Great Place If Your Into Model Trains, Out Of This World Selection Of Items!

This place is one of the last remaining Hobby shops I can find. They have so much stuff to choose from weather it be for for rc cars, models, puzzles, train enthusiasts, model cars, miniature models or painting. the staff there is friendly and always willing to take the necessary time to help a customer out with any questions or to talk, but they seem to be understaffed at times which seems to be only a minor issue. I went in one day to look around, and now i make the drive to come out here for all my hobby needs.

First time in the shop today. Incredibly helpful willing to spend time figuring out exactly what you need not overselling. Tons of selection will definitely turn you back.

Not the best hobby shop for several reasons. First, the sign has decayed significantly, I remember when it actually had an image of the Hiawatha train and the store was neat and tidy; now its become quite messy and unorganized. Pricing for products are a bit high compared to other hobby shops in the area, or cheaper to purchase online. Staff is not very helpful at all. Some employees clearly show no interest in the store, and when asking a simple question and for help as a novice, I was turned away and told that the item was defective without even bothering to look at it or listening to questions/concerns nor explaining why it was broken. Extremely disappointing, with similar experiences happening to other individuals, youd think that given the condition of the store they would want to encourage all potential customers to both the shop and the hobby.

I just wasnt happy with an item I ordered online. Had to call for a RMA, but the store representative was very friendly and understanding. I cant recall the last time a return went so smoothly.And the fact that PayPal picked up the cost of the return shipping was a bonus.

The selection for models is very large, you can find pretty much anything you need in the store for HO scale, paints, trains, track, scenery, tools, you name it! If you are a starting modeler or an experienced one, I would recommend visiting Hiawatha Hobbies.

If youre looking for model trains and their accompanying bits, this place is a gold mine. Apart from that, the selection is pretty sparse.Theres an assortment of parts for RC cars, boosters and kits for rockets, slot cars, and puzzles, but theyre all poorly organized and limited in their selection.The staff is friendly and helpful, so youll be sure to find whatever train equipment you need in an efficient manner, but Id suggest other locations for more varied hobbies.

Bought a Digitrax Power Supply opened it up and could tell right away was a used product, the cables had scratches where they was used and the unit had dust on it like it was setting on a desk, I send an email and they respond telling me that theres no way it could be used they come straight from Digitrax, if you want a refund let us know well email you a return shipping label, a month later still no return shipping label!!! also I got to looking in the box and I found a receipt from where another customer had bought this same power supply back in Jan of 2000 and had returned it so YES THIS WAS A USED POWER SUPPLY!!! I will get a refund!!!!

I had a great experience shopping @ Hiawatha Hobbies. My son and I are building our first train layout and had lots of questions. They provided lots of great advice and ideas. I was very satisfied with my shopping experience and would gladly recommend this store to others.

Quite incompetent when it comes to fulfilling orders. I was sent the wrong engine number, asked to exchanged it, they responded once asking what model numbers I received. That was it. You’ll find more intelligence elsewhere.

Just recently moved to Wisconsin, this was one first stores that I went to because of the reviews. There is a woman that works there and you can tell she hates her job. Upon entering you say, Hello and get no response back rude I think. When I was leaving I said I was ready to check out, she heard me and we made eye contact, and she kept texting on her phone. I waited a few minutes until the boy walked by and was able to help me check out. The store is great, all the supplies that I needed. So if you want an A+ experience dont go when shes working. Dont bring the owners business down just because you want to be lazy, if you dont want to work stay home.

Been buying supplies here for years and prices are fair. Glen is extremely knowledgeable and helps find oddball stuff that I need from time to time. They have all the latest planes from Horizon and ordering parts is a breeze and same prices as amazon minus any shipping fees. I cant speak for the Train stuff as that isnt my thing but I always have a positive experience with the RC stuff. Hope this place is around for a long time........

Above and beyond. It’s a beautiful day out, needed a propeller, stopped in the store on the way to the flying field. The gentleman took well over 20 minutes searching the store for the correct prop. Most places would ha live said they couldn’t help. After a long search, the gentlemen did the ultimate: he took a prop from one of the store planes (and reordered a new one), and sent us to the field ready to fly! T H A N K Y O U ! This is why we support our local hobby shop!

A hobby store HEAVY into model railroading. Over half the store dedicated to it. There is a bunch of other hobbies represented, but not to the scale of training. And there is a LOT of product jam packed into a little store. But it is a great stop for a hobbyist. Staff is, as before mentioned, very knowledgeable. Prices could be a bit more competitive, and Im especially gonna ding em for that one since theres other cheaper options around. Still, overall a great store.

Anything you want for hobbies...this is the place. My husband used to buy his models (he cant anymore due to disabilities) here. Ive taken my Grandgirls and nephew here. Its like a toy store for them. Handmade gives children a sense of pride.

Ive come every now and again to this store in the many years they have been here. They have always been well stocked and you can usually find something for just about any of the common hobbies. They are best known for model trains, and its obviously their specialty. But lesser known is that they have a good selection of model kits, slot cars and general hobby tools. And I just stopped there yesterday to discover that they have really upped their game in Radio Control, especially cars and trucks. If you are looking for Traxxas parts, or pretty much any of the major RTR vehicles (Axial, Arrma, Associated, Traxxas, etc.)- they probably have it- and have it at a better price than what you can get online or anywhere else. People say it is messy- but its not. Its just completely stocked to the gills. If this is how they keep their overhead low, Im all for it.

Lots of stuff, great selection.....however, every time Ive gone in Ive had to wade through stacks of boxes e everywhere. Annoying and quite simply unprofessional. Maybe do your online sales business in the back room or a different location. No one wants to deal with your mess while trying to shop.

My experience at this hobby shop has been very good. They stock lots of great stuff and have a spare parts for mot items. If they dont have it they order and my experience has been arrival in just a two days on all my special orders. I purchased a RC battery pack and it would not charge when I got it home so I return it and it was exchanged on the spot, no questions asked.

I havent been here in years and i walked in 2day and its just how i remember it great service and a great selection, if they dont have it then they will find just what you are looking for. I will for sure continue going here

Good place for model trains

Why do people shop at the store when the manager is a rude person. His policy is if you open the product and it dont work pretty much says too bad he will not take it back . If I open $125 RC motor and it dont work you better take it back hes never backs up his product take your business and money somewhere else where someone would respect you on what you buy. I spent hundreds of dollars on RC stuff and I would never spend a penny on this guy ever .

Very helpful staff. Lots of product. Went there to get rail joiners for my sons train set and a coupler for a passenger car with broken and non connecting ones, that we got at a swap meet that he just had to have. Didnt know what I needed but brought in the new car and one of the ones from the set along with the joiner piece and they found everything I needed to convert the car and connect the tracks. Will use them again in the future.

The website showed items in Stock but I called to confirm. They said it was. I drove 1.5 hours and none of it was in Stock. The items I needed were to complete a Christmas gift. I drove there on Christmas eve as this place was the only one I found that said they had parts I needed... very disappointed

Overall, not bad. I like seeing hobby shops, with large selections of trains and I would expect it when the store is named after a train. Best selection of trains Ive seen that wasnt at a train store. Even though there were lots of trains I didnt find much scale o gauge trains. There was very little mth compared to atlas and Lionel and a lot of the prices were at msrp. Also, very few engines.

The staff is very friendly and has everything you could ever need from trains to dollhouses, diecast and model car/truck kits, radio control car, along very good selection of paints. That is my first place to go for Hobbies other than The new Hobby Lobby in Waukesha.

Left my car in for a once over and they told me it was never going to work... I flipped a few wires and then voila it worked. For waiting 3 weeks it was not worth it. 1: they never called me to tell me it was ready I had to call MANY times, and 2: it was supposed to be done in 2 days.

We shop there for all our rc needs (and crash parts) and they never let us down. I belong to a flying club call ABC RC Fliers, and thats why we bring our business there, because of how they do it.
