JT is absolutely the best person to work with. He found a great folding boat that hadn’t been inventoried for my girlfriend and I, and called later when one of his friends had another for sale! He also sets up people kayaking together out of the shop.

This review is ages late, but I am finally getting around to sharing what a lovely time we had. The guided kayaking tour was a gift for two close friends who were visited last year, and it was just perfect. From determining which date to choose to the payment to the guided tour and afterwards, our guide (Su, I think his name was) was extraordinarily calm, gentle, full of vitality, and funny. I live in Oakland and look forward to bringing many more friends here in the future. Thanks so much for making our day memorable.

Great selection of equipment and classes. If you meet the owners Tammy or Keith, please say hi for me. They are the best. Rent a Hobie Board!! Id never tried anything like it and ended up having a great time. Its a board that you stand on in the water but you can pedal it like a bike and steer with the handles. So easy and fun!!

We booked our kayaking for beginners class during corona outbreak. Sou made sure to keep us in the loop about when the class would happen, looking at the weather conditions etc.He presented material in a way that worked both for us and the kids, and we never felt rushed or under strain during the activity.I would recommend them for all the classes!

My family and I just stepped in, and no one helped us. A girl at some point greeted us, but don’t ask if we had any Questions. I’ve always visited Jack London and I’ve been interested in renting or even buying gear, but now I just won’t buy it from here. I get it they are right there in the middle of everything, but as a business you should still want clients and have good service. I’ll just go on Amazon and Google for my Kayak/Canoe needs. I only gave them 2 stars because they seemed to be fully stocked and had just about everything, could have potential in the future.

Probably the best employees in the world. They are not trying to over sell their products. They simply tell it like it is and leave you to a decision. The biggest bunch of people. Awesome store. Great location. All around great place to rent or buy your next kayak!

Great store. Helpful staff but not pushy. Over the last few years Ive purchased a kayak, paddles, pfd, wetsuit, parts and safety gear from CCK and their prices are in line with the industry and the internet. And you get to pick the brain of people who actually kayak - priceless! When I bought my first kayak several years ago from CCK, they let me do a test drive out in the estuary, then when I purchased one, they carried it to my car and gave me instructions on loading and securing the kayak to my roof rack. Compare that to my friend who went to a big box store for a kayak. He dropped it on his car while attempting to load it by himself. Make it an easy experience and shop at CCK.

Great experience! I had a one-on-one session with their instructor Matt. We went out to Pillar Point and spent the day working on my kayak surfing skills. I learned a lot and by the end of the day was very confident on the water both in surfing and self-rescue. Highly recommended and certainly something paddlers of any level could get something from.

Went on the Sea Kayak class today, had a very fun lesson led by Kati on the estuary. The sheila is a wonderful teacher and Im very happy she helped make my first paddilong experience so wonderful. I hope to brave the waves and wakes soon once again!

Canoe. Its in the name of the shop, but dont expect to find any in the store. The sales guy said well most people who Say they want a canoe actually want a kayak. Ok guys just tell me how you really feel.

The merchandise might be okay, but the man running the place today made fun of a dying pelican with a broken wing that was around the corner from the store. I just wanted to buy a pair of sunglasses but that guys weird heartlessness made me go somewhere else.

Great staff, decent pricing, and a fun spot to kayak around for a little while! They dont take reservations but we had no issue getting eight people in boats for an hour.

Great intro SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) lesson with Sylvlia at California Canoe & Kayak. The three-hour lesson equipped us with the skills and confidence to go SUPing on our own. Thank you Sylvia and CCK for a great experience!P.S. Best parking is in the parking garage across the street from the movie theater on Broadway.

Three friends and I took the Kayak Basics class and had a great time. Jasper, our instructor/guide was awesome and added to a very positive experience. The kayaks and equipment were in very good shape and they had the right size kayak for everyone.We all agreed that we got good value for our money. Everyone in the group has said they want to do it again.Frankly, its refreshing to find a place like CCK that does it right. I hope that our next experience with them is as good as our last one.Thanks to everyone at CCK for a great experience. That goes double for Jasper.Note: Parking in the area can be hard to find. There is a parking garage just a few steps from CCK but be prepared to spend up to $15 for your stay.

Quick service, but pricey.

Told me I could rent a kayak “no problem” but then when I showed up told me I couldn’t.
