I was visiting Pendleton and read about Staplemans Boots in the local tourist guide and decided just to pop in to watch them in action - I had no intention of buying a pair of boots. Well, there was a beautiful pair of boots sitting on the counter that caught my eye so I started to make inquiries and fifteen minutes later Richard was measuring my feet for custom boots. I had always wanted nice cowboy boots (or any nice boot) but I have very wide feet and calves (thanks Grandma!) and could never find anything that fit. During the design phase, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted and their assistance was invaluable. I have since received the boots and they are more beautiful than I could ever have imagined. And the best part, they are the most comfortable footwear I have ever owned - I wear my boots all the time and can walk miles in them. People have stopped me on the streets of New York City asking me where I purchased the boots, including a shoe salesperson at the new Nordstrom store. They are so comfortable I have to start saving for a second pair of boots - Richard is not only a true gentleman, but also a master of his craft!

You may not REALIZE that you need a pair of cowboy boots, but ten minutes inside Stapleman’s will cure you of that ignorance. It’s not cheap (I’m saving up!) but even if you can’t buy yet, it’s fascinating to watch them work on the boots. Every boot here is crafted by hand—and you can drift in off the street just to watch the old-fashioned magic.

Staplemans made my wife & I two sets - One set of custom Black Loafers for me, and one set of custom Ostrich & Alligator Boots for my wife. These are by far the best shoes (and boots) weve ever owned. They are hand-made made to our feet shape/size/height/width, and we picked the colors, leather, sole, and style. These will last us 20-years, and are we support the BUY LOCAL focus.

We were driving through when we discovered our boat cover had come unstitched. I called stapleman boot shop and asked if he could help me with this unusual mending job. He told me he could help and let us bring it right in. He did a great job and saved our trip to Puget Sound . Thank You Richard you could have changed us any amount and we would have paid it, but you were beyond fair!
