So I needed a custom Scope mount put on my K98 Mauser. It required to drill 4 custom holes into the receiver. Gun Shops around the area said it would cost around $200.00 and take about 2-3 months. Just for a scope mount. I heard from a friend that the Bullet Hole was a great store and they have a gun smith there. So I took my rifle in and asked for their opinion. Hands down the best service I have ever gotten from a gun shop. I spoke to a guy there and he told me the custom job could be done. They showed the gunsmith and he told me it would take about 1-2 weeks. And it only costed me $60.00. The Gunsmith works fast and did the best job I have seen. I honestly was not expecting it to be perfect but it was. I inspected it there and at home many times but it was a perfect job. The holes perfectly drilled, scope level just right, Bore sighted, and no scratches or marks. If you need any work done to a Firearm I 100% recommend The Bullet Hole, great service, and great quality. If I have any more Firearms that need work done, I will be going to The Bullet Hole! Hope my review helps anyone interested!
I love their rental selection! I shoot something new practically each time I go! Best bang for your buck in KC!
Had an issue. The owner gave me a call and he worked to resolve it. Very respectable man, I see he takes pride in his work and cares for his customers which I greatly respect. My rifle looks great and even though I was frustrated at first they were very understanding and in the end we all got the outcome we hoped for. Looking forward to work with this gentleman and his business in the future. I will be recommending this place to all of my other firearm enthusiasts.
Great place to shoot really nice selection of gun rentals and their staff was very knowledgeable and helpful as well as friendly.
Em-POW-her is just that, a combination of classes taught to empower women today to be confident, informed, strong, and proactive in their safety. Loved it!! Brian and Abby great job on relaying your knowledge, experience and skills to us women!! Thanks for sharing your passion to protect.
Great place to go and buy and shoot. Ive been going to the Bullet Hole for several years now, never had a bad visit. People have to realize that there are rules and everyone has to follow them. Grow up!
I recently shot at the Bullet Hole and the next day (today) recognized I was missing my drivers license and felt sure I didnt leave the Bullet Hole with it. After they performed a thorough search and I completed my own search, the license remained missing. As I was sitting in the DMV parking lot about to go in to determine what enormous hoops I would need to go through to obtain a new one, I called back to the Bullet Hole and asked Cory the owner, if he would mind checking their surveillance camera. Knowing what a pain it is to search camera footage, I didnt expect him to agree knowing how busy they were. Cory agreed and spent a considerable amount of effort and time to help me. And help me he did. He discovered with certainty what happened to my drivers license and it did not include the Bullet Hole or my own negligence. License was tracked down and is now safe in my billfold. Bottom line, Bullet Hole management could have just said they were sorry and didnt have it, but they went beyond reasonable expectations to help me! How do you spell Customer Care and Courtesy......the Bullet Hole in my opinion!
Worked with David and he was very helpful and knowledgeable about the gun and accessories/ammo. Great staff overall who can answer your questions honestly.
A few months ago I went there with my brother, looking to buy a mag for a Glock and ammo, it was one other person getting helped. About 15-20min goes by, Still nothing! We didn’t even get a hello how are you doing, we will be right with you, how can I help you, NOTHING! No communication what so ever. At first I thought I was tripping. So, I talked to my brother and he felt the same way. I didn’t want to pull the race card, but I felt like we was invisible. I personally won’t recommend this place to anyone of my family or friends. You’ve lost my business for life.
Unfortunately despite being a school teacher without a record, I was treated like a criminal during a recent visit. The guy that worked there kept saying to me, “if I sell a gun to you, don’t do anything crazy”. He said it multiple times and the only reason I could assume he kept saying it to me was because the color of my skin. I was mortified. To add insult to injury, he made me jump through multiple hoops due to having a new address (which I could have been dishonest about), only to refuse to sell to me in the end, and proposing additional hoops for me to jump through despite meeting his previous requirements. It was definitely their loss. I was willing to spend over $500 with them and purchase a membership. I will not be returning. The discrimination and micro aggressions were unreal. It was a very unfortunate experience…
The team here answered a million questions for me and my wife, made sure to find the right firearm for our use, special thanks to Jeff, and Captain Kirk making a newbie feel at home in the shop and on the range! Come support this fantastic local business, see you on the range!
Very friendly staff and very knowledgeable. Took the time to explain to me everything that I needed to know
My problem was solved over phone within a few minutes, worker Corey at Bullet Hole was very professional and was eager to get to the bottom.
Dont go there if youre Hispanic or Mexican, I went one time and there was this older guy really nice and helpful so I got a membership, the next time I went, there were this other folks who made me feel really unwelcome, I tried to ask a couple of questions and didnt even tried to help me out almost ignoring me, definitely wont renew my membership there when theres better options around the area
I absolutely love this place....but wat keeps me coming back and spending money is the customer service....the customer service from my experiences have been top notch....I think the guys name is Jeff....go and check them out....I am....
Range was decent. Wish employees would have been wearing masks. Decent target ammo
Great pistol range. Friendly staff. Membership fee was only 20usd per year. Then 10usd ever visit after. Decent pistol selection for sale. Nothing super unique, just your average combat / carry mainstream pistols. Didnt see any revolvers. Long gun option are slim. Worth checking out just for the range alone.
I’m not sure who the other Chris Wiley is that left the bad review, but Chris Wiley actual has nothing but good things to say about The Bullet Hole. Every time I have visited, the staff has been nothing less that courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. They are always taking great strides to ensure that the facility is safe, clean and that customers receive a great experience. Go check them out and see Greg while you are there. 👊👍
Great place to keep up skills and train a bit. Average range operations. No frills. Cheap to shoot. Everything you need. Prices and selection are average...just what you would expect. Dont expect any great deals and cheap prices. The business has to make a profit. They would be advised to upgrade and update the place a bit, but overall a good place to go that is convenient and local.
Awesome and easy experience everytime I come in. And the range is fairly clean.
Sks attachments and sks took 3 days for approval costed $50 for background check to purchase
Fantastic range, friendly service, good target ammo, the range had a heater going when I was there, that was nice too.
Great experience. Big Mac was extremely helpful. We’ll be back for sure
The times Ive gone in I have not felt welcomed at all. Staff was standoffish and seemed like I was inconveniencing them while making a purchase.
Super friendly and helpful.Long time ago that wasnt the case, but that place has changed. Made the buying experience very easy and informative.
Friendly and helpful.
Made an order with them they were beyond helpful with costumer service my order was delayed to to covid 19 no big deal they went above and beyond for me - got my item super happy with it,and their costumer service.super friendly on the phone with you, or in store i will be shopping more here.
First time purchasing a gun, helped me feel comfortable and made sure it was the right purchase for me.
The ONLY shop that had the shells we were looking for... Friendly and helpful staff.. I called everywhere and no luck... They had them and saved them until we got there from Gladstone, went ahead and bought all they had... Even put their sticker on my truck... Thanks guys...
Great deal on a couple of guns. Very patient with my wife and all her questions. Found the right guns for us.
Helpful and knowledgeable staff, fair pricing, and any service you could need sales, range, classes, etc.
I love the service I get everytime I come into this establishment the workers are cool and they wont bs you
Friendly guys.nice selection.nice range.what more can u ask for?
Fantastic place to work! Were building and growing a great place to learn, train, and shoot!
Great customer service and prices aren’t to bad either.
The Bullet Hole is the most authentic indoor shooting range experience youre going to find in the Kansas City area. Its changed a good deal (for the better) under new management recently, and they seem to be working hard to satisfy all their store and range customers. If youre wanting to buy a gun, their prices are definitely competitive with everyone else (even cheaper than big box retailers on occasion). If youre new to guns, they are well plugged-in with training. And if you are just wanting to shoot, they have plenty of lanes. With regard to the range, its definitely not the bright clean-room setting like you might find in southern Johnson County, but then the advantage is that at the Bullet Hole they have a very good staff of attentive and knowledgeable employees who actually know what they are talking about.
Love it here, staff is excellent and very helpful. 10/10!
Great customer service. Good location.
I really like how nice and friendly there are from start to finish..
WOW ! ! ! great phone service, I could tell they were quite busy by the background conversations but the salesman still took the time to physically check inventory. On my way to pick up primers. Thank Y O U guys. an out of state happy customer ;-)
A little rough around the edges, but a fantastic deal for women. $25 for a one year membership and no range fees for women on Wednesdays!
Always helpful, great range, great place to try a new gun. You can rent almost anything!
Awesome place to shot my handgun! Highly recommend!!
The new ownership has really brought the place up to speed. Customer service is top-notch, and now they offer gunsmithing services. They always take time for questions and everyone there seems to really know the business. I would encourage any former customers to come back and check out the place under new ownership / management.
Great place to rent a private bay, $25/hr, indoors.
Love this place!!! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming!
I love that they have ladies night...
Apparently Covid doesnt exist at the bullet hole (masks not required and the staff didnt wear masks.) Also there is no viewing area for non shooters.Response : Didnt see a lot of wisdom being displayed by the staff or customers then. Also it is a Johnson County and Kansas requirement to wear masks in a public setting. Is your establishment unaware of this requirement, or willfully ignoring it?
The new owners have added many events and options to appeal to most any shooter. They host many levels of classes, steel range, full auto and dozens of pistols to rent. Featuring manufacturer-sponsored matches from CZ and Glock, as well as their own monthly contests. Membership is very reasonable, and allows you to rent the downstairs to do holster work, home defense shotgun, and more!
Good quick service. Friendly staff.
Awesome gun range and a wide selection of firearms
Good indoor range
Terrible customer service. Staff isn’t remotely knowledgeable about their own overpriced firearms.
Awesome!
This is among the best places I have ever shot. The people were so nice, and professional. The range was very comfortable --- and safe. The cost was ridiculously cheap! I dont know how they make any money!I talked to the guy who owns the place. I told him I was out of state, but he still treated me like a regular. This isnt a good place to shoot, its a great place to shoot.L
Im a regular here for practice shooting and to get supplies/ammo. Staff is great and very helpful. Prices are (very) fair considering the close proximity to my house. Byron, Corey and Chad are the guys that work there. They are cool and really listen to people and try to help based their preferences. 5 stars all day.
People here are awesome and super knowledgeable!
Great place to look at and buy all types of guns and accessories. Huge selection to choose from and the staff is awesome and super knowledgeable with any questions. Gun prices are the best around and range fees are more than fair. The indoor range is a blast to throw some lead down range. Best gun shop and range in KC!
Great customer service and they were very knowledgeable.
Everyone here was so helpful, I highly recommend!!!!
Trades are very underpriced, also sells faulty guns and felt like i was mistreated. also didn’t seem to care about they’re customers.
First time shooting at this range and I will say I really enjoyed it. Comfortable atmosphere in a decent location. $20 membership fee first time and then $10 any day after that. Also the $10 per day is just that, all day. Shoot for an hour, go get food and come back, only the original $10! Amazing if u ask me. Go check it out!The only con is the range is a little dark. About 20 feet out there is natural light to help with that. Splatter targets are recommended.
Only been a member for a couple weeks, but its a great place to go shoot, especially since its so close to me. I wish it was a little bit cooler in the summer, but they have good deals on rentals, and fair range fees.
I first shopped and shot here nearly 30 years ago, and frankly, used to dislike the service and facilities so badly there was a literal 15 year span when I drove 20+ miles further away to shoot. I live a few blocks away and still drove to another range several miles away to avoid this one...Now, theyre under new ownership and management, and I am impressed. The employees are far more knowledgeable and friendly now, and the range is better lit and somewhat cleaner - how clean should a shooting range be, though? Theres been a few times an employee didnt know about something, and admitted it rather than BS me to make a sale, and a few times the older employees who have gotten to know me better have actually asked ME for info. Show me another gun shop that does that.Fair prices for range time, and fewer restrictions than some other ranges in the Metro. As far as I know, this is the only indoor range that allows black powder shooting. You can shoot shotguns with bird shot, buck, or slugs. Pistols and pistol caliber rifles/carbines have always been allowed, and I understand they updated it to allow centerfire rifle shooting as well. The gun shop is on par with most of their competition, really - most folk dont realize when they gripe about the prices that the bottom line isnt really set by the shop, but by the distributors. They seem to have cut their reloading supplies down some, but overall, its not bad at all. Ammo prices are pretty fair, gun prices are in the medium-high range, but their used gun prices are VERY reasonable. Most important improvement Ive seen is in customer service. Used to be staffed by rude, often ignorant, folk that Id not want to ever see armed on the street. Now, the staff is WAY better. Still salesmen, sure, but not pushy, rude, and condescending like they USED to be. I had a revolver a few weeks back that needed a screw replaced, and I asked if they might have one on hand or be able to refer me to a good place to get one. Their gunsmith took the gun into the back, did some fiddling about with screws on hand, and modified one to work with my admittedly hard to find gun, put it together, and handed it to me good as new - at no charge!
Great customer service and helpful in selection
I have been shooting here for several years. Great place to shoot handguns and convenient location. Only disappointment is the experienced sales staff who knew a lot about firearms seem to have disappeared. New owner??
Great place! Super service!
A great shop in my opinion. Purchased multiple firearms from them over the past few years. The guys in the shop are extremely helpful and friendly. If they dont have the gun you want in the store they will find it if possible. My only criticism is that the range seems like it could use an update. Electronic distance targets would be nice. The crank wheels seem just a little dated. Still a great place to shop and get some range time. Good prices too, especially on their membership cost.
I am a really big fan of the Bullet Hole. Their staff is really knowledgeable and helpful. Their safety rules on the firing line are all pretty much what one would expect. I like the fact that an annual membership is only $25 ($15 for juniors). The place looks like it was built in 1950, then updated in 1952. I freaking love it.
So far, the staff have been excellent whenever Ive come to ask questions or recommendations on firearms. The handgun range is suited for my needs and I eventually will plan on making a purchase there in the future.
Wow, new owner, new look and new energy. You have to go and check it out, seasoned or new you will be trated as a valued member of the community.
Really nice stuff and great prices
These guys are some of the nicest and helpful people you will meet and also don’t mind doing private transfers for people. They have a nice selection of Dan Wesson 1911s in stock which is a huge plus as well. Top notch
Awesome place to be staff is real professional helpful and so far Im being real polite..
Amazing place to go through. The membership is very inexpensive and also you can bring guests.I will recommend this place over OMB Guns and also Centerfire. It is all about supporting local businesses. The staff is very knowledgeable and kind. I will not attend another weapon range other than this one.
Friendly folks, good price on ammo
I purchased my first firearm here. The store doesnt have a selection like say Cabellas but thats to be expected. I feel they had a very reasonable selection. The staff was helpful but not pushy. I liked that when I needed time to look and think they didnt bother me. When I needed help any of the staff members helped me instantly. People were chatting and joking which made it more comfortable for me. I purchased a pistol there and proceeded to use it on their range. I was disappointed that the firearm had a defect that prevented it from working correctly. The staff was instantly helpful and were able to painlessly offer me another variant. I think the second one was even nicer so Im happy with that. This pistol worked flawlessly. Their shooting range was good but Ive only been to three. I dont hold it against them that the pistol had a defect. I cant think of a better way to handle the situation than how they did. Thank you to the staff.
Really great indoor range. Havent shot there since the 70s and it looks pretty much the same. The guy at the front desk did a wonderful job of explaining safety and range rules. Will be going back to enjoy shooting in the air conditioning.
Generally, best gun store there is. Not always the best selection of stuff I like, no NFA arms, but it is a store first and foremost. As in, shaped like a store, well lit, products on shelves or behind cabinets, everything had a price tag, employees always on the floor.Thats a key one. Even the new kids (to me, theyve mostly been there 10 years now!) are not just gun store nerds, but retail employees. They will greet you, talk to you, talk to everyone even if they are with another customer, or let you browse if you want to be left alone. No complaints for credit cards instead of cash. No overt politics. If you order something they dont have, they will actually order it and call you when it comes in. Etc etc. Also: a range. A big one. On two levels. With a classroom so they run training and shooting clubs have matches there. So much of this, including rental guns, it needs a whole other review, but Ill give you just this: they just repainted and changed the soundproofing. They do that every few years. Again, professionally run and welcoming to everyone.
Handed me A semi-automatic rifle without checking to see if its cleared/unloaded and the safety was selected to fire. This was an AR rifle that was off the shelf. Is safety even a concern at this place?Anyway. I went to olathe gun shop after this and they cleared every single rifle and made sure is was on safe before handing me the weapon. Will not be going back to bullethole. The employee lacked any safe handling procedures for firearms.
Knowledgeable staff, friendly and they take safety seriously. Lots of lanes for target practice and lots of opportunities to get advanced training.
Honestly, in my opinion I would rather shoot here. It’s an old school gun store, no frills, just gun business. I really don’t like those fancy, hospital clean, suburbanite places like Frontier Justice and Centerfire. If your looking for gun purse/handbags and concealed carry clothes then go there.
Very rude could not even tell me what they had in stock. Person on the Phone told me this is not amazon? Worthless
The Bullet Hole does not disappoint!First off, they stay open until 9PM on weekdays. I went in yesterday to browse their shotgun selection and left with a very fair priced CZ 75D (pictured). They have a massive selection of CZs! Corey and Byron were very knowledgeable about all the firearms and easy to talk to. I will definitely be a returning customer for as long as I live in the area.I couldnt be more satisfied with my first experience at The Bullet Hole!!
We had a membership to Bullet Hole for three years, then we moved away from the area.Nice little shop. decent new and used firearms selections. handgun range only (and 22 rifle I believe too). Manual target retrieval system (low tech) and membership fees about average with everyone else. Lane fees a tad higher though.Staff is amiable, if not friendly. Its a range. You get what you pay for.
I went for the first time to use the range. My weapon (Glock. 40) shot accurately as always, but I felt that my sights were off a little. I asked one of the guys to check the sights and he stated that they were good. When I went to the range today my shooting was WAY OFF.
Anyone who says these folks arent nice is flat out lying...Ive been to plenty of gun ranges and this sweet couple are as nice as they come. The older gentleman. Is pretty knowledgeable so if you are a beginner I would definitely recommend as a safe place to get away and learn in a very safe environment. His wife is also very kind and very professional. The prices for ammo are a bit much but not too much. And they even have a few guns for you to rent or buy.He DOES allow rifles contrary to another lie posted he even has a rifle bench you can use for free.
Extremely knowledgeable and helpful!
Great place. Been coming here for years. Fair pricing and easy going environment, especially love the location. Highly recommend
I DO NOT recommend this store for potential first time gun owners. I went in twice during 03/23 and 03/24. On the 23rd I was unable to get assistance after 22 mins and left. To be fair they appeared understaffed for a Saturday. I believe they only had 3 workers. However, on the 24th I entered right at open. I was upfront with the employee and let him know I was looking for my first handgun. The employee was knowledgeable however he seemed more intent on impressing me with his knowledge of fire arms rather than addressing my first timer questions. Towards the end the employee simply said “I’m not here to coddle you, I’m here to sell guns”. I understand they’re a business but this type of attitude is alienating for potential first time owners. I inevitability went to Frontier Justice where the employees were happy to entertain and answer my novice questions. If you are an experienced gun owner you may enjoy this atmosphere.
Great range, great people.
Great gun shop feel with exceptional service and inventory. They also have a lot of opportunities for classes.
Great place to shoot. The guys are nice and very helpful
Staff is nice, range is very decent, they do not hesitate to stop any nonsense on the range. I feel safe here. They would get 5 stars if the range was climate controlled.
I really like this place. Staff has always treated me politely and the prices are good. Ive never had to wait for a lane and I always have a great time firing my handguns.
Good place to shoot. The staff are friendly.
Raised prices/fees of all kinds - without any updates or quality increase. Some staff can be rude and questionable while handling firearms. Lucky for this place that there isn’t a competitor too close. For $6 more, Target Time in Blue Springs, MO allows pistol and rifle shooting with updated, clean, and well lit facilities.
Not the closest range to my home but the service keeps me coming back every week or two. Staff is knowledgeable and quick to assist you. Great place for beginners looking for a place to start or seasoned shooters looking for an affordable range to visit regularly.Must have membership1-year membership is $20Use of the range is $10 all day
