Ive been taking drum lessons from Don for about a year now and absolutely love every minute! Hes always super patient and is an excellent teacher. Very comfortable learning environment, especially for someone who came in knowing virtually nothing about drums. I also purchased my current kit from him and am 100% in love with it. Great store, Ive been living in Myrtle for a few years now. I had no idea there was an exclusive Drum store. Don hamrick was very nice and helpful gave me a good deal on what I needed. Finally the top things off he sample the brand new Roland VAD 706. Love this place!

This is the best place for drum supplies and lessons in the area. Don gets to know everyone personally that enters his shop and educates all ages from 3 to 80 (and not just to play a beat, but to read music). Prices are way cheaper than the music stores in myrtle on all percussion, however if you need strings in a pinch, he has those too. By the way, Ive been going there for many years and hes only closed his shop twice for extenuating circumstances which everyone was given advanced notice, so my take on the other guys review is hes never been in this drum center. Perhaps he should give it another try.

Wondered into Dons shop a year ago this week. Spent about 4 hours with him asking every question I had about drums and drumming. I told him the type of set I was looking for and we talked through all the options. I decided to buy a set from him AND to take lessons with him. A year later, I couldnt be happier with all Ive learned. Don is extremely knowledgeable about all things related to drumming: equipment, teaching methods, music theory, nuances of performance, drumming history etc. Ive found Don to be an honest and kind person and Ive had a great time learning from him. Rude, asking my very young son questions (you plan on buying that?) instead of asking me, to the point I thought he was kidding like many shop owners do with kids. I understand it’s his business but basic manners shouldn’t be a hard concept. If there is an adult present, that is who you talk to, not a child.

We met Don and his wife at their store shortly after he opened it. Great folks, so helpful and encouraging to our son, who is now pursuing big league opportunities at 17 years old. We spent a lot but it was worth every penny.

I have been a student of Dons for more than a year. He is a knowledgeable, accomplished, and professional musician offering a great inventory of drum kits and accessories on site and by special order and an outstanding teacher - patient, encouraging, always making the extra effort to help his students and anyone else who walks through the door. And he is a consummate gentleman. I witnessed the incident described by Jared Hensleys review. While I appreciate his right to his perspective, from my perspective, the simple misunderstanding about rescheduling his lesson - no matter who had the wrong time down - could have easily been resolved, and Mr. Hensleys response to the situation was uncalled for and inappropriate, especially given the other customers and students - including a young child - in the store at the time. But thats just my perspective. Stop in to see Don, and come to your own conclusion.

I Am currently taking Lessons and Have been pleased with Don and his style of teaching! He is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to drums and just and all around good guy! Would Highly recommend!And Thanks for everything Don!
