Everyone on staff at this location is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Also, tons of employees helping out and on-task. Ive had multiple staff members ask if they can offer advice for my landscaping projects at home. I love this place because they offer superior plants and flowers to the big box stores. Use these guys, support a local business.

A landmark store. Feels like a treasure trove and hard to resist. Autumn plants (hardy mums) store display are a sensory feast. Knowledgeable staff. After sale service esp. for trees could be better.

I wasnt sure about which trees I wanted to purchase and the employee sat there with me looking over countless photos and helped me choose what was right. They were patient and kind and left me feeling less anxious about such large purchases. Needless to say, Im two months in with 4 new trees and they are doing SO well and were in love with them!Thank you!

Both locations always have a wide selection of healthy plant materials. In addition, many of their staff are very knowledgeable. All the staff is helpful and will direct you to the right person if you have questions they cant answer. Some of their plant materials may be more expensive than Walmart or Home Depot, but they are healthy and well cared for which means they will work well in your yard.

This must be one of my favorite places to pop in and have a look around. The plants are of spectacular quality, the staff are pleasant and informative, and the selection is one of the best Ive found in Kansas City.Its also a great place to clear your head.I very much recommend giving Suburban Lawn and Garden a go.Also of note are their informational cards pertaining to care. They have lil tid bits on there that I find quite helpful.

Great selection of plants and pots, gardening equipment and decor for the yard. Indoor shopping and outdoors for the trees, shrubs, larger perennials, ceramic and stone statuary with helpful staff in both places. They do have a variety of herb plants and a Gardeners seeds rack of seeds in envelopes. Call them for your special needs questions.

The store was very clean and well organized. Everyone we saw was friendly and helpful. My kids especially enjoyed the model train. 👍

Unfortunately this location is not great for contractors pulling a trailer or who need large stock. On my last visit there was no place for me to park, so I had to park across the street and down the block. Their selection was poor, especially considering that it was April 14th and the plants are ready to get in the ground. I was shopping for larger balled and burlapped stock and they had nothing.To top it off, employees were wearing masks outside! Completely absurd!Edit: At the end of the day, I was able to purchase everything that I needed at the K-7 Lenexa location.

Prices are a little high but the selection is exceptional.

Gardeners are freindly and theres a good selection of seeds. But as a heads up about 97-99.9% of their live plant inventory seems to be for ornamentals.So with the exception of a few kale and herb plants in the spring to summer theres practicaly nothing in terms of edibles. If you come here with dreams of starting a permaculture garden, look elsewhere.That being said they have every other thing you think you might need for a garden. From pond supplies, pest control, bulk seeds, organic fertilizers, statuary, even supplies for a garden railway.

Ive been going to suburban for years and have had exceptional service in the past. The last year, however, customer service is mediocre for the outdoor section. To protect plants, an employee suggested drowning chipmunks with a bucket half full of water and sunflower seeds and then throwing them in the trash. Hard pass and not humane at all. ☹️

Not cheap (except for gravel) but the widest selection with the nicest stock in town!

Selections were disappointing. Its early in the season but I was expecting more. There are usually employees that are knowledgeable and can help. No one greeted me today or asked if I needed assistance. Expect to pay a premium price. They do carry a lot of statuary and decorative rock. Loading is done by staff and is easy to access.

4 employees. One customer. We walk in, nobody said anything for about 5 minutes until the one employee helping the one customer helped us. Why bother having the other 3? They clearly saw us walk in and were too busy chatting with each other to even say hi. The one employee however, was helpful.

Great selection and awesome place to window shop but prices are very high. Perhaps use it as a place to get plants you.cant get elsewhere? Tree selection best around. Staff is very friendly and knowledgable.

The staff was helpful, directing us to the plants we wanted. The layout signage was nice. I especially liked the way one young female cashier included two children in their parents sale.Unfortunately, a young bearded cashier did not give us the two for one sale price. We called a handful of nurseries for prices. Suburbans two for one deal was why we drove across town. There was a sign posted, indicating the sale, and one of the staff members pointed it out.The bearded cashier also told a customer that a higher priced brand could not be discounted if the lower priced brand ran out.I found it sexist that the womens long rose cutting gloves were $4 more expensive and much smaller than the mens.In the end, we DID get the sale price. We asked the bearded man to do the transaction over again, despite his complaint.

Pick somewhere else. Employees do not care to assist you and if they don’t have something they just tell you to try another support. Support local instead. These people don’t care.

Great selection and a wonderful setup. Beautiful flowers, plants and trees. I loved that they had a playground for children to play on. Helpful staff even offered my son a mini pumpkin to take home for free!

They now have some people with degrees, but theyre not happy. The store seems to have a extremely high turn over of staff. Its almost like walking into any essential business where the corporate managers care more about profit then employees health and well being. Someone died, thats okay they can be replaced in a minute.I have a mixed filling on them.

I get my bulk mulch from them every year. Fast delivery, Good prices, free delivery (w/ minimum order) and they have a split truck to I can order regular and playground mulch with the same delivery. Great service.

Suburban staff are lovers of all outdoor flowers, plants, trees, at al, and are a Tremendous help in answering any questions about planting, gardening and landscaping. They have so many beautiful garden supplies, as well.

I shopped at Suburban for probably over a decade, and the plant quality has been typically good. They are one of the most expensive nurseries around though, and our last purchase has been not a very good one.We bought a 3 maple and a 3 linden tree, and had them plant it. Both trees have done very poorly, and I even called for a warranty on the linden tree as it was losing leaves and not settling in, even towards the end of the warranty period. This was a $450 purchase for the Linden tree, so I wasnt about to call it a wash. One of Suburbans tree guys came out, said the mulch was a little high, and pulled back about 1-2 mulch from the base of the tree. The tree continued to suffer, despite my watering and fertilizing. Now half the tree is dead. I called Suburban, and they said it was out of warranty. I argued that when it was under warranty, you more or less denied my claim and the tree is dying in spite of you expertly pulling back the mulch. They then forwarded me to the owner, Matt, who is extremely difficult to get into.I had to call him 3-4 times before he called me back. He seemed amenable to replacing the tree with a 2 tree, and said he would send me a picture to make sure that was ok. Seemed ok, until he never sent the picture, and then now I havent been able to get him to return my calls for the last two months.I suppose the moral of the story is, if you have something you need warrantied, push for it. Disappointed at the outcome here, and I will be taking my money elsewhere.
