Medium sized Safeway store with sufficient parking in MidTown Palo Alto. Good for routine grocery items. It includes a pharmacy which is providing free Covid vaccines. Their restrooms inside the store are open for all.

Kind of a smaller store but the employees are always helpful and really nice. I love that theyre open late for those nights that you realize at 10:30 pm, after youve changed into your pjs, that theres no milk for cereal in the morning so you have to get dressed and drive up to the store :) luckily this store is located conveniently close to me.

Its an older Safeway. It probably hasnt had a major remodel for a while. This Safeway has been there at least since the mid-70s if not earlier. Its small its a little funky. The staff is friendly but like a lot of stores these days they are understaffed and dont have self-checkout yet. I got there early and found what I needed and got out fairly quickly. Im not crazy about the star rating system. I would say categorized but then it would take too much time so I guess one to five stars is good enough I suppose. All in all I had a decent shopping experience.

Just a regular no frills grocery store. Thats fine but the sevice is really bad. I just spent 25 min trying to get some cold cuts and a bit of sliced cheese. What an deli at this store is very challenging. This guy didnt have clue. And he was so painfully slow. It was more like he didnt even care. I had to wait for someone just to show up at the deli as he was busy gabbing with his associates. This is definitely the worst Safeway Ive been to in quite some time.

Great pick up snacks place while on the road.Make sure you register for a Safeway card (its your phone number).I saved $7 for over $50 of groceries.

This is a smaller Safeway store than others in the region, so it hasn’t quite as much variety in its stock as some. Hence four stars instead of five. But it’s clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate, and the staff always courteous and helpful. It’s in a very convenient location for anyone living in Midtown or South Palo Alto, and carries all the standard products that everyone uses, plus many specialty items as well.

I have been a loyal Safeway customer since 1982. SAFEWAY used this pandemic, to justify their false claims of low inventory which increase the demand and gave Safeway a reason / excuse to increase the price of groceries three times and four times their value. It should be illegal what Safeway has done. I will not shop at Safeway ever again. It is disgusting how expensive this grocery store has become. DO NOT SHOP AT SAFEWAY!

Self checkout person was very helpful when our item rang up at the wrong price.

This was a mom & pop place that became a Safeway. It’s made the transition and retained a little of the original feel. Safeway gone cute.

Dont come here after 9pm see pictures of visit. Parking lot lights are off, dark bring your flashlight or be prepared to whatever can happen

Its one of your smaller Safeway stores doesnt have a bakery and it doesnt have the room to stock as much as others Safeways yet theyre meat and produce is always fresh and available

This particular store is always understocked and under staffed. If I have the time I will drive to the store on Rengstorff. Larger store, always stocked and staffed. And its never that crowded.

Big and well stocked

Its Safeway. Its dusty, overpriced, with long checkout lines and rude unhelpful cashiers. Yes, this particular one is shittier than your average Safeway. But lets be honest, its after 10 and Trader Joes, Whole Foods and all other decent grocery stores are closed. So its either this or the gas station mini market. Why else are you checking out this store?

I felt followed at this store by a man at the first register upon entry of the store. he followed me as I walked in by myself on my phone toward the produce section and then he noticed that I noticed he was following me and he disappeared into the back. then he magically reappeared as I was paying for my stuff at the register I saw him at when I walked in 🤷🏿‍♂️ too many boy scouts out here lol every time I dont walk into a place that isnt a fast food restaurant, Im like spit on Pop rocks (because they think Im up to something that causes profit lose our worse)

Cozy neighborhood grocery store

Not a great experience... Ive been here multiple times and they are always out of stock on popular things, there are always carts in the parking lot blocking spots because they dont have a place to return them, and its not uncommon to wait 20 minutes to check out.

This is a smaller Safeway .They do not have their own bakery but still have a deli they dont have has big of a selection as other ones but you will it still be able to find a little of everything

The worst Safeway Ive ever been to. Many items out of stock, no music, old outdated building & not one person offered assistance on my first trip shopping here around 9am on a Wednesday. The bagger had his nose exposed from improper mask wearing while walking to his station. Numerous aisles blocked with seemingly abandoned stocking carts. If I was in a wheelchair, it would have been impossible to shop here. One employee had food on her cart, a few items fell off. She shrugged, and just kept walking with the cart leaving the items on the floor in front of me, blocking passage. Abysmal!

Easy parking. Found everything I needed. Quick checkout.

I like the 3-driveway entrance/exit, so you can get out when the place gets clogged with traffic. The staff can be hit or miss, but they become lovable characters in your life if you come here enough.The wine section has really expanded over the years, and occasionally the deals are better than CostCo. The place reminds me of good times with someone I love, so heres to Kali Hart. :-)

Very clean, well-stocked and decorated store. The are consistently helpful. I am continually impressed by how cheap their products are. They also have a fantastic parking ground for their customers.

Low stock levels with the corona stuff going on, but staff helpful and friendly with good prices (and better for safeway members).

Pleasant store, has been here a long time but is clean and accessible. Parking can be a little challenging in tiny parking lot, but it isnt really that big a deal given the neighborhood. Check out can be pretty tedious at times given staffing.

I love this little Safeway. It is not as big as a regular Safeway and doesnt have all the same hot foods but the customer service here is very good. I look forward to my early morning shop that I usually do every other week. They have a private parking lot and a red box. A coin star and a customer service booth Im assuming they do money grams and stuff. All In all this is my family grocery store in Palo Alto

It is a small Safeway and you cant always find what you need but it is close by. Often the line is long but I have never seen all the checkouts open. Maybe I always go at the busy time. The staff is very nice and friendly.

24hrs Monday-Sunday? They could not make it easier on our schedules, so this is our favorite. If I know theres a high chance well be waiting twice as long to pay for our groceries? Ill ink that in and make the best of it.

I like this smallish neighborhood store because it is not rearranged every two months and because it is on my way home from work. But if youre looking for anything slightly exotic, youre better off going to the BIG store on San Antonio Road in MtView or El Camino in Menlo Park.

Good store but feels a little bit cramped

I go to this Safeway all the time. A good big supermarket. The only complaint I have is that it is very short-staffed both at the checkout and in the aisles. Not the may I help you Safeway of the recent past before it was bought out by another large chain - Albertsons I think.

Waited over 20 minutes at the hot food counter and no one ever came to help me at lunch time. Youd think theyd be smart enough to have at least one person working at the counter during the middle of the day for peoples lunch breaks. Thanks for wasting my entire break.

No customer service. The last time I was here I went to one cashier, and without saying a word, he turns his light off. Guess he decided his shift was over despite the line of customers in front of him. The other cashier doesn’t say hello, doesn’t acknowledge us, and remains silent with a blank stare after cashing all of our items. How about telling us the total for our bill? Nah, that requires too much brain power. This isn’t the only instance where the cashiers aren’t courteous. This is just one of many examples. God forbid they have to smile and say hello to someone!

I love that they have a Safeway in this neighborhood but it is a small Safeway and they are limited to what they can carry versus the bigger Safeway on San Antonio Road and El Camino Menlo Park

Great Store! My favorite Safeway for miles around because I dont have to walk a mile inside the store to get from fruits to bread. It has everything basic that I want on a weekly basis. I shop here twice a week.

This Safeway is small and tends to be understaffed. There is no bakery area. The butcher area is also small and usually smells like it needs a good cleaning There are frequently people panhandling outside and/or bothering you to sign something.

This Safeway is a bit smaller than most, Less of a selection to choose from. Employees are not excited to be there and it shows. Store is clean and in a convenient location.

I bought a six pack of wine and left it behind like a big dumb dumb. They had it waiting for me the next day at customer service. Thank you so much!

Fantastic savings

They never have enough checkstands open and when they do open a new one, they don’t move people over who have been waiting. They let anyone jump in person. I regularly wait more than 15 minutes to check out, so I often choose to do my shopping elsewhere.

This place is always short staffed. You have to wait 30 plus minutes in line to buy something and today it took me another 15 min to buy beer with ID told me to look up California law. At the end I was able to buy beer but went thru lots off BS.

The cashier in the Express lane (counter 6) is not very friendly and helpful. I went to buy groceries and by honest mistake I went to the express lane. I was in a hurry and did not see the express lane sign. She did not say anything while I was putting all the groceries in the counter and when I was done, she finally said Maam this is the express lane. I apologized and said Im so sorry I did not see the sign. And asked do you want me to move? She did not offer to help me at all so I decided to pick up all my stuf and move to the next counter. She even pointed up and said, theres a big sign up there. So rude! Did she even think I would go to her lane if I read it? Very poor customer service!!

Pros: 24 hours, pleasant checkout staff. Cons: Probably the smallest Safeway in the area, often short-staffed, long lines. If you live nearby, do you have a choice? No bakery onsite, so fewer baked goods than other Safeway locations.

Its a small store so they have to limit the items they carry. Most items they will have one or two brands. Anything out of the ordinary youll have to go elsewhere. But they are fine for my day-to-day needs.

Had to wait for hot food to cook, and one more time, I tried to buy pop starts. Every box on the shelf was at least 1 year Out of Date. Many items throughout the store are bad on a reg. basis.

I wish the Safe way near my house was as big and staffed as this location. Good job.

Good store you can find everything

Its small and convenient. They have just enough stuff to be our fall back store. Most of the staff are friendly; a few, not so.

Very good that it is open 24 hours. But the line is always long, cashiers are very rude and seem to hate their job.

Parking is horrible. My car got side-swiped and no cameras in parking lot. For a small store, the displays in aisles make getting your cart through impossible! So stupid to make customers fight the junk to get through, wait forever in line, and then take no responsibility for what happens in their parking lot. Mixed results dealing with cashiers. Each time I go, I swear it will be my last.
