Im not sure if it was a mistake or they were trying to take advantage of a young woman who knows nothing about cars, but they tried to charge me $250 for a service they didnt do and the prices they told me verbally were lower than what I ended up paying. I felt gaslight when I pointed out the issues.

I am visiting Myrtle beach and my alternator went bad. Auto zone referred me to this auto body shop. I needed it done fast to head back home, so auto zone called on speaker phone to find a shop that could fix it quickly . They told auto zone they could get it in that day. No one called me, I called the next morning and the guy was extremely rude and said it may not even be done for another day. I picked my keys up and went somewhere that fixed it in one hour. Very unprofessional and rude . Will never refer anyone here. To not even call and update me with a time frame when I am pretty much stuck in Myrtle beach .

We have used GT for years for our personal and business vehicles and are quite pleased with their service. Owners and employees have exceptional skills, both technical and interpersonal. GT responds quickly to my needs (and at times they are many) and completes the necessary work in a timely manner. Their prices are fair and fully disclosed prior to repair. I cant imagine using anyone for my auto repair except Larry, Big Dave and the crew at GT.

On vacation when check engine light came on. Found the location based off the wonderful reviews via Google. When I went in, the gentleman up front was unbelievably friendly. They did a diagnostic on my car and discovered the issue, or perhaps, non-issue (the specifics of which were discussed with me). This honesty was something I was not expecting, being 1) I am female 2) on vacation and 3) out of state plates. He advised that the issue did not need to be fixed right away, if at all. He re-set the light and advised that if it comes back on, follow up with a mechanic at home, not to worry about it, and to ENJOY MY VACATION!! I cant even get a mechanic like that at home. Very, very pleased. Highly recommended for honesty.

This is my second time here. About a year ago I took my 2009 Ford Ranger there as no one could fix the heater and AC as they said the dash had to come out. On a recommendation I went to Bruce at GT, and it was fixed without pulling out the dash and also at about half the quoted price that Ford gave me. A local garage with a team that knows their stuff is what I Always look for in a new town.Today I got in to GT when the hurricane soon to arrive and Bruce arranged to get my car in and do the work as we were heading to North Carolina. Very courteous staff and extremely fair and knowledgable. Stay away from the brands who claim to be a good garage and take any vehicle you own to GT. They can do it all.Thank you Bruce for getting me in today.

To anyone with car troubles in Myrtle Beach, this is the place to go. Staff very friendly and efficient. We travel here every year and had a wheel bearing go on the car this year, Larry and Dave took care of me very quickly and at a very reasonable price and checked over my car for the long drive home. They are very honest technicians and only do what is needed for repairs. Thanks again and I can honestly say they are highly recommended. Only wish they were closer as they would be my regular garage.

I am a local and have known the family who owns the business for years. I refer my friends and visitors/tourists to GT Auto Works. Great work done at a fair price. They can do almost any job from a basic oil change to replacing an engine or transmission, on both domestic or foreign cars. A simple oil change can often be done while you wait. They were also up front when they had to tell me on one occasion that I would have to have one job done at a dealership. I have never had a complaint from anyone I have referred to them.

Friendly and helpful. I was visiting North Myrtle Beach and my A/C died. They explained exactly what was wrong and what needed replaced. They were able to fit me in that week, and I took a warranty home with me that is covered anywhere in the nation for 24 months or 24,000 miles. Air conditioner units cost an arm and a leg, but they made everything easy to understand and gave me options as to what could be done. Thanks Dave!

I was wintering in Myrtle Beach when my battery light came on indicating my alternator was probably not charging. Being from out of town, I was looking for a repair facility that was honest and fair. GTs was recommended and I checked the reviews. I tried them and was extremely happy with their customer service and price. I drove the car there and not having a ride back to my house, the manager gave me a ride home. An hour later they informed me the alternator is defective and needs to be replaced. I was quoted a price that was fair and reasonable. They had to order the alternator which took a day to be shipped and when the job was finished I didnt have a ride to pick up my car. They came and picked me up! The price was still the same as quoted. I will take my vehicles there for any future repairs and I would definitely recommend them. Thank you.

I took my Jaquar there when it flooded. They returned it to me w/ none of the panels or hardware put back. I had to take it back several times & it was an awful experience. The folks are nice folks, but the quality of work is just awful. But...to be fair, I gave them another try. I brought my mothers Buick Rainer in to have the AC fan fixed. They fixed it but did not tuck the wires back in. So, when I got it back & turned on the AC, the fan chopped the wires in half & broke it all over again. So I brought it back & they simply saw the broken wires & put electrical tape on them. The fan still does not work 100% of the time & my engine light stays on. I went to NC to get it inspected today & it did not pass inspection b/c the engine light is still on showing fan codes. After countless trips to fix things over & over that were simple fixes, I just can not in good faith bring my car back to this business. Truth is I actually really like the folks working there....but the quality of service will never allow for me to return or refer anyone to them. There was not an option for no star so I gave my experiences a 1 after finally deciding to go elsewhere.

We drove 18 hours to vacation here and when we got close to Myrtle beach, our SUV started acting funny. I looked up auto repair and they had great reviews. When I called, Larry said he would look at it and even picked me up from our condo. They replaced the fuel filter and its running great now! I highly recommend GT Auto!

Ive been living in North Myrtle Beach for 13 years. I have been bringing all my cars (One SUV, three vans and a RV) to GT Auto since we moved here from NY. The bottom line is: They are the best in the area. They do great work,They are honest and always tell me know what is really going on. They are less expensive than the dealership or chain shops. If you area local, they are the best shop in town. If you are visitor and have a problem, dont even think of going elsewhere...they will get you in and back on the road faster than anyone else in town. Yep, locals defer to visitors when we can. I normally dont write reviews but they deserve it.

We were in the area on vacation from Chicago and had a car problem. The Firestone garage recommended GT. The place is fantastic! Very honest and prices are very reasonable. All the staff was very friendly and really cared about their customers. I wish I had a garage like this at home.

The worse time to need car repairs is while on vacation but Larry, his wife and crew helped us over our issue. Our 1995 minivan suddenly needed brake work, and not only did they get us in immediately, they dropped us off and picked us up at Barefoot Landing and charged us a fair price for the repairs. It was like going to our hometown mechanic. Thanks again to the great folks at GT Auto works, it truly was our pleasure.

While on vacation our car developed a gas leak due to a rusted gas filter.Not knowing the area I started to call around and look for a place that could help us out all the shops i called we either to busy or just didnt have time so i found Gt auto works and gave them a call the gentleman on the phone told me to give them some time and bring it buy they had us up and running it about a hour and the price was very reasonable great job guys i would highly recommend this place

Honest people and fair prices. On vacation. from Virginia and when I was hearing noises from my engine....or so I thought. It ended up being my ac compressor clutch. They saved me a lot of stress and time. They got to my vehicle quickly too! Good to know where to come if I have any issues next year!

Very reliable. The mechanics and owner of GT Auto are so honest and very flexible. They do it all, they can finish your oil change in less than 15 mins at a cheap price and even fully restore my Chevy Truck to look beautiful. Best shop on the grand strand. I feel very fortunate to have found a great family owned business that puts people first. After brining my sons suburban in for a front end noise that they quickly diagnosed and repaired . They discovered that the braking system was in need of immediate repair to be safe . (amazing that it was at a chevy garage the week before with no mention of a possible problem).Larry the owner and his crew quickly fixed the problem so I could return the vehicle back to my son and his family so they could return safely home . thanks

On the first day I had an appointment with Larry he was a no show that was Friday midday, I just called at 10:30 mon he wont be in until 11:30 ..If you cant be there hire someone who can run your business already well let us see how this whole thing turns out I will update so far Im not impressed by the employees lack of interest to help me either...tbc..

Exhaust welds are sloppy, and they lack vison for custom work (lack of imagination so to speak). High prices for custom exhaust work. Nice people, genuine staff, but they are not the best. There are better mechanics in town, and way better welders in the area.

I was having trouble with my car. I called GT and they were able to get me right in. They found the problem, called with a estimate and did the repair. When they called to tell me my car was done the cost was less than the estimate. They took the time to show and explain the problem. I would highly recommend them.

Trust Google reviews - I did, and Im glad I did, because all of the positive reviews of GT Auto Works are true. Read on. I was vacationing in Myrtle Beach last week and needed some exhaust work done on my GMC Sierra 2500HD. Since Id be lounging on the beach most of every day, I didnt need the truck so thought it would be a good time to get the work done rather than trying to deal with it at home and find rides to work, etc., but because Im not from Myrtle Beach, I had to find a trusted mechanic. I did some research and found great reviews on GT Auto Works, so I gave them a ring. The business is family owned and operated, and the owner actually answered the phone and talked me through what I wanted to get done to my truck. They found out how long Id be at the beach and immediately found some space in their schedule to make sure they could complete the job before I needed to drive home. For the exhaust work they did, we had a few options, and they worked with me to understand what I valued more - did I want a good job with cheaper parts and I didnt care about the details, or did I want a more detailed job with high end parts and was willing to pay a little more for it? Either way, their rates were very modest - it was really just a question of my preference on volume of customizations and desire to buy high-end racing parts or not. In the end, I went with a more custom solution because these guys do hot-rod work as well (check out their pics on their website).The only complaint Id give is that I wish GT Auto Works had an office in my own hometown, because theyre great people, theyre honest, they treated me like family and met all of my needs like any business should. Thanks for the great work and expect more business from me next summery when Im back for vacation!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - We vacation in North Myrtle Beach and for two years running our 2004 minivan has developed problems during our long drive south. We chose GT Auto Works based on other Google Plus reviews and we delighted with the service - and the work. They fixed diagnosed and repaired our engine issues the first year, and fixed a troublesome seatbelt that two other garages had had a crack at - and failed. (The seatbelt fix was on the house.). This year it was a simple enough problem - an exhaust pipe, but the service was quick, friendly and they offered drop-off and pickup service as part of the deal. My only complaint is that they dont have a garage in our home town. Youre in good, honest hands here - go no further. Thanks Larry!
