Just the nicest places to buy from. Always very helpful. David and Michel go out of their way to help. Everything is always packaged so nicely too.

Amazing programming. Generous donation of owners time and resources to educate and inform the public via YouTube and the affordable Virtual Doll Convention. Their virtual programming is like having access to a museum’s entire specialty toy collection in my living room. Rose Percy’s trousseau is a helpful resource for ideas in my own work and hobby. Can’t say enough to thank them for all they do.

Many years ago I purchased one of their dolls. It was purchased based on an advertisement in ANTIQUE DOLL COLLECTOR magazine. Recently, to my dismay, I showed it to a doll expert, and found out that only the body is antique, while the head is a reproduction!! I paid $ 650.00 U.S. funds (I am a Canadian), only to find out the doll isnt worth much. I feel ripped off!

I was stunned to read such a negative review of the Carmel Doll Shops two owners. I have bought from this shop for more than 18 years and that is the exact opposite of what I have experienced. The negative reviewer says, dont be fooled by those positive reviews----does that mean we do not have the right to say anything positive about the Carmel Doll Shop---even if its totally true??? Who is this dictator? I refuse to be dictated by this negative vindictive person.Michael and David are ethical, kind, knowledgeable, and very generous. They take time with their customers, treating them with respect and eagerly share their doll knowledge, which is unsurpassed. Education has always been an important topic with them. They have shared, promoted, and excited collectors through numerous published doll articles, books, lectures, and programs, expanding our knowledge base considerably. This is in addition to their charity work, such as the Rose Percy events, which have helped our Veterans and their families immeasurably. The Carmel Doll Shop policy of unconditional return privilege and a generous layaway policy makes purchasing their fabulous dolls less stressful and more doable. They work with customers to help them build their dream collections. The only negative is that there is never enough doll time to spend with these two fun generous Carmel Doll Shop owners!

The owners are friendly and very knowledgeable about dolls. Their shop is like a little museum of beautiful, rare antique dolls and accessories.

I went on the site to find their address and was shocked that the reviews werent 5+. I glanced at the reviews and was very disappointed to see that anyone can write any thing they want about a shop and the owners whether true or not. What makes people so hateful and jealous? I can honestly say that the Carmel Doll Shop is one of my favorite places to visit-so magical. The shop is filled with every kind of exceptional doll. It is such an amazing place! Michael and David are the most generous, experienced, well read, educated doll people around. And best of all, they share their knowledge! They truly go out of their way to make your visit one that you will never forget. Thank you for every thing that the two of you do for the doll world!

I have bought from them in the past; soon after I realised how much money they took from me for a doll valued in the range of $500/$700, did charge nearly $2,000 for the doll ! The doll was then valued from several major auction houses in the range of $500 to $700, further to this not from the time period stated. I also think their business is dodgy; their obscene reply left to another customer before tells you all you need to know about this business; watch out before spending your money with them. I found the three positive reviews left highly suspicious; reviews left within the same week and most likely written by themselves or left by their friends, don`t be fooled by those positive reviews. Businesses such this one should be avoided; they want others to believe that it is just competition or personal agenda, the usual excuse! My view is that a proper business should take note of any constructive feedback positive or negative in order to provide a better service to their clientele.

I have found Michael Canadas and David Robinson to be Masters of customer service and skilled servants to their grateful customers. The energy, enthusiasm for the doll collecting hobby, and ethical manner in which they treat every person they deal with, is the Gold Standard in the Industry. In addition, the fact that they created the Rose Percy Foundation with the intent to support the Veterans and Active Duty Military, and have gained the acclaim and loyal following of many that attend the events, is beyond impressive. They personally donate numerous items to the events, and work tirelessly to create an experience that rivals that of attending Galas that end up the Town and Country! I work hard to earn the money to purchase my treasures. Regardless of price, which I find theirs very fair, am respected for whatever I choose and encouraged to have fun and share the joy of doll collecting. What could be better... Oh... They have updates and answer the phones when eager customers call to buy things... Lastly, my Grandmother was a simple lady, and she always said, if you cant say something nice, leave a review somewhere else....

Obviously the bad review was left by someone with a personal grudge and agenda. Carmel Doll Shop has always been well recognized for having great dolls, being totally honest and trustworthy. They have long been major contributors to the advancement of the hobby with their articles, work for UFDC, and many educational as well as charitable endeavors. I have purchased from them frequently over the years and many of my most wonderful dolls have come from their amazing inventory. It is very sad to read such an unfair and unfounded review! Fortunately most of us collectors know better.

I was astonished to read this scathing review, as I have had only the opposite experience at Carmel Doll Shop. I have found the owners, Michael Canadas and David Robinson to be knowledgeable and professional. I have always enjoyed our interactions, and their customer service is impeccable. I have been buying dolls from them for twenty years, and there is no one I trust more to help me build an outstanding collection of premium antique dolls. It is obvious that Carmel Doll Shop is also in the forefront of promoting doll collecting, research and preservation. They offer educational programs and sewing workshops conducted by the topmost people in the doll world, and there is always a wait list. These events are so popular that often a second day must be added. A visit to Carmel Doll Shop includes the chance to tour a delightful and encompassing doll museum, where one can feast ones eyes on the best examples of many types of dolls. Set in the beautiful Monterey Bay area, many people consider a visit to Carmel Doll Shop a destination vacation. If their popularity at doll shows and convention salesrooms are any indication, Michael and David are the dealers that collectors flock to, trust and buy from.
