Worst experience ever. Out of 20 mins of class not even 5 mins my child was in pool and the instructor was showing partiality and ignoring some of the kids.
Got certified through them and weve been going there for years. Great staff who provide excellent gear maintenance and always have great recommendations for new diving destinations.
We love it! Ms. Elaine is awesome with small children and teaching early swimmers. Would highly recommend.
The male coach is bad. Not accommodating and expects children to know swimming already when they take lessons. Ironic for a swimming school. He is very impatient does constant eye rolling and expressively shows irritation on little kiddos
Great place. Wonderful employees that are knowledgeable and so willing to help.
They are always friendly and good at answering my questions. Their facility is always clean.
Lovely people. Great teachers. Stormie adores Ms Elaine and Matt.
The instructors are great, but I have a problem with the format. They put new swimmers in the same group with advanced swimmers... my kid never got more than 5 minutes of instruction out of the 30 minute lesson. If you can do individual lessons (here or somewhere else) youll get more mileage, even if its for only half the time.
We LOVE Midwest Aquatics!!! My daughter has been taking swim lessons there once a week for the last 2 years. She has grown so much!! The training she has received at Midwest Aquatics far surpasses any of the 2-week summer swim lessons we had done in the past at other places. The teachers are fantastic!!! They truly care about my daughter and push her to do more than she thought she could. 😊😊
We have been extremely happy with Midwest Aquatics over the past 5 years. We have 3 children that take lessons there currently. Over the years we have had various instructors, like in any learning environment different instructors have worked better for our children than others. What I appreciate is Darrins willingness to talk with me extensively about our needs, our goals for each child, and give me options on days, times and instructors. Angi, Natalie and Heather have all been great teachers. I would highly recommend Midwest Aquatics.
$160.00 to rent two tanks and weights for a week, wow, I could have bought my a tank and weights for 200 and had it filled for 7. I thought that was the deposit, what a rip off. I go to TD scuba it is 10 per tank and 10 for the weights, lesson learned wont be going back there for anything.
Wonderful place for the kids to learn to swim. Mrs Angie was our teacher and my three boys love her. We do not live in the area anymore, but we miss her kindness and the staff at Midwest Aquatics.
We have two girls that have been taking lessons at Midwest Aquatics for the last five months. They both started at a place where they were afraid to put their head under water, and can now both jump in from the deep end and swim across the entire pool (our youngest is 4). It was really important for us to feel that we could go to the pool this summer and know that if they fell in or found themselves in deep water that they would be able to get to the edge and climb out. Zach has been great about knowing when to push and when to encourage. It has been a great learning experience for our girls.
As a customer since 2004, I’ve relied on the team at Midwest Aquatics for scuba training, equipment purchases and ongoing equipment maintenance. Diving around the world and logging over 200+ dives with the same equipment I originally purchased from the shop in 2004.Ive always received expert advice on every aspect of diving from the team and give the organization my highest recommendation as they have one of the most professional and knowable staffs I’ve worked with since receiving my certification.
I did my scuba open water certification course at Midwest Aquatics. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Ive had repeated conversations with Darin about making sure everything is processed correctly and that I have everything I need to safely scuba on my vacations. My snorkeling equipment was purchased here and so far no problems. After I took the course, I was able to practice in the 15ft. pool at the center in full scuba gear. This took place after finishing the classes and before completing the 5 certification dives. This was great because I had time to come in, check that I knew how to use the equipment on my own (getting tips from the staff on how to test for proper weighting and buoyancy), and descend in the water at a slow pace (my ears had a lot of difficulty equalizing). Being able to practice what I learned in training helped me tremendously when I finally did the certification open water dives. The dive master on vacation location was very impressed with all the training that was done.Overall, I highly recommend. Approachable people. Knowledgeable staff. Offers additional training for scuba that I may be interested in taking sometime soon.
Paid for just over 1 year of classes. Daughter over time grew to dislike classes and it was too much of a struggle to continue. 6 months in we wanted to cancel and owner explained my daughter was more likely to get in trouble in the water now that she thinks she maybe able to swim; basically laid a guilt trip on me. It worked. Although they dont tell you when you start how long it will take. That at just once a week it will likely take a 2yo two years of lessons to be able to safely swim. Think a more frequent schedule would drastically speed up learning and while more expensive during that time the total cost would be dramatically less. Plus learning how to swim sooner would be safer than later. Instructor was very good; my child just ended up not liking how she taught. One other instructor was good and some others were poor. The poor ones were not there long at least. They did charge over the suggested retail price on the googles and swim panties I bought from there. I got the overall feeling this is really just a business the owners bought to just make money; swimming instruction is not really where their passion is. Just my opinion.
Our 2 children (3 and 6) have been going here for 2 months now. We have taken swim lessons else where but I truly appreciate the methods MWA uses. Both of my children have progressed wonderfully. The classes are very small so they get lots of individualized attention. But when they are not swimming they are asked to sit quietly on the side of the pool an wait their turn. So double bonus they learn patience too! I was recommended here by a friend and have recommended them to my friends!
Ive been diving with Midwest Aquatics for almost 20 years now. Darin and Cari are top notch people and run a great business. I highly recommend Midwest Aquatics for swim and scuba... especially the great trips they organize for diving.
I give Midwest Aquatics all five stars. My grandchildren have been taking lessons for the last few years. They have very good teachers that have patiences and understanding what they need and how to get the best out of each child. I highly recommend Ms Heather and Ms Natalie as instructors.
After a rough start with discover scuba, Darrin at Midwest made it all better and went above and beyond in helping us out and making us feel as part of there family. And the lake trip was just wonderful (other than no A/C on the boat But you cant control those things happening). wonderful food and hospitality. Im glad my wife and friend and I stuck with Midwest Aquatics and got scuba certified. Very fair prices on equipment and the rental for a week on a go pro is a major plus+++. I wouldnt go any where else for scuba advise and friendship! Not to mention Natalie Burroughs and Darrin was so helpful in the water while getting certified at table rock...you both rock!!!
I would not recommend this place, I had to register swimming for my kids at this place and due to some personal reasons we could not give 1 month notice. when we asked the lady she said you can request for store credit and you can use the money when you guys come back for classes. We came back after couple of months and when we asked about the tution fee on previous session they say you requested for store credit but we never accepted your request. They did not communicate about their rejection of our request. This place is too commercial, they never mind on kids progression.
JUST STICK IT OUT :)i love Midwest aquatics. After learning how to swim there i am now the top swimmer in my high school competitively and have been one of the top since freshman year. as well I am one of the top Butterfly strokers in the state of Kansas ( and i mean the swim stroke ) i earned that as a sophomore just so you know, and after being a teacher there for 2 years I now understand the behind the scenes, the teachers seem harsh an mean and like they dont know what their talking about and it seems like the kids hate the teachers for a while, but the only place that Ive seen get the results that swim teachers have as fast as we have it is the way we do it. i have had kids kick and scream bloody murder when i take them in the water. eventually the kids get past it and get very comfortable in the water. I saw one of our most experienced teachers MS. Angi get a 2 year old to swim across the entire pool. if that doesnt astonish you well than you probably dont have a kid in swim lessons yet. all i am saying is stick it out and your child will not only swim really well but LOVE doing it.
Got dive cerified here last summer and loved it. The dive instructors were very friendly and helpful. I went to Table Rock Lake with MWA to do my open water dive certification and it was my favorite weekend of that summer. I would recommend this facility to any person wanting to learn more about Scuba, try it, or become cerified in it.
Our experience with Midwest Aquatics was awful. Im not sure how it has gotten a good reputation. My 3-year-old child joined the class and maybe got 5 minutes in the pool per week. Even though we attended only 3 classes total, we were charged for 2 months, plus the registration fee and pro-rated for the first month. Parents are not allowed in the water so my child sat heartbroken on the side of the pool for 25 minutes per week as the instructor worked with the other children. Not sure how he was supposed to learn to swim. When I called about the charges, the woman from Midwest Aquatics actually told me that I if I had known we would only go for one month, I should have signed up and then immediately withdrawn-what a way to run a business! Didnt know we would only be going one month until we found out what a total waste of time and money it was!
Broke both mine an my husbands 1st stages, cracked the housing and also my secondary housing no longer works and charged us $400 to break our stuff. Had to buy new so they cost us close to $1000 because the service department sucks BAD!!!!!
Great friendly knowledgeable staff, Nice facility, and very close to HOME!
Ms. Natalie is a great instructor.
