I have never had hash that was made without hash browns. Very weird and not that good. Daughter kind of ate her pancakes. The place has cool decor but we had a guy screaming at the tv and drinking at 930am. The cook yelled at the server to come get the food out of the window. The whole experience was a bit lacking.
I love eating here. Really nothing but good experiences here. Feels similar to a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed visiting.
Simple tasty breakfast. Their bacon is unlike any youll find. Its sweet, crispy, savory and just delicious.Youll often have to wait as the seating is pretty limited. The omelettes are quite good and I hear (havent tried yet) that the biscuits and gravy are worth getting again and again... Try it out, its certainly a different experience than a Village Inn or Perkins.
Had the most wonderful experience this cold rainy morning. Walked 4 blocks from my hotel to be greeted with a delicious hot cup of coffee. While I waited for my to go order the sweetest man brought me a slice of bacon to try. It was unlike any i have ever had. Outstanding. The food was delicious and these folks really made my day.
Absolutely delicious food. Fun atmosphere and friendly service. It was super packed when we came(with a group of 11 to boot) so service was a little slow but forgivable. The food was worth the wait anyway. Definitely recommend!
This dinner is cool with good food and really friendly staff. Like other reviews say, the atmosphere is really nice and it will bring you some old memories of other similar places you had been, I can see that. Food is delicious and the service was fast for a good price. Sadly, the city of Omaha will demolish this place to build next year a hotel... =( but The Diner is moving to a new location so, not everything is lost. Give it a try before they move.
This was a hidden gem when my family and I visited Omaha! This is a very family friendly place to eat! I have a two year old daughter so we needed a family friendly place to eat that was great on prices and toddler friendly. The staff was amazing! everyone was very friendly and helpful! We ordered the biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and BLT. Everyone has happy plates! Even my picky eater toddler ate all of her pancake! The biscuits and gravy were out of this world delicious! And that is coming from someone who is not the biggest fan of the old classic B&G. I had the BLT and it was very satisfying and the bacon was just right! They also made their own potato chips that went perfect with my BLT! The veggies on my BLT were also very tasty and fresh! The location of the Diner is also a plus! After we stuffed our faces we got to take the opportunity to explore the market! We loved everything about this place! and will be back when we come to Omaha again!
Classic diner. Stools at the counter, booths at the windows. Small, cozy and seat yourself.Best bacon Ive had. Baked with maple syrup and brown sugar. Wow.Nice vibe and decent value on the prices.
Fantastic food in a great environment. My wife and I went out to brunch with some friends for her birthday. The food was very good for the price, and the 50s diner feel was perfect for the occasion. The food was favorably priced and the portions larger than I expected for the price. Service was impeccable.
The Diner lives here now, and the menu and food are unchanged, which is great. Billy Froggs is just not the same as the old building - it is dark and cold. When I was in there on an 85 degree day the AC was set so low that my sandwich was cold before I could finish eating it. The old diner was warm and full of light. This place is like eating in a cave.
The staff was awesome and the place is so cute! Definitely your typical diner. Excellent food and always hot coffee since they fill it constantly! My husband and I were in town briefly and stumbled upon this place by accident. Great find!
I love the feel of this place. Go back in time with the music and the overall ambiance. The service is spectacular. The red and green chili are a must try for lunch! Such a cozy and relaxed experience. Sit at the bar or pick a booth! The coffee is drip and so so tasty!
Better hurry... Theyre going to tear this place down someday soon, and put up a hotel in its place. Good food and friendly service. UPDATE: They closed the Diner and moved the operation to a nearby restaurant, Billy Frogs. Havent been there yet, so I cant speak to whether the food and service has changed or not.
Best Eggs Benedict and Mimosa Ive ever had! Usually I hate the sauce restaurants use on their eggs, but theirs was delicious. And the mimosa here wasnt acetic or sour at all, it was called a fuzzy mimosa and it was fantastic. My husband kept stealing sips from my glass. Will definitely eat here again.
A slice of Americana. A nice cafe where you can get a decent breakfast or lunch. Good simple dinner fare and great service. I always enjoy sitting down and having a meal at gems like these.
Fantastic food! The French toast tasted so great! I defs recommend getting the bacon, I cant even put it into words! The service was so friendly & just talked and checked up on us when necessary! I really appreciated it! If your looking for a place to go on a cute breakfast date or just in town this is a must stop! Love it!
Ive only ever been to the Diner for breakfast, but each time I leave more and more impressed! Down-to-earth, friendly, mom & pop shop vibe and service. MUCH better food than youll get at a chain. Usually there is a crowd, but weve always found seating within 5 minutes. Nice alternative to the usually swamped 11-Worth Cafe. 10 minute drive from airport.
This place no longer exists.
Visited for lunch during Omaha trip 5/22/16 after hearing about their tasty bacon. The Diner didnt disappoint! I had the chicken fried steak with toast, hashbrowns, and I substituted bacon instead of eggs. Holy sweet and salty marriage of wonder in my mouth bacon. Everything was good (oh the coffee, yum) but I seriously could have camped for days just eating their bacon.
Good food and fair prices. The French Toast was pretty good. Cool old diner and really neat location tucked in amongst larger buildings.
Wow this place is super gay friendly! I love it. I always stop by here when I am traveling through for business trips. They always take care of all my breakfast or lunch needs. Awesome servers and staff.
I mean, it used to be good. Now there are unreasonably long wait times for food that, honestly isnt worth waiting for. Dont recommend it.
I loved it so much. It has a great atmosphere and amazing food. I recomend getting there 15 min early so that you can get in line cause this place is amazing!!!
Ate here 2 days in a row and its cozy the food is hot and delicious and the service is pretty good. Love the old diner style atmosphere. Would recommend to everyone,!
The service was incredibly slow for only three tables. The food is basically greasy diner quality. Much better offerings in the same area.
The new home for The Diner is a relief. Same great food just in a new atmosphere. Some of the new staff surprised me as did that theres a bar accessible now. But the whole staff is doing great work providing such an inviting place.
Best service and food I have encountered in omaha in months. My husband and I like to try new restaurants every weekend and we stumbled upon this one on our way home. Service was absolutely amazing, the omelette and the roasted beef hash was unreal. Our waiter made sure we felt at home and although they were busy, we did not have to wait long for our food. Truly recommended from two very picky eaters.
Great food, friendly service, and fair price. Pancakes, corned beef hash, and biscuits & gravy were all excellent. If we’re in Omaha again we’ll definitely eat here for breakfast.
Wish I could rate this place off of the food, but I cant. Waitress wasnt following the order of people coming in... I gave up our spot to a table of 4 so Im assuming the manager hooked up with with a free mimosa as a thank you. After waiting 20 minutes for a table the waitress couldnt ask who was next and seated a top of 3 who came in after us...I had time to finish my drink standing up, so thanks for the free drink. I felt it pretty quickly since I had not eaten all morning.
The Diner is such a fun place to eat. The owners are very kind and the service is superb. Plus they always had our cups full of coffee! Definitely plan to return next time were in Omaha.
Not one time have I had bad food here! Everything is great, including the staff and the atmosphere. If theres a wait, wait! I promise itll be worth it!
Finally made it in to eat here after meeting the owners. I loved it. They had great service and their food was spot on. Plan on going back for seconds.
If you like a mom and pop atmosphere, this is a nice place. Make sure you get bacon if you visit. Huge sliced and seasoned on site. Wait staff is friendly and pointed me to a few other local spots for eats.
Great place to eat. Go there every few weeks for breakfast. Service is great and the people are very friendly.
Super busy on Sunday morning. Waited at the door for at least 15 min for a seat at the counter. Took another twenty to get our breakfast but it was very good. It was my first time to visit despite living in Omaha for over 20 years.
The Diner is awesome. The food and staff are great. Very down-home menu with delicious options!
Weve stopped by here each time weve visited Omaha... but after learning they may close soon, we stopped by twice in the same weekend. Great memories of rainy days, grilled cheese sandwiches and sweet bacon.
This place is an excellent place to eat. Make sure to ask about Java Daddies. They do catering for any occasion.
Good dinner for breakfast. Took some time for the food to come out, so dont be in a rush. Good ambiance.
This is an amazing diner! Exceptional service, ambiance, and of course food!! It is a dont-miss experience during your time in Omaha.
Why does this place have so many good reviews It took 45 minutes just to get a table. They didnt even have seats for us to sit in while waiting. The bathrooms stank like heck. When we finally sat down it took 10 minutes to ask what we want to drink. We finally got our drinks. We were thinking maybe the food would make up for the crappy experience. We were wrong. I ordered a egg sandwich. I was so small. I ate it so quickly and was still hungry. So was my family. So hungry we got subway after and ate it all. Lastly the food came up to 70 dollars. I will never eat there again. Even if my life depends on it
Very awesome staff. Breakfast was ok. Wasnt a traditional corned beef and hash..more potatoes than beef also.
The place isnt the cleanest, but the food is so good they must be cheating. Theyve ruined all other pancakes, French toast, and sausage by being so good. I went to Cracker Barrel last week, and it was meh. Cost more, too, i think. I cannot express adequately how amazing the pancakes at the Diner are. You must try these pancakes. They might save your life.
The best eggs benedict I have ever had! My family said it had the best bacon ever! Also, the biscuits and gravy were awesome!
The Diner has been a staple of Downtown Omaha for as long as I can remember. Yet today was my first visit. At any given moment, two rough and tumble characters, covered in battle scars with tattered clothes and a briefcase handcuffed to one of their hands were going to walk in and set their hand guns on the counter. Then they would politely order coffee and eggs for breakfast while they discuss how in the world they planned on getting this briefcase back to their boss. The staff was friendly. The food was tasty. It reminded me of every movie diner out there. The Diner is a great spot for anyone interested in a bit of nostalgia for breakfast or lunch.
Food much improved under new management.Regular bacon is sweet. Make sure to ask for non-sweet bacon if you want regular bacon.
Authentic, boisterous, noisy, busy. They serve real coffee cream, not the little creamer cups with a shelf life of two years. Hearty portions of comfort food served by friendly staff. Harrison Ford, Sean Penn, The Rock, Kid Rock, the staff of Berkshire Hathaway, and others have dined Here.
Ken is always accommodating and friendly. The wait is long on a Sunday morning, but they brought us coffee (and bloody mos!) in line. The food is Delicious and the bacon will knock your socks off. Definitely an Omaha landmark and so worthwhile.
Went here twice during March Madness! If you are in Omaha, you definitely have to try this place for breakfast. Great service and the bacon is sooo good!
Good, simple breakfast food. Waitress wasnt the friendliest person ever and the wait for our food was rather long, but it was wholesome and delicious. Also they have some of the best bloody marys Ive ever had.
I will be sad to see this place go!! Food amazing and the staff is awesome!! Eggs Benedict is great!!
Really great homestyle breakfast at affordable prices. Wait staff very friendly. We didnt get one, but the people at the table next to us got an amazing looking Bloody Mary. Enjoyed tremendously.
Food was good, not great. Serves the purpose for sure and is needed in downtown. Wait staff was super friendly and accommodating.
Good and cheap!Only thing I would change is longer hours of operation. Otherwise perfect.
Great breakfast! Friendly, efficient service, reasonable price. Worth the wait, about 30 minutes.
Amazing place! Delicious food (especially the bacon!), super-kind waiter, and the best cup of coffee Ive had in a long time! What a gem :)
The food is actually really good but the service is terrible. If you are new then you will be treated like a second class citizen. We were told that we couldnt sit in a booth because there were only two of us even though there were two empty booths and no one else waiting in line for a table. The manager even told two strangers that if they wanted to sit with us then we could eat there. At this point there were still two empty booths just sitting there. So you can get some decent food here if you dont mind dealing with the stressed out staff and possibly sitting at a table with strangers.P.S. stay away from the ketchup.
5-stars because its exactly what the name says, it isnt trying to be anything else! As a friend of mine is fond of saying, there are only so many things you can do to an egg, but they do them all. Friendly, too. Try the sweet bacon, its different, not for me, but some people really like it.
Kind of your typical greasy spoon cafe, but staff are friendly and the food is good. Prices are reasonable too, we went to have breakfast here for the good reviews (it was busy when we went in too) and it was worth it, we would go there again. Coffee is good too. My only gripe is that some of the silverware and crockery were a bit wore out and needed a good clean.
Delicious food and superbly friendly staff. The coffee is actually good, too. My only complaint was that the restaurant was understaffed (on a Saturday morning), so getting my order taken took some time.
Me and my wife went to Omaha for a quick mini honeymoon. We drove around and used google to find a lil hometown, podunk place to eat. We find the Diner. My lord was it amazing. The bacon is out of this world! The lady serving us was funny and the food came quick and delicious. We will drive to Omaha just for this place again.
The place is a cool little spot to go to. I just dont think the prices match the quality of the food. Its diner food.
Great homemade food. Fun atmosphere!! Try the amazing bacon. Bloody Marys, and fuzzy mos mimosa.
Classic diner experience, great food for breakfast and lunch, personal service...Ken, one of the two very cool guys that own the place, was welcoming, hospitable, and appreciative during my first visit and has since taken the time to get to know me, even remembering what I order. Just go, eat, meet Ken, and enjoy feeling like a regular!
Best place for breakfast in the Old Market. It gets busy in the mornings (another indicator of quality), so be sure to get there early before the rush or late before the lunch crowd. Also be sure to try their candied bacon.
This place was amazing, I wish I would have visited more than the last day. I definitely am hitting up these dope sharks at their other spot!
Very good food and service here. Friendly workers to out-of-towners. Be sure to get here early on Sundays to beat the crowd.
Great food if your dont have any dietary restrictions. my vegan wife had a hard time finding anything to eat but they were very accommodating
I can speak about the food trucks the guys also own (located in the parking lot) - and it was perfect. The food was wonderful, bacon-wrapped hot dog FTW, not to mention incredible BBQ. Super friendly staff, intimate though outdoor environment are great, oh and dont forego the sangria - its a damn good idea. Made our Omaha getaway a lot of fun on a Friday night!
This place is delish! Friendly waitress, I had the #4 breakfast with the cinnamon sugar bacon - Loved it 🍳🥓🥞💕
Friendly service and a great family vibe. The Reuben is delicious and the coffee comes thick and fast!
Went here for the first time late on a Friday. They recently started 24 hour open on the weekend. The late night menu was limited, but the sliders were BOMB and they the waitress was super nice too! Will definately be back to try the regular menu items. Also, just b/c its a small diner and youre a drunk fool at 2am, dont be a dick and leave a tip.
Best hashbrowns Ive ever had. Cute little spot and great food.
Love this place. A great place to get comfort food at an inexpensive price. Staff is great and friendly and so are the owners!
Service was amazing and the food was even better. More than worth a stop in.
Great old time diner. Good food and great ambiance.
Wanted to get a good greasy breakfast and a cup of coffee. This was just the place. Service was fast and friendly. Food was just what I was looking for.
Found this place under the breakfast category on Google maps, parking is kind of hard in this area. There is street parking with meters but never a spot open. There is a lot to the left of the diner for $8 but its good for all day so u can eat and walk around the old market. Im so glad we chose this diner, we didnt even read review we just went! It was definitely busy but the staff worked fast and nonstop to get everyone their order fast. The style and decor was awesome, like from a movie. Everything we had was delicious but the bacon...the bacon...was the best bacon we have ever had and were from iowa so we have had alot of bacon. I wanted to order a few lbs and take it home. We will def be back if were in the area again because it was a great breakfast!
Great food and service, very friendly atmosphere! You better be hungry if you order the biscuits & gravy!
Great classical diner. Staff is superfriendly and the bacon one of the best.
Great food and easy access! Friendly staff and good for a quick bite.
Literally the best bacon and breakfast potatoes around. Also their French toast is noteworthy.
Old school diner. Crusty but friendly staff. Good food. Classic atmosphere.
Its the best for 60s style loving family feeling. Been going here since 1991. Am glad to see the restaurant longevity. Need more regulars to come.
Great place everything has a made here taste and feel. And the bacon is thick and sweet.
Awesome 1950/60s feel. Great food fast service
The manager was rude and the service was poor. The food is nothing special. It would be nice if someone bought the lot and put in apartments or a better restaurant. Waste of space in the old market.
Good old fashioned greasy spoon breakfast. Try the brown sugar rubbed bacon - its delicious!
The food is always good here and so are the prices, it can take a while though so be prepared to wait a little.
Burnt sausage, cold potatoes, overcooked pancakes, my wife got wrong omelette. On the positive side, my wife really liked the wrong omelette. As said in other reviews, small place, typical diner food, waited for table, slow service.
Best breakfast in Omaha. Period. It wins on taste, atmosphere and service.
I had the steak and eggs and I could cut my steak with a butter knife. Melted in my mouth and was delicious
Classic diner in Old Market area, walk through the door and its a trip back to the 1950s.Enjoyed Mega Meal for breakfast, home fries nice and crispy, French toast was excellent.
Was my first time coming here and me and my husband loved it! Definitely coming back when we visit Omaha again!
RIGHT IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN, RIGHT IN THE HEART OF THE OLD MARKET, STOP IN FOR GOOD FOOD ITS THAT SIMPLE, FROM GOOD EGGS, TO GOOD COFFEE, THEY GOT BLOODY MARYS TOO, STOP IN ITS LIKE YOUR IN NEW YORK CAFE ., review written by owner of the THRIFT SHOP BEYOND26O1 S 13TH ST OMAHA, NE.
Food and customer bservice was great, but took 30+ minutes for food to arrive
Great tasting food(bacon is amazing) good serving size and the green chili is awesome. Good price too.
The food is amazing but you will wait at least 15 minutes for a table
Its fine. Staff is overwhelmed and food is average american Diner food. asked to sub tomatoes for my potato choice and thought I had broken the waitresses brain. food took a solid hour to get out to our table. Ehhh, its the only breakfast option open on a weekday in downtown Omaha so, if thats you, this place will do.
Its good. Thought it was better under previous management.
