two cars and half of our family had gotten stuck at a light and was a couple minutes behind us. My girlfriend and I decided to go inside and put our names down for inside dining. Immediately telling the hostess that we had a total of 5 people, we were asked if our party was here. I explained that the rest of our party had just pulled into the parking lot and would be inside in a moment. The hostess sat us down immediately in a booth, as there had been multiple tables available. We sat down and browsed the menu while our party made through the parking lot. We noticed that what looked to be the owner chastising the hostess for sitting us without the full party being inside the restaurant. The owner then immediately comes over and asks where the rest of the party was. We told her that they had just parked and we were told we could sit as they made their way inside. We were met with an attitude from the owner telling us that we should not be sat until they are inside and we needed to get up. Our family then walks inside the restaurant while we point them out. The owner mumbled something under her breath and makes a snarky remark about being sat without the full party. This immediately left a bad taste in our mouth. While I understand the idea behind the policy, there were a number of ways this could be handled. 1) the hostess should not have sat us and just told us from the beginning, 2) the owner can use a lesson in customer relations and the way she speaks and handles situations with her attitude, 3) she could have looked out the large window in the front of the restaurant as I pointed out my family coming inside. Instead, she gave us unnecessary attitude and ruined our experience for something that could have been easily handled like a professional. The restaurant had multiple tables available and there was no wait at that time. We wont be back.

By far the worst breakfast experience I’ve had probably ever. Table of 5 sat down at 10 am took 1 hour and 45 minutes for our last meal to hit the table after everyone else had finished there meals. Our table collective had a 170$ tab with drinks. 1 apology from weight staff, only to deal with a confrontational, unprofessional, rude manager. Coming from someone who has 10 plus years in the “small business” restaurant business there’s no excuse for this. Not looking for my bill to be comp’d would just have liked an Sincere apology rather then met with lame excuses and confrontation. I understand kitchen gets busy and they get a little busy, but 2 hours for breakfast is unacceptable. Wouldn’t have been this upset if management had handled the situation different. Long story short if there’s more then 5 tables already seated when you get there, turn around and find another spot

I have been coming to HK for almost two years and every single time I am there, Sandy, Dave and staff go above and beyond to make sure their customers are happy and well fed. From the many different varieties of French toast, pancakes, eggs benedict, omelets and many other scrumptious breakfast selections (of which I am trying to have tried every one of them at least once)including my personal favorite, the deep fried bacon egg and cheese sandwich, HK is hands down the best food and staff you’re going to find in a local restaurant. Maybe once I get through the breakfast menu, I’ll try the lunch one! They are always so worried about their customers that when Hurricane Henri came looming about, they decided to close for the safety of their guests and staff. While one may think that they deserve a bad review with two stars because they were closed, I give them 5 for being so concerned. Shop Local people!

The chocolate syrup was a nice touch and every bite was savored.I ate the actual mini canoli last. The apple pie french toast was good too cuz it had apple pie filling on the inside. The fresh apples on top were an eye catching garnish. They also provided the fresh, crisp, taste of a green apple which added on to the flavor that much more.I liked the service, the prices were reasonable, and the food was great. Found this place online looking for a good breakfast place to eat while in the Guildford area for the Connecticut Museum Open House Day 2021. My sweetheart loves light fluffy pancakes and always laments that almost all restaurants have maybe 3 or 4 different varieties to choose from at most. Well, Hidden Kitchen had 28 not counting the waffles and french toast selections! We got the chocolate banana ricotta and they were heavenly light, moist and oh so good! So many tempting and creative combinations we wanted to try em all! I got the chorizo onion pepper omelette and it was great. WHY? Although the waitress said it was stove cooked this omelette reminded me of my favorite whipped & baked in the oven omelettes that you can only get at The Original House of Pancakes ( NOT IHOP ) out of Portland, Oregon, with branches throughout the US. THe secret to their omelettes are that they are literally whipped into a fluffy foam and then oven baked so that they come out puffed up high and thick and ever so light. Thats what the Hidden Kitchen omelette is...thick, fluffy and light.Service was very good and my coffee cup never went dry. Menu is quite extensive and they have breakfast sandwiches, Mexican egg dishes and many kinds of Eggs Benedicts too. The interior is pleasant and they have a large tent set up out front for outside diners. Little did I know that this place has won all kinds of regional BEST OF awards, as the front of the menu attests and with 28 kinds of pancakes....well be back!

A delicate pesto sauce, sliced tomatoes and a potato cake complimented a supreme piece of fish. I have never changed a review. The attitude of the manager today changed that. The staff, as normal, were attentive and helpful even though a busy Saturday morning.I ordered steak and eggs, and was asked how Id like it, I said medium-rare. When it arrived 40 minutes later, it was obvious that it was not cooked medium-rare. I gave it a shot; if it was tender and edible, I wasnt going to make a fuss, its a busy morning. It wasnt. Shoe or football leather are appropriate analogies. I apologized to the server because I knew she was busy, and she was sympathetic and agreed it wasnt medium-rare. She graciously asked if I wanted another, and I said no due to the time and Id just eat the sides. I did not ask for it to be removed from my bill. The manager came out and told me they only cook medium and there is a little pink there, so its medium. I begged to differ. Apparently this was their version of medium. I was told that this was a wonderful piece of meat, cooked exactly as it should and that aggressively and emphatically stated she would not be removing it from my bill. I mentioned that I asked for medium-rare, and that is not what I got, nor was I informed that they only cooked medium. I offered to google medium steak, to prove this was not. I got berated that she eats this type of steak for dinner and it was worth $45 at a restaurant, and its the way we do it here. She left, only to came back to point out the order was only on the line for 43 minutes (I had mentioned we had been there over an hour). For $16.95, I got a dry, tough meat and an ear full of attitude. The manager should take a page from the servers book in how to treat customers. OK, fine. Keep your attitude and over cooked meat.A $16-steak staying on the bill I could have lived with for a return visit, everyone has off days and I love to support local business. But your attitude has lost you a customer.Service staff: 5 StarsManagement: -5 Stars.
