That is a Menoniten Cheese it comes from Mexico it is a really good one you should try it
This place is much better than the Walmart in town. It has everything you need at only a small mark up price wise. The wait at the registers usually isnt bad and it has a little bakery for when you want something sweet
The prices really are higher because they’re the only grocery store in Pecos. They’re not friendly. The deli has bbq beef ribs that were tremendous. Overpriced, but really good. They have decent produce but expect to pay more. It will be good for the local market to have some competition when United comes in.
This is a nice storeThis is the only grocery store in Pecos. Thankfully its nice. They had most of the items I was looking for. The produce was fresh and ripe. We havent purchased any meat yet but so far everything has been very good.
Went in for a few essentials, found most of what I needed. Produce looked pretty good. Soups were a bit picked over, other staples and frozen was well stocked.Staff members were wearing mask and gloves.
The store has everything you need. The prices are as expected in a pricey small oil town, but not as bad as some of these comments portray. The staff isn’t a peppy big chain type staff. But I’ve gotten some of those ladies to lighten up and cracked a few jokes. It helps that I’m bilingual and I can banter back and forth. It’s a tough crowd.
The store itself is great...but the staff is not friendly at all. A simple hello at the register goes along way. I guess Im used to being asked at my local grocery store how Im doing and if I found everything I needed. I guess being the only actual grocery store in Pecos you dont have to have at least some sort of customer service...
Cashiers need to be a lot more friendlier and move their hands quicker..... lines were very long and no hurry on their part to get customers out..... very under stocked....As many individuals that are in the Pecos area some big changes have to be made. FRIENDLINESS... CURSITY... PRIDE IN THEIR TOWN will go a long way.
Absolutely the best Mexican restaurant I have been to. Totally authentic and all made fresh. They had a buffet style on the night we went. Food was hot with a fresh guacamole salad bar, chile rellenos, enchiladas and they even had dessert. We all left stuffed. I will definitely be going back the next time I travel through.
I am staying in Pecos for a few months and La Tienda has been a great source of groceries. It is well stocked and reasonably priced. Havent had an issue yet.
The store is good but what made it better was the cashier. I never see anybody scan my items so fast, she really is changing the game. Thank you so much sophia :)
Decent local store. More food to choose from than the Wal-Mart a mile away. Like everything else in Pecos, its crowded and the employees spend more time conversing with each other than paying attention to their customers. But that is par for the course in Pecos. Due to the oilfield, the prices are higher than usual. The people are usually friendly and they have a good selection. Best grocery store in Pecos, take that for what its worth.
Not many options for Groceries in Pecos, here is a medium but, wide variety of groceries with a Hispanic leaning. Great meat market, good vegetable selection, bakery and chicharrones are excellent. Cafe inside that is authentic and delicious traditional dishes, big meats! Love it!
Im from large town grocery store on every corner. Small town store have the essentials you. Pretty good meat selection. Clean, nice place.
Not only are they OVERPRICED but I always have to check every item they ring up because theres always something scanning the wrong price (in their favor, of course). So frustrating.
Its your only option for groceries in Pecos, as such its usually busy and lines can get very long at checkout. As far as options go they have a nice selection of groceries for such a small store. The water is almost constantly sold out but everything else I typically get is usually kept in stock. The clerks are not trained very well and seem resigned to begrudgingly exert the minimum amount of effort. I dont think Ive checked out once without the clerk having pausing conversion with another employee to state my total. The isles are clean and generally kept in order. The prices seem fair for the region, not exorbitant as other reviewers have stated. The parking lot is a mess of large trucks and small cars that are so askew theyre assembled as if none of them have ever used a parking lot before. This seems to be a feature all over Pecos and not one Im faulting the store for.The clerks and the long lines are the reasons for the omission of two stars.
Great prices for being in the oil field. Theyll have just about all the groceries youll need. With the volume of shoppers they still always see to be in stock. Rotisserie chicken isnt bad either.
Only grocery store in entire town with oil boom going in. Dont go on relief days because there are roughnecks shopping in packs of 3 or 4 people looking to run you over with cart. Store itself is way over priced. Several dollars higher on many items than where I live across the state. Staff is unfriendly. Unwilling to crack a smile. Feel very unwelcome. Bought several items in a hurry that were out of date. Watch milk cheeses and breads. While working in area was told by local that this store has a monopoly on the groceries in the town and competitors were not permitted by the city. May or may not be true but I would believe it. This town needs several more grocery stores. Its always 5 or more people feel in every checkout lane when I have shopped here. Glad I will be leaving soon and hopefully not return to work in the area.
Since they are the only grocery store in town they can do what they want, meaning the prices are outrageous. The quality of meat is questionable at best, theres a trend with meat expiring the day you buy it. If you like fruits forget about it there is no selection for fruit. No variety of goods either just basic stuff
Pharmacy is great. I barely had a chance to shop before they had my meds ready. This place beats all the chains.
Glad to be getting a better store in pecos, this store has taken advantage with their high prices.
Its a great place..if you dont know anything about places.
I feel terrible for the people of this small town the prices here are outrageous . The owner and managers should be ashamed of themself, the staff has always been friendly to me but the store smells very gross . I always end up driving to carlsbad NM just to avoid having to shop here . I know people will say its because its a oilfield town but the prices are extremely high even for a oilfield town.
Price gauging during crisis! How shameful!
I hate this store. Its the only store in town that sells produce & the selection sucks. It is always crowed due to it being the only store that sells food. Price gouging is ridiculous. Owners are taking full advantage off the oil boom in town. Its obvious their employees have no training in proper customer service. Also stay on alert while getting your items checked out. The cashiers will make mistakes while ringing them up( in the stores favor of coarse) I try to avoid this store & would rather drive an hour out to shop at the HEB in Odessa.
Store is NOT what it used to be when I lived here few years back. Think should be better, being so busy because of oil field work, but it continues to operate like it still serves only small community it once was.
One of the few grocery stops in Pecos. Prices are a little high but the service is good . Everything you need for the oilfield lifestyle is here.
The store has improved not only visibly but in customer service! I also noticed the Manager DJ working a register so his employee can take a break! Now thats what you call teamwork!
A bit pricey but I think its the only place in Pecos to buy groceries. Im not a big proponent of this place but you have to consider that otherwise youre driving for an hour to fort Stockton, Odessa, or 2h to carlsbad
Great selection, nice checkers, have more check out people than Walmart. Great store. Thanks
A home style store with a bit of countryman ingredient. Plenty of fresh produce and a great meat selection.
We like this store because it seemed there was always an employee willing to help you find what you were looking for. Plus its the only store in pecosTX that has some what fresh fruit and veggies.. although pecosTX Walmart has everyday needed things there is no fresh produce. Yes once again this store is expensive but its due to inflation and the oil boom. I still believe a smile and politeness can sometimes turn a persons day completely around and I must say they truly blessed me with this..
Too expensive they hardly rotate their product. Good luck if u want something from the deli. Nothing but rude old ladys and chicks who dont know the meaning of work or customer service. All that put together is the reason I shop out of town.
The only grocery in Pecos but they do a good job of stocking everything.
Good local grocery. Only one in town, however, and unable to keep up with demand on many items, especially drinks, snacks and meat.Otherwise a typical small town local grocer doing the best they can in a boom town.
Beware when buying meat, sometimes its already turning brown and its still on the shelf for buyers. Highly recommend going before 5 during the week if you can because most workers crowd the store after (being that this is the only supermarket in town, wonder why lol) making lines very long. Food is very overpriced, Im assuming owner wants to take advantage of the boom so I fell bad for the locals.
Nice little store. Got all the essentials. Seems to be a spot for guys from wells to get supplies, so it might be crowded in the evening/early morning
Friendly staff, needs better sales and better choices for food, meat and vegetables and fruit. Need to rotate food and watch for best by date. Needs a remodel and bigger grocery store.
It has what you need to get for dinner that day. It doesnt have much of a variety of meats or if you shop for groceries monthly here it will be pricy. I get like a full cart of groceries no matter what you get you will always pay over $200 sometimes $300. The cashiers and employees are not helpful or friendly. You will not be greeted when you enter the door nor when you get to the register. It is the only grocery store in town that offers fresh produce and a small selection of meat.
Clean place.. good layout.. prices some items remind you where you are... middle of nowhere... the staff was surprised I spoke to them and I was glad to make more than one staff member laugh, instead of having a face of dread
Always crowded. Smells funky mowt of the time. Slow service. High prices. Low quality of food.
Its a grocery store, nothing special but clean and pleasant. I cant really comment on prices, didnt look very close. It was hot so I went here to get a bunch of popsicles for my work crew, they have ice and cheep coolers. Smiles all around.
I personally love la tienda it has all the things I want
This established has lost its family felt touch with oilfield over, run the price through the roof and thats if you can even get the meat, the cashiers although seem to still be friendly and courteous
Its the only place in town to shop and they know it. Dirty, smelly and out of date store. The employees care nothing for the customers and very much dislike the oil field traffic that comes in there. And most everything in the store is extremely over priced. Gouging the oil field workers and the locals in the process. If you dont HAVE to shop there... Dont.
Always packed hard to find stuff need a better system on where things are located
Food is awesome, staff is very friendly only wish they had seating ❤💚💛
Nice store, good location, clean, well laid out, well stocked. Friendly associates. Highly recommended.
Much better than the Walmart. Nothing too special, but Ill take what I can get in these small towns.
Fairly expensive. Fresh produce extremely expensive. Limited selection. We only used this store twice in 3 months. Locals advise to go to Odessa or Ft. Stockton to buy groceries.
Very packed. Caters to Hispanic taste. Which was fine today cause I need something Hispanic.
One of the nasty and dirt grocery store ever visited and their prices are very high coz they know they are the only one in town. I would rather drive to ft stockton or odessa for better quality. costumer service is very bad.
Okay place to go....
Not bad but got to watch what you buy over price on alot of their stuff
Not bad for a small town store, they people who work here are always nice, they try their hardest to stay in stock too
Like a food city but smaller they got all food here at reasonable prices
Always find good stuff. Really really really pricey.
Woo this little grocery is doing a lot of business..Not much on the shelf.. but its also mothers day weekend... Friendly workers .. looks like the only grocery store out side of Walmart... Ill reather go to the la yienda any Time
The employees need to have a customer service attitude, they dont bother to help you.
Since its basically the only grocery store in Pecos, you have to shop here. It is by far the worst grocery store I have shopped in at. The registers are manned by teenagers that will not even acknowledge the customer, you can be fully checked out without having spoken to the cashier and meanwhile have been forced to hear the useless banter between the staff. No thank you, no did you find everything you needed, you are lucky to get the price. Definitely an arrogant monopoly.
Good place to buy your groceries, clean and stock. must of the time the items are a lil bit pricey but some other time they got good deals
Nice family like supermarket store.better then the local walmart and quality food but a litte more in price.
Over priced groceries due to no competition locals say local government prevents new groceries from opening. No FREE MARKET HEAR only CRONY CAPITALISM?
Service is very helpful, products are labeled and priced, and produce is fresh and clean.
I am not a fan of this grocery store, but right now it is the only grocery store in our town in West Texas. I only go to it when I dont have enough time to drive to a town 50 miles away. The items here are overpriced due to the lack of competition and the influx of oil field workers who are willing to pay whatever price they have to for items. This store caters to the Hispanic population as well as the oilfield workers. By catering to the Hispanic population, all I mean is most of the food labels that are in Spanish are turned to the Spanish side rather than the English side. And the oil field workers are not given any limits on the amount of products they can purchase at one time. So quite frequently the store is out of products for that reason. It is very frustrating to deal with.
Very friendly staff. Cashiers are usually fast, especially during the day. Lines are super long during the evenings and weekends due to all the oil field workers getting their shopping done and lack of cashiers for the evenings and weekends. The produce department is very depressing!
The only one, in Pecos. Pack of your needs, prices for this area are 25% Up or more. In general ok, but they could do better on cleaning!!
Not a HEB. But real nice for a town the size of Pecos. Good selection of food and checkouts are usually fast.
Place is clean, parking lot was painted ..... but retards still manage to make the parking lot a cluster **** . The meat market is good those guys know their stuff and produce is fresh .
It has a decent selection. The only other place is a distance from pecos!
The prices were kinda high...but not too bad for being in the middle of nowhere!?!😏 The employees (cashiers) were NOT friendly...at ALL 😠😕!!
Decent grocery store trying to serve unexpected influx of oilfield traffic.
Real expensive. Service well you better know Spanish here. Produce is medium qualty aa well as the meats. Only place to shop for food in a hour and half. Parking lot is dirty.
Dont get me wrong Im in pecos, I do not have very high standards for a grocery store, that aside it is really hard to shop for food to eat with the smell of rotting produce, with a after smell of fecies, Ill try Walmart next time.
Only grocery store in pecos that I know of, so far they’ve had everything I’ve been looking for!
Good produce section, not a bad store. Nicely stocked considering demand.
Good selection of groceries for Pecos. Lots of help and very friendly staff
Nice store clean but prices are very high
Service wonderful. Prices are a little high some people unable to leave town for groceries are paying a little bit more than they should
This store is so bad. Their meat always gives me and the people I have seen buy, a bad stomach ache or just makes them feel sick. Everything yall have in the store is way over priced and in the winter it sucks just going in the owner to greedy to buy a heater. Always cold in the store.
Good selection of food veary expensive I am injured an just wish that someone from there would be kind enuff at some point to offer to help me out but no such luck.
Terrible nastiest grocery store Ive ever stepped foot in youd be better off dumpster diving. It would smell better anyway
Spectacular compared to the other place in town. Well stocked and nice variety.
Could be better. not enough in stock of anything
Not a bad store, better shopping thsn Smallmart grocery. It helps to speak Spanish with employees.
Love the people always helpful & so nice.
Awesome . Great . Good . Everithing you need . A lot stuff . And many brands . Very Recomend it
Very nice store and good place to get your groceries when you out here working
Unhelpful staff. The grocery selection is decent, but skip the deli if what you need is available prepackaged.
Only place in Pecos to shop for veggies. Better than Walmart.
Cashiers should learn how to smile and greet the customer and thank them..Im from Pecos originally but I now live in San Antonio n this past weekend I went to visit family and went several times to the store to purchase food n drinks. The worst customer service ever... and it is sad to see how my hometown stores dont have great customer service.. at least smile at the customer cashiers!!!!!
Rediculously overpriced, and the woman handling returns was incredibly unprofessional who knows zero about appropriate customer service. The extremely unethical mark-ups is reason enough for citizens of this town to push for the expansion of the local Wal-Mart, or some other alternative. Some competition would be a good education for the owners in standards of decency regarding their pricing of products, and would also teach them who the most important person in the room is - the customer.
Well stocked, good selection, friendly staff. 😎
Nice place but the need to rest restripe the parking lot.
This is one of the .last helpful staffed Napa in west Texas always take care of the customer!!
It took quite a while for anyone to take our drink order. My wife had to go get straws from the front. The waitress NEVER gave us silverware. Had to ask numerous times for condiments and picante for our quesadillas. Had to go pay with no ticket.
It has its ups and downs considering its the only grocery store in town. Be prepared to pay alot on alcohol and meats.
