So far I’m enjoying my smart fan. I won’t say installation was a breeze, I had to make modifications to my ceiling to accept it and then I wasn’t able to sync it with the remote....BUT I called customer service and they walked me through the process and it works well. No waiting on some hot days (it’s coming!) to test out the fan. All in all, I’m pleased.

The product instruction manual needs serious overhaul. The instructions aren’t very clear. There is no customer support number that I could find. The installation is not typical of a ceiling fan (understandable given electronics) but still parts supplied didn’t match vague instructions. I’m glad that I am comfortable with electricity and general knowledge. The product does perform well.

Updated 8/9/20.I had a few issues to start, but I finally got around to calling Carro, and they took care of me immediately. They not only sent me the replacement part for what I was having issues with, they also sent me a new remote and main board in case the new power supply didn’t take care of the problem.I had tried contacting them online a few times, but we all know that a phone call is more effective, and I should have called them first. Fantastic support, friendly people, and it took me less than 10 minutes to fix the fan once I received the parts. For a brand new company getting initial funding on Kickstarter, we should expect a few issues. I’m really happy with their resolution, and I look forward to seeing their progress in the market. These fans look great, and the fan stays impressively stable with how fast the DC motor gets the blades spinning.

This fan is nothing to be overly excited about.1. The physical remote control is cheap2. The remote had to be linked to the fan? the remote should already be linked to the fan and ready to work right out of the box3. The beeping noise is annoying. Either eliminate it all the way or lower the volume on it.4. The clear plastic portion surrounding the light and the light itself is cheap looking and looks outdated.5. The installation was a bit overly complicated. If I knew what I know now owning the fan I would not have purchased it. I would have purchased another can from a retail store instead.

I was really excited to get this fan and install it. So as far as the install went it was pretty smooth (a little tight but not too bad). But after that is when the pain began. I never managed to get the fan to work. I triple checked all my connections, re-wired my light switch to make sure it was working, and even used dielectric grease to help with the connections. Still nothing... so I need to either get a replacement unit or a refund cause after a week or more of fighting to get it working this is just too much.

I got to know Carro through a Kickstarter campaign and supported the Smart fan. Even during the implementation phase Carro communicated regularly and tried to be transparent compared to many other campaigns.Look and feel:I like the fan very much and it runs flawlessly and almost silently in idle mode, so I let it run partly at night. It is very easy to adjust via the app and can be automated (e.g. if the outside temperature in my area is above x °C, the fan switches on automatically, etc.). I also find the timer very useful if you only want the fan to go to sleep but dont want it to run all night. Here would be intermediate steps (not only whole hours still helpful). The remote control mentioned in some reviews is also not very successful. In terms of design, functionality and durability of the battery cover, it does not match the value of the rest of the product.Assembly:The fan (version without LED) was relatively easy to assemble and install. But for the assembly I got help from an electrician. The first coupling of the remote control was easy, the coupling of the mobile app was a bit more complicated and didnt work at first go - for whatever reason.Support:When a few weeks ago my fan suddenly stopped working, I wrote to the company. I had also pointed out the broken battery cover.I was immediately helped - without long discussion about whose fault it could have been. Within 7 days I had the spare part including a new circuit board, a new remote control (which unfortunately is not more beautiful than the old one... ;-)) and an additional battery cover for my old remote control. I liked that very much and it makes it easy for me to recommend the company. With the new circuit board the coupling of the app is also easier...

I LOVE the Carro Smart Fan. It is silent most of the time, EXCEPT for the startling beeping when changing settings. It is sleek and beautiful, but light plastic. Medium durability, Id say.It can make a room downright cold, as it moves air 10x better than our Hunter fan did, but can be set on a very soft breeze as well.I love the number of levels of lighting and the choice between yellow or white light. Finally, our room has good light! Now for the cons. No clear instructions for pairing with an Echo. Five months later, several emails and Google searches later, still no success.Three months in, our fan was on and had been on for some time it suddenly came to a grinding halt. After troubleshooting it in as many ways as we could think of, we determined with a voltage meter that electricity was going into the transformer, but not out the other side. After a week of searching for an email address, I wrote and asked for help. Two weeks go by with no reply, but the world is pretty much in quarantine, so I give them a break. I Googled the parent company and found a phone number. Someone answered the phone! But they only said, Hello. It was the right number, nevertheless.I tell them our issue. They say they will send me a new black box. They say they havent been great at getting around to answering emails. The next day I get an email saying they want me to send my black box to them first and they will email me a shipping label. Two days later, still no label. I emailed them back asking about it and they replied with a label the next day.I put it out for the mailman and when I checked the mail later, the new transformer had arrived. We installed it and it works great again. We still cant pair it, but I think well get there now that I have a phone number for them. When the fan works, I give it a 10.Instructions get a 1.Customer service gets a 6.It is now more than $50 less at Home Depot than the Kickstarter price I paid last Fall.So value gets a 5.Reliability is a 3 at this point. If this one can keep going for 2 years, I will definitely get one for my bedroom. The Smart Tech gets a 0 so far.The remote battery door is ridiculous. You must use some sort of tool in an unintuitive manor to get the back off. My husband broke it trying to figure it out. It cannot be fixed because the broken part was a piece the width and sturdiness of a plastic fork. Major Fail. Also, the remote looks like a reject from the 1970s.

We bought two Carro fans on Kickstarter and we really like them. The functionality is great and they work really well. We operate the fans through the wall switch, the smartphone app as well as Alexa. The reason why I gave only 4 stars is that the installation manual was not 100% accurate and poorly translated. Getting the fans to run and connect them to the WiFi network did not work at all by following the instructions. Fortunately customer service send the correct instructions after being contacted by email. While we like the look of the fans, the material is predominately plastic even the parts that look like metal. That was kind of a disappointment as the fans are not cheap and we expected higher quality materials.

I bought 2 Carro smart fans. PROS - The fans have a great modern clean look that I love. It can produce lots of circulation. They are ultra quiet!CONS - THE REMOTE. The remote is very loud and annoying, the beep is very load and if you are trying to adjust the fan speed in the middle of the night you better be alone becuase anyone next to you will be jolted awake. Also the remote and app do not work very well, the remote fails about 20% of the time and the app has to be resynced several times a week and is a nuisance to sync. The developer has released several revised setup instructions and directional videos which was thoughtful but at the end of the day even with these updates the handheld remote and app just doesnt work they way they should I wouldnt buy another fan from them unless I knew this feature was fixed. I do not regret my purchase because I do enjoy the look and quietness of the fans and will put up with the nuisance of the remote. It would be a 5 star product had the remote or app been polished.

Initially, the receipt of my two units produced 1 unit with a faulty motor/adapter connection that required numerous emails and finally a replacement unit that took weeks. Once I received, the installation of each unit (working) was completed but instructions were terrible (had to receive updated functioning instructions). Was able to get unit finally working after several tries to connect via WIFI. Working at the moment but now hesitant to proceed with any additional units (would like 2-3) and wifi switches. Problem is I have 1 switch (stand alone) and another switch which is on a 2 way switch (1 of the other additions I would like to get is on a two way as well). Not clear from customer service if the switch could work on a 2 way connection. Thus I have held off adding anything new to the system. Lastly not @ my condo to work on installing others due to COVID-19 issue (I live in Toronto and my condo is in Florida). Till able to return have put on hold.

Update by at the end...Carro smart fan reviewPros: I really like the look and functions of the Carro smart fan. This is a powerful and simple fan with some very nice options, like summer and winter mode (winter spins backward). I really like the the ability to operate this fan with my cell phone (more on that below). It has different length down rods, and despite the directions was fairly easy to put together. I bought the one with the LED light kit, which is super bright and has yellow and/or white light. It gets amazingly bright... it would provide enough light for pin point precision hanging on 20ft vaulted ceilings.Cons: the directions were offensively vague with inadequate pictures. If you aren’t already comfortable with basic wiring and ceiling fan/light installation, hire someone to help you. I consider myself a pretty savvy/handy guy, I rebuilt Arcade games and pinball machines for a couple years, I’ve done plumbing and wiring (auto and home), rebuilt car engines, sheetrock, upholstery, remodeled bathrooms and kitchens, and plenty of other other projects to include crocheting... that being said this fan took away part of my manhood!!! No matter how hard I try, I cannot figure out how to get the cheap little remote to connect and operate this damn fan. After about 45 minutes of fiddling with this thing, I was able to connect my cell phone, which Is the only way I can operate it. I certainly hope others have had better luck, although there isn’t much help on the Internet.Overall, yes I do like the fan, and buying it on Kickstarter makes me much more happy than if I’d paid full price. I would have returned it if I had because it doesn’t fully live up to expectation. Between the directions, lack of support online, and remote functionality, there is a lot to be desired. That being said, I do like this fan and it serves my purpose.Update 6Jun2020: today I contacted customer service. Due to water damage in my house, the fan had to be removed for about a month. When I reinstalled it, it wouldn’t turn on. Anthony from customer service was very nice and helpful. Although, he helped me to try to reset the fan I was unable to get the fan working again. Apparently water must have gotten into the fan andFried the circuit board. I inquired about buying a new circuit board, and mentioned I was never able to get the remote to work. Anythony warranted the circuit board and is sending me a new remote to go along with my fan to get it up and running.Although the instructions were a very frustrating, the amazing customer service provided by Carro hasMade this experience much better. I recommend this fan, and if you’re installing it yourself, reach out to their customer service with your questions. I’m going to buy another fan for the other side of my house.

Absolutely love my 4 Wi-Fi Carro fans! They literally blow away a Wi-Fi Hunter fan I purchased from Costo in the same price range, with twice the airflow and much better Wi-Fi control & Alexa integration. The fans are also whisper-quiet and dont wobble. If Carro could just improve the annoying beep that sounds with every control change with a much softer tone, theyd be near perfect. Shipping was a little slower than I would have liked on first batch from oversees and I incorrectly received one of the fans without a light kit, but Carro did make it right within a couple of weeks. Thank you for the great fans!
