Love this store...no longer a Home Depot person..Ottawa store is great..had paint color mix up..Tim (mgr)..listened to my side then refunded my money for improperly mixed paint...will definitely keep shopping there..

I bought an expensive item there yesterday. Today i had some issues with it. I was not happy. I called them and told them I was on my way. I was expecting a battle when I got there. To my surprise, I was met at the front door by the manager, the gal running the register and another guy ready to make things right. They couldnt have been more helpful. This may have been the best customer service Ive ever received. I left happy and fully intend on returning to do business there again.

My wife and I found water and pest damage around one of our windows that turned into gutting an 8 x 10 section of wall, in and out. Home Base had everything we needed to complete our repairs in stock with several options to choose from on most items. The lack of competition in the area is reflected in their prices though. Thankfully they offer a military/veterans discount that offsets some of the mark up.

They had some nice corral gates we were looking at. Unfortunately they were not labeled correctly and pricing was everywhere. We went inside and asked about pricing and we were directed to the front. We went to approach a younger guy at the front and he was anything but happy to have to talk to anyone. He said he couldnt help us without a sku... that wasnt on the gates 🤦‍♀️. He acted like we were bothering him. It was my first time in and I will never go back.

Came to Ottawa for a week long job, had to grab a few things from here. Great service each and every time I went.

They are very helpful when you need to find something. They will take you to that aile.

I purchased a lawn mower and had a few issues with the machine. The general manager (Tim) and service manager (Melvin) did everything they could to make it right. They will even pickup and deliver if you happen run into an issue like this. This was a big deal for me since I live 40 minutes away from the store. Kudos Guys!

Their people skills are just not there. Never have been. I was a little upset with management because i found two items i wanted and one was in the wrong place and was the only one there. I kinda understand but when you have an attitude that my buisness is just not that important it really turns me off. And the wrong price tag was up so high you cant read anything but price. Its an okay place to go if you cant leave town but calling first is the best idea. Also the prices are higher than your bigger stores.

Clean and well stocked store. Everywhere I went I ran into an employee who were all very kind and knowledgeable of all the products in their store. Tim checked us out at the register and was very friendly and polite. There was a young man in the garden center who helped me find down spout extensions, dont know what his name was. Store was not crowded and almost everyone was wearing a mask. I definently see myself shopping here again in the future.

The store is fine and the people who work there are okay also, but the website is about the worse Ive seen. Trying to get into the Ottawa Kansas store site and it keeps taking me to two different TX stores. Plus the product lacks valuable information like size, length and price.

Friendly employees, good selection. Prices are slightly higher than normal on some items. Probably due to remote location. Convenient for finding what you need.

The help we got in the lawn Ang garden dept was great, very helpful finding all the things we needed and helped load everything.the store was well stocked and clean. The U.N. store help could let us where show we everything was that I needed.

I appreciate having a home improvement store in town. (Appreciate anything that keeps me from having to drive into the metro.) I don’t mind that prices are a bit higher since I’ve not wasted time and gas to go to Olathe. Every time I’ve been in, I’m asked repeatedly if I need help locating an item. During the virus, they’ve even taken my order over the phone and brought my purchase out to my truck. Great customer service!

Almost fogot why I stopped shopping here, today I remembered. This $12.99 36x64 blind box, actually measured less than 30. The 5.6mi drive back to store for exchange was met with a joke it extends (it doesnt) and said well it scans as 36 blinds. We brought our tape measure in store to verify to store employees. Im surprised there hasnt been complaints like this before. Found a 36x64box which measured 38. Thinking this will do we walked to sales counter. Sales member said easier for him to do exchanges for store card members (we are not), so he needed drivers license to scan. Personally been in sales I know thats just his way of saying I only know how to exchange one way.Sales members never said; sorry for this inconvenience or well be sure to take those off the shelves.

They had what I needed in stock, and at a good price. The yard guy was very helpful in getting the Lumber loaded in the back of the truck.

So glad Home Base set up shop in Ottawa. I used to have to drive up to Olathe to get my building supplies at a reasonable price. Ive saved time and money by shopping there.

It has been a long while almost a year since being here and today confirmed why we do not visit this place anymore!! We bought 4 blinds (3) sticker said 39x64 they measured 38 1/2x 64. The the (1) with sticker of 36x 64 we had to drive 11 miles total to go back and exchange due to fact that it measured 29 1/2 on box. When we arrived, because I was a girl I was told It extends (which it does NOT)! Who ever put $12.99 blinds on display would have seen the difference, but instead we find the correct 36 blinds next to the 30 blinds! Needless to say we will never shop here again it had been a while for a reason. Before we had problems with asking questions and not getting any answers due to inexperienced help with NO one around to answer questions.

Melvin in the mower service department is a one in a million! Knowledgeable, helpful, and super friendly! Hard to come by these days. Hes helped us out many times with our Bad Boy Maverick. Thank you!

Very good local hardware store

The customer service in this location leaves a lot to be desired. This is my 4th visit, I have never been greeted or asked if I would like any help. The last 2 visits I have been looking for an item advertised, it has not been available, store employees and management have no idea when it may arrive. I really would like to purchase the sale item. This store is approximately 65 miles, one way, from my home. This store is a small Home Depot type store and I am glad to have this in the general area but I dont really enjoy shopping thereThe next closest Home Base is 90 miles one way. Home Depot and Menards is approximately 90 miles one way also.

Was highly disappointed. Went to get fruit trees that were advertised. They were out and not going to reorder.

I can say that your never left alone wondering around the store in search for what you need. I am always asked if I need help finding what I need. The staff have always been friendly and polite.

There are a few seasoned gentlemen employed here that are pleasant to talk to and can walk you to any widget in the store. Not only do they ask what they can help you with; but also ask the application of the item and engage in intelligent conversation about it, offering alternatives if by the off chance the part is not available. I appreciate their customer service and the time they save me. I am getting ready to head into DIY to get some items for a plumbing project so Ill be going there a minimum of 3 times today! I appreciate the store hours too.

This is a fun tool store. They had big-box prices with down home service. Wide selection and it was easy to navigate the different departments.

Great place to get odds and ends tried buying a door they had displayed and priced but wouldnt order one on or sell me that one but tried up selling me on one 200$ more... dissatisfaction and disappointed..Email and never recieved a awnserEdit again 8/6/2020 never recied the email about the door... back but decided to keep doing business with them got sold bad stain and sealer and it has ruined my brand new deck easier to go to menards do not recommend shopping here if you can afford to go 20 more minutes to menards.

New address and name for the DIY store we had previously. Its a decent sized do it yourself store for a small town. Im going to love it. The garden center is going to be absolutely huge. Im so excited I can hardly wait, come on spring!!!

Disappointed, as there were very few wearing masks. Felt extremely uncomfortable and dont plan to go back anytime soon.

This store has limited supplies to the builders and the homeowners they need to open their eyes and bring in more different supplies this place is a dump

The staff has ALWAYS been super helpful. Manager Eric is awesome - even took my phone and figured out what my husband needed and walked down the list with him on the phone. He also walked me through doing the pantry shelves for my pantry and getting me every little piece I needed that I had not thought about. All the other employees have been amazing as well...as I go in multiple times a week due to renovating our home. They always go with me and help me find what I need. Thank you thank you for taking away the stress of searching nonstop and not making it home with what I really needed. And always being respectful!

Great selection and awesome customer service. We were helped by people working in two different departments a d they both knew what they were talking about and provided good suggestions.

Store was pretty clean, but they didnt have anything for vinyl siding. Helper didnt seem to be very knowledgeable.

Bigger selection than the old store, but expensive prices as well. This chain has always had higher prices but, since the switch over, the prices seem to have gone even higher. Almost always short on the lumber I need. They do have the hard to find items for a small town but, theres almost always a premium price. Shop here only when other places in town dont have what I need. Sorry.

I had to return an item that was damaged. They were very helpful and friendly with my return and helped me load in my truck after. Very thankful for the great service.

BEWARE!!!! DIY- refused to return our money after we bought an ax handle and it split in two places on the first swing of splitting wood. Tim, who says he’s the manager (but he’s not) refused to return the money and said many people bring that type of handle back due to the same problem. He wasn’t going to return the money but said we could buy another handle. No thanks! This business obviously doesn’t stand behind what they sell- and want the customers to eat the cost. BEWARE!!!!

I am updating my review. Something sure has changed since my last visit. Everyone was very helpful and polite. I hope it stays this way. The store is the only hardware store in town that doesnt have bankers hours and actually has stuff in stock.

Pretty fair selection Im sure it will get better as they find their feet. Was a little disappointed when looking for a window AC unit as they didnt have any big ones only listed up to 10,000btu. Those are tiny oh well another trip to HD

Glad to have an all around Home Improvement Store in the local area here. I have used them several times for a few things.They arent in the same league as BIG Box stores but great for Ottawa.

This is not the place to go for customer service. They have no department specialist. You cannot go in there with questions and get answers. The manager that I spoke to, Tim, was a condescending arrogant jerk.

Went in to buy some lumber, needed a couple cuts. The “manager” tried to charge me $2 a cut on some 1x2s. My own fault for trying to shop here, never had a good experience since they opened. The staff are not very knowledgeable, aside from Don. My advice would be to shop our local lumber and hardware stores.

Great variety of parts and pieces in a lot of different departments.The prices tend to be a bit higher than you can find on the internet - but the parts are right there in your hands instead of waiting a few days.Plus, with the big selection of parts I can dry fit parts to make sure I have everything I need.

The help/staff is all but basically USELESS here! Ive even sent my very attractive wife in in hopes shell attract the attention of someone whom could help with no avail. This SEEMS to be a great little store. But bottom line.Hire new help thats not as rude & lazy or loose business to the competitors! Learn these words Can I help you & try it with a smile. Believe it or not it works!!

Poor customer service never followed up on product on raincheck. Told me I didnt need to call, said they would call when item came in, but waited another month and no call. Another add came out listing the item so I called again they said they had no record of my name or raincheck but I had kept my receipt. Go to store pickup items finally, do some shopping while Im there and the new items I was purchasing they tried to charge me full price instead of the discounted sale price in their add. Its bad when you have to explain to a business how to operate.

Went there on Wednesday the day after receiving the spring sales flyer. Of the 4 things I was shopping for they either had 0 or only one color of the items. The ceiling fan they said was in the back. After waiting for 25 minutes no fan. If you are going to have a sale make sure you have the merchandise.

Signage on the door indicates the government-mandated face covering requirement. Most of the customers and some of the staff I saw were not wearing masks.

When a customer comes in to shop and politely asks a question with a smile to a sales associate, there is absolutely no reason at all for them to be down right rude and sarcastic. I just dont understand the hatred and rude nature of some of the employees at this location. While this store has a lot of the things I need, I believe I will be taking my business elsewhere in the future. How about treating your customers with a little bit more respect?

This is actually Dana. Everyone has been super nice and helpful every time that I have come here. If I ask where something is, most of the time an employee actually walks there with me and helps to make sure that I have everything that I need.

I always come here for things I need for the house and love the old guys that work here

Your website is not good, trying to look at bathroom sinks, could not find, I need 3 sinks would like to shop for them on line so I could find the right size, and I need 3 faucets with popups.
