I would avoid, they were not open likely due to Covid but nothing is done to communicate this via website or store
Eating here is like getting ice cream from your grandmother ... if your grandmother is a hoarder.Lots of plastic covered memorabilia on the walls, covered with dust.Sneeze guards over the register and ice cream cooler, cracked, taped over, and covered with dust. And the lid of the freezer was pretty grimy. All in all, it just seemed like it would be to much trouble to move all the junk to vice it a good cleaning. The ice cream was ok, once he scraped the ice crystals off the top. However, I was surprised how soft the pecan praline was coming out of the ice cream freezer. Not a place Id recommend.
This place was not entirely what I expected. Sure, they had fantastic ice cream, but they also had a ton of old school rock memorabilia and vinyls for sale. Pretty cool!
5 stars for the interior - such a cool vibe in this space! A little cluttered, but was interesting immediately upon walking in.0 stars for the ice cream - I took one look at the ice cream case and walked right out 😅 definitely did not look sanitary.I recommend going in and taking a look! Under no circumstances would I suggest getting ice cream lol
Unique little ice cream shoppe. The owner was extremely nice. The banana split was delicious!
What a strange old man, mumbling to himself and upset that kids want to play on the toys he has out on the floor and telling people to get their kids out of here. Place is shambolic. Its hard to order or even see what flavors are on offer, and ice cream is not theirs but made in bulk. To top it off, coffee is advertised but he has no decaf. Maybe this place is more of an indulgence for someone with Peter Pan Syndrome--what kind of 80 year old is protective of his toys?--than a serious business. But who knows how someone like that made the money in the first place for a vanity business?
I seriously dont know where to begin.#1. The place was absolutely filthy, period, top to bottom. If you want to be a Beatles memorabilia store please do that instead.#2. The ice cream cooler was also filthy inside and out. Hand and finger prints very visible on the inside. If the visible areas are that bad I can only imagine how much mold and bacteria is in the filter system, condensation drains ect of said cooler.#3. Customer service is a joke and this is the owner im talking about not some 16 year old kid which i would expect the behavior from. Cussing at customers, preaching beliefs ext ect#4. Bro, all good if you smoke weed but time and place.Point being, if I was wearing my CalOSHA hat I wouldve had a field day. Silver lining, we now know.
Funky, retro ice cream shop. Good place.
Ugh. The place was dirty and the employees were too captivated in their conversation to be bothered by customers. So sad, I loved the previous owner and his shop.
If I could put 0 stars I would.. Absolutely the dirtiest, most disgusting ice cream shop ever. The freezer where the flavors are displayed is taped up with duct tape which has mold growing on and around it. The ice cream containers were all just thrown in the freezer with dirty lids on them. Counters look like theyve never been wiped down and dont even get me started on the floors! How has the health department not shut them down is beyond me. So gross and nasty and well NEVER return..
This isnt the kind of place you go because the ice cream (and other offerings) are so great or the pricing is fantastic or the service is quick and efficient. The reason you go here is the nostalgia inside the place -- decor straight out of the 1960s -- tables, chairs, wall art, vinyl record albums, music being played inside the establishment. If youre a 1960s geek, this is your kinda place.
Very dirty. Nice guy but clutter everywhere and it was filthy. Wont be going back
Authentic staff and good music. This ice cream shop is like a portal back in time. Coffee, Ice Cream, and records are sold at this local business that is guaranteed to give you nostalgic feelings of childhood no matter what your generation.Warning this place is not for the heavily opinionated. Owner Gary Ozuna is a long time hippy who is very open on his political views. Ozuna has his soft side to though, Ive spotted him giving kids handfulls of quarters to ride on the antique horse and boat.
Cute little ice cream place with great blues music !!
Amazing little shop! Love the atmosphere and the people so kind and nice! My girlfriend and I were the 2nd and 3rd people ever to get the huckleberry ice cream and its a must! Also they made the cone fresh right there! Amazing experience just like we remembered!
Closed an hour before stated closing time. No signage giving any more info.
Great tasting ice cream! Would like to have more non dairy options though, would be the only suggestion.
Wheres the health department on this one? Its by far the most cluttered (fire hazard), dirty, dusty, nasty place Ive every encountered. The fact that he can server ice cream or anything to anyone is a miracle. Seriously - monterey county - what gives? This place has been a mess for years and years.
Loved the atmosphere & ice cream.
Totally trippy ... Step back in rock n roll paraphernalia 50s 60s 70s. Mostly Beatles an ice cream with occasional slip of of Zappa or random just the same.
7:23pm on a Monday and the internet and their voice-mail said they were open till 9m every night.
This little shop is awesome ! The ice cream is delicious and the Beatles memorabilia is extensive. A nostalgic treat.
Didnt even go and try their ice cream. My mom called to see if they had a certain ice cream and he quickly and rudely said no so she asked of he knows any.....(no.) She didnt even get to finish asking and he rudely said no fast. So maybe its good but i guess well never know now. Dont be rude.
Ice cream wasn’t bad, wasn’t amazing. Cool vibe. This place is Beatles fan dream! Tons of memorabilia
Ice cream is ice cream. If youre a stickler for hand crafted, artisan, small batch ice cream then this place may or may not meet your requirements. If however, you have an appreciation for a totally authentic and memorable space to spend some time (while eating ice cream), then this is your place. It is evident from the moment you enter, that this is not some corporate box, designed to optimize some sales metric. This is a place that has evolved over time according to the owners whimsy, its a complete outgrowth of the owners personality which makes it a very special place. Ill leave it to the reader to check it out and discover the wonders for themselves. The Shoppe is a staple everytime were in the area.
Its was full of Beatles remember billia ice cream was mediocre the shop was worth looking at
Went with my family. The man that ran the place was very rude. The place looks very un kept and the kitchen area is very dirty. They did have a ton of Beatles memorabilia but again it was all dusty and un organized. Would not go back.
Kinda cool vintage ice cream parlor... my visit was during the pandemic....so the ice cream tasted a little old ...but the vintage Beatles stuff was worth it
Pretty good!
Black cherry ice cream was the BEST!!! Will be back for the vibes ✨
Love the lemin meringue ice cream! Kitschy tons of Beatles memorabilia. Great yummy ice cream and central in Pacific Grove.
Its CASH ONLY at least it was when I last visited & it is a little pricey. If you appreciate history, collector items, music & thrift shops this is a neat place to see. If you expect it to be like Cold Stone or Baskin Robins don’t go. The Beatles collection in there is really nice. The chocolate ice cream is good. The older man is nice too. Would come back!! Nice little place. Also to the negative reviews... he is trying to earn money for a living, he is an elderly man and there is a lot of stuff for the small place but it’s neat stuff. If you don’t like it don’t visit again.
This Shoppe is definitely one of a kind. The owner has an incredible amount of memorabilia...a must see if you are in the area. The ice cream is first class and he has a other items as well. When I am in Pacific Grove I visit no question about that. Yummy!
Such a fun trip into the past and superb homemade ice cream. Do it. It is so so worth it.
Not a whole lot of dietary substitutions. Other than that, very nice ice cream.
The experience is worth it. Its like a time travel mixed with a sweet treat
Really good ice cream & collection of LPs. A lot of Beatles memorabilia. Kind of sucks they only accept cash or check, but I understand why. PG local shops dont seem like the type to take card, not that thats a bad thing. It can be a little inconvenient having to walk across the intersection to get cash though.
Fun place to pass the time after dinner, looking at all the Fab 4 stuff. I liked my hot chocolate and my family enjoyed a dessert crepe.
Amazing Victorian house with a balloon arch up a flight of stairs where you go for sit-down ice cream. Fancy and fun! They even had a little ice cream stand toy for the visitors. We left without getting anything as we were stuffed from eating at Passionfish so they gave me cookies to go, OMG they were amazing.
Colorful. Many flavor choices of ice cream. Crepes, waffles and soup also available. My husband and I had ice cream. I had a cup of maple nut. The maple rivaled syrup with the chunks of nut added texture. My husband had a double scoop of wild berry in a waffle cone. It made him feel like a kid again. So good.
Super funky, acid-trip decor that music lovers like myself will appreciate. We enjoyed the ice cream... until I saw the owner sample several flavors with the same ice cream scooper - placing the scooper into the barrels, then into his mouth, and then back in the barrels. I was a bit horrified. Buyer beware.
Great selection of quality icecream along with wide LP recorded collection to shop while they get your icecream order ready. Most any of the 60s-80s artist seem to be included. Fun little shop to peruse and take a trip down memory lane.
Supper fun, funky, and colorful ambiance and music. It felt like a trip to the 60s - 70s. The proprietor is an ice cream shop version of Seinfelds Soup Nazi, somehow adding to the uniquecharacter and charm of this establishment.
Ice cream was mediocre at best, the music was way too loud, the guy behind the counter looked like he was on drugs and showed very little interest in customers; the place was very unkempt, in disarray behind the counter, and dirty overall. If youre in to 60 music though, it would be an interesting shop to browse, but I will never be going back nor recommend it, ever. I regretted ever going in and was so concerned about the cleanliness overall I threw away my ice cream.
Great coffee! A treasure trove of Beatles Memorabilia. Wish they had more of my favorite flavors of ice cream. I prefer coconut to bubble gum.
Cool, funky place. Great ice cream, nice flavors with sone twists and old favorites. Awesome decor, tons of record covers and interesting artwork.
Great ice cream, I got the pistachio and its the best pistachio Ive had. It has real chunks of pistachio in it. This place has a lot of character, its covered floor to ceiling with The Beetles and other old records. They do not take card but theres an ATM across the street.
If you are a Beatle fan, or a fan of classic rock in general, you’re going to want to check this out. It could take you hours to look at each display!
I like the atmosphere all the music memorabilia mostly Beatles the ice cream is not very good
Nice place, Expensive, and Poor Service . . . but that why we go there . . . The Ice Cream Shoppe is like a good Scotch: Its a acquired taste . . . . If you want a factory produced just-like-the-rest ice cream, this is certainly not for you. The owner-operator makes his own ice treats, and has lovingly decorated the the walls with copious copies of 50-70 pop-culture. Enjoy your ice cream and study the walls . . . its a fun cultural experience.
Really cool ice cream joint with a unique aesthetic (completely Beatles (the band) related). Great selection too. Its worth checking out at least once if you are in the neighborhood.
Last hippie Ice Cream shop. Great flavors and great atmosphere!
Great variety of ice cream. Awesome atmosphere. The proprietor even opened the doors for us as he was closing up shop for the night due to lack of business in the slow season. Thank you
Any Beatles fan must come here. You wont believe what you see. Oh, and the ice cream Id good.
Loved this place. Ice cream very good, but the uniqueness of the shop was all the old memorabilia, records, books, etc.
Ok ice cream shop hasnt been cleaned since the Beatles were cool bit fun place.
Was not greeted, he refused to get a flavor because it was in the back, remanded us they were closing soon, it was 830pm. The place was dirty and the guy was rude. Would not return or reccomend.
Loved the atmosphere and the service was accommodating, but... the cheese blintz (more specifically, the cheese filling) was HORRIBLE. It tasted like it was well past its expiration date. A shame.
Awesome ambiance and great ice cream! If you are a Beatles Fan you are in luck! Dont miss this gem of an ice cream shoppe!
Fun place, can feel a bit claustrophobia but a must stop place to complete your Pacific Grove experience. Ice cream was delicious and always love supporting a local business.
Great vibe. Im not a Beatles fan, but I know a little now. I liked the ice cream, and the coffee
Not what I would expect when coming to an ice cream shop. Only gig in town that I know of, so Im wondering if thats what keeps people coming. Guy is very particular about how much is considered a scoop. The constant reminders all over the shop that he doesnt take credit card and not to touch anything makes you feel unwelcome. I get the feeling that he only wants you there to purchase ice cream and not enjoy it there. Its his shrine to the Beatles and oh by the way you can buy ice cream. Very pricing considering the portions. Zero people skills observed from the attending dipper.
The most wonderful ice creams ever! the Dude is very funny and great to have an intelligent conversation with....love the Pin Ball machine and the decor is fab. and it is actually spotless clean now! people get a grip.
This place was very creepy. The person working there was old and looked like he never took a shower. I had vanilla, but the ice cream tasted expired and had random chunks in it. It was also served to me with a fly in it.
From the outside, it looked like a regular, small business ice cream shop; on the inside I was shocked by the decor and change in time! There was so much Beetles memoribelia from ceiling to floor. It was quite the experience!! Music was playing and people were lined up. There was many different ice cream flavors to chose from; I ordered a milkshake and it was welllll worth the 8$ can’t wait to go again!!
Heaven. The ice cream is fine; youre really visiting the shop for the Beatles memorabilia that covers every square inch of its walks!
We loved this place and cant wait to go back, although the ice cream was freezer burnt
This place is GREAT. It is the neatest nook I have ever been to. Even if you arent a fan of ice cream, take someone who does and check this place out. The walls are COVERED in awesome antique music albums and posters and old books . Totally a Beatles vibe. and organic ice cream. in a gazillion wierd but very tasty flavors. My favorite is the pumpkin pie ice cream but thats because its got a weird pumpkiny-zing to it and its not heavy but a bit on the sweet light side. Seriously, so worth the effort.
The pineapple coconut took me at to the main island!
Its very unique
Great little shop, atmosphere is fun, full of rock and roll memorabilia. Kind, fun employees, good music. Had a great time.
Thank you for the rocky road ice cream and the cookie dough ice cream ! Good and fun memories thanks to your high quality and tasty ice cream and memorabilia ...
Love this place! Music is loud and the decor is funky but the ice cream is great! Highly recommend the mint cookie or cookie monster.
Went there with my GF. The place was dirty the owner seemed tweaked out of his mind. Did not greet us or really even acknowledge that we desisted. Tried getting his attention several times but he was in his own drugged out world. By the time we ordered the ice cream we felt like we might get murdered in this place. We left in a hurry with our expensive single scoop ice cream. When I started eating it was freezer burned and gross. We tossed out the ice cream. I never leave yelp reviews.... ever.
Incredible ice cream, with an amazing display of music theme items. Wonderful service from very delightful young lady on the night we visited. And we were from New York on business. thanks for the experience!!
Went to get ice cream from this place....sign with hours said open... place was locked up tight at 730.pm... would give 0 stars if possible just for poor advertising... no sign saying why they were closed. . nothing.... maybe the locals are aware/used to it, but vacationers who might want something other than 31 flavors are out of luck
Good ice cream and quite interesting inside, go check it out!
Rude owner, filthy. We used to go there all the time, but at some point many years ago they must have changed owners or managers because its no longer the safe place to take kids. We stop and look now and then just to see if anything has changed, but it hasnt.
Fun and quirky decor and atmosphere, slightly freezer burnt ice cream.
The girl working the night we stopped by was cooky and fun. Go somewhere else if you want boring. This is why you come to beach towns. Great locals and great local businesses.
Pepper and Jeremy are absolutely what made our visit to The Ice Cream Shoppe wonderful and memorable!!! Well be back next year for our annual visit to Seven Gables and The Feast of Lanterns and to have the best ice cream ever!!!!!
Hoarder hole. Filthy kitchen, filthy bathroom, and you have to climb over garbage to get through the store. Hard to tell whats trash or restaurant. Not to mention its cash only for overpriced mediocre ice cream.
The owner, Gary, added crepes to menu. Delicious ! The ice cream, large collection of old records, and sound system are great, as before.
The vibe here is fantastic, the staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was groovy. I honestly cannot wait to come back
Great ice cream, fantastic service, decor came out of a sixties acid trip (in a good way)!
Ambience is very bad. The place stinks!
Stood there for quite some time, was never greeted or even acknowledged. Wasnt crowded and MUST have cash or check only. No credit cards accepted. Have no idea what anything was like due to the fact we walked out after 10mins. Disappointing. Dont know if well try going there again when we come to visit.
So many flavors, waffle cones fresh off the iron and delicious!! Also do pour over coffee.
No credit cards, and owner is preachy about his disdain for credit cards. Good Ive cream though, and finally eclectic hippy vibe.
Fantastic ice cream in a really cool place! Loved the decor - Beatlemania.
Girl behind the counter was extremely rude when we werent ready to order yet. We walked out.
