Came here to get an ice coffee after I went to another coffee place & they decided having a 5 minute conversation (that wasnt even about the service) with a customer (even after their order was complete) meanwhile there are people waiting in line and the line getting longer.Friendly staff good coffee
Great service, great coffee, warm and welcoming. One of my favorites in the Laurel District. So happy to see they are still here after this last year and a half.
Great food & coffee - love that its locally sourced where possible! Service was lovely too.music was low and calm.
When looking at the menu it’s standard cafe fare.Food is executed well.Drinks are delicious. My top 2 favorites are the lavender latte and the Masala chia.Pastries are well baked and always 🤤The cafe itself serves a homely vibe with lots of art and Knick knacks a plenty to pursue with your eyes.Owner is hardworking and obviously cares about his business.10/10 please support this business. You will not regret it
Nice space to sit and enjoy coffee (once we are through covid). Good stop for to-go coffee, pastries, and beans.
Best oakland coffee especially the cold brew 😋
Glad World Grounds is still here in the Laurel. Yummy bakery, sammis and coffee drinks, they even have wine!
Great pastries, great chai, their own recipes. Great service. Top drawer.
Amazing food and drinks. plus they’re fast and I’ve always been going here and there for a long time now, but lately I’ve been trying a lot of the food and now go often :)
Amazing food. Healthy and delicious. Once you try you will be back.
The coffee is delicious and morning snacks are bomb!!
If this is the place that used to be on 3rd near Jack London Square, then it gets 5 stars! I miss this place. My brother and I ate the turkey sandwich at least 4 times a week and I have yet to find a better sandwich anywhere!
Was there when they first opened, great coffee, food and service. Go. Enjoy.
Great food (especially bagels and salads), not so great tasting coffee.. unless its made by the gentle giant (Im sorry I dont know your name 😬), he makes a pretty mean latte. In the past service has been unfortunately poor but they have recently stepped up their game. I love the art and there is always seating available so its a win if youre wanting to work on a project/study.
Great coffee. Fresh pastries
I take my coffee with unsweetened non dairy milk. I really despise added sugar in milk. This means I hardly ever get to have coffee outside my house bc all coffee shops ever carry is Original non-dairy milks - aka lots of added sugar. This shop has unsweeted - vanilla (even better - non dairy milk. So happy!
Food and espresso hit and miss. Depends on staff and how crowded. The breakfast panini is extra delicious. Pastries baked fresh are also yummy. The lunch sandwiches are good. There is always interesting art on the walls, the furniture and tables are nice. It is a pleasant place to sit. Dont bring your lap top tho. They were robbed like all the other coffee shops.
Roomy, friendly, comfortable place with great coffee. I tried their breakfast (burrito) for the first time and it was good. My friends loved the bagel with lox.
Great place to hangout and/or get some work down if youre feeling stir crazy at home. Wonderful coffee and smoothies (no limit or additional cost to putting as many flavors as you want into smoothies). Also I love their sandwiches, the prosciutto is delicious. More over the place just a great vibe.
The food and service here were both pretty great. It was a bit hot for me, but as a northerner I suppose I probably should not complain too much.Order the eggplant muffaletta if you can. Excellent stuff.
A neighborhood spot. Good selection of snacks. No booths but lots of tables. Coffee is satisfying. Adequate staff.
World ground is always super friendly and has an abundance of coffee choices. Need some strong coffee in the morning??? Hit up world ground
The egg breakfast items leave more to be desired, but that could be just be me expecting more from a coffee shop. I did see a microwave, and I took that was used to warm up my burrito. My breakfast burrito did come out extremely hot, but Id rather have that over the cold breakfast wraps that I sometimes end up with from Starbucks and their convection ovens. The coffee is good, though I think the chai teas are a bit expensive as they start at around $4.Cleanliness is what I would expect, but that means there is definitely room for improvement. I sat at the high top by the thermostat. There were cracks in the tabletop and that is a perfect home for food crumbs to be pushed into when wiping down the table. The thermostat cover is broken and had a pretty good layer of dust on it.On a previous visit, I did sit at a table and the table did wobble quite a bit.I havent visited in the evening, but they seem to have a bar area that serves beer and wine.Overall, the coffee is good, and its a coffee shop. That makes visiting here for their coffee worth the trip.Tips: Refills are cheap and come with a book to donate. They have a free community library where you take and leave a book.
Their coffee is good and strong. Their food tends to be on the heavier side, though is better than the microwave meals you now get at other coffee places. Their baked goods leave something to be desired, but if youre in a pinch theyre fine.
Coffee quality is excellent but the healthy choices of delicious sandwich is something unexpected. Free WiFi and plenty of places to sit with you tablet or mobile. When in the area is my place to stop and get a quick bite and coffee for sure.
Its a nice place to hang out and talk. Good coffee and bakery.
Coffee was fine, vegetarian sandwich was nice (and really big, I am bringing half home), but it is so noisy here with all the echoing conversations. No one uses inside voices. Im only disappointed because this pace was included on a list of quiet coffee shops, and its really just not.
Great coffee and really good pastries baked onsite! A local gem, run by and employing local folks. They roast and sell their own coffee beans
Great local coffee spot. Pretty chill. I love going on the weekends for their scones. Community loci. Love seeing everyone come through to chill, eat, chat.
Good amount of tables different kinds of seating for the mood that you are in. nice coffee. nice selection of cold drinks. great selection of pastries and sandwiches. staff is nice
Nice local place with simple breakfast choices. Generally has space to study without feeling too bad about staying there for hours that could affect other customers.
Hands down my favorite coffee shop in Oakland. Amazing coffee, great food...wine and very cool owners and employees. This is their first location and its a bit more casual than the 2nd location, near Jack London, which is actually a bit nicer inside. The first is still my favorite though.
Nice place to study and hang out. Free wifi and the coffee is pretty good. The only issue I would have is parking. There is only street parking (meters and free neighborhood parking) but I would be cautious since the area is not absolutely safe. If you have a laptop, make sure you keep it in your bag/back pack (not just holding it around like a book).
Very cozy environment, nice place to meet people for whatever you need but the ice coffee is too sweet for my taste.
There prices are extremely reasonable. The older guy is very informative. He definitely knows his stuff. Hes also very pleasant.
Good coffee, really good baked goods, nice space
Great local coffee spot. great quick ol breakfast options served on authentic bagel also from is oakland. sometimes a bit of a wait here in the morning but love having these guys I the neighborhood.
Its a good place to chill and take a break on this stretch of MacArthur Blvd. Its not what I would call a neat place. The furniture is a bit dingey, and the coffee station leaves much to be desired. (Guys, dirty dishes and exposed trash barrels should go nowhere near the coffee/condiments station.) No one ever smiles there, but theyre still amicable.
There is a lot of potential here, and the quiet and unobtrusiveness definitely has value, and that is 3 stars. Solid. Average. Experience. Solids good.
Good coffee, open early, friendly counter service. Wifi, plenty of comfy seating, and the hidden treasure-a great outside back patio with trees and a few tables. They should have music out there, it would be ideal.
Great white mochas! Nice seating arrangement ! Very friendly staff. I can go and work on my book and not be bothered. What more can you ask for from a cafe in the biggity biggity O! Love yall World Ground!
Love this place. I go every time Im in town. I love the paninis and salads.
Not a great experience. Came here with my dad and we were ignored for probably a good 5 to 10 mins. Then one of the guys working finally said something to us. The service was slow, but at least the sandwiches were good.
Good coffee good sandwiches. Always glad to stop here. A neighborhood landmark.
This place rocks! Great coffee, super-friendly folks serving and real sense of community. All around warm & inviting atmosphere.
Awesome good and drinks. Comfy place to work or just hang out. The staff rock!
A cool local coffee join with decent food and smooth customer service
Really bitter, bad coffee. Really bad food that has zero seasoning.
Great coffee and food good people
Great place to get coffee. Very friendly staff and atmosphere.
Relaxing Good service excellent Paninis and Coffee the staff was Hospitable as well
Great in every way: great coffee and food, good tables for working, also lots of soft chairs and a couch or two, and a secret back area if you need to get serious work done.
Super chill place with excellent coffee and small but delicious cafe menu of sandwiches, salads, pastries, and sometimes soup.
Owner is highly selective on who to be nice to and doesnt care to make you feel welcome even if your nice. He is short tempered and always mubbling under his breath. Aka a little bit prejudice
Local coffee shop. Has good coffee, snacks, breakfast, and beers. Gets pretty busy but the staff is attentive.
Cool vibe, good sandwiches, coffee & smoothies. Nice seating for studying/working, separate areas for more intimate type conversations.
I only come here for the smoothies, and on this particular day I ordered a smoothie, they called it out and as I went and grabbed it, they told me it was someone elses. I apologized and the employees were acting annoyed. You work at a cafe, its not hard to make another smoothie. Like excuse me how was I supposed to know? If I am paying 6 dollars for a smoothie I could make at my home for $2 you better treat me better as a customer. I have called there some times and the employees will answer the phone laughing and they are completely unprofessional.
Low key coffee shop (but looks like may be functioning as a bar at night). Music can be a little quieter.
Love this place. Great meet spot. Great coffee and comfort. Everybody is nice to me.
Good coffee and a nice vibe. Lots of tables in the back if you need to get work done.
Pretty good coffee, lots of food options and a comfortable spot to sit and grind some work. Parking is terrible here in the mornings but once ya get in there its nice
Come and enjoy the comfortable atmosphere where you can read, study or meet.
Great coffee, good food and free wi fi. Everything I need for a great neighborhood spot!!
My kitchen was on the fritz this am and I needed coffee and food. W.g. is in my neighborhood so I decided to try the breakfast panini. Really tasty! I would say I have a pretty healthy appetite and Im still full at lunchtime. A total bargain. Thanks!Ps- people who work in customer service are people first and foremost, maybe your neighbors even. They do not owe you to cater their emotions to you because money has changed hands. Maybe try not to take it personally if someone is displaying a normal human emotion instead of affecting a pleasant mask for 40 hours a week for your benefit.😜
Cute first time there. It was 7:30am.
Quiet space that creates an ambience of being safe, simple and free.
Great community vibe and good affordable food and coffee
Miss my morning cup of coffee and a croissant to go. Nice breakfast too.
The cashier is unbelievable she was great, I came in at 8:30 on May 21st
Cute little cafe! Kassidy is the best!
Cozy, friendly, delicious little coffee house with a full lunch menu.
. They seem to have wi-fi due to all the computers there, but people also go there to get coffee to go or meet up and actually talk over good coffee in the neighborhood. They also have good food and muffins and the like.
Great place to get some work done while enjoying a good cup of coffee or tea. Thankfully, its not the usual corporate experience, just a comfortable, neighborhood hangout.
Coffee is good, food is good but limited, pastries are nothing special.
Nice place. Good stuff.
Great place with free wifi and lota of chairs/desks for studying. Coffee and tea were always good, which makes studying here all the nore better. There are even outlets arpund to charge the electronics!
Total dump..... Should of turned around when I noticed the dirty floor. Got sick from eating here.
Sanctuary of coffee where not much exists. Down home hangout.
Great food
Always smells like cleaning product, employees take forever to acknowledge you, and wifi never works. . .
2 chicken salads that were 80% canned beets, a biscuit with jam, a coke, ice tea and a glass of milk. $60.00. Will never ever EVER recommend anyone to eat there. Nasty and over priced.
Excellent food and service
Loved their breakfast burrito!
Great meeting place very cozy
Great vibe & back space for reading.
Wifi, delicious coffee, great atmosphere.
Quiet, eclectic coffee shop.
Great Paninis
Coffee is bleh -- soy milk was burned -- people are nice but service is slow. Had to wait 20min for a breakfast burrito.
Laurel local hangout. Coworking welcome.
Coffee good
Great neighborhood cafe!!
Great cozy cafe
Great coffee spot
Great food
Cozy, nice staff
Love this place...
