I dropped off my bike to get my tires fixed. While I was there I browsed the store. I ended up buying some shoes, shirts, and a hat. They were so helpful! I picked up my bike a couple days later and they took the time to make sure everything was perfect. Ill be back!
Sam Joslin is to be commended for his exemplary customer service and patience. We purchased a new bike for my 5 y.o. daughter this morning and Sam gave us the space, information, and grace for her to make the right decision. Thank you, Sam!
I was amazed being the only car in the lot and the customer service was at a one or less. My intention was to buy a new umbrella for my patio table. I walked in the door was not greeted, attempted to look where the umbrellas were, could not even get through that area. There were tables and chairs stacked in front of it there was absolutely no way to get there. I asked if there was some bright colored umbrellas she said no just a yellow one. She did not attempt to look up to see if they could order one, to see if there was some in storage, or to continue waiting on me. Disgusted as I was I walked out.I took pictures of the outside of the building talk about a cold lonely place! Nothing like whats on Facebook. this was an afternoon shot Time enough to get whatever they needed to have on display out Thats for sure.
Ordered an item on line and was shipped a display model rather than the new merchandise I had paid for. And then the store would not pay for the item to be shipped back for a refund, leaving me to pay that when it was their fault. Might be okay if you live locally and can see what youre buying, but dont get anything mail order from here.
I stopped in earlier this year and they fixed my bike. (thats another 5 star review) but this time I needed some hiking boots. I shop small so I went in to see what they had. I was greeted by a nice young person who helped me pick up out some cool boots and casual shoes. She didnt rush me at all and even showed me pics of her cat when I asked about him. (I had a cat mask on) Really, really great customer service and the shoes are high quality. They are located right by the bike trail so check it out. I saw they had new bikes in. :-)
Possibly the best retail shopping experience of my life. I went in knowing what I wanted (The Burly Bee trailer or something in the burly line) Walked in and was greeted promptly. Told him what I was there for and he walked me back to show what they had. I said yep ill take the bee after a short back and forth about the models with him answering every question I had. Now it could of just stopped there for him, he made the sale his job was done. He went over every single aspect of the trailer after checkout to make sure I fully understood all of its functions and how to connect it to my bike (and to make sure the axel springs are in the correct position). I cannot stress enough how good of an experience I had at this store. Every other retail store could learn a lot from this place on how to serve customers.
Good service, good bikes, and good precision line tudorship of all bicycles; for sure.
Just bought a great pair of hiking boots at Bushwacker. The person helping me seemed knowledgeable and gave good advise. Only negative was that he seemed distracted and could have been a little more attentive. Bushwacker is my go to place for outdoor items.
Great people and selection of outdoor gear
Excellent store and service. The staff have a lot of experience in outdoor activities and are easy to work with. The owner Rich has a wealth of knowledge and a welcoming smile.
Thanks to Robert today! He helped us choose all the extra items we needed for the new bike we ordered with Credit card points. He helped us know what we needed and what was a nice add on. he gave us the why for each item he suggested. such a great experience to get quality service, no one tried to upsell us, and we now have EVERYTHING we need to get on the trail. We will be back for everything we will need while starting out on our cycling journey. Thanks so much for supporting Ive Decided to Ride we are now hooked!
Great gear. Wonderful staff.
Great place. Took my old mike to look for a new one with limited supply they helped me fix up my old bike. Made great recommendations and called me multiple times to make sure that they got it right. Picked up today had bike running like it did 20 years ago.
Great place. Shopped here for years. Old location was great too.
Bradley provided great customer service and expertise as my husband and I chose hiking boots! We hit the trails right after we left the store. Great purchase and a great shopping experience!
Great service and at a very reasonable price.
Not to disrespect the store itself, because the employees have never been noticeably rude or unhelpful, but rather the product they sell here. We’ve purchased about 6 bikes total from this store within the last 6 years or so and all of them start to have issues within 9 months, that are relatively expensive. We take care of the bikes and do proper maintenance but they don’t hold up longer than around a year.
Always helpful, kind employees. Only place in Peoria area that had what I needed in stock!
New to area. Got my son a new bike and then got new tyres on my own. Couldnt recommend them enough. Fantastic service. Great quality bikes and workmanship. 👍
The customer first philosophy of this business is absolutely outstanding! They never cease an opportunity to give me great customer service, to give great helpful ideas, to look out for the best interest does my bike, and most of all be a great friend!
I recently came in on a Saturday looking to buy a bike. I needed some help but I couldnt tell who worked there as everyone was wearing face masks. No greeting on entry and no one asked if I needed help and the folks running the registers were busy. Very disappointed as I like to spend money at locally owned businesses but I got very frustrated and just left. I ended up going to Little Ades in Pekin and am very happy I did.
I love this outfitters! They have a little bit of gear for each outdoor adventure here. Rich has been in business for 43 years here at Bushwacker. He is an awesome guy, I enjoyed talking to him. The staff here have lots of product knowledge. Nadia and Savannah were kind to talk to and very helpful! Outfitters like this are what push people to explore the outdoors! Come by and see these guys they are the best in the state.
Nice store. Friendly staff.
Very poor service experience, purchased a bike from there a year ago and happened to break the rear axle. They wanted 3 days to measure the part I needed (I already had it out the bike, and on thair desk) and then 4 days to install it. ??? 3 days to measure a 5 inch threaded rod ???So I went to Illinois Cycle and they spent 2 minutes looking at it and gave me the correct part and showed me how to install it.To get an idea of my experience, try asking your dog to use a tape measure, you will understand my frustrations.
Best place ever to get great advice, outdoor gear, and fun gifts. I recommend it highly.
Fantastic support from the knowledgeable staff, especially for a beginner whos just getting into a few things. Good quality selection of products as well!
Been a staple in Peoria for many years of high quality products and service. Their bicycle repair service is more than top notch. Have been for many years and continues to present. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable in the repair department.
Bushwhacker is a fantastic store and I highly recommend working with Sam when looking to take home your next bicycle! My wife and I wanted to regain our fitness and Sam worked with us for hours finding the perfect bikes for us! He is so kind and has so much patience when asking questions and making sure the bike is comfortable. From fitting and adjustments to fitting of the helmet they do not let you walk out the door until everything is perfect! He makes you feel comfortable and makes you have fun during the whole experience. Bushwhacker is the only place I’m going to be spending my money at when it comes to any type of outdoor activity! We love our Giant Cypress and Specialized Roll Sport. Thank you for being so wonderful Bushwhacker staff!! And thank you Sam!!!!
Great, knowledgeable service. Really good genuinely helpful people.
Wonderful customer service. Ive been shopping here for years. The prices here are to be expected from a custom outdoor adventure shop. Not your average store. Professional service always available to answer questions.
I really like shopping here, only place around with real ski equipment. I do wait for the sales, i have found some good deals on good equipment and clothing. Hope this place stays in business for a long time.
Not very helpful, very little selection, and workers seemed like I was bothering them :/
Just bought lawn furniture from Deb. She was so knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The furniture is top of the line. I highly recommend this store.
My favorite bike shop in the area. And much more! Clothes, shoes, outdoor furniture. Great service. Reasonable prices. I really should rate them 4 stars since they are closed on Sundays... But Ill give that.
The only legit outdoor place in Peoria. They carry many of the great brands, like an REI would. Thankful this place is here and locally owned!
Every interaction I have had at Bushwackers has been pleasant and very helpful! I love the atmosphere created in this store. Look forward to purchasing my new adventure gear for this year here!
They take care of all my cycling needs!
About once a year I visit family in Peoria. I ALWAYS stop here. The friendliest people work and shop at Bushwhackers. They have a great selection, reasonable prices and a wonderful new building.
I traveled here from Springfield just to look, but I ended up buying a bicycle. The staff is beyond helpful in deciding what you need for your type of ride. They didn’t try to up-sale anything they pointed me to what I needed and gave me options. Thankfully there is a nice bike trail that runs directly next to the shop and they let you test ride the bikes on the trail! And as many bikes as you want to try! I am more than happy with my experience and mostly my bike!! ALSO, my boyfriend is a huge kayaker and the staff are also very knowledgeable about kayaking and where to go locally!! I will always come back to this store!!If you’re looking for cheap products go this may not be for you, BUT you get what you pay for!!!
I stopped there on a Saturday and the place was moderately busy but the bicycle department was slow. I was in the place for more than twenty minutes and nobody asked me if I needed help. I stood by the register for a couple of minutes where three employees were talking and ignoring myself and other shoppers nearby. I finally left after another shopper asked one of them a question and that clerk rudely spoke to the shopper. I felt that then enough was enough and I decided to go to another store that likes to have customers and knows how to treat them.
Stopped in for a quick browse for my first bike. There was only 5 mins left for the store to close.. but both the guys who work there dint not rush us at all.. it takes time to explain the different types of bikes to a novice like me and to answer all the questions I had. Even though I spent 15min.. it was a great experience.. these guys know a lot about bikes and are professional and committed to the passion of biking.
Excellent customer help and service
I just had an awful experience here. It was my first time ever in the store, as I am not a local and moved here a year ago. I had recently been looking for a new raincoat, when a friend recommended this store. I checked the website and saw this advertisement (see attached photo). This seemed like a good deal, on a perhaps last season item, so I decided to go in and check it out. Upon arriving in the store, I could only find one left of this item and decided to check with the desk as the tag was marked full price.I walked up to the desk where I was greeted by Rick (who seems like he is a manager of some sort). I politely asked to check the price and referenced what I had read on the website. After checking and confirming the website advertisement I was informed that it was marked wrong, but that he would be willing to honor the price as advertised. I politely stated that I appreciated him doing so.Then, while checking out the item, he proceeded to question why I searched for that particular item... I told him I had been looking for a raincoat and checked the website, saw a good deal, and decided to come in. He then finished ringing it up, did not put it in a bag or offer to do so, and said Well here you go- stay dry! in a very sarcastic tone. I awkwardly folded up the coat and began to walk away, and then he asked me if I knew some person named Brad who was in charge of putting in the prices!! I said I didnt.. and he said Okay just wondering.I felt completely judged and suspected of some sort of collusion with the employee who had made the original mistake of advertising the wrong price. I have never felt more uncomfortable!! Will not be giving this place my business ever again. Its a shame, I really like to support local businesses but do NOT enjoy being made to feel like I am some kind of person cheating the system.
Well stocked and very helpful staff. Rich, the owner, help me try on half a dozen pairs of shoes and educated me on how shoes should fit.
They always have what I need and someone to help answer questions.
Ive always found the bike techs to be extraordinarily helpful and informative. When service is required, Ive never been disappointed -- my bike is always ready for the trail.
Great store. Lots of name brand merchandise with reasonable prices. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Better selection than the big box stores (imo).
Love this place. Bushwhacker is staffed with knowledgeable and passionate outdoorsmen who use the products they sell in their everyday lives. Their product selection is outstanding, and if theres something youre looking for but they dont have it in stock, theyll order it for you. It will always be my go-to outfitter for wintertime.
Great selection, and very helpful staff
I had the best experience buying my new Liv Sedona bike. Duncan helped me to finalise my decision to buy and Bushwhacker gave me a great deal. (Better than I found at three other shops.) I also found accessories that suited my tastes. The staff stayed after closing so that I wouldnt have to pick up my bike the next day. (I live out of town) All in all, it was a great experience.
Excellent customer service, I always take my GMC Denali Road Bike here for maintenance if needed.
Great selection of outdoor wear and equipment including bicycles, kayaks, skis clothing and more. Friendly helpful staff. Great local business
Friendly staff and good mechanics. Always willing to lend a hand!
Awesome service and selection!
Best selection of top clothing brands in Peoria for outdoors use. Skis, snowboards and bikes to boot
Very knowledgeable friendly staff! We feel our bikes are in good hands here.
My wife and I went into Bushwacker not knowing a thing about bikes except they have two wheels. Abby was patience, knoweleabgle, and helped us find the perfect bikes. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for first class service with a local feel! Thanks again!
Love the knowledge of bikes and the quality and variety. Not real impressed with the timeliness of the service. Purchased a bike and was told it would be ready for pickup next afternoon. When I showed up after work the next day, it was not even started. They guy thought I could go home and come back in 2 hours. They dont understand that not everyone lives 2 blocks away! I do not live in Peoria. Then, called to set up appt for the 1-month tune-up. They wanted me to just drop it off, and theyd get to it when they could, not happening. Their scheduling is much to be desired, though they do know what they are doing when it comes to the work.
Fast Friendly and gave me a free nut😂
Good selection, but no help. You better be an expert in what your shopping for, because there is no sales associate on the floor to help you.
Good if youre looking for ski equipment and bicycles
Merch at retail price is kind of expensive, but good quality and great customer service. Sam Joslin helped me find cycling shoes, and was very informative about products, sizes, features, etc.
Staff is very helpful! Great prices and choices on zero drop shoes for plantar fasciitis.
Great selection!! Glad to see they carry plus sizes!!Very nice clerks as well!!Thank u!!
Great local business with knowledgeable staff!
Great place, great staff..
Best outdoor store in Peoria. No ski rental anymore.
Good staff, friendly, knowledgeable. Only outdoor store of its kind in the Peoria area.
Great products, better service.
Great & friendly service.
Employee knowledge is the difference between something that fits okay, and something that fits like it should..
They have everything I need, but prices are high.
Great service!
