An incredible selection of food items that are hard to find. Aisles and aisles of delicacies from across the globe. Good vegetarian section. I heard they make a delicious pho soup in the front but haven’t tried it yet.

I have loved shopping here since its inception. I wish they still sold the sweet salty snacks with dried cuttlefish. So unique and tasty.

I love this place, you can find anything, and it got there really really big types of sake things and thats really cool too. I love the selection of Roman and different types of noodles and the fruits and the only downside is it always smells like fish... But other than that its really cool place to go to.

Visit to H & L Asian Market in North Charleston, South Carolina.Although I did not photograph the store aisles, rest assured that this store has pretty much everything the larger stores in New England, and New York will have perhaps tho in reduced quantities. I was satisfied that my wife would have felt right at home shopping here.With fresh meats, and seafood, and broad kitchen & restaurant supply, as well as good produce, frozen, and dry goods this probably serves many local restaurants as a major supply store.With an included restaurant cafeteria menu, and seating, I found no faults here with one exception - unfortunately they do not prepare sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf - a personal favorite of mine which I sorely miss.H & L Asian Market even had frozen, and whole Durian fruit - which puts them right at the top of my list !I did add one 360° photo just inside the front door to give you an idea of the store size, double-click on the photo to view in 360° degree vision.Service was courteous, and friendly, although as an English only speaker I did have to approach several employees before finding one who would speak to me.I highly recommend this business for asian supermarket shopping, and only Saigon Market about three miles away comes close to this in size, and variety as best as I can tell.With only a 1.8 % Asian population here in this area, there just are not as many good markets to choose from as one might find in Boston, New York, Seattle, San Francisco or more populous areas. It is good to know that there are places here to fulfill the needs of this market niche !

Thought I reviewed this before. Horrible, horrible customer service!! But convenient when you need to make a particular asian dish and cant buy the ingredients at your local grocery. Pricey yet thats what you get for imported goods.

I usually go to the restaurant inside.. I drive an hour just to get good pho.. the person that took my order was playing on the phone. She asked me twice if I was going to eat in or to go.. I told her twice TO GO.. when I walk back around to pick up my food, our food was on the table and she said the restaurant was closed if I wanted I could put it in a box..the noodles and meat was added so when I got home all the broth was gone..the noodles swole up..$25 for nothing

This grocery store has all kinds of goods from Asian foods, a small selection of Latino foods and housewares. They even sell some restaurant supplies.The selection is fantastic. Theyre also limiting the amount of people who go in, and require masks and gloves to shop. My crew spent 2 hours in here exploring, as were not from the area and our Asian markets are a lot smaller.They sell a wide variety of fresh produce, seafood, meat (beef pork and I think I recall poultry), frozen goods and dry foods. The service was also good and the staff was really polite and friendly. This was well worth our trip alone!If youre from somewhere that has tiny Asian grocery stores and youre in the area, I highly recommend it.They also have a restaurant, but we didnt eat there so I cant speak for it.

I love this grocery store, it has good quality ingredients and treats/drinks my family love that can be hard (or impossible) to find anywhere else. The prices are fair and the layout of the store makes it easy to find what I need.

Me and my mom love this place. We live on Sullivans Island so we don’t get to go very often but when we do it’s a real treat. Their variety is huge and they have stuff from tons of different Asian countries. The in-store take out they serve is absolutely delicious, as well!

Shelves were not stocked fully. Prices have gone up alot. Didnt smell as fishy as it used to. Need more coffee choices like kopiko cappuccino. Have gone to great Asian stores in VA . I wish we had one that was as clean and kept up as there.

The prices have def gotten higher here. They should give out samples for some of their items. They would probably sell more if we knew what it tastes like.

Always a good lunch there and shopping afterwards. So much to find and products to learn about while cruising the aisles. Never leave without more than I thought I wanted.

I kind of wonder if these reviews are for the same place we shop at a couple of times a month? For a Charleston Asian market, yes its better than the one near the skating rink. But for an Asian market in general, not the best. You never know what theyll have til you get there so dont plan what you need in advance. Check expiration dates carefully. As for service, Id describe it as surly at best, bordering on downright rude.

Amazing store!! I used to live in Japan and its so nice to be able to get authentic Japanese food.

After the Governor dropped the Mask Mandate, we went shopping there, as we always do. An employee saw us shopping with no mask, and Very rudely started shouting at us telling us we Had to wear mask. Well, we just left groceries there and walked out. You would think we are prejudiced against Asians, but we are Asian!

Very rare find in the Southern States! I like the variety and organization at this store. Also, they are very strict on their covid policy, which is GREAT! I feel like they care about their customers. They have thin plastic gloves and masks for you if you dont have one.

H & L Asian Market on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston is a great place to shop for all things Asian food. I like their selection and variety of items that they have available and they have good values compared to some other stores. The staff here is very friendly and willing to help you out if you need it.

The store has a reasonable price and well-stocked. But the cashier lady had destroyed my impressive about it. She has poor customer service skills. Never greeting or say thank you. It’s the only place in the U.S. that gave me a terrible feeling about communicating between people. Or maybe she hates me. It’s kind of sad because I am their customer for more than 5 years and stop by weekly. At least the younger the cashier lady is way much better. For some reasons, I didnt see her for a while. And the current lady took over that job. She made me consider whether to go there. So I would not have gone there as often as before if it wasnt really necessary.

I like the wide selection of foods and restaurant supplies. They usually have the random ingredients necessary to make obscure Asian dishes at home. They have been supplying masks and gloves since March. They have a great little restaurant with very fresh food/soups unfortunately can’t eat in during the pandemic as of August. Definitley the place to go for any and all Asian recipes in Charleston. Cheap shallots!

This place is better than most American chain stores. Its clean, has amazing produce, and keeps its shelves stocked. The employees here are very helpful as well as friendly. I recommend this store to all of my friends because of the sheer amount of products they offer as well as the atmosphere.

Really good prices on some items that are 2 or 3 times higher in other American grocery stores. Some items are the same price or higher. They diffinatly carry a lot of items that you cant find anywhere else. Clean and maintained

I love this market..It reminds me of my hometown of Lowell in Massachusetts.Great variety of authentic asian ingredients and produce you really cant get in an American stores.Most products a reasonably priced. They are on top of their COVID distancing and also supply masks and gloves....No other store Ive been to does that. I dont mind driving 20/30 minutes depending on traffic to get to H&L Market!

Absolutely one of my favorite stores. Everything from Korean to Vietnamese to Japanese products. If you have particular Asian recipe in mind, this place has the ingredients.

First you need gloves and mask before entering the store. They provided both.I like this store because you can found everything you need for your asian recipes.

I spent an hour on the same isle looking for 3 items. I asked 3 different people how to find the items. Finally I had given up and decided to try the recipe without an item. The cashier over heard me asking about one of the items, although I was pronouncing it wrong, the cashier pronounced it correctly then someone took me to the same isle I had just spent an hour in and took me to the item.

I just bought something there and the cashier is so mean. Eventhough the store is kinda busy they should have atleast have a good customer service.

I love H&L Asian Markets many aisles of Vietnamese, Filipino, Chinese food. The Vietnamese restaurant inhouse is better to eat there rather than out. I wasnt able to take pictures but would definitely go back to this North Charleston grocery.

Lovely Asian grocery store. It reminds me of the big Asian grocery stores in Houston but smaller. I went in there looking for 3 things in particular, kimchi dumplings, bean paste buns, and a wok, found all items on my list and more. We walked out with a cart full of snacks, buns, dumplings, ramen and china. Cool place to shop at if you like oriental food and items.

Love that they have variety. Prices very depending on the product and brand but overall not too bad. The restaurant has delicious food as well. Kids love going as well to get pokey and milky chu chu.

If you need anything, absolutely anything to do with Asian food, this is the end all, be all of shopping destinations around the Charleston area. Fresh fish, exotic produce, and every seasoning my Chinese food loving self could ever want to produce authentic food. The little restaurant they have there is also authentic and delicious. Id recommend it to anyone that loves to cook Chinese at home.
