Mr Aaron Toler worked for this company many years ago, a very great sheet metal welder and HVAC engineer. “Don’t make like him no more”

I emailed American Refrigeration Heating & Air Conditioning Co explaining the issue I was having with my furnace. Im a pretty handy person and traced the issue to a bad blower motor. That job is a bit out of my league and I needed a professional. They quickly responded with a phone call. They gave me a good quote and worked around my schedule to come perform the repairs. The technician did an excellent job and completed the work quickly. Overall it was an easy process at a fair price. I would recommend them to anyone needing service done to their HVAC system.

Absolutely terrible service, I do NOT recommend. AR does NOT guarantee any of the work they do. My family will not trust this company to work on my home again...During the 2017 summer, lightning struck the transformer outside our house, and thus surged through our home, damaging our central unit. Had AR come out to service it because we had no AC and my wife was 6 months pregnant at the time. AR tech said the control board, thermostat, blower motor, all fried and would need to be replaced. The tech said they could replace the whole unit or repair the parts, to which he suggested to repair the parts... After the insurance claim and the tech did the repairs, I noticed the unit couldnt keep up with the hot temperatures (which it never had that problem before) and was running all day long. So I called them out TWICE more to see why, to which they had no answer.Flash forward a couple months into the fall when we are getting colder temperatures outside and I turn on the heater, only to find out that it doesnt turn on at all... AR comes out again only to find out that the inducer motor, gas valve, fire eye, and a few other parts are ALSO fried... Why wasnt all of this checked previously?? Get the insurance involved again because clearly this whole unit was fried and I do not trust it. Ins says to replace the whole unit, but then to have AR suggest that they can fix it with replacing one part... Three parts later and about another $1.5K, AR left my home and will never come back. Now, next summer when the half-assed AC unit wont keep up, Ill have to come out of pocket because AR didnt replace the whole unit...Allen Smith, this is NOT how you treat your customers.UPDATE (05/02/2018): Its not even really hot so far, and the AC cant keep up; runs all day. Thanks Allen Smith, now I have to come out of pocket to fix this unit.

This company rips customer off. Stay away. My background. I am the end user of refrigeration and ac repair service. And because of these unethical dishonest people, I decided to go to school to learn more about refrigeration and ac. I end up being a certified technician. But ac and refrigeration is not my trade. I was a restaurant and motel owner. I am retired now. But I was called on a walk-in freezer that I am responsible for. The condenser is on the roof has a rusted out dryer. The evaporate coil was frozen up. I am not physically able to pulled freon, nitrogen, torch set, vacuum pump on the roof. So we called American Refrigeration. They sent a Technician who is less able than I am, he is little senior in age than I. The worst of all, he is lazy and unethical. While I was waiting for them to show up, I refilled the unit with 404A, went to supply house to pick up a new dryer and have lunch. At the mean time took the compressor off line and let the fan blow to melt the ice. This technician, let just say his name is Tom showed up, saw the ice was not completely melted tried to put the unit into defrost mode. But he did not know how. He spent more than an hour on the phone with the manufacture technical support to find out how to make it forced defrost.Actually we spent 1 minute to find it on YouTube and put the unit in defrost. When I came back with the dryer, he told me he is not going to fix the leak. He will just make sure the unit was charged correctly with the Freon I furnished. Then he sat in his truck for15 minutes to make out the bill. He charge $129+ dollar for the truck come over. Usually that includes one hour of service or just flip a service breaker. That is reasonable. Got to pay for the gas and driving time. He also charged $200.0 for parts. This service technician did not have knowledge on the control box. He said he is old school. But why the company sent an old school to a business knowing they have up to date new equipment? He spend almost an hour talking to the manufacturer of the control box trying to learn how to put the system into defrost mode. Is the customer suppose to pay for him to learn on the job? Second, there was a leak in the system, he said he only charge it up but refuse to detect where the leak was and fix the leak. Even though we pointed out where the leak was and provide him the part to fix the leak. Finally, he charged us $200.00 for parts that he did not put any parts on the system. We, the customer, furnished the Freon. The technician said that $200.00 charge for the parts was for his labor which should have been covered by the service call. He actually only work on the system about 15 minutes. The rest of the time he was talking on the phone. I caught him only resting on the roof stretching the time when I came back from the parts house getting the part he supposed to put on. Our bill total to $329.00After all, this technician can over charge us knowingly that I have knowledge with refrigeration. Think about what he is going to charge customer who has no clue about refrigeration and air conditioning? This episode happened couple months ago.So guys/gals, stay away!
