All around great experience with A1. Purchased a new construction home recently and needed a wood privacy fence. Mitch came out to measure and walk through everything with me. He’s been in this business for a long time. He knows his stuff.Once it came time to pull the trigger, Robert (foreman) and his team did a great job with the install. We had about 215 linear feet done, and it took about 10 days start to finish, and I was happy with the timeline.They came to do the posts over several days. They were solid, level, perfect. Next all the pickets were installed. No issues.Look, these guys aren’t the fastest in the world. But when you’re buying something that will add value to the home, look good and last a decade or more, you want it done right the first time. They took their time and did it right. Had 2 gates installed and they’re perfect.Couldn’t be happier! Thanks guys!!!

June 2, 2021I ordered a new double gate from A-1 Hurricane Fence Industries to replace the old one they had put in with the fencing we bought from them over 30 years ago. I was so satisfied with the job they did back then. I looked to see if they were still in business. They were so I called them and today Tracy installed the new gate and took the old rusty one away. She did an amazing job! Both sides swing freely on their hinges. I do not have to pick up and carry the one side across the driveway or have to use a bungie cord to keep closed to keep dog in yard and safe. I have a new top notch working double gate again, much easier to come and go out of the yard again. I am a faithful and satisfied customer. I will call them again if I need any fence or gate repair in the future.Carol

Sally took out my chain link & privacy fences. After careful consideration, I felt it was best to wait ( & I waited!!) on A-1 Hurricane Fence. Robert, Ken, & Dustin did one fantastic job. Perfection. The guys that set the posts were just as great too. Manners, professionalism, work ethic, attention to detail are second to none. Went above & beyond my expectations! And as an old farm & ranch girl, I understand great fencing jobs & bad ones. These guys take it to a whole new level. We ordered a gate in early February and called to get status in March and April both times I was told someone would get back with us and no response. I called back in mid April and was told we slipped under a crack and he apologized I was told a day they would be there and still no one showed up are even called I called back and again was told when they would show up and again No one. They have terrible Customer Service and would never use them .

Everyone there is so nice especially the owner just good Hometown business very very helpful! So glad I stumbled onto them I will definitely use them again!

It took nearly two months to put in two gates. Paradise Fencing installed an entire fence for me less than that and they were extremely professional.

We love Hurricane Fence. When we moved back to Pensacola in 1980, they were one of our first calls to install a chain link fence. They have completed many jobs for us and now we are all wood fences. A-1 even fabricated a custom 6 tall metal clothes line. Patrick just left after he finished replacing 20 of fence and a 8 gate trashed by Hurricane Sally. Chris did the posts last week. We have never been less than 100% satisfied - the work is first class and prices are reasonable. Thanks!!

Our experience with A1 was great overall. I observed Robert installing my neighbor’s fence and noticed the quality and professionalism of his work. I talked with him, and he impressed me further by telling me about the materials A1 uses as well as the process. Robert connected me with the estimator Mitch. Mitch returned my call the same day on the weekend and came out to quote the job promptly. Robert did an excellent job installing our fence in just one day. He communicated all the details as the install progressed. We recommend A1 highly for a quality job completed in a timely manner for a competitive price. We had several other companies quote the job and A1 was the best combination of price and professionalism.

I was really excited to work with this fencing company. The price was excellent and I signed a contract shortly after getting a quote done. I pretty much assumed after about three weeks of no communication that they werent going to do the project. The person who did the quote, tracy, stated someone would be in touch to schedule a time to come out. No such luck.I then get a call saying hey we will be here in about thirty minutes. There should be more notice, especially after three weeks of no communication. The gentleman then showed up at my door and stated who he was and how he was unsatisfied with what the company was doing. I expressed my concerns to him about timing and he stated they could come back, but had no idea when and told me it wasnt a great idea. He ended the conversation stating that he would be back the following morning to pour concrete and such. He never showed. I then called the company and was met with a gentleman who said that I was misinformed. The gentleman before was not going to pour my concrete and that my schedule was seriously off. He was laughing the entire time about it. It was very rude. Eventually they did get the job done, but there was no communication and I had to call the company several times wondering when the job was going to be finished. If there had been more communication, it wouldnt have been such an issue. I dont recommend doing business with people that laugh at their customers. I will not be using them again. Ill spend a couple thousand more on a more professional and polite to me and my family.

My fence project started off rough during the tear down/post placement phase with several issues. However, Mitch was great in getting everything resolved in a timely & professional manner while reassuring me he would make sure the rest of the project would go smoothly. The crew that came out to finish the fence was Chris Harris & Patrick Tobin who did an excellent job. They were very accommodating & patient considering they were working around another crew on my property who was clearing the area behind the fence. Chris explained everything I needed to know and they worked efficiently to get the job done. I received great customer service from Mitch who I was in constant contact with. In the end I was very pleased with the outcome. I would definitely recommend this company.

Very professional from the first contact to the last nailed board. Gave us exactly what we wanted. Very knowledgeable crew. I have used this company twice now and they have been spot on each time. I especially like how the crews who install are great at picking up after the job is done. If you need a fence installed and need it done correctly the first time call them. Very reasonably priced. A 6 star company in a 5 star world

I needed a precise amount of chain link fence. They had it cut to spec by the time I arrived. The prices are cheap than Lowe’s and Home Depot. The guy that works in the front is all business, he gets it all done fast. I’ll be back for any future fencing needs.

Had a fence that was 25 years old and falling apart. Went to the home show downtown shopping for a fence company. The following week Tracy called me to set up date/time to do a site survey for a quote. She was on time and went about measuring everything quickly, then gave me a verbal quote on the spot. She made a point that they were at least 30 days out from when I signed the contract. Being in the service industry I totally understand about workload. Long story short, they were out there when she said they would be. Set the posts and came back a few days later to get to it, concrete gotta cure, fence was up in a day. Then came back the next day to finish some trim work and install the gate. I am VERY happy with the job done. Satisfied with the price/quality of work. In 25-30 years when the fence has to be replaced again, I WILL call this company again. Great people, GREAT job.

First used A-1 Hurricane Fence back in 2004. After I lost a section of fence due to the latest thunderstorm I figured it was time to replace the 16 year old fence. Contacted A-1 and talked to Mitch. He took care of me as a previous customer and he worked out a fair price for complete tear down of 260 feet of fence and rebuild of 176 feet. Tear down, haul away and new post were completed in one day. After a day or two for the cement to dry they returned and completed the cross beams and pickets before lunch. I was happy with the work 2004 and Im happy with them in 2020.

This is the second time I have had them install fencing for me. I’ve been very pleased both times. Mitch did a great job helping me decide what I needed. Richie and Joe did a beautiful job of installing even in some difficult areas. Very dependable company.

A1 Hurricane exceeded my expectations. The crews called to let me know they were coming before showing up. Everyone was professional and respectful of my neighbors. They had to remove a chain link fence and a very old and damaged privacy fence before installing the new fence. They were very conscientious about cleaning everything up before they left. The end result is a beautiful new privacy fence! I am so happy!

I really like the work. I didnt like all the broken concrete that was left around the fence that I had to pick up before I could get my yard cut.

We moved into a neighborhood who had their sign up on all the fences. Which was a good indicator for us to call this company. We contacted them and they came out and measured pretty quickly. It took a couple weeks to get someone out to do the fence and they only put up the poles and told me it would be a couple days for the cement to dry. Which sounded excessive but I know they get busy. Almost two weeks after the poles were installed they came and finished the fence. The work done was great. My only thing is, is the timing. If your really patient then it’s fine. If not then look somewhere else.

VERY unprofessional. I asked for a quote. The salesman, Mitch, came to my house 30 minutes before our morning meeting. I was getting ready for work and I was still in the shower but no biggie I thought....they are just eager for the business.Mitch quoted me a price, I agreed to it. I asked him if they could do the job a few weeks out in late May as I would be off of work. He said No problem to my suggested date. A week out, I contact him to verify that we were still on for that specific date range (I gave them a week range to make it easier for them). Mitchs reply was Do we have a contract?This was the first mention of a contract. I had intended to pay when they arrived to do the job. All of my other contractors (tree surgeons, etc) work this way. Moreover, I would have gladly signed a contract had he ever mentioned it. Mitch then proceeded to tell me that they were too busy for my job, I should have signed a contract and that he would put me in touch with a guy who used to work for them who would do the job. I was furious but let it go intending to find another company.The next day, the other guy called me. Unsolicited. Mitch had given him my information without my consent. However, I agreed to meet him to quote the job.... he never showed.This company agreed to do my job. I agreed to the price without any negotiation. I gave them more than a month in advance. They agreed to the dates...they completely broke their word. When I asked them if they could do it whenever they can...they said no we are just too busy. They are VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I cannot imagine a company owner being so reckless with his clientele and customer service.

Under new management now so here is my update.Update: immediately after I wrote my post I got a phone call from the GM Doc, who told me we wanted to come check out the fence immediately. He came the same day and I took the opportunity to tell him how disappointed I was. He told me that he had just purchased the company 3 weeks prior and was unaware of my issues. He promised he would get back to me asap and he did! What a concept! He actually called me and we set up a date at my convenience. He came on the day of the repairs and supervised the first part. Its been about two weeks since the repair and so far so good. The gate is working and holding. I gave them a three star because he still has some of the same people there that were not doing the job. I hope that Doc continues to deliver and teach some of the rude ones customer service. If I would have dealt with Doc from the beginning they would have gotten at least 4 stars. Keep it up Doc!

This is the most unprofessional company I have ever encountered. They DO NOT show up when they are scheduled and nobody bothers to let you know whats going on! I canceled plans at the last minute to be here for the installation because they called at 7:30 A.M. To say they were coming out to install today and then dont show up! Or call!!!! I do understand when the weather doesnt cooperate, but then after being put off for this and that excuse, the good weather is here, but they are NOT COMING TODAY! I was told they will be out sometime over the rest of the week when we are supposed to be having bad weather again!!!! SO I CANCELED!!!!! This is the worst experience I have ever had with a company who has been in business for such a long time. Its beyond me how they have been around so long.

Ok... so I was extremely concerned about this company because of its location. Yet, I really have nothing bad to say about A-1 Fence Company!I called first to ask about used fence and used poles. I decided to just drive up with my trailer, instead of waiting on hold.I was able to buy 20 of barely used fence and 4 used 7 foot poles for $59.40 including tax. I did have to go and find my own poles in the standing rack of fence poles, but I saved $30.00 bucks by doing so!I went out to the shop area to give my ticket to 2 guys that were building fence gates. Lamar and Reggie were the 2 men working, and stopped to help me immediately. Both men were very helpful, but Lamar has amazing people skills and could talk and work!Lamar put all my items in my trailer and even ask if I needed help securing the purchase.So, I HIGHLY recommend just going by and taking the time to share in the knowledge that Lamar and Reggie have.I know if I ever have a DIY project that needs fence materials in the future, well A-1 Hurricane Fence is the only place Ill go!

I had a chain link fence installed around my property. I called for several estimates and they beat all the prices by at least $2000. They drove from Pensacola, Florida all the way to South Alabama to install my fence. The actual owner Mitch Caprenter came and did the estimate. Their crew were very fast and efficient. We also had a couple questions on a few things and the Supervisor George Black came out and was beyond nice. If we need any more fence work done we will for sure be using A1 again. And we will refer them to anyone who needs a fence installed.

This is the worst fence company that I have ever dealt with. It was a simple privacy wood fence. They sent inexperienced people to build fence, the quality of work is horrible. The gaps are all different sizes, the spit the wood where ever they wanted, and the missed nails. They just slapped the fence up anyway they wanted. They came back once to fix it and then fix it all. They sent their sales guy back to do some work, and now they have theyre scheduling man outside doing some work. This is been a two-month ordeal and still its not even satisfactory. A total waste of money save yourself the headache do not use these guys

This is not really a diy supply, but if you have a basic knowledge of chainlink fencing this is your place to get what supplys you need. Bare in mind most of there patrons are professional people who need no coddling . Be patient and explain what you are trying to accomplish. You will end up happy you shopped here.

These guys are amazing. We are a non for profit animal rescue and they have helped us with everything from used random parts, new parts, figuring out what we need, and how. Their installs are quick and accurate.

Communication is lacking from this company. From the estimate to the final install (roughly 6 weeks) there was very little communication from the company. They could not give me an installation date, nor did they bother to call me the day of the install before they arrived, they just showed up. The install took two separate days (about a week apart). Neither day did they call to let me know that they would be there. Although, Chris, redeemed this companys reputation in my eyes due to his final install of the fence and communication during the install.

A1 Hurricane did a great job installing my aluminum gates. The problem I have is their payment method. I ask Tracy Johns do her company take credit cards for payment, she says yes however for the half down she wanted cash or check I was confuse so ask her again so your company accepts credit cards but you want a check of cash for the intial payment she said yes, so I abide. I call her company and spoke to Jennifer to see if this was company polices she says no. I was pissed I felt like I was discriminate against. Its safe to say I will not be dealing with this company again.

This is the worst company I have ever used. That do NOT do what they say, never on time, and when you call the office its like they did not know they are doing the work or they think it is done. There is a lot of other fence companies out there youll be better off with them.

We luckily had a very positive experience with A1 hurricane fence. We originally had rcvd a quote from Home Depot and the young kid who came out and gave us the quote never followed through so our fence was never installed.Anyway I called A1 Hurricane fence to get a quote and Mitch came out the next day and wrote up a contract. He told me they were 3 weeks behind so we should have our fence up in 3 weeks depending on weather. At the 3 week mark I called to see where we were on the list and was told that due to weather, employee, and truck issues, they were behind. Honestly this is not something I would have divulged to a customer, especially employee issues but thats just me.This scared me a bit but later that day two people showed up to put in our posts and then the next week 2 very nice gentleman came out and got our fence done in a few hours. They were polite, did great work, and did the job quickly. Overall it was a pretty good experience.

Zero was not an option so this company gets a 1.On June 11th I received a contract for a chain link fence install. I was told in advance there was a 25 day waiting period. I accepted both the price and 25 day wait. My expectation was to hear from A1 Fencing with an install date at some point. I emailed Tracy my salesperson on June 17th. (Maybe she didn’t get the contract?) what other reason would I not hear back from a professional, right? 33 days later and she still hasn’t responded to my message.Fast forward a bit. I called A1 Fencing for an update on June 29th and was told “you are next on the list. We will be out the first of next week.” Great news! Well, no show and no phone call the following week. I called back and got Matt, the business owner, who reiterated he was in charge and would personally handle my install and keep me informed. All the right answers if customer service is important to you. Again, no communication the next week. A customer should not have to follow up with a business about doing a job. There are options!So today I call A1 around noon and Matt (who seems like he doesn’t remember talking to me. Maybe he has several upset customers) promises to call me back after he takes lunch. Waiting...... 4:15 I finally get a call! That was a long lunch but A1 made it apparent they don’t care about customers. They have too much work. Oh yes, Matt told me that was one reason he couldn’t get to my job on time. Along with it’s rained and it’s too hot to work outside. Both valid reasons but the phone should still work, right? A quick call with an update could have helped retain a customer. I call Matt back at 4:30 and the guy that answers said he’s on the phone I can help. So I told him I wanted to cancel my install. His response “I’ll see to it”. Having little faith in this company I called back and waited on hold for Matt. Probably 7 minutes but seemed like 30. A lady checked in, laughing, and said I could wait longer. Well, what’s another 5 minutes at this point? Matt answers not with a hello but a “Mrs Lowery we will be out tomorrow.” I’m reasonable y’all but I won’t give my business to a company who cares so little about their customers. I told Matt I would rather pay double the price to a company with communication and service skills. I’m the service industry you take the good and bad feedback. Not Matt at A1 Hurricane and Fencing. He hung up on me! His action confirmed I made the right decision in cancelling my order! Be cautious using this company!!

My client received a phone call today from an employee of A-1 who threatened to remove her fence if she did not make payment for the installation. The problem is, the fence was installed and paid for nearly 18 months ago. Now, because of poor business practices, they are extorting her for payment. I am awaiting a call from the owner/manager to resolve this issue. As the owner of a local real estate company, I cannot in good conscience recommend them to any of my clients.

After signing a contract to repair a chain link fence damage by large tree limb I was told that no longer can they get that size chain link fence that it would be a different one and they couldnt do the job as specified would I be interested in and allow them to tie and a new size fence to an old size in front of my house I didnt let him know for a while and then was called about canceling the contract I was told told him no I want the job done a specified and its been a week ago the owner still has not called me to talk to me to try to straighten this mess out .Cchanging the contract!Wow

Unfortunately I have to post a negative review, the estimator was very nice but once the installers came they caused all kinds of issues tearing up neighbors sprinkler head and dog fence that was laying on top of the ground. They promised me my fence would not have to go through my planter and then the installer said otherwise, after i had already paid 50%...thousands of dollars! They later got into an altercation with my lanscapers who were trying to perfect exactly how the installer wanted the ground to be perfectly level and flush. I thought I was going to have to call the police that day. Then, to top it off, I got a bill in the mail that charged me an extra $750 for extra time that they spent arguing with my landscapers that day ??? I really was disappointed with the unprofessionalism with this company and they are now attempting to put a lien on my property after I refused to pay for services and time that are just completely falsified and more than that, it caused me extra time, expense and stress to deal with them to just try to get them to finish their job. Now have to retain a lawyer... spare yourself and find a company that is honest and fair! I did not do a lot of checking into these people so that was my mistake...but now I see the many company names they have and that should/would have tipped me off!

I am right there with Galen. A week ago they showed up out of the blue tore down my existing fence, installed posts and left. Today is July 8 that was July 1st.Back to the beginning: I had someone come out mid April to give me an estimate and she never replied back so I called the company and was given her cell number. When I called I requested that she send me the estimate via email. Several days passed with no email so I left her a voicemail. The email finally shows up, I reply back looks good when do we get started?Nothing, nada.Days pass so I drive over to the company and talk to a gentleman who says he will take care of it. I come home one evening to find utility flags everywhere so naturally I am thinking the fence is coming! 5 weeks pass no fence so I call the company again. I am told what I ordered usually takes about two weeks. Yes, but I okayed the estimate back in April we are now in June.Another week passes and I come home to more utility flags (it had been so long my husband probably mowed the lawn 7 times since they were originally marked so there was no way to know where the flags went by then). Again I am thinking the fence is coming! Two weeks pass no fence. Now a week ago they tore down the entire fence so we cant let our animals out and we worry about other dogs coming in the yard and harming our kitties.Cant comment on quality or workmanship at this point. We did not pay anything upfront but would love to have a fence back in place to protect our property from roaming animals. Please come and finish the job!!!If it looks good I will give you 5 Stars for workmanship but the customer service and communication with me has been awful.Jo Welch

Absolutely horrible experience with A1. I signed a quote with them 2.5 months ago and still do not have a fence! They installed posts 3 weeks ago and still havent sent a framing crew out to complete the job. They arent on time, they dont value customer service, they keep giving excuses about other jobs ahead of mine, weather, etc. Bottom line? They dont care. Go elsewhere.If I could give 0 stars, I would.

15-20 days our turned into 6+ weeks of no responses, no return phone calls.. before someone had to drive to their location to insist upon contact and work completion. Would not use again.
