Great quality work and honesty. Attentive to details. I would recommend A-1 to anyone. We went under contract in Feb 2021 for a pool knowing of Covid delays. The A-1 team was straight forward about the supply chain mayhem and long material lead-time. They sought feedback during the install and worked hard to keep the project moving.

Been using them for YEARS and never had problems until this year.Owner is unresponsive, does not return phone calls (after several messages left, including going down there in person). No one could fix my water issues with the pool, never had problems until this year. Was going to purchase new liner but giving that business elsewhere (a place that actually cares and has great customer service and was able to fix my water problems). Im especially glad not to be giving them my business after seeing the other reviews on liner installation. While A1 is convenient, its worth my 20 min trek to a pool company that cares and returns phone calls.(on a positive note, the daughter is friendly and very helpful - owner should learn from her)

This company is falling off a cliff and will not stop…. I read all these positive reviews from years back and now I agree with all the negative ones currently.My personal experience is I call, and I call, and no one gets back to me and when they do, they seem not interested in my business….. I hinted at building an in ground pool next year and finally I got a rude call back from some young woman… I would never use a company like this. It seems like a management change, wait honestly probably an entire staff change is needed here, or just close the doors already. I’m sorry but I would be ashamed to do business with a company that takes forever to return phone calls. Please avoid this place at all costs!

Tested water, was given great advice on how to balance my pool water. Was very knowledgeable and professional. Although they were busy she never made me feel rushed or that my concerns where not important. I will definitely return and recommend.

When I initially moved to seymour I used them, Josh was a nice guy, yet they were over priced…. I moved on to Reliable in Naugatuck…. But in a pinch i would only expect Josh to treat me right… as a professional…. Anyways I spoke to Alexandra - aka team leader (oh please) literally it’s another world here…. Still way over priced, no clue what’s what, lack of knowledge when it came to my heater etc honestly I had no choice but to go to Sharper image because reliable does not service my heater to fix my issue, the owner should take note she does not deserve a job just being nice or what not the other comment said. Please do something here. Thank you.

I am so EXTREMELY disappointed with this company all around. Their behavior since the beginning has been, and continues to be, unacceptable. This company DOES NOT COMMUNICATE. They are UNTRUSTWORTHY. They refuse to completely fix a problem we’ve had since installation by never calling us back to schedule an appointment!When we first had them come install our in-ground pool liner, they told us they would call to let us know when they were coming to drain the pool and begin the work. THEY DID NOT CALL. They showed up when we were not home and began draining the pool into a portion of our yard (and neighbors yard!) that FLOODS. Expecting a call, I had not informed anyone ahead of time to drain the pool somewhere else, as I expected to be able to SHOW them where NOT to drain the pool when they arrived at a time we had scheduled. Because they did not communicate or schedule a day we would be home, they flooded a portion of our yard and our neighbor’s yard while we were not home, killing many plants that our neighbor was justly upset about.They also never explained the fact that the cost to refill the pool ($750) would be a completely separate charge and billed directly to us from the pool water supplier. Since they took care of the scheduling and contacting the water supplier, we expected that the cost would have been rolled into the final price of the installation. While I understand we didn’t ASK if the cost was rolled in, they DID NOT INFORM US UPFRONT that it was going to be a separate charge, or even give us an estimate on how much that separate charge was going to be!After installation of our pool liner, almost immediately the liner began falling out of the track in certain areas around the pool. I assume because the liner was under a 1-year warranty, they did come out at least once or twice to quickly tack up the liner in those areas at no cost. HOWEVER, they only “patched up” the areas that were falling out and did not in anyway try to solve the problem as a whole. THEY DID NOTHING to prevent the liner from falling out in all the other areas. The liner continues to fall out all around the pool, getting worse and worse. WE CALLED SEVERAL TIMES during the summer of 2018 to get the liner put back in the track, knowing it is their busy season and being extremely patient, but NEVER received a call back to schedule a time. We ended up closing the pool knowing the liner was falling in at spots and planning on getting it fixed the next pool season. We now have our pool open, and the liner has fallen out of the track in many more spots. We called on June 10th, June 24th, and June 27th, explaining the situation and was continually promised that Mario would call back to schedule a time to come out. It is now July 8th and we still have NEVER received a call back, even after explaining how we’ve been trying to get them to repair this for over a year now. Because of their lack in following up with us, our liner continues to fall out of the track, and now even their “repair work” (which was just them sticking some extra plastic pieces into the track with the liner) is falling out.

Very nice to deal with and if you have any troubles they will take care of you. Would def recommend purchasing a pool or spa with them.

Mario just completed a new patio and in-ground pool liner replacement. We could not be happier with the results. He stayed on top of the work, kept us advised on delivery and installation of the liner. We have used his company for a number of years for repairs, supplies and other services. We felt strongly enough about his reputation and honesty that we did not even get a second quote. I would have no reservation in recommending him to anyone installing or repairing a pool. We are very satisfied customers.

Terrible company to deal with, the office staff should be fired, bring back the old staff with experience. I used this company for 6 long years, I was happy, I felt the experience which is absolutely a must for my pool was there. Now it’s lack of any experience, lack of knowledge.... I highly recommend going anywhere else. I now go to prospect it’s terrible the ride I have to take but I can’t stand the new “way” and the new staff.

Not a good experience, spoke to Haydee, she failed to call me back when I’ve called a few times trying to figure out why my Pool is bad as it is, alex to quote told me to go down and test water I did with Haydee and she gave vague instructions (lack of experience) I called again and Alex (lack of experience) told me to bring it back again which didn’t work... I went to Leisure time and they nailed it.... I cannot believe with all the comments about one guy they use these two people with no experience or knowledge.... something needs to change. Bad management all around. I hope the owner of this company shuts it down or brings back the old staff. Thank you.

We made the mistake of going to a large pool store to buy our pool (and the decision to install it ourselves, yikes!). Namco service was horrible, waited 4 weeks for our pool pump only to hear they couldnt find our order so it must be on back order. Called A-1 and they were Awesome, they had a pump for us a day later. They worked with us through every step we went through and were quick to act whatever the need was (and there were many). Alexandra is the best! We really appreciate all she did for us. I would recommend anyone to A-1 Pools!

I visit here regularly for pool chemicals and water testing, they operate a clean, well kept store in Oxford, unlike most of those other stores they do keep it personal and down to earth with me, Josh is a well rounded store guy, overall very professional when it comes to his knowledge about chemistry and his experiences with pools, Veronica also to note this year was very pleasant, and together they worked well as a team. Sorry for the late review guys happy holidays, and I hope your boss takes good care of you in the off season. See you in the spring.

Two years ago i was going to another store outside of town for my chemicals and support for my pool & my hot tub, and i was having so much trouble, last year a friend of mine said try the local guy, give him a chance, and I have been very pleased so far with the support and results Josh has given me and my husband, he pays attention and doesnt oversell, for the first time in years we saw the bottom of our pool crystal clear... and our hot tub isnt cloudy anymore either. I recommend them highly.

I purchased a pool vacuum here and the day I bought it there was an issue. Called the store and was told you can’t bring it back once it’s been in the water. I asked if someone can call me to help me out maybe I was doing something wrong. They took my number.. no call back. I called again 2 days later asking if someone can call me to help me out with this pool vacuum that still wasn’t working (would stop vaccuming after 5-10 minutes) they once again took my number... never called me back. Now I have a 200 dollar pool vacuum that I can’t return nor get any help with. If the product is defective they can easily send it back to pentair as a defective item. Very disappointed. I’ve been using this store for over 6 years with great service. Maybe they changed owners..

Just wanted to say how great of a company this is. Honestly the way this store is run is amazing they have a guy in there who you can have an honest not a pushy conversation with and the experience he has when i call with my problems with either my pool or hot tub is amazing... he wont over sell you, but he will put you on the right path. Mario, Josh, and the rest of the team at A-1 have been awesome from the design of our pool and patio through annual service. In addition, the spa that we bought from them gives my family year-round enjoyment. This winter, they performed some expert repair on short notice, too. We maintain our pool and spa perfectly with support and supplies from the store. I highly recommend them to anyone interested in a great pool or spa.

Amazing store, they always have the right part or chemical for whatever I need, I could say they need a little bit more floats and such, but the manager there is top notch, he helps me every time I have a problem he fixes it and explains in detail what to do. 5 Stars for this business because of him. Glad your there on Sundays too!

Last year I looked into in-ground pools and priced them at 4 places in CT. I found that they were all within $1000 on a 40K pool so I went with A-1 and Mario since I had friends that knew him, and was very happy with my purchase. He showed up on time and stayed in touch and the pool is awesome! He also closed it at the end of the season and opened it this year. Prices are very fair and service is great.

A-1 Pools just completed our pool and they did a phenomenal job! We decided to go with them because they have over 35 years of experience. Mario is great and you can tell that he has many years of experience because he knows it all! This being our first pool, we had many questions and he was able to answer them all. Would highly recommend A-1 Pools!

Wonderful pool company, Mario runs a tight ship, and his crew is amazing when it comes to pool openings and closings. They recommended me taking a water sample down to the retail store this year after my pool opening showed it was green and in 72 hours Josh had our pool back to normal. I am thrilled with this company. PS Mario give Josh a raise, he’s always there!

Well, first off they have an amazing retail store... I bought a large big green egg from these guys.. and Josh and Leo put it together for me a couple years back in the dark... boy that was fun to watch, Even though I am in Southbury, currently I buy spa chemicals from here, and Ive sent a lot of my friends to this store and they are happy with the service they get. I will look to them in the future for when my hot springs spa dies. Great job all around boys.

Great store in general, pricing is fair. We do business with them on a regular basis, friendly staff... good owner met him on several occasions, gave me a rare discount because of my continued issue with phosphates but the pool has sense cleared nicely. I would highly recommend Josh and his staff at the store. He knows whats going on with my pool on a regular basis.. I cant complain about the service he and the store staff provide. Eight years and counting my friends. Thank you for your service to our community.

This is for Mr. Miller. I bought my first above ground pool from another company, and it was destroyed by a tree falling on it... but I have to admit was on my second liner in less than 2 years... which made me want to get rid of the pool in general, instead I decided to give a-1 a shot in Oxford to get me a better pool, and hopefully a better liner. About this guy I met with...unlike that other company, he sat with me, took his time, went through the process in detail...and made sure that this time, I wouldnt be replacing liners so often. This is my 5th year owning this pool, and no liner changes!!! Also to note I have never been more pleased after checking in over the winter again with him knowing this company is succeeding. I know I wouldnt go anywhere else again. I want to wish a1 the best and I hope this season is great for all of us. Thank you so much.

Great pool & hot tub store, my local store doesnt carry what i need in Naugatuck but not far from my home is this wonderful place, i have an above ground pool & a hot tub so they have everything i need to maintain them both. :-) I recommend talking to the store guy for anything you need he is very polite and never oversells me on anything.

I bought an above ground pool from these guys and I love it! I would highly recommend them and the Morrison Brothers! Josh is an excellent sales guy and has product knowledge that can’t be surpassed. Next year I get my robot! Thanks guys all around!

Horrible experience with this company had no clue what was going on. Finding out they replaced Josh with the owners daughter was an absolute horrible mistake!!!! I don’t care what they say, Don’t go here til Josh returns..(probably never) zero experience, lack of professionalism and complete novice service. Seriously go anywhere else....

Great hot tub supply store. I wouldnt go anywhere else for my hot tub chemicals or supplies. I just picked up a pre-filter for my hose... this is the first time my water was clear when I filled my tub and I didnt have to spend a ton money on chemicals trying to get metals out. Thank you Josh for recommending such a product. Im very proud to do business with Josh and a-1 pools.

Nice place & helpful staff the only issue is that they are way more expensive on certain items. I found exactly the same products for a whole lot less. If you have deep pockets then go for it otherwise do your homework

Great place to buy my pool supplies, Josh is a great sales guy, he has more mind blowing knowledge about the products he is selling than anyone else I have dealt with in the past. I highly recommend A-1 pools in Oxford for any pool supply needs.

A-1 installed my inground pool about 15 years ago and it still looks and functions great!! They open and close my pool every year and I test my water at the convenient store they have in Oxford where I also purchase all my chemicals. Mario and his crew are true professionals!!

I paid for a cleaning and new sand for my sand filter. After spending so much money on chemicals try to clear the water after a week nothing happened. The water was clear but cloudy. So I decided to drain the water after a week. Pool was never clean and the guys dumped the old sand in my pool. Called the pool company to let him know what his guys did/didnt do all I got was a bunch of excuses.

Mario and his crew did a great job installing our in-ground pool. Would recommend to anyone looking.

Pool is nice but A1 poured concrete around the pool & in only 7/8 months there were numerous cracks in it! A mason pointed out several mistakes made by A1 . They neglected to do certain things that would have helped the concrete endure. It didnt even make it a year! Clearly they are not qualified to pour patios & should stick to pool installations only. They also removed several truckloads of soil from my property even after I expressly told them not to. They took it from me & likely charged some other customer for it. Sneaky! Would NOT recommend them.

The owner came to measure my pool to install a new liner. We had previously spoken about the price for it, while measuring my pool he mentioned there will be an additional charge for the drainage. I mentioned a few competitors in the area to see if he would match (I know some companies do that) and he got so upset and stormed off. I asked him to stay since we already began the process and of course apologized if I offended him in anyway and he refused to stay. I was so surprised and upset when he left I called him back to see if I can fix whatever I said that may have upset him. He then told me I would have to drive 35 min to his office to sign a contract and to put down a deposit and he would not be returning that day... For being the owner of a company, he provided me with horrible customer service. I would not recommend this company to anyone! I called Galvin Pools in Orange and they responded so quickly and was even able to match the price!

Our home came with a 20x40 inground pool that was installed in 1969 and in rough shape - liner was sagging in corners, concrete decking was cracked and settled unevenly with large gaps around pool walls, plumbing was insufficient for volume with only 1 skimmer and 2 returns. We obtained quotes from 5 local companies on various aspects of repair but put off for as long as possible since the job required nearly a complete rebuild and we could still enjoy swimming, up until we opened this Spring to an empty hole. All quotes were expensive, it was a big job, but we went with A1 given our confidence in Mario and his team. When they removed the liner off it was evident that the steel walls were in worse shape than expected, rusted through in spots, and were being pushed in by shifts in the concrete decking. Mario brought the pool back to life with many improvements, did not upcharge from quote despite additional labor on walls, and negotiated with subcontractors on waste removal and masonry work. The mason (Straightline Masonry) also did excellent work on a new paver deck. I appreciated frequent communication with Mario throughout the process and his crew worked fast. We love the new old pool and would highly recommend A1 for pool restoration with attention to detail.

BAD BUSINESS! These guys are a joke when it comes to customer service. I signed an agreement and gave my credit card info. They were the cheapest, now I know why. They dont make appointments, or work on a schedule. I got a call out of the blue on a Saturday morning, we werent home. We waited for TWO MORE WEEKS, and after calling again and again leaving messages, I called someone on the cell number and he said I thought you got someone else, its been so long.. THey slacked off, and waited 3 weeks, my pool is now a disaster, and now I have no idea whats happened w/ my card info now.DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL.

The best at what they do! Sense they opened the store in oxford, i believe it was 2009, before that i used to have to drive to Milford (i refused to go to southbury or newtown for rude customer service) and my god, im glad those days are over, buying shotty chemicals that never worked from a big box store, it was a total waste of time, and gas money... yes i do pay more for a-1s chemicals they sell but its well worth it because they work...and work well, they go the extra mile when it comes to my pool, and treating me with respect, and youd be crazy to go anywhere else. I really cant wait to open my pool get my water tested, and hopefully be swimming soon enough.

Excellent service and products.

Avoid getting a pool from them at all costs. Pools are vastly overpriced, they will not install the options you chose or discussed and will put up a fuss about it or give some excuse if you complain. If you order a new pool in the spring dont expect it to be finished in time for the summer. Was originally quoted at 2-3 weeks and it was well over 9 weeks, with there being large gaps (sometimes as long as a week and a half) with no one showing up to work on the pool.
