I will start by saying that I live over 2 hours away from Ottumwa. My first interaction with R/J Performance happened on accident. 5 days after buying a used Indian from private party it acted up and left my brother stranded 4 hours from home. I called the local Indian dealers and motorcycle shops and the best result I got was someone telling me 8 weeks out to even take a look at it. I then called R/J Performance and talked to Darren. He explained that they too were extremely busy, but if I brought it down and left it he would find a way to work it in. 10 days later (WAY sooner than expected) the bike was diagnosed as fuel pump issue it was repaired and back home. The bike since then has had about 2000 miles put on it worry free. This interaction went so well it got me thinking about updating my bike. They had a left over 2020 Chieftain that I was interested in. I reached out to them and was put in touch with Jim. There was absolutely 0 back a forth. I had done my research and Jim was able to accept my offer. He treated me right on the accessories I wanted installed. I brought my uncle with me to pick up my bike and needless to say he ended up pulling the trigger on a 2021 Chieftain as well. There was 0 pressure to purchase straight forward pricing and everyone that was there was awesome to work with. Before leaving the owner Rick came out and shook our hand and even helped us load one bike. It was 98 degrees out so it when loading but he didnt shy away from helping. He also made sure we went home with some cool swag. Even though this place is more than 2 hours away I will continue to have my bikes serviced there and they have earned my business for a long time. Thanks to everyone involved in this transaction. I look forward to many many miles ahead.

We recently made the nearly 2 hour drive to R/J Performance. I had received a gift certificate a couple years ago and had not been able to make it since. The gift certificate did not have an expiration date and thus, should still be honored. Upon checking out, the cashier stated they could not honor the gift certificate due to it being dated 2017. We explained the distance situation to him and it did not matter. He proceded to say we only honor gift certificates for about a year. Redicolus. If this is your policy make sure it is clearly stated on the certificate. Very disappointed.

Cant say enough good things about them. First class covid-19 safety protocols. Nice new and used inventory. Very knowledgeable and helpful service and sales staff. Highly recommended. Wouldnt hesitate to buy from them again.

I come in for quick easy parts for offroad riding..Im beginning to wonder what parts are in stock here. The last 4 times I been in, I dont even get the description out of my mouth before getting interrupted by the counter guy..well we dont carry anything like that, no singles, no kits.. I can have it in 2 days... Im talking parts like master rebuild kits, master links, brake line, chain..the parts guy used to help and try to be helpful. Last 5 yrs or so, hell sell you a new yam part, but if you ride a kawy, ktm, or honda, they wont even talk. Even if parts are the same across yam and another brand. Better to just buy offline, or go to dm. Im frustrated that I cant find a shop with basic rebuild parts. Cmon guys!

I had to update my review after 180 miles on hard surface roads my Yamaha adventure Pro mount broke off and they would not stand behind the work there service dept preformed when they installed this item it turns out they used blots that were to long and tried build it out by putting nuts and washers on it to make the screws shorter instead of finding the correct blots but it failed so now I have a $900 + accessory that I can not use what good is the warranty if they will not stand behind it

Excellent service.

Outrageous prices, staff was not friendly at all. Charged 15% restocking fee for items that were purchased on hand and were unopened. Reccomend to stay as far away as possible.This business responded to my review stating that there is a posted 30% restocking fee sign located in the building. If I would have been allowed to enter the building then maybe i would have been able to see the sign before I purchased the items. Also the items I returned were purchased 3 weeks prior to me returning them

I bought a used 2008 Kawasaki Mule 610 from R/Js. I worked with Hunter and Tammy. Couldnt have been a better experience. I drove 700 miles round trip to get it. When I got there Tammy was ready for me and the Mule was it even better condition than I thought. Fast easy transaction and I was on my way home. My wife loves her new yard machine. CLOSED THEY ARE NOT OPEN!!!! Despite what they may tell you over the phone they are closed. I called ahead to verify they’re open, left work early and when I get there during “business hours” no one was around and lights were off. Wasted vacation time and over 2 hours of my day. Don’t waste your time this placed is closed for business.

Rode here from two hours away with full intentions to spend $20,000+ on a new Indian motorcycle. Stand around for about thirty minutes which wouldnt of been a big deal but I was the only customer in the hole. Definitely convinced me take my business elsewhere and to buy a Harley. Wouldve gave it less than one star if possible.

The best dealership in Iowa that I have ever been to.

I bought a Victory Cross Country Tour two years ago. Ive already taken that bike from Iowa to California, as well as a ride to Alaska! The bike has performed admirably and R/J has gone well above expectations for service and to take care of any minor prolems l have encountered.
