Most of the employees are nice. But, the one that isnt is a direct reflection of poor management. Also, it would be nice on a corporate level if Staples would lower their shipping supply prices. If you can sell me 5 boxes for .56 cents why not sell me one at that price? Thats an old gimmick. Internet is going to put you out of the direct retail sector.
Great customer service, they help you find what you need without hovering over you
I had the worst experience that I have ever had with a store manager in my life! It happened in late August and I will never return to that store as long as that manager is still employed. I am a teacher and I needed 85 composition books for my students. I bought them when they were available, but 32 days later they went on sale for 1/2 price. The manager would not give me the discount so I told him that I would go out to the car to return them and re-buy them. He said that he would absolutely not take them back because it was more than 30 days. I tried to calmly explain that they never left the bag (as it was only August).. He YELLED at me and said it didnt matter. One of his employees apologized several times for his managers behavior. The employee said he was embarrassed by what he had just witnessed. I hopped in the car, drove to Westfields Staples and got my refund immediately. They too apologized for the attitude and behavior of that manager. Because of Westfields willingness to give me a refund under these circumstances, I have since purchased a laptop, a gps and several office supplies equaling several hundred dollars. It is a shame the manager at Northampton could not see the big picture of his actions. I hope the corporate people will.
I bought a new laptop and discovered that it was faulty within an hour of purchase. Unfortunately, an hour was more than enough time for my spouse to toss the packaging in with the rest of the trash and take it to the transfer station. Ben Ware, their new and tediously smug assistant manager refused to deal with the problem and insisted that it was a Toshiba issue. I shall NEVER use Staples again and will recommend to anyone that will listen that they do the same.
PROS: Pens, paper clips -- you know how it is. You gots to get your Uniball on. You can ship things!CONS: Vague sadness permeates entire affair.
