I never heard of a company turning away a customer who arrives before closing time. The sign said OPEN, the doors were open, but for some strange reason, the guy said that they were closed and couldn’t sell me propane. Maybe you should change your closing hours to 6:45 instead of 7:00. Because I definitely got there at 6:50. Unbelievable!!!!!

Joe, the manager, was awesome to work with, the nicest guy. Very helpful with what we needed and gave us a great rate on our 6 day rental. Highly recommend him and this location - it was a pleasure to work with him and his team member.

Called last minute and spoke with Joe, he helped us in 5 minutes and got everything ready . Easiest interaction i have had anywhere.

Extremely frustrating run around trying to get a hitch installed - calling the site but always getting the call center and not getting a call back. I cancelled and took my business to master hitch in Palatine. Much appreciate the tip. It was such a sigh of relief getting a real human being in IL. Recommend Uhaul add staff and increase pay. The employees were notably frustrated.

Reserved a truck 1 1/2 weeks ago without an issue received and email and text message that my truck would be ready to picked up at 8am on 8-29-2020 with a dolly and moving blankets.The day before my move I get a call at 12:30pm (30 minutes before I close on my new house) that they dont have my truck available. I can pick up a new smaller truck (15ft) but that wont be ready until 3pm. Mind you this is all happening at 12:30pm Friday afternoon at the end of the month. No uhaul trucks were available in a 30 mile radius to be picked up until my new truck at 3pm. I was not happy. I have people coming to help in the morning and now i am without a truck. To make matters worse my landlord already rented my apartment so I have no chance of staying.Why was I able to schedule a truck to be rented when none were available? Why would they wait until Friday at 12:30pm to tell me my truck was not around? I was stuck no other company had a truck at the last minute, I called all the big players Budget, Penzke, Enterprise, I even tried movers. Luckily because of a friend recommended them I was able to find a truck at Route 12 rentals they had one fifteen foot truck left that I could have in the morning.I will never deal with uhaul again, I will tell everyone I know not to deal with uhaul and tell my story I also plan on writing to the BBB about how they notified me last minute just so I would be stuck with uhaul.

Rude service at this location. Needed a car towing trailer, and this was the nearest location. During rental pricess Employee, scottie sandoval, was rude to us when asked to return trailer at a different location. We requested a drive on trailer but instead gave us a dolly. When I asked about a drive on he rudely responded they didnt have any. There were 3 on the lot as I had seen them. Questioned him on those and also again gave me attitude and made up some b.s. saying theyre not ready. He clearly demontrated his negative attitude on having to work Sundays and made it well known also commenting, Sundays are supposed to be easy. Do not recommend this location and I will avoid at all costs.

Terrible customer service. They where extremely rude and made it seem like we where bothering them, when in realty this is YOUR JOB and we are giving your business money!! I will not be going back to this one. The UHAUL in Arlington Heights has WAY better customer service, and I recommend using them.

A month after my rental I noticed that two Bills from UHAL popped up on my credit card activity feed. I called customer service and complained about these charges as this UHAUL facility did not have my permission to charge my credit card a month after I paid for their service. The customer service representative explained that this is normal procedure as UHAUL will keep your CC information and charge you for tolls. Nobody told me that, and this is not what I signed in the original agreement. I hope the $2.90 was worth a negative review and loss of business, as I will be using another company this weekend to move items and other companies in the future.

Need to have 0 stars. Beware of Palatine Uhaul. We had reservation for 15 foot truck for 5/30/20 with movers hired. Arrive to location- NO TRUCK. No notification. Told to pick up truck in Lincolnshire at 4pm 20 miles further from our house and 20 miles further added to our move. Had to pay movers TWICE to reschedule to 4pm. Oh and not a 15 foot truck as we reserved but a 10 foot truck. Had to put extra in storage. Extremely frustrating day for our family.

Terrible service and the manager is unprofessional. Rented a truck from this location and mentioned that I will be doing a one way rental and made sure that the price they informed me on was a one way cost. I drop off the truck the next day at a different location and get a call that morning from the manager saying that I am going to get overcharged since I didn’t return the truck. A week later, uhaul charged me 350+ dollars in late fees and it took 2 weeks to go through multiple customer service reps to get my refund. Terrible experience and will never go back to this location.

Went to this Uhaul to rent a truck for a cross country trip. I was really impressed with the level of customer service from Dan (who i believe is either the owner or manager). Dan went out of his way to try and find the best deal and explained everything in detail. He was also really friendly and accommodating. This really made an impression as this is my first experience with Uhaul. Highly recommend.

ZERO STARS!!! The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. Avoid this place like a disease! Scheduled a trailer hitch install with 7 AM drop off. arrived at 7 AM expecting 3 hour install. Was informed they would not complete the job until end of business, 8 PM. 13 hours to install a trailer hitch that should take an hour. I think this store is under new ownership because previous owner was very accommodating. New owner doesnt care about his customers. Already made my appointment at Master Hitch in Palatine. U-Haul will no longer get any of my business!

This place sucks the customer service guy charge me twice then charged me extra for cleaning (because we left a chair) and gas talking bout we didn’t put the right gas in the truck and I have the paper saying other wise.... so he didn’t want to admit to his mistake so he told me to come when manager gets inManager never came 😡

Uhaul will find any and every way to charge you. If you forget to return it full of gas, it is a service charge. If you dont fold the moving blankets, it is a service charge. If you dont sweep the truck, it is a service charge. You get the point. You are better off finding another way to move.

Not impressed. Guy named Ross had an attitude. After paying $850 to rent a car hauler for 4 days, they didnt have a small trailer I wanted to rent for the next leg of my move and wouldnt honor the U-Haul website price. Bought a cargo rack from Harbor Freight for less than half the price and it did just as good a job. Coming from a U-Haul in Phoenix, where U-Haul is based, they really need to step up their game in other parts of the country.

I went here today to have a hitch installed . I did understand that it was going to be a 3 hour install, however they did not have a waiting area for someone to wait, or they would not drive me to the nearest coffee shop so I can wait for the job to be completed. I walked from the job and I will never use this Uhaul or any again in the future. Update, I wen to Master Hitch, Inc 5 miles away . They were not only cheaper, but they had it installed in 45 min. I ended up buying a bike rack and also told my friends to come here vs any where else. needless to say, U-haul made a mistake and they lost 6-7 new customers who all need bike racks and hitches. Hope this helps 3-4 people make a better decision to not use them.

Joe helped me and was excellent. I was moving from Chicago and this was the closest Uhaul to me with the truck I needed and he gave me a discount for having to go so far and saved me at least $40. This was my second time using a Uhaul and Joe explained everything crystal clear as far as the expectations on price and and the trucks return condition.

Visiting U-Haul is typically an experience that is had during a stressful period of moving. The staff at this U-Haul is helpful, whether you are purchasing packing supplies or renting a truck. Make sure to keep your receipt in case you need to return any supplies, otherwise you just get store credit.

I have never used uhaul. I have used Route 12 Rental on Rand Rd in Arlington Heights. They are very accommodating.

If i can give this place a half star I would.Horrible service. Manager named Dan yells at me and kicks me out because I came in asking for my refund for charging me an extra day. He judges me which is very inappropriate and unprofessional as if I’m lying to him. I rented the truck 03/07/2018 5:30pm returned it 03/07/2018 8:20pm. I get charged an additional day and manager assumes I’m lying to him yelling at me and kicking me out the store. I took a video of the day of the return just Incase and now it came in handy. If I can post the video I would. This is very unprofessional and uhal should not tolerate this kind of customer service. After stating I’m going to report this incident to Uhal Corporate he says he will look at his surveillance video. I’m a customer going straight to a manager to discuss this in a kindly matter and I receive this type of service. Listen to other reviews and do not come to this location. Horrible service and you might get scammed by the old grumpy ignorant manager named Dan.

Ive been going to this same U-Haul of Palatine for over 20 years always perfect good people all is good all is always being good. Im just a great person and so they treat me so great :)

Surprisingly easy, in and out in a couple minutes. Returning was a breeze.

So I walk in today, standing at the counter waiting a few mins to be served no comes out the shop so I walk there to alert the 2 guys working in back theres customers waiting to be served, they both said be right there, 3 mins later nothing, so I go back to alert them again saying hey guys seriously theres customers waiting and that it doesnt take 2 guys to unwrap plastic. The general manager gets upset, oh and I made his spine hurt. Dont come in here demanding anything, customer are never right, anyone coming in demanding service wont get served at my location... never again, I should of followed my 1st mind and went to the one in Hoffman Estates. Moral of the review dont deal with them...

Absolutely the worst experience. If you have to use U-haul do it from an alternate location. The employees here have no people skills what so ever and clearly dont care.

ZERO STARS! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Literally walked out crying due to frustration (on our 3rd visit on our move day, because they couldnt seem to keep it together or accommodate us in any way). First the rental is apparently not in their system, yet the movers I added on because they offered (AFTER I RENTER THE TRUCK) were booked fine. Only truck I can now get from them is larger than I need, and more expensive. I bite the bullet and take the truck because we needed to meet movers on time. FINE. Then the movers say our stuff will be safer with straps, because of the large truck... more extra costs. My fiancé goes back to uhaul and asked if they could discount us considering the glitch earlier, this being equipment we only need due to a larger truck. The gentleman goes on and on how it was 0% their fault and we deserve no special service. We dont buy the straps there obviously, and they then tell my fiancé they are blacklisting us, because he give him a small attitude after being told 20 times why it was our fault (OBVIOUSLY).... THEN THEY CHARG THE WRONG CARD! The same card they made me run 3 times and then cancel before making me run a different card. When I return they again tell me this is NO FAULT of theirs. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE, ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY, NEVER EVER RETURNING (after being a faithful customer for 5 years). Will only ever return to a different location, if that, waiting to hear back from corporate. Beware if youre hoping for a smooth moving day!Edit: The day we returned the truck they charged both my debit and credit card and said there was nothing they can do. I had to call my bank to get it reversed. Also the regional manager never bothered calling us as promised. We will absolutely never be returning to any Uhaul, considering their corporate office doesnt seem to be any more helpful.
