Hands down, this the best shoe store in the area — not just Norwalk/Westport, but in CT. Two reasons: 1) the two brothers that own it have been in the shoe business for over 50 years. They know everything there is to know about quality footware and it’s manufacture. They can detail the elements in a lasting sole, stitching, welts, vamps, type of leather, you name it…welcoming, laid back, and expert; and 2) Alden shoes. Simply the best US shoe and boot made, bar none. British designed and handmade in Massachusetts, these shoes last a lifetime — for real. Yes, they’re expensive, but they are worth it. I have some cordovan loafers that I bought from Shoemart back in 1980 at their old location, and they are still fresh. The store carries Cole Haan and Johnston & Murphy, but those shoes pale compared to Aldens. And what’s also excellent is their inventory of wides and other sizes. As a guy who can only wear wides, it is near impossible to walk in off the street and buy fashionable and durable shoes in wides. You can do that at this store. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

VERY POOR QUALITY PRODUCT & SERVICEShoe Mart Olukai slippers tore at the heel after just one week. At first Shoe Mart would not stand by their product and denied my request to replace the defective slippers. After not backing down, Shoe Mart finally agreed to replace the defective slippers, but after waiting over 2 weeks for replacement slippers, the slippers sent to me were the incorrect style. Shoe Mart offered NO apology, and left me with no slippers at the start of winter. Looking at other reviews, I now question the authenticity of Shoe Marts products. Shoe Mart failed in both quality of product and the complete lack of quality in customer service.

After having the wrong item shipped (not their fault at all, it was the manufacturer), they shipped the right pair direct from their warehouse, at the same discount, and got it to me in 2 days just in time for the event I was attending. The manager was extremely understanding, and handled my issue with courtesy and professionalism. I will definitely shop here again!

When I first saw the Alden Indys on an airplane, I knew I needed a pair. Very expensive, but worth every penny. Loved the boots, and had a small issue with them, I was blown away at how awesome the service has been. They took care of everything quickly and at no cost! Dylan and Ed were awesome every step of the way, and confirmed that the investment was more than worth it!

I purchased a pair of shoes that did not fit, so I submitted for an exchange. The Shoe Mart approved the exchange rather than a refund. I was pumped it was that easy. However, it was not an exchange I received. Without any notification they just issued a refund and kept the $7.99 restocking fee even though I had previously been told I’d just get the size exchange. The biggest problem is that I bought these shoes a month prior using a credit card gift card. So when they issued a refund without alerting me, they refunded a gift card that I am no longer in possession of. When I asked for them to retract that refund and issue a store credit, I was told I was out of luck. Nothing could be done. I went back and forth with Dylan from customer service who was not helpful in anyway. A too bad, so sad attitude. Told me there was nothing they could do since they’d already given up the funds. I called in multiple times to get someone on the phone and no one answers. I also asked for Dylan to call me and he refused. I asked another 3-4 times for them to look into their system a bit further to provide the full credit card number so I could contact the credit card company and they said they didn’t have access to that information. I followed up 2 more times and they quit responding. I find it very hard to believe that a company that has been in business for over 60 years has no access to credit cards that were used to purchase their product. I also think it’s absolutely ridiculous that because of YOUR MISTAKE I am out over $100 rather than doing the right thing and youR company biting the bullet and just providing the store credit. Will never use Shoe Mart again and will let me friends know not to either.

I’ve been a shoe addict since before I could walk. I discovered The Shoemart in 1986 and after 150 pair of shoes I still go back. There is no shoe store I have ever seen that is their equal. Knowledge, Value and Selection is extraordinary.

An excellent prices on very fine shoes. The fit of the shoes I purchased online is, as always, perfect with Alden shoes built on the Barrie last. I especially like the plantation rubber sole because it provides a softer feel for walking on hard surfaces. Although this pair was a factory second, I cannot find any imperfection that explains to me the reason that it was so classified.My wife and I also recently visited the new location of The Shoe Mart brick and mortar store. The attention that Joe Zapatka gives his customers at The Shoe Mart is extremely helpful, and unlike most salespeople in department stores and discount shoe stores, he really knows how to fit shoes and takes the time to ensure that the fit is right for the customer. We purchased three pairs of shoes on this visit, and I am happy with all of them. I will continue to buy shoes online from The Shoe Mart and will visit the store as often as possible. Although I live about 200 miles away, it is worth the trip. I would recommend The Shoe Mart to anybody who recognizes that good shoes are an investment, not simply an expense season-to-season.

Ordered shoe in one size, a different size was sent. Instead of shipping the correct size shoe, the shoe mart wanted me to repackage and ship the original shoe, wait 30 days for a refund then reorder the shoe I already ordered. Kooky system, waste of time at best, possible fraudulent at worst. At any rate BUYER BEWARE!

I love this place. Always outstanding service and attention to detail. No customer is more important than another. Even if the shoes you are buying arent that expensive, youre treated the same as if you were buying expensive ones. That was my experience anyway.

Fantastic! Do not be fooled by the exterior. Inside, this store is amazing and well-stocked, especially if you need shoes in odd sizes. My husband is typically resigned to searching a store for a half hour to find shoes that may fit and then buying a pair if he can cram his feet into it. Our salesman, George, was knowledgeable, confident, and extremely helpful. My husband wasnt used to this level of service, but George quickly found a selection of shoes in his size and helped him try them on. He fell in love with several pairs that fit him better than any hes worn in years. Prices are not cheap, but worth it to find shoes that fit comfortably in such an extreme size. We will return!

I scoured the internet for a possible deal on an upper end pair of shoes; after dozens of websites The Shoe Mart, with a coupon, gave me the shoes for a price that wiped everybody else out. Had some trouble with the billing address but I called them up and they congenially handled it with tact. I am impressed, would definitely use again.

Im a Canadian customer who was lucky enough to be able to purchase some beautiful Alden boots and a pair of J. C. Cole Galways. George was very helpful checking stock and arranging the shipping to a location in the US where I was on business. Thank you very much George! The American made Aldens did not disappoint and the Coles quite frankly are a very nice shoe for the money. They may be made off shore but the materials and build are excellent. For other on-line shoppers I wear a 10 in sports shoes, 10 D in Redwings and 10 D was size on for me in the Aldens and Coles. Ill be purchasing from The Shoe Mart again!

Ordered Alden men, Penny Loafer >$500 pair of shoes, after 6 months of walking in them, the shoes wore off prematurely, the tips of the shoes were torn off and owner was not interested in replacement or refund. Its unacceptable to sell and not replace shoes of such low quality.

Double disappointment! Like others this was not the worst experience, but I will not shop at Shoemart again. I ordered two pairs of shoes, both to give as gifts. One pair was expensive dress shoes and one pair casual boat shoes, both pairs received were slightly defective. Shipping speed was excellent and both pairs were delivered by FedEx within the week that I placed the order, unfortunately the second pair was delivered on an extremely rainy day and, although I was home, the deliverer did not ring the doorbell, nor was the box protected in anyway from the pouring rain. So, I am disappointed in the common sense of FedEx too. All shoes are returnable/refundable minus the shipping fee which I am still hoping to get back from Shoemart given the defects. At least the quick delivery gave me time to make alternate purchases from another vendor.

Love my shoes! I recently won a local CrossFit competition that The Shoemart sponsored and was so excited to hear that the winning team won new shoes from them! I selected the Inov8 Roadclaw 275 sneakers and they have been wonderful for my feet and are super comfortable. Thanks for supporting local CrossFits Shoemart!

When you sell someone a $580 pair of shoes you might want to consider including some kind of cardboard shoe trees with them, or at least a small plastic shoe horn, in case the customer is travelling with them.

Zero stars for theshoemart dot com. Do not buy from this place if there is any chance that you will need to return the shoes. - I bought a $120 pair of Cole Haan shoes. - They were too tight across the top of my feet. - I returned the shoes via their RMA return process. - I never got a refund, so I waited the 10 business days they claim for processing returns. - I called them on business day 11, and the customer service reps lied to me on the phone. They claimed to have sent me a message on why they couldnt refund my money. - Lie #1 - When I asked for the email they said to have sent, they couldnt produce it. - Lie #2 - I asked for a refund and they said they couldnt give me an exchange or a refund (everyone knows they just return shoes to the manufacturer for a credit). - Lie #3 - They called me back and offered me a 1 time exchange, but a refund was impossible.So, I filed a dispute/claim with Paypal (luckily I purchased through Paypal) - Paypal reviewed the issues from both sides. - Lie #4 - theshoemart dot com stated through the Paypal dispute they could do a 1 time refund of $66 on the $120 purchase. What a total lie - they could have made a full refund. The customer service department (which consists of 2 people) will talk down to you and continually lie to you about how the only thing they can do is send the shoes you dont want, back to you. They will act like they are doing you a favor in sending you back the shoes you dont want. Paypal reviewed my dispute and gave me a full refund. Never ever buy from this place. Cheers & good luck in buying your new shoes from Zappos or Amazon!

I bought my Shoes on a Wed and paid extra for overnight shipping. I thought Friday at latest and my event was Saturday. I got them Late Monday!!! Then when I called to see if I could get a credit on the shipping they said no.

Horrible customer service. The $550 shoes didnt last 6 months, and no refund or replacement was offered. The owner accused me of misusing the shoes, and that these shoes are not for walking??????????????

Ordered some wallabees through shoe mart had to return the first pair because one of the shoes had a defect and just got my second pair and it looks like one of the shoes has been worn already never messing with this place again!!!!
