These are the best donuts in the area. We were given a coupon for a free dozen when we moved are we cant wait to go back. The ones with toasted coconut and chocolate taste like a girl scout cookie!

I’ve been a resident of Palatine for about 3 years now and frequent Spunky Dunkers for my donut fix. I’ve come at many different times (7am, 3pm, 1am etc.) and the donuts are fresh each time I stop in. This is the perfect spot to go if you’re trying to impress co-workers with a morning treat. They also make giant donuts for special occasions and birthdays. This place is delicious but don’t take my word for it, stop in and see for yourself.

Fantastic trip to Spunky Dunkers! It was so fun trying their red velvet and apple fritter and Bismarck Donuts! Theyre huge and taste amazing and at a really great price. Not to mention it was really fantastic to see them busy. Cant wait to go back soon!

Thought the donuts were pretty good. Toasted coconuts were my favorite. The chocolate cream puffs werent that bad either. Paid $26 for 2 dozen. My advice would be to show up early so the donuts wont be sold out and to skip the line since it does get busy pretty fast.

This was my first visit to Spunky Dunkers Donuts. I was driving through the area and thought I would give them a try. Clearly it is sort of an old school type of donut shop. I always go out of my way to shop at to independently-owned businesses. Even taking that into account I didnt feel that the donuts were very good. I got three different types of donuts, double chocolate, chocolate frosted cake, and plain cake.

I come from a place where we have a world-class donut-maker in our hometown in Maine and was skeptical of trying out another donut shop as I really love ours, but, my daughter told me they were good...I had two donuts and have to admit that they rivaled my favorite place back home. We were lucky enough to see the guy working the dough back in the kitchen while we were there. Its a great little shop that warrants a stop in your travels.

First time at this establishment and I was not impressed. Have no clue where the line starts .. then they ask who’s next and I start giving the kid my order and he ignores me and moves on to another person. I then asked him, if they have Iced coffee and do they have any flavors and he shrugs. How do you not know? Someone else had to tell him. I ordered the coffee and then of course he forgot the flavor. Now on to the donuts .. meh.. nothing special other than they were fresh. Not sure why this place has so many good reviews. And like the other person wrote about the gloves. Why even bother wearing any, if you’re going to use the same one for everything and for every customer? . Very disappointed .. won’t be back

Came here with a friend to get som donuts. We got the Red Velvet, Sour Cream, and Chocolate Cream Puff. We loved sour cream and red velvet, but thought the cream in the cream puff was too sweet. There’s really something for everyone here and the prices are pretty good. The wait was quick and staff was nice.

The standards were pretty high considering I live right by some of the best donuts you can get. The donuts I had with my family, the cinnamon cream and chocolate buttercream ones were on the same level as those other donuts I mentioned. They were very very good and if you want some amazing donuts in this area, go there!

We went a few weeks ago and tried their donuts! They’re absolutely delicious, and pair wonderfully with a hot cup of coffee or by themselves! The atmosphere of the store was very cheerful (and perhaps a bit spunky) and I’ll definitely be going back.I wanted to additionally give Kudos to the young man who helped us! He was the skinny lad wearing a beanie who was super patient, cheerful, and wonderful to talk to!

I wish Spunky was closer to where I live. Id be a regular. But I stop whenever Im in the area. Donuts the way they are supposed to be. Beats the chains hands down.

Very good donuts here. They always have fresh supply and never really run out as they are 24 hour operation. Cake donuts are super moist and chocolate glaze on various donuts tastes like ganache’ (French dark chocolate glaze). Raised donuts are very good but were a little chewy (probably overworked the dough a bit that day on the bench/table). Generous amounts of filling in all the filled donuts and custard was very creamy. They may have had cream filled but I didn’t see them. I want to try their apple fritter next time too as it was huge! French cruller donut could be a little larger. No grease in the box. Price is very reasonable and quality is very good. Of all the donut places in the surrounding area Spunky is the best overall shop for product quality, price and availability! Plus they are open 24 hours so you can go anytime.

I was from out of town. I got scorned for requesting 12 dozen donuts. Was told that I needed to call first. How would I have known ? Wasnt given any other option like hey we can do 6 dozen, is that ok ?. I got laughed at while walking out the door. My money ended up being spent at Dunkin. Was trying to support a locally owned shop. I know your jobs are not easy. Please dont treat people like this.

On the weekends they offer speciality donuts, like this m&m one or even my kids fav, a “unicorn poopie” donut with rainbow everything. :) Spunky Dunkers has great, friendly staff that quickly keep the line going. The donuts have amazing icing are always so fresh and soft! Their donuts have become a weekend tradition for my family!

All employees wore the same pair of gloves to grab donuts AND take cash and credit cards from the customers they were waiting on. When it was my turn, it was no different. The employee that waited on me had just taken cash from the previous customer and then proceeded to touch my donuts and put them in the box. When it was time for me to pay, I gave the employee my credit card. Not only did he drop my card on the floor, he picked it up with his gloved hand and got chocolate on my card. My card card be wiped off...not the issue. After touching my card that was on the floor, he went on to the next customer with the SAME dirty glove. Pandemic or no pandemic, using the same glove to grab donuts and touch cash and credit cards is disgusting.I would love to be a customer again, but until the employees stop wearing contaminated gloves, I will not be returning. The extra seconds per customer will be well worth the wait to know Im getting food that wasnt touched with dirty gloves. Unfortunately, my donuts went right in the garbage.

Was excited to get some donuts from my old stomping ground and have to say, Im kinda sad. Ive been spoiled by another mom and pop donut place in Crystal Lake. Eat em fresh and youll be fine though. They are good, just not as good I remember. Service wasnt the most pleasant either. But, to his credit, the guy working at the counter was alone and he was rather busy. He was speedy, but not very welcoming.

Went here in Saturday morning and it was so busy!! The service was super quick though and very friendly. On top of their regular donuts, which are amazing, they now have more special donuts. And you really cant beat their prices especially for the quality of the donuts.

The BEST cake donuts around. I always thought I preferred yeast donuts but wow Spunky Dunkers has changed me. Heat up the red velvet or the honeydew donut in the microwave for 15 seconds and its absolute heaven. Their filled strawberry donut is another favorite. A Palatine gem of a shop perfect when youre craving something sweet. Super fast service too!

Great donuts but they treat their staff awfully and don’t pay enough. Employees are made to train a revolving door of new staff that are hired on for the same rate the training staff work for and as business increases the owners only allow themselves to profit. 50 doz donut orders for churches at a subsidized rate and they question why there is limited workplace loyalty. They take advantage of people needing money in one of the most expensive suburbs in the country.

Never been to this Donut shop until a few days ago, I was very surprised as to how delicious the donuts were. Both days I came it was well after midnight and everything was fresh. The coffee isnt anything to brag about but isnt bad either. I feel this place is a bit over priced even though its delicious. I was also disappointed not to find a coffee/donut combo. All in all this place is a must one time and then a few more times after that visit for donut lovers like myself.

Been going for years, my boss would buy them for meetings for us, so when I was promoted I carried on the tradition. I’ve moved a bit away but always stop when i’m in the area.

When you first walk in to the shop the first thing you notice is the wonderful smell of the donuts that have been baked. Donuts were a nice size and delicious!

Absolutely delicious fresh doughnuts open 24-7? Yes please! The staff were super friendly, the pastries were fresh, and theyre priced fairly. I recommend the the delicious german chocolate, blueberry, as well as the cinnamon sugar with cream cheese filling. You cant really go wrong with any of their flavors though.

First time having donuts here and I have to say, these donuts are fantastic. I went in the later part of the evening and to my surprise the donuts tasted freshly made as they should be. Ill definitely have to make a late night visit to see if the same holds true.

I love spunky dunky. Its a great retro style local shop and employs young local kids that are friendly and nice. SD has large selection of cake and yeast donuts - from basic to decorative ones. PreCovid, you could sit inside either at 50s era counter or surrounding bench and take a coffee.I normally order the toasted coconut and kids like either classic chocolate frosted or they choose a decorative one like snowman, Halloween themed etc.Im not a fan of cake donuts in general since i find them too heavy so cant comment on those.
