These guys really know their beer! The staff is always so helpful and they have never done me wrong. I like how they offer free brewing classes to get you started. I did and am quite fond of making my own brew now! Best Homebrew and Hydroponics in Oceanside!

Excellent customer service. I am a novice, with my father who has been brewing for a couple years now. Damien attended to us and was fantastic! He gave us tons of info on how to make an IPA correctly. We had a few issues prior and did not know what was causing them, he knew right away. He also invited us to attend their monthly brewing class. I love people who know their trade.

I have been coming to Hydrobrew for 5 years, and have yet to have a bad experience. The staff is always very helpful with recommendations on brewing ingredients and techniques. They routinely carry all but the most exotic/unusual ingredients in stock. The prices are comparable to most web sites (when including shipping), and they offer a military discount! Once I was identified as a regular, the secret ingredients in the back room started appearing for some of my specialty batches (such as herbs that he picked from his moms garden that morning). Easy access using the alley, and plenty of parking at the adjacent train stop. Its clean and safe enough that Im comfortable bringing my toddler with me. They offer brewing classes about once a month on a weekend, which are definitely worth the time for a new homebrewer. I cannot comment on the hydroponics portion of the business, except to say that it seems to be very well stocked with a variety of materials.

Ive always had a good experience when visiting HydroBrew. Theyve got a nice selection of equipment and ingredients for home-brewing and the staff even brews on the premises (outside). So, if youve got any questions as a beginner, these are some knowledgeable people to talk to.

Great shop. They have a variety of supplies for all types of homebrewing and their prices are on par for a brick and mortar merchant. Staff all have a passion for homebrewing and beer, and are eager to help out the wary beginners.

Highly recommend this place, from the customer service on the phone and in store, to the variety of goods, friendly advice/tone, knowledgeable staff, and incredible prices; this place is laid back, super user friendly, and heck they even have beer brewing on the show room floor towards the rear of the building! I went in to buy a couple cases of the 750 mL Belgian Amber Flip top bottles for $28/case; most places sell the 500 mL flip top Belgian bottles for $23-26/case around town, so talk about a deal with no attitude or snobbish,lazy staff that hides behind a computer and has to look up even the basic items up on the computer before they think they know the price. Hydrobrew had some items not found in any other store, if anything, its worth just to ask their opinion and theyll tell you whats recommended, but also some ideas that might work and possibly how to fix it without blowing your entire batch. I had a pure sense of truely knowledgeable and genuine people that give you the sense they care about their customers as well as showing some alternative choices unlike another place down in SD, which I wont mention the name nor ever shop there again.
