A while ago I went inside to look around two hours before closing. The owner told me he was trying to close early and followed me around the store until I walked out. I liked the selection in the store but never bought anything and never will from here due to the lack of customer service and courtesy. The owner was not only arrogant but was extremely rude.

Great little escape. Some of the friendliest people in town and you can tell they truly love what they build. This is a train lovers mini Disneyland. I could have stayed and played all day.

Very nice place for being a small business. Nice selection and great train layout to look at. Friendly workers makes a great shopping experience.

Theres no pressure to buy. But its a very neat place to visit. They do sell model trains, and while Id like to get into it one day, I don’t have the kind of money for that hobby.

The staff, especially Bob, were very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend this establishment.

A really cool store. a little over priced in my opinion but these locally owned hobby stores are worth the extra dollar for the people aspect.

Johnsons has been an awesome train store for decades. They carry EVERYTHING you could need to create beautiful train set ups in every gauge of train. They carry a large selection of new and gently used trains and accessories.

The staff are super friendly and helpful and will answer any questions you may have. The prices are also pretty good, sometimes better than most deals on eBay. They have everything you could want to get started in model railroading and expand on it. Theres definitely something for all scales, stages, and varieties.

Great train shop. Has great selection of HI and some O. Lionel, Williams and even small amount of American Flyer. Worth a stop in. Great people!!

Very wonderful experience! My boy loved the trains and the owner/manager? Let him push some buttons on the controls for the model trains. He was so happy to see the models and towns built for display. We got a goodie bag that he loved. The owner was very knowledgable and friendly. Happy to talk and give information about train history. Im sure we will be back! He had a wonderful selection of model trains,scenery and accessories plus Thomas the train set.

While this place does have a good inventory, my god the owner is an arrogant jerk. Treated me like an idiot because I like Lionel trains and tried to scare me out of a project I needed help with. Way to treat someone who has been a customer of yours since 2010. Don’t be fooled about the other reviews, I know this guy’s true colors and they aren’t pretty. Thankfully the others there were much more welcoming. They’re the only reason why I am rating this place a 2 instead of a 1. However, I likely won’t be returning. Way to go Mr. Johnson. Nice job at driving away a customer who’s been shopping at your business for almost a decade.

Best model train store in the Panhandle! The Johnsons know how to treat their customers right...a must stop for the young engineer in any family...

Took our granddaughter to visit the train store. She loved it, had to force her to leave. Dave turned on the trains in the train room and she was mesmerized. We ordered a Christmas train set with extra car and tunnel while there, and are probably going to order another train set we saw while there. You can not visit the store and not enjoy yourself.

This store doesnt look like much from the road, but inside was well worth the hour long drive from Destin to check them out. Service is excellent and people that run the store were great to deal with. This is a family owned business and they treat customers like they should. Had a pretty good selection of used items, and also a big selection of new stuff, including scenery and things not normally found in most hobby shops that Ive been to. Ill continue to go back to this store when I return to destin on our next vacation.

We went in and the older man with a eye patch followed us around like we were gonna steal. He stood right over my shoulder and we felt like we were being rushed out of their store. Worst Customer service I have ever dealt with. We would have purchased more but didnt like feeling like we were thieves. We would have liked to have browsed the store but we only made it around the table.WE WILL NOT BE BACK!

Store makes me smile with excessive glee. Gargantuan amount of selection, especially much of the old Revell, Tyco, AHM, and others. Making this a haven for model railroaders with a keen eye for things. Will also special order, as I bought some nice structures that way. Place should not be missed!
