If I could give negative stars I would. I came in to send 3 packages 1 of which was a duplicate that my husband had just shipped the week prior. He paid $6 to ship this package which was 3 sheets of paper, I was charged $15 for the same package. When I asked the guy why he said that the price of shipping changes, I needed this to go out immediately so I went ahead. I gave him my other 2 packages and told him I wanted them shipped the cheapest way with tracking. One was makeup and the other was a mens wedding band. All which came to a total of $30 and some change. I go out to my car to make some calls to give the tracking number to the recipients. Then I see the package with the wedding band doesnt have a tracking number. I go in and tell the guy. He tells me its going to be another $8. By this time I was so upset I just took the package and left. I went to the post office, I shipped that same package with tracking for $2. The guy at the post office told me that it had the wrong postage on it. And the return address was my name with the cartridge shoppes address. Which leaves me to think all of my packages were done this way. Obviously they have no idea what they are doing here and are just trying to get over on someone. I mail several packages a week I will never take my business here ever again and I will tell everyone I know that ships about my experience here!!!!
Ive shipped with The Cartridge Shoppe before and never noticed anything odd. This time was different, however. I went in today to ship a laptop I had just sold on eBay. I generally do all my shipping via USPS pickups at my house using PayPal ShipNow and a postal scale, and I only really go to The Cartridge Shoppe if Im shipping something more expensive that I need better packaging for or if I dont have any packaging available at my disposal.I had done calculations on my own using the shipping tools of the big three before going in and found it was going to cost about $30 to ship my package not including any packaging costs. Instead, I get there, and I was quoted $67 for USPS Priority and $47 for FedEx Ground. This was excluding insurance, which I wouldve liked to get, but skipped out on because of the price. I went ahead and paid for the package, because I thought maybe I miscalculated, but I get home, and after the total package weight of around 13lbs including packaging and the box size they shipped it in was taken into consideration, I was being overcharged by close to $20. $47 for a 13 pound package via FedEx with no insurance when I calculated it on the FedEx website at $38 INCLUDING insurance. A similar situation with USPS Priority Mail as well, quoted $67, calculated by USPS at $41.05.On my receipt was a curious line, saying Chargeable Weight: 19lbs. I called about this, and was assured by Pam that it wasnt an issue. Just to be safe, I calculated out a package weight of 19lbs and the correct dimensions using the FedEx online rate calculator, and got $35.92 ($38.92 with $300 declared value insurance). Im not sure how they got to $47 to ship a 13lb package FedEx Ground without Insurance, but its definitely not correct. For full disclosure, I was charged close to $10 for packing materials, which I was quite okay with and fully expecting. The issue with me is the massive markup for the actual shipping cost.Although this is the first time this has happened to me here, its a big enough issue to make me not want to come back again. I will ship things myself from here-on-out.P.S: I actually posted this same review on the company facebook page yesterday, and today the person that runs the page (likely the owner) completely disabled the ability to leave reviews for all customers, as confirmed by me and several of my family members and friends. I would highly suggest staying away.
Quick service, very helpful finding the size box I need.
I was rented the wrong equipment for my move. It cost me more than $1700 in damages. Pam admitted she had no idea that she had rented me the wrong equipment yet neither she nor U-Haul took any responsibility. Its negligent. We broke down at 2am on the Bluegrass Pkwy about 60 minutes from Frankfort. Her ignorance made a difficult move painful and scary.
Always very friendly and helpful!
