A gem! Recommended by our hotel as we are traveling and it was a step back in time. Fast service, good food with big portions and you get dessert included! They treated us like family. Prices are excellent and a good value. Mix of families, couples, singles and the regular crowd. P.S. liver & onions are on menu and good!

Not super keen on the breakfast skillets. Have had a couple, the ingredients don’t taste fresh. Also have had dinner here twice. It’s okay. And they are pretty pricey. Breakfast for 2 skillets and coffee was $32, almost double what we’ve pay elsewhere in town for better breakfast. We are happy this place is here and it is always busy, but not our first diner choice.

Went here after Bash burgers was 0acked and too yuppie. This is a good local hometown style restaurant. Very good food and very yfriendly polite staff. We came in 50 minutes before closing and were there until 15 minutes after. Not one staff showed and disapproval or any negative vibes for being there after hours. Good place with good prices to visit.

I paid $50 for a dinner for me and my two daughters that tasted like it came straight from the grocery store frozen, to the microwave and then to our plates. The jumbo shrimp was regular sized shrimp that was butterflied and heavily breaded. The peas were obviously canned and mashed potatoes were the instant kind. We wont be back.

Great service - We had 5 different people visit our table in the first 10 minutes of being there. Food is great, large portions and great value. We really enjoyed our meal. Met the owner who took a personal interest in us which was very nice

Food I ordered (French Toast) was very good. Waitress was GREAT! Will have to get her name next time for sure cause she was top notch.Bathrooms were some of the cleanest I’ve seen in a restaurant and that is so under appreciated.Will be a regular here

The food came out very quick! Fries are very crispy and you can tell that they put hard work into their food. This is a go to place after your hike day. I will be coming back here and recommending this place to others.

This place was hopping on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Theyre well setup for kids, are friendly, and have an extensive menu. I expected that the food would be better, though. The hash browns werent crispy enough, the eggs were slightly overcooked, and the gyro meat in my skillet was definitely not gyro meat.

We loved this place. We came from out of town and liked it so much, we went twice during our stay! The staff is super friendly, the menu is huge, and the prices are really reasonable. We took our three girls and they loved the food from the kids menu, which includes a bowl of ice cream. Definitely recommend!

This is a great place for delicious, homey meals. Breakfast served all day (generous omelet portions), satisfying sandwiches, and great soups. The price point is great, too. When you’re here, you’re treated like family.

Its be a 5 star if the service was any better. We went day one of our trip and they simply wouldnt take our names to put on the wait list. They asked everyone around us, who was already on the list, if they had been added to the list. Everyone said they had been, and yet they never asked to add us. We left and came back the next day. The food the next day was really good. Service was still questionable at best. I rarely give only 3 stars but the service drug this one down.

A+ on the service and soup. Food is usually really good but sometimes you get unlucky. Decent prices but they usually come with alot. Love the fried chicken and ribs, just might get a bad one every once in awhile

My wife and I had been going here for years. 2 weeks ago the order I placed was $13. Today the same order costed over $21! For a carry out order! On top of the over charges they screwed up our eggs and I had to drive all the way back for the correct eggs. You lost loyal customers today. We will never be back.

This place was outstanding! All the way from the owner to the food to the portions to the waitress. Suzanne? Even the waitresses who werent for our table were even helpful. Just cannot say enough great things about this place even five miles off the beaten path we would do it all over again. True meaning of work ethic and teamwork.

Stopped for breakfast. Everything was good. The waitstaff was right there to refill our drinks. It looked like there were a lot of regulars eating there. I will be back.

Big lovely breakfast, friendly staff. My only complaint is they charge extra for using a card. It’s 2021, you’ve lost more business by using this practice than you have saved in processing fees. I’ve skipped eating here on several occasions for this reason alone. You are also screwing your servers over by adding this on, makes people want to tip less when they find this out on paying their tab.

Great place to meet and eat! Our retiree group gets together once a month and we always meet at the Hi-way. There are many choices of food to please everyone. The waitresses and staff are always very helpful and friendly. The food is prepared in a timely matter. Today there were 7 of us so we were accommodated with a large table so we could all sit together. Nobody is trying to push us out the door .We get to visit as long as we want. Highly recommend the Hi-way whether you dine alone or with a big group!

We stop here to eat when we go to starved rock state park. The food is always good and the service is always good too.

Service was great but the food was horrible. Overcooked shrimp in old oil and a steak that was supposed to be medium but was more like a flip flop.

I was in town for business. I decided to try HiWay Restaurant and I really enjoyed the food. They have good prices/food combos. I got the Meatloaf and BBQ Chicken. I was very good. I will be happy to try there food again.

I dont get how this place has positive reviews. They great you very well and waiters are very nice and make you feel welcome but the food is horrible. Got a beef sandwich super tuff and fatty no flavor. French fries were the worst I have ever had. No salt no crisp just cardboard flavor. Price is cheap as sin but I wouldnt eat here if i was blackout drunk .

Stopped on our return from vacation. Was very impressed. Food was excellent, with huge portions. I had a skillet with hash browns and corned beef hash. The corned beef hash was homemade. The soups appeared to be homemade also and very good. My wife had outstanding cabbage rolls and my 14 year old devoured his Ruben. Service was top-notch. All in all, 10/10 will make it a point to stop here again when our travels take us to this area. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Loved it. The only reason I give it four stars is because the food I ordered wasn’t very great this time, but that could just be because I ordered something I may not have liked. I’ve been here multiple times before, and they’re food is usually very good. They have appropriate and reasonable prices, and the waitresses/waiters here are very respectful. They always seem to be right on top of things and are very kind. Food comes out very quickly. I think when we ordered it took them about 10-15 minutes to bring it out, maybe shorter. I would definitely recommend this place if you enjoy a nice clean, quiet, and friendly environment.

I have been taking my family to the Highway restaurant in Ottawa for many years. We decided that New Years would be a good day to enjoy a meal there. We ordered 3 separate meals, and each meal was worse than the other one. I ordered the bake chicken and it was over cooked and as dry as sandpaper. My one son got a breakfast meal, and you would think the eggs, pancakes and bacon should be great, and they were all over cooked and awful. We will not be going back there.

If youre in the area, Its a must stop. Great food, great service and good cocktails!

We stopped here for lunch on our way home from vacationing in Ohio. The restaurant is nothing fancy but it is clean and in good repair. Staff is friendly and our server was on point. It was lunch rush and we were welcomed and seated within 5 minutes. Our server acknowledged us right away and took our drink order promptly.I ordered the Cabbage rolls. ($9.95 special on Fridays) and it came with a bowl of soup, wax beans, and choice of potato. The cream of potato soup was homemade and delicious. The cabbage rolls did not disappoint. Portion sizes are large. My husband ordered a breakfast skillet and my son had the rueben. They both reported that their meals were great tasting. We are a family of 5 and and everyone left full for just under $40+tip. We did all have water to drink and our two youngest ordered off of the kids menu. We rarely eat at a sit down restaurant for less than $60. We will make it a point to eat here anytime we pass through.
