Everyone is extremely nice and go above and beyond! We had an issue and ended up being towed to Bob Allen Ford, we live 1200 miles away from this location and they allowed our pets in and were very welcoming! They even got in contact with the dealership that caused the issue and were trying to help us find a fix so we could get home. One of the best vehicle buying experiences one can have. DJ was very informative on questions I had. He was willing to go to work on my trade in and worked numbers above and beyond what any dealership in my area was willing to do. The tailgate on the truck I purchased wasn’t working quite right, he offered to make arrangements to come pick the truck up and fix it at no charge. I couldn’t go without my truck for the few days it would have taken to logistically have them fix it. I opted to order the parts at my local dealership and DJ insisted that I send him the receipt so they could reimburse me. By golly a check showed up in the mail a few days later. I wouldn’t hesitate in the slightest to make the trip out there to do business again!

This Ford dealership went above and beyond! We are from Kansas City and our Explorer shredded the serpentine belt about 100 miles south of KC around 7am on vacation. We called the dealership and they were able to hook us up with a local tow company and we had it promptly towed to Bob Allen Ottawa. As soon as the vehicle was delivered a technician was out in the parking lot looking at it and then began the repairs right there on the concrete. We were in and out of there in about an hour! Everyone was friendly and courteous and went out of there way to get us back on the road.

I bought a car in February from DJ in Ottawa it was my first time buying a car from a dealership so I was a little skeptical getting a new vehicle. Meh...you can find a better place.Started out ok....sales experience was better than average.  We bought a used vehicle for my daughters first car (6k range).Trouble started on the service side.  Once we got it home, I noticed immediately that there was no oil change sticker in the window---that made me start to wonder about the pre-sale inspection.  I call them and they say it mustve been an oversight and to bring it in for the service---ok, sort of a big oversight but whatever.  I also made note at the time that the wipers were not working properly.  They attributed it to the cold and, since it was intermittent, they would just document and monitor it.Fast forward several months---not much occasion to take my daughter driving in the rain; therefore, not many opportunities to exploit the existing wiper problem.  Nonetheless, I dont worry about it----I did, after all, document the problem immediately after the sale and was assured it would be taken care of if it continues and proves not to be the cold.  Well, it wasnt the cold--the wiper motor is bad.  And so the trouble begins.In the meantime, I go to teach my daughter how to replace the cabin air filter.  We crack open the compartment and, to our surprise, find that the cabin air filter was not only not replaced during pre-sale inspection, it wasnt even looked at.  How do I know this?---because the existing cabin air filter was a homemade one out of a home furnace filter.  It was filthy and had clearly been in there for an extended period of time.So, if you are keeping score, you will note that the pre-sale inspection has thus far not included an oil change, cabin air filter change, or a wiper inspection--and that is just what I (a layman) have noticed up to this point.  Bottom line---wiper motor quits all together, I take it to them for repair, Bob Allen wont stand by what they said and want to charge me $500, and they clearly do not inspect used vehicles like they claim they do.So, all in all, you can do a lot better when searching for a place to buy a vehicle.  Its a shame, really---I like small town dealers and, given how often our family trades vehicles, this could have been the start of something lucrative for them.

Mechanic took my vehicle out for over an hour and a half joy riding out on dirt roads. Dealer service tech said he was out test driving it. I gave them a clean vehicle with a full tank and they gave me a muddy, dusty vehicle back with 3/4 of a tank. Drove 55 miles so I either developed a fuel leak or the mechanic drove it like a mad man. Had to return next day and have them wash it as they said they would and didnt the day I picked it up.j

We bought a Ford Flex from DJ today and after having a terrible experience at another dealership in the past, having him take care of us was a breath of fresh air. He made sure that we clearly understood everything and were getting the best deal. I cannot recommend him enough! This was my second visit in two weeks time, replacing a fuel line because of a broken compression fitting, which was due to the work theyd done replacing under dealer warranty the forward fuel pump in my FIRST visit. Bob Allen never even acknowledged the possibility of the fittings going bad being linked to their just having worked on it, they made me pay for the new part, and I had to have the ticket adjusted when I picked the car up b/c it was incorrect.That said, possibly b/c they did indeed realize the fitting was their fault, they covered the labor cost & I was offered a loaner vehicle. And they were polite & frankly enjoyable to be around most the time, but its experiences like that this that continue to drive me to the local repairman over the big dealership whenever I can help it.

Today I went & picked up my car to later discover MY TRUNK FULL of water. The man I talked to was apologetic but had no explanation. It had to have been left it outside in the rain, open because there are no loose sealings. This was after taking my 50,000 mile tires in after getting 15,000 miles out of them (with no wearing from needing rotated or aligned) and them not being able to do anything about it when I purchased them from Bob Allen last year. The manger’s excuse was they must have been the only ones in stock but they were ordered and was in the shop for over a week just for tires. I should have learned my lesson the first time I brought my car in last year for struts I was quoted a price, was then charged a lesser price (I mentioned to them that was cheaper than I was quoted at time of payment) then to be called back with them trying to charge me $800 more than the quoted price because they had somewhere made a mistake. Today they did offer to clean my car’s trunk out but I wouldn’t trust them with any vehicle ever again.

The customer service at Bob Allen Ford in Ottawa KS, is very sorry. I went in to just get an oil change and see why the check engine was on. I did not expect anything to be fixed, but just to tell me why it was on. It took over 6 hours and I will never return as a customer. We have purchased many, many vehicles from them thru the years and had many vehicles serviced as well. I will not recommend them to anyone.
