Cute small locals place. Style: old diner/soda fountain. They dont make places like this anymore. These places have just survived in todays chain food world. Need to keep them going. Food was yummy. Waitress was busy, but friendly and attentive. Homemade cinnamon roll was melt in your mouth delicious #buylocal

Love everything about this place! Service and food are always spot on! The sausage gravy and biscuits are so good. I especially love how the waitresses socialize with the customers and each other. You dont see them on their cell phones in between but actually talking to people, even laughing and having a good time. Always a 5 star experience!

Great experience for our kids as you just don’t find places like this in the world today! Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal and the milk shakes and carrot cake for an after meal treat. Service was friendly and attentive despite the crowd. Definitely will be back again when we visit the area in the future.

Fun thrift shop and lunch counter (and one of the few spots open on Sundays). Good service and good, basic diner food. I had a real milkshake, sandwich and scratch cinnamon roll for less than $12. The store part was fun to wonder around.

We shared the buckwheat pancakes out of curiosity. They were delicious; a little sweet/nutty flavor and nicely done. The coffee is best avoided, but the service is top notch. For fun, we tried the Chocolate espresso milkshake. **Fabulous**simply fabulous. Its an old-fashioned icecream treat with real icecream and real milk. I dare you to try and finish it by yourself in one sitting.

Moved to West Virginia in November and found Englanders on a visit to Oakland Md.Basic but excellent menu, service was very good. The staff pitched in and helped each other clear tables when needed. Smiles were aplenty and reminded me of times long ago. The experience was a step back in time, price is exceptional.Antique store was also a pleasure.If youre in the area stop in you wont be disappointed.

We came to Garrett County from the DC area to enjoy the snow for my birthday, and decided to grab lunch at this small town grill that advertised a soda fountain. I told the server Id never had a soda, and told her I was going to order one for my birthday. She brought out an amazing chocolate soda--with a birthday candle! When we finished eating she said, Its on us. Happy birthday! She gave me a wonderful birthday memory...and they really deserve a wonderful review!

When we visit Oakland in Garrett County, MD where I grew up, it’s our tradition to eat breakfast/brunch at Englander’s. We love the buckwheat cakes and the kind service we receive.

Staying at Deep Creek Lake, we stopped by here after a wonderful hike in a local state park. The antiques are fun, but the diner/old timey luncheon counter is the best reason to stop by. Nothing fancy just basic well prepared diner food, with really affordable prices. I loved the Club sandwich added the tater tots. The tots were perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Wife enjoyed a perfect BLT. Staff are helpful and kind.

This is a consignment store thats full of other peoples old junk being sold. the soda fountain in the back is really just a lunch counter theres no soda fountain unfortunately its a junk store.

Cute place with thousands of trinkets to look at and admire. Found a book that over 100 years old and in great condition! Definitely worth checking out.

Interesting antique shop with a small food area in the back. I did think it was odd that they advertise the food area as Dotties Fountain Grill but the soda fountain is the same as what you would find in a place such as Subway. With that being said, they were willing to add some grenadine to a Sprite for us (Shirley Temple) but so are a lot of other places. The old soda fountain is clearly visible but no longer operational.

Love this place. All kinds of antiques tucked into each and every little corner and a fantastic old style soda fountain in the back with great food.

Ive been here twice. Its fun if a little claustrophobic and occasionally you get the kind of anti-tourist vibe usually reserved for New England, but theres tons of cool stuff to look at. Although Ive never eaten there the diner is always packed with locals, so theres something popular about the food and or service.

Nice place to wonder around in and found some wonderful things to bring home. Stop in to eat and shop!

This IS a local gem run by Dottie. This place doesnt seem like much but has the Best food. All food is fresh daily. If you ever wanted to try buckwheat cakes you wont find better. Homemade vegetable soup daily and fresh made hamburgers. All this in an antique store with a old fashioned breakfast and lunch. Be warned that they close at 3:00 pm.

Definitely a nice way to revisit your childhood lunch counter memories. Dont be in a hurry. After all, if your not a local, you are on vacation. The western omelet is delicious. They dont skimp on the bacon. Seeing a child spin around on the counter stools brought back memories of doing the same thing. If it wasnt for my big stomach keeping me from doing a full 360, I may have given it a go.
