I’ve taken dance lessons at PG Dance Studio for about 2 years and appreciate the professional dance instructors who are patient and make learning fun. It’s the best place to be on a Friday night! There is a group lesson followed by a dance party. From beginners to advanced dancers, everyone is welcome, and there is something for everyone with private or group lessons.PG Dance is not just a studio; it’s a community of friends. 💃🕺🏿
I had a great time and learned plenty types of dances. Instructors were very patient, skilled, and fun. Couldn’t have asked for better. Thanks Ms Olga!
It is my sanctuary! I love going to Pacific Grove Dance Studio. Leo and Olga are great teachers, amazing dancers with a wonderful personality. They are very professional. It is a pure joy to go and dance at the studio. Not to mention it helps me cope with my chronic migraines!
In addition to all of the teachers being incredible dancers, they are also excellent teachers. I have had private lessons with Sergei for the last few months and its been a transformative experience. Although I have danced all of my life, I have always danced alone - not in paired ballroom. I felt awkward at first - and Sergei is always patient with me - far more than I am with my self. I highly recommend taking all of the teachers.
This studio has changed my life! The instructors have an amazing way of balancing their lessons with challenging techniques, in a fun and relaxed environment. There are dance students of every level here, and everyone is treated with the same focus, and fun energy. I came to this studio on a whim to do something fun with my life, and challenge myself to do something outside my comfort zone. In one lesson, I was hooked! This studio has far exceeded my expectations, and my dance lessons are the best part of my week. It really is beautiful to watch everyone grow as a dancer here, and see the joy and confidence it brings to their lives. Leo, Olga, Sergei and Natasha have a magical way of bringing out the dancer in all of us. Whether youre interested in learning the art of ballroom dancing at a casual level, or competitive level, this is THE place to be for you!!!
Pacific Grove Dance Studio became a very special place of recreation for my husband and me.All instructors of this studio are talented teachers and professional dancers. The studio feels very welcoming. Students of all levels will improve their skills here.My husband and I enjoy our individual lessons - currently we work on Argentine tango, Viennese Waltz and rumba. Group lessons are pretty intense and satisfying - here we learn a variety of dances. And there is a time and place to show our dancing skills on Friday night social dancing events.I recommend Pacific Grove Dance Studio to anybody who wants to learn to dance or improve their dancing skills.
I would like to express my gratitude to the teachers - Leo, Olga, Sergei, and Natasha - for their professionalism, patience, kindness, and compassion. They changed my life dramatically. After three months, I have learned how to follow, dance, and compete. All people here are friendly. It is a lot of fun to dance during dance parties. I am very happy to be a member of this big family - Pacific Grove Dance studio. Thank you for my happiness, dear teachers!
Pacific Grove Dance is a fun place to learn ballroom dancing. The instructors, Leo and Olga, are both experts in a variety of dance styles. They have a unique talent for tailoring instruction to meet the goals of each student, from students interested in competitive dancing to those who love to social dance. The group classes are fun and are taught at a pace that a beginning dancer can follow and learn easily.A beautiful studio, the highest quality instruction in the area- the place to go if you are a beginner or an experienced dancer. You wont be disappointed!
When I decided to take dance lessons, I knew it had to be at Pacific Grove Dance when I entered the beautiful, fairy-tale worthy ballroom. I can almost guarantee it would make anyone want to dance. After that, it was the positive and genial atmosphere in the individual and group lessons. Olga and Leo are extremely talented instructors dedicated to making the process of learning enjoyable and rewarding, no matter what level of the student or what their individual goals may be. I have benefited not only from their artistic and technical expertise, but their patient guidance and dedication. I cant imagine taking lessons anywhere else.
Had a great experience here at this dance studio! Weve been wanting to take ballroom dance lessons somewhere locally in Monterey. A friend of ours recommended this place. We booked a trial lesson about two weeks ago. The instructor was very patient and had fun teaching us. Weve learned some basics of salsa and tango. I was very surprised i could actually dance. I thought i had two left feet. But after the initial lesson i changed my mind. Very friendly environment including other students who are very supportive. Overall 5+. I am glad to learn at this Monterey dance studio.
Incredibly talented and patient teachers! Great group of students who are very gracious and fun. Perfect place to learn new moves and have a great time. You can make a lot of progress in your dancing after a private lesson and the group classes are really well organized. Check it out!
The BEST dancing school ever! Leo and Olga are highly skillful, fun, and engaging. I enjoyed learning from them. They make dancing fun, entertaining, and personal. I learned how to dance, stand, and present myself. Both of them are patient and always willing to help and accommodate. I also loved their jokes and funny comments, they enrich the session with their own unique style. They make me smile after a long day. I am grateful for the opportunity.
Pacific Grove Dance Studio is the best! thank you Olga for making our dance experience fun and energetic my Birthday Party was great because of the Father and Daughter routine, Friends & Family were surprised and impressed of how well we could dance it was magical . Thank you Olga we look forward taking more dancing classes >
This dance studio is truly special. All of the instructors are not only highly qualified, technically trained professional dancers, but theyre also great people that make you feel relaxed and welcome. Ive been to many dance studios over the years where they never felt inviting, so Im thrilled to have finally found a place where I can really learn and grow. Whether youre just looking for social dancing or want to compete regularly, this studio is perfect for you.
Pacific Grove Dance is the real thing! Ive pursued ballroom dance lessons in several major world cities (Los Angeles and London) where ballroom dance has a major presence...and still have never found anything as special as Pacific Grove Dance. Leo and Olga are world-class dance artists and teachers. Whether you are a true beginner who has never had a lesson, or a seasoned dancer, Leo and Olga are experts at bringing out the best in each of their students. Youll see this immediately! Their consistency, generosity of spirit, and professionalism are unparalleled. In fact, everyone at Pacific Grove Dance contributes to the grace-filled and supportive atmosphere. Its a safe place to ignite a creative spark and re-discover the joy of learning. Dont be nervous to try a free Friday night dance lesson, or introductory private. You will have FUN! Youll be changed for the better and forever glad you went!
The instructors are first class and still really fun. I moved from San Francisco and can’t believe I found such an amazing studio right in my town!!
PGD is terrific. Leo and Olga combine extraordinary talent with practical teaching ability, and - in my case - a good measure of patience and sense of humor. Their studio is also among the best Ive seen. I had no idea how much I would enjoy this, and I think it is because of Olga and Leo.
We are extremely fortunate to have dance instructors like Leo and Olga in our own town. Instructors of this caliber are usually found in New York or San Francisco. Instead, in our own Monterey overlooking the bay view we can take great ballroom classes at a gorgeous Victorian-style studio.I really appreciate Leo and Olgas attention to every single student, whether they are new or experienced dancers.I also love their dance parties on Fridays. Getting to dance with the very best and be around really nice people in a friendly social setting is my favorite thing to do after a long day of work.
The owners are warm and welcoming but at the same time very professional and serious about teaching dance! A perfect balance of fun, getting new people out on the dance floor with kind assistance, and attention to technique and style!!! If you take private lessons and wish to perform, they go all out in choreographing spectacular teacher-student show dances that feel like you are watching Dancing with the Stars.
The place to go for quality lessons...the instructors are highly talented, experienced and professional...the atmosphere is friendly...the instructions are tailored to the individuals. I thoroughly enjoy my lessons at the studio.
I know about this school as one of my friends have taken dance classes from them and he now performs in big concerts and shows. He has won many prizes in dance competitions. He is really a very good dancer.
Very professional place with a casual feel and high level of education!!!! All dance levels and age groups are quickly mastering their skills with the help of world class instructors. Great place and great people and always many positive emotions :))))))
I have been a student at Pacific Grove Dance for the past eighteen months. It has changed my life. I wanted to learn Salsa, but now Im also learning Cha Cha, Swing, Hustle, Nightclub Two Step, Tango, as well as the smooth dances, Fox Trot and Waltz. Leo and Olga, the husband-wife team who are the owners/teachers, are simply incredible. They are both very high-energy, extremely talented, while being very warm, supportive and lighthearted. They both work hard teaching their students, both in group lessons and individual private lessons. It is beautiful to see their endless patience, encouragement and coaching bring out the best in each of their students. They pay attention to the smallest detail, and notice everything. They truly want us to succeed and grow. It doesnt matter at what level you begin, whether youve no prior experience, or just want to improve your skills, they will start where you are. The students Ive interacted with are all wildly enthusiastic about Leo and Olga. On Friday nights, there is a group lesson, followed by a dance party which is well attended and offers the students, at whatever level they happen to be, an opportunity to participate. The studio is beautiful, well appointed and meticulously maintained; a real pleasure to be there. Try it; you will love it; its addictive!
Ive been a student at PG Dance for a few months now and I couldnt be happier the dedication Leo and Olga have in making me a better dancer. Before deciding to become a student I hadnt danced a day in my life so of course I was a little nervous, especially since I didnt even have a partner, but after the 1st free lesson I realized none of that mattered. Every lesson I laugh, have fun, learn more than I thought possible, and burn a few calories. Now I have more confidence to ask someone to dance at social events. If youre thinking about dancing, you have nothing to lose by coming here just to see how you like it! You wont regret it!
5 stars rating for Olga and Leo of Pacific Grove Dance!!! I was a student of Olga for about five months and in that time competed with her in two competitions and performed together a showcase routine that she choreographed and taught me. To say it was great fun too would be an understatement. She is so incredibly gifted both as a dancer and teacher and reminded me very much of the pro dancers on DWTS. Leo would also give me pointers from a man s perspective during privates with Olga, as well as teach the group classes that I attended. I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to take instruction from them both and highly recommend them to you!
Great place to learn ballroom dancing! Professional Monterey dance staff and friendly atmosphere. If you ever wanted to learn dancing this is where you should begin. Highly recommended!
Many years ago, when I watched an international ballroom dancing competition on PBS I was captivated by it. Their posture - their frame. The way the couples glided across the floor together. Now “that was real dancing” I thought - not what most baby boomers like myself knew. I never forgot those images and as my daughter’s wedding approached we took lessons at PG Dance so we could do a father - daughter dance. Real ballroom dancing was new to both of us but with the help, patience, and ice breaking good humor of the great instructors/proprietors, Olga and Leo at PG Dance, we pulled together a really nice dance in a matter of weeks from nothing - no prior experience.I enjoyed it so much that I decided to continue lessons every week after the wedding to finally realize this longstanding desire to learn real dancing. It has been a year and a half now and as with all endeavors, progress is not linear and can be streaky but I just cannot say enough about my progress and overall experience there. I am still very much motivated and enjoying dancing there. All of the instructors - Olga, Leo, Natasha, and Sergei are real professionals and great teachers (and wonderful to watch by the way). They are not only helpful, encouraging, and persistent but also really fun and if they can teach me to dance I know they can teach anyone! I started out somewhat shy and hesitant but those days are long gone thanks to them and the atmosphere they cultivate. The other students, regardless of their level of experience are also helpful and encouraging which again is also part of what these fine very hard working professionals have cultivated at PG Dance. I have made many new friends and Olga, Leo, and staff almost feel like family. If you’ve even had a passing thought about wanting to learn to dance, if you like music, I would give this a try. You won’t regret it. None of us is getting any younger so it’s time to get out and do some of those things that have been in the back of our minds. For me dancing has evolved from something I always admired and enjoyed watching to something I am actually doing. It’s a blast!I am grateful to Olga, Leo, and their creation, PG Dance for making this happen and for the joy and fun and friendships that have come from this.
Pacific Grove Dance is the place to dance in the entire Monterey Peninsula area. Olga and Leo are very experienced and talented in the sport and their method of teaching is fun and simple which makes it easy to follow. The studio is specious and the atmosphere is very relax and comfortable. If you are a biginner or an experienced dancer looking to polish your steps give Pacific Grove Dance a try.
Pacific Grove Dance done a excellent job. I am very much satisfied with the dance training i learned there. Instructors were professional and lots of energy to perform well.
This place was one of the first dance studios I ever attended, immediately I fell inlove with the atmosphere.... The new dance instructors Leo & Olga (whom Ive known from a few years back) are excellent!!! Theyre lovely, talented & great to just look at.... They simplify their dance steps in such manor that theirs students are not overwhelmed & keep coming back... :) I ♥ PGD
This studio is one of the great place for beginner as well as experienced dancers. Leo Sidorenko and Olga Agafonova are wonderful dancers i must say. Lots of energy and love there ballroom dance steps.I would recommend everyone to visit there studio once if you really want to learn dance.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again—forget “Dancing With the Stars.” We have our own stars in Pacific Grove. The owners of PGD (Leo and Olga) are so talented and willing to share their talent with students it would be a shame not to take advantage of the opportunity of benefiting from their teaching skills. PGD is a great studio for learning to ballroom dance and if you already know how to dance, it’s a great place to spend time dancing and socializing.
We met and fell in love on a dance floor and used to love to foxtrot, waltz and swing dance together in our own self-styled way. That was before Parkinson’s Disease (for both of us) and advancing Cystic Fibrosis (Irene) made dancing impossible. One of the best decisions of our lives was our decision to begin private ballroom dance lessons with Leo and Olga eleven months ago. Since then, not only have we regained the joy of dancing with each other, we also now enjoy social dancing with others, have performed in 2 dance showcases and Irene has competed successfully in NDCA competitions. Our physicians say that the health improvement we have achieved through dance is amazing. Dance has become a passion with us and we absolutely love the time we spend with Leo and Olga, who are outstanding teachers as well as absolutely fun people to spend time with. We encourage you to join us in supporting them in their new dance studio, Pacific Grove Dance. Irene Watson and Rick Hilgers
Ive been dancing for well over 25 years. My job in the military moves me around every 3 years or so, and I have to start over with a new teacher each time. It will be very difficult to find a replacement for Olga and Leo. My training and level of experience has never been as high as it is now. I took Overall Top Solo at my last competition, and that is due to the efforts of both Olga and Leo. Both are well educated and trained in the art of dance. Their incredible personalities are contagious, and their teaching style is easy to understand whatever your level of experience may be. All of that combined with the great facility that is Pacific Grove Dance, is nothing more than a recipe for success. I am now a bit spoiled, and finding a studio that is at the same caliber or better than PGD will not be easy.
We are so fortunate to have Pacific Grove Dance here on the Monterey Peninsula with Leo and Olga as the owners, instructors, and International Chapionship Dancers. I have been a student with Leo and Olga for about 3 years and have found them to be amazing, gifted, fun loving, and very skilled teachers that can take you from the very beginning steps of social dancing to the highest level of competitive dancing. They have taken me to a level of dancing that I could not have even imagined from 0 dancing skills to three years of competitive dance ( and at the age of 67). You can only imagine what they can do for the young students and the dreams that they can help come true. They have programs that can fit most anyones agenda. Just visit their beautiful studio and say Hi to Olga and Leo and they will capture your heart like they did mine. Roberta
I have been dancing for more than forty-five years. I became interested while in college and have since dedicated a large part of my adult life to it. I was privileged to spend ten years in New York City and while there had the opportunity to observe the best dancers in the world dancing at their best. Dancers like Mikhail Baryshnikov, Rudolf Nureyev, Anthony Dowell, Antoinette Sibley, Peter Martins, Suzanne Farrell, Gelsey Kirkland, Carla Fracci, Natalia Markarova, Natalia Bessmertnova, Vladimir Vasiliev, Eric Bruhn and Margot Fonteyn. I can say that Leo and Olga are themselves dancers of impeccable craft, training and experience. As teachers, they have an uncanny ability to bring out the best in their students. Everyone who studies with them does improve, no exceptions. All who is willing to work and apply themselves become better dancers. No one, and I mean no one, gets left behind.
