I went during the day about 2:00 PM. when I got there I had to use the restroom right away. I walked into the main building and no one was there or greeted me. I moved right through the next door which led outside to use the bathroom. (they had both public men and womens restrooms.) I came back in and my friend was taking to a man at the desk up front. We paid and got a time to go. The wait time for our party of (3) was maybe 15minutes. Not very long at all. The wait provided us plenty of time to look around the gift shop and check out some of the cool gem stones and fossils found from the area that were on display or for sale. The rain was on and off, but they did have a bucket of umbrellas to use if you didnt bring one which was thoughtful and would allow someone to still enjoy the tour. Our guide got a call from the office as we had already started down the path and were in the first cave-the office wanted to add one more guest who had just arrived for a tour to our group of 3 making it a group of four and the tour guide. It really wasnt an issue by any means. the tour had just started and they made sure to fill him in on any details he may have missed. But I kept feeling that it was impromptu and strange. We continued on the trail to the next cave which was much bigger and were told about fun events that occur in certain times of the year where they tell stories around a fire while eating ham n beans. It sounds like a great time, unfortunately they didnt have anything of the sort for us at the time. Understandably because it was raining, daytime, a week day. The tour lasted roughly an hour and was a good time, but felt that the price we were charged was a bit expensive for all that we did. The group wasnt very big which was good as we could hear better and see more, but felt like more people could have made it more fun or if there was more interaction. The host of our tour was very kind and well informed so definitely appreciated that. They also offered to take our photo but from at least what I heard never offered to send the picture to us or offered it for purchase. So I guess they just took our photo to have? Haha either way we were smiling. It was fun time and the cave is beautiful. Id recommend it.

I highly recommend the dinner tour. The owners and staff have put a tremendous amount of time and effort researching the history of the area and do a great job of communicating it to their guests. They also do a fine job of reenactments of critical historical activities. I also appreciated their sustainable approval to their activities. Very well done. The beans, cornbread and tators were a hit.

Ive been to this cave several times on field trips with my children, but last week was the first time Ive taken a regular tour. Our guide, Jake, was very personable and knowledgeable. He spent time looking for and pointing out cave-dwelling animals and made sure everyone in the group had an opportunity to see them before moving on. The cave itself is a wonderful piece of history, right here in our small town. He shared the known history of both the cave and the general area of southwest Missouri and talked about the different cave formations in language that was easy to understand yet didnt feel dumbed down. He was leading a very large group with a lot of children and was able to keep control and on subject both politely and professionally. The other employees and one of the owners were also present in the gift shop and they were friendly and fun. Im looking forward to going on a lantern tour this fall. Im planning on bringing my out-of-town friends and relatives to experience this lovely attraction whenever I can.

We live less then an hour away and have seen the signs for years. We have talked about going but have never made it there. The only bad thing about going was that we should have gone sooner. We showed up late, after the last tour had left, and not only did the owners let us do the tour, but the Husband took my wife, son, and I on our own personal tour. Best Tour Guide Ever. I wanted to ask so many questions and could have talked to him for hours but it was late and Im sure he was getting hungry. Wish we had more time. Cant wait to see the rest of the cave or do the late tour this Fall. Thank you for your kindness and for the conversation sir and maam.

By far the BEST cave tour in the state of Missouri, very informative and interesting. The owners were extremely welcoming and friendly. If you go at the right time the regular tours are very small and feel extremely personal, unlike Fantastic Caverns or Meramec Caverns. For the price you get breathtaking views of a very historical cave along with a great history lesson. I personally went on both tours, the regular tour and the wild tour. The regular tour is great for pictures, while the wild tour is a more up close and personal experience with a cave. On the regular tour our guide, Eric, the archeologist, at the cave gave what I would call the funniest history lesson ever. He was very knowledgeable about not only the geological history of the cave but also the human history of the cave as well. As for the wild tour, all I can say is AMAZING. There isnt any other cave in Missouri that does anything close to this that I know of. The owner Kevin who is the wild tour guide was extremely nice and friendly throughout the whole tour and was willing to help if you needed it. The wild tour was something I will NEVER forget. In order to go on the wild tour you will need to book it about 24 hours in advance. When I booked mine we were set to be the only 3 people on it but another group from Florida, which I thought would have ruined the experience but it almost made it more enjoyable, not to mention the owners cut us a deal they dropped the usual $75 per person price down to $50 and gave us a free helmet rental. All in all, this was the best cave tour in all of Missouri so far, which is saying something because Ive been in almost all of the show caves in the state.

Great for the family! Expect a one hour guided tour ($60 for a family of 4) to gain entrance to the cave. Begin at the visitor center and gift shop. The kids can play on the climbing tower (free!) or mine for gemstones (for a price) while waiting for the tour to begin. You get lots of history (Osage, Civil War) and science (how cave formations are made, animals you see). The cave environment changes through the seasons and based on precipitation. In The fall they do a lantern tour. We went in early August and the cave was nice and cool. It was quiet and peaceful in the cave. But there are times of year when the water coming thru the cave is loud and exciting. The path is paved with a railing and the pace is slow. We saw bats, salamanders, crawfish, fossils, cave etchings, and more. If it had been just me and the hubs, we would have opted for the adventure tour to go deeper in the cave. But I think you have to book that ahead of time. Overall experience was AWESOME! Highly recommend.
