The woman on the phone and the gentleman helping us unload the boxes from our truck were so friendly and helpful. We were donating a valuable library of books dated back to the 1800’s. We were cheerfully donating then knowing their worth. A very mean and cranky woman stood there as we were unloading the boxes. She was glaring at us and telling us orders in a very disrespectful tone. She caused so much conflict that we didn’t feel like leaving our donation there. We packed it back up and she was still being rude and barking her negativity at us. We were gracious and kind but needed to leave without donating our valuable library. She needs to find a different way to volunteer…not work with people. It was an emotional decision to pass them on in the first place, we didn’t need all that stress. Rotten woman.
Great books
Amazing selection of books
Every month for the past decade or so, our family has enjoyed browsing and buying great books at amazing prices at this place. The fun of discovering a find can only be experienced, not described. Kids and adults alike will find something to enjoy at one of the three book sale rooms. My daughter looks forward to going there and plans how she is going to spend her allowance on the books. I feel it has contributed to improving the variety in her reading.
Friendly lots of books on many subjects
Probably the best used book sale (and used book store) in the area! I have their monthly sales on my calendar. Well-organized book sale in a large (air conditioned) building with books sorted/shelved by topic / genre. Prices are very low / reasonable.
I like spending time here browsing and reading. The new, well thought-out environmentally friendly building provides pleasant atmosphere and reading areas. The catalogue isnt as expansive as Mountain View library, for example, but still decent.
Good good library to get stuff done. Flew through studies and stopped by Philz for a cup on my way. Get out for a walk around a spacious green park when the need for fresh air comes.
Great Organization! Really Recommend Checking it out!
Ok I really like what they do and I have always been donating and buying. However if you are standing inside with your arms full of books at 3:30 pm (open2-4) and they tell you to go and return Monday, then that is it! I will have to find somewhere else where the donation is appreciated
Wonderful place to volunteer, though the sheer volume of donations seems overwhelming, the incredible volunteers organize them all beautifully for the monthly sales. If you love books, and great co-workers to volunteer with, this is just what you need.
This is one of the best used book sales around. I never miss it. The volunteers are friendly and they have a great selection of books as well as DVDs!
They run the best regular book sale Ive ever been to, and Ive been going for a good five years now.
Awesome book sale every month. Thank you volunteers!
It is lovely to be able to give books a new home when my boys outgrow them, and help the library at the same time.
If you read, youll be in heaven. Incredible deals! Bring a few resuable bags to put your horde of books in.
You can buy books at the Middlefield Monthly sales or at the Library stores. I especially like the Middlefield Monthly Sales, held on the second Saturday, Sunday and Monday of each month - and books I saw were almost all between 25-50 cents in paper, and $1-3 hardbound . On the first day, Saturday, there is the biggest selection, on the second day. Sunday, prices go down as low as $5 a bag, later in the day. On the third day, Monday, after 6pm, in the Bargain Room, ALL BOOKS ARE FREE, ON MONDAYS ONCE A MONTH - the second Monday of the month in the Bargain Room. There are thousands of books. Its an advantage of living in a well-to-do district - people can afford to make lots of donations, and there are fewer people shopping for them. I found the all-volunteer staff to be wonderfully helpful and friendly. And buying here is for a good cause, it supports the Palo Alto Public Library.
Great venue to get good quality books at a very cheap price. They hold a big sale once a month and the remaining books that are not sold during the weekend are offered for free the next Monday after the sale.
A good book sale. Not a fan of different hours of opening for different sections of the book sale.
Great selection of books at bargain prices but some of the volunteers have a mild attitude problem.
Very good book bargains on their sales
Very nice service. Donated books and got free boxes!
Considering that their books are just donated, they have the most expensive selling price of used books. Senior volunteers are not friendly. They act as if they own the bookstore, very impolite, and very racist! You might want to think twice before you support them. There are plenty of Friends of the Library organization and I have not seen one as worse as this one.
Donations are easy, just drop them off at the main book sale area in the back.
Great place for Book Lovers and amazing prices
Amazing quantity of books to purchase.
Great people, awesome monthly sale
Great cheap books
Get your books here!
Thousands of books at bargain prices!
Love the library collection
