I have always loved Thacker Ace on Crater Rd. So naturally when I was ready to purchase a home defense weapon I went to where I knew I would get the help I needed, friendly faces, helpful staff, and advice... even though the prices are higher. Shawn is the young man that works the weapons counter. He was very nice, all smiles, attentive to my needs, UNTIL after I purchased the weapon he tells me he have no ammo for the 380, but gave me a site to order online that were double the price of what Thacker sells, plus that company claimed to always be out of ammo as well.So I go back to Shawn ask if he could help me out getting the ammo I needed, sure he says, since you bought your weapon here I will call you when they come in, Its been a year, Come on now!!! and when I would visit the store for other things I would always check with him and he always would say the same thing and take my number for the 5th time.....NOW I know you never intended to get me the ammo and when I go into the store he would turn his head and walk away, just disappear. Didnt want to handle it like this..but whats a gal to do???

The store is clean and well set up. The plants outside were mostly dead, yet full price. After telling 2 associates that we didnt need assistance, the second associate literally stalked us through every single aisle, staring at us from the end of the aisle. When he got right next to me and pretended to adjust a bag of birdseed that was already situated neatly, we decided that we werent welcome and gave up looking. My husband paid for the cord repair part he wanted and we dont intend to return. The cashier was kind and sympathetic. Its a shame because Ive enjoyed other Ace stores.

I love this place. They may not be as big as Lowes or Home Depot, but theyre just as good. And in the customer service area, they might even be a bit better. There is always someone asking if you need help. You dont have to track anyone down or wait for someone. Unless its a specialized item, they usually have exactly what I need and I can find it quicker and easier. Today I even found a drill bit that they didnt have at either Lowes or Home Depot. Go figure!! The gentleman that helped me today helped in three different areas of the store for 3 different items. He didnt need to find someone else for each area. He knew it all. Great job Ace!! Ill always continue to shop at your store!

Called the Ace 800 number because I was having trouble with an online purchase...could not request the color I wanted for a particular item. The person was helpful they said they contacted someone at this store who said they could get this in and it would take a week to get it then they would call. 2 weeks no call so I called them and the store knows nothing about this nor can they guarantee me I will get the color I want but I still have to buy it first.

There is nothing worst than a Store Manager allowing his or her employees to closed the store prior to the posted time. I arrived at the store at 5:55PM the posted closing time for Saturday is 6PM. The entrance was locked with the cashier standing looking at me showing her it isnt 6PM, and she replied I already shut down the computer/cash register. Please be advise this store do not honor their posted hours. I rushed to get there before 6PM because I needed an emergency key made. Very Disappointed! Think about your customers before you allow your employees to get a head start on their Saturday night activities.

Great place to shop and good customer service

Went in to get bar and chain oil and then just wanted to look around. Within 5 minutes at least 15 people had asked what are you looking for. To say it was overwhelming and I just wanted to run out of there is an understatement! I highly recommend going anywhere else unless you like being suffocated to throw your part in your hand and shoved out the door! Not to mention they had the buffer running loudly and obnoxiously right in the middle of the store making it hard to even get around him.

I called the store asking about the sale price of a lawn mower and they told me they would match a competitors advertised price. A week later the sale ended but Home Depot still was honoring the sale price.When I call Ace and asked if they would match the price, they said no. Oh well, glad they showed their true colors before taking my money.

This is one of the more unique hardware stores still in existence. They service all lines of new products on the DIY market,but you can still get elements for electric stoves. Those nostalgic products like bee houses and 🐎 ligament. And they humans that know what you want even when you cant name it

I was helping a friend who lived nearby with a project for his grandson. We needed some replacement items, so I was informed I should check here first.The store was clean and the employees were friendly and knowledgeable. Do not hesitate to do business here...

For those who dont live near one of the big hardware centers, Thacker can be a real handy a alternative. You just need to understand that they will have a lot of parts you may need but you wont have a lot of variety in the brands offered. This can be really handy when you need to fix your sink. However it can be a liability when you want to find the best price on a weed eater. Shop accordingly

Awful service. My dad bought paint that needed to be tinted, after returning with the base paint to get the color added we were told that they were going to charge us an extra $5 dollars to tint each quart of paint. We now have 7 quart size of paint that we have no use for because they are medium base. I’m now going to Lowe’s to get my paint to complete my project. I will never shop at ace again

Great place to get the hard to find items; knowledgeable customer service is outstanding. The store is always well organized. The plumbing area offers flexible vinyl tubing, PVC, CPVC, PEX and fittings. The hardware section is easy to shop and there is someone always willing to help. The hand tool and power tool selection features Craftsman brand. Check with the staff on items you dont see as they may be stored in the back.
