My husband and I completed the basic firearms safety course as part of the process to obtain pistol permits, and were more than pleased with the experience! The class was engaging and provided a very positive, encouraging environment designed for all learning styles. Frequent breaks were given in consideration of fresh air without masks outdoors and the general leg stretch as well as an ample lunch break.By the time we were ready for the range I was feeling secure about the assistance available to me as well as being prepped appropriately to handle a firearm. I knew I could ask anything and get a solid answer with visual examples. Ill be really honest... I wasnt sure about how Id actually feel once the time came before taking the class, but when it was my turn I wasnt afraid, and my instructor was incredibly detailed, patient and more than competent in guiding me. All the instructors are impressively qualified and conduct themselves very professionally at all times.Our class took place 2 weeks from booking. I plan to take advantage of continued education here as well as bringing my business for purchases in the future.Big thanks!!

I really enjoyed taking this class. The instructors are awesome! I didnt know what to expect and Ive never used a real firearm before, but I left feeling comfortable handling one and with a significantly better understanding of what it means to own one. Thank you guys!

Eastern CT firearms with owner/instructor Rob was a good place to start you on your path to being a firearms permit holder. Rob is also a notary public which makes the process a little easier. Keep in mind Further training is a must for this hobby. Have fun on your journey.

My wife and I took our course there back in june 2020. Went there to get an ar build, the guy behind the counter took my phone number and said hell call in a week havent heard a thing from them and that was back in October 2020!

I took this course a little while ago, this is MY firsthand experience. This place is an embarrassment! After seeing the most recent post from JMF17004 and how this particular person thinks there is NO BETTER course available I NEED to speak up. Posting the hand drawn bullseye and all 3 shots missing? Ultimately great service from the owner and his colleague on my FFL transfer. Its clear he runs the shop out of passion for our 2nd amendment and is not in it for the money. Limited hours especially with COVID-19 and he has a full time job on top of the business. When ammunition becomes available from the manufacturers I will definitely come back to help support this business. They even threw in some extras for me at no charge for my first firearm which was not expected. Thank you again and stay safe especially in the current pandemic!

Wish negative stars was a thing. This class is uneducational, with poor instruction. You are just a number. The owner joked about how this class is just about money to pay for his numerious children. The instructor is clearly inconvienced be people who dont quite understand the class. . You only touch a gun once, when go in their weird back room range and they put the weapon in your hand to you shoot 5 times. AVOID THIS CLASS

I’m not one to leave bad reviews, however I am extremely frustrated with the reliability of the hours open at this place. Weekends are usually fine but weekdays youre lucky to catch it open after 4:00pm. The way I see it is that if your website states that you’re open then you should be trusted to be open. I know there are circumstances that can change those hours and whatnot and calling ahead is recommended. What lead me to my frustration is that I did call ahead and stated I will be here a 4:00pm and confirmed that they would be open at that time, when I did show up no one was here and the place was locked up. I have been trying for weeks to get my ammo just to be greeted with closed doors. Communication with customers must be improved..

Just completed the pistol course. Excellent class, I thought there wasnt going to be anything new I was going to learn. Surprise I learned more than I though I would. Everyone should take this course. You would be surprised what you dont know. Instructors are excellent and keep you interested in the class. Very helpful and knowin the moment thats why 2 stars. Dont order a firearm here though. They give you a date it will be in. It doesnt come in. You call the next day and are told there is no shipping or tracking information and the gun is not located. Then said I will follow up with you the following business day no follow up. Disputed charge. Owner calls 5 days later saying its been in for more than a week and we left a message. Nice try. Show me where I signed for a no cancellation policy. Not to be an a$$ but you flat out lied on the phone saying its been in for way more than a week. The earliest you said it would be in when I purchased was 3 days after purchase and that was a week and a half ago. I have already printed my phone statement for the CC Co and none of your numbers are on there. I dont like liars. Just admit your team dropped the ball or it took longer than expected.

I recently took the course at Eastern Connecticut Firearms to obtain my Connecticut State Pistol Permit. Robert Guest is an extremely knowledgeable instructor with almost two decades of experience in the United States Marine Corps. Even though Ive been shooting for many years, I learned new things in his class and he helped me gain confidence at the range. Ill be back for coaching at the range and gunsmithing. Highly recommend!

Fantastic course, with very real and very informational instructors. Just had our course yesterday and all of us were offered a chance to, after we get our licenses, come back in and sit down and learn all about the firearm we may choose, how it works, how to clean it, how best to learn and care about our firearm. These guys are great and have 100% earned my business. Highly recommend

I can’t say enough good things about this place. They treated me with decency and respect from the beginning with outstanding customer service. I was only able to pay $300 down for a gun that cost about $500. I told them that I would have the rest of the money the following week. Over the weekend I decided I wanted a stainless finish rather than a blued finish, so I called them up. It turns out that the owner was on his way driving to Springfield armory just so I wouldn’t have to wait for shipping when I called. He worked it out with Springfield and called me back immediately. Mind also that this was the shop owner and it was an hour before he opened and that he was using his own personal phone.

Have to say the guys were great for the class but went to purchase some handguns only to find them not open when they were supposed to be after driving better than a half an hour to get there left a message on their answering service only to get no reply for days and days. Wanted to spend my money with the guys that help me get the permit but I guess Ill spend it somewhere else.

They had the best price in the state or on-line for the gun I was looking for. He also gave me a very fair deal on my trade in. I ordered my gun in the afternoon and it was there the next morning. Great place to do business with!

I highly recommend this course if you are applying for you CT pistol permit and are looking to be a a safe and responsible gun owner.
