Beware of price gouging and fraud from this company. I contacted them to check on damage to my Rianni Water Heater after the Feb 2021 storm in Austin. Beck said my appointment was confirmed Feb 23 and I returned their estimate as approved. The estimate was based just on what I had described over the phone and photos that I sent. They gave the estimate without actually going to inspect the damage. The morning of the appointment, the owner K.R. Slayer, called and said he would not send a work crew to my house until the estimate of 7,437.93 was paid in advance. I told him that I had never received an invoice, only the estimate for approval which I had returned. I asked how he could expect full payment in advance before he even went to my house to inspect the damage. He became angry and sounded threatening, saying no work would be done until it was paid in full in advance! I was not interested in using a plumber with bullying behavior, and who expected to be paid before inspecting the damage.I contacted another plumbing contractor in Austin who is well known and highly rated, and they agreed to do the repairs. Their charge was less than a third of what K. R. Slayer had quoted without inspecting the site.I reported this price gouging to Rianni Corp office as well as the Texas Attorney Generals Office. ATWH appears to be dishonest and unprofessional and they are taking advantage of people who have suffered damages from a natural disaster. I would never use ATWH.

These guys are HEROES getting the Austin community back on its feet following the unprecedented cold wave that left so many homes with broken water heaters. The service has far exceeded my expectations, with a very reasonable price considering the extreme demand. Tony Russ was my installation technician and Ive rarely met such a dedicated service person. And everyone else Ive spoken to, from K.R. the owner to Anita (I think?) the receptionist, has been most courteous and helpful. More details about my experience below:After noticing that our water heaters started leaking after the pipes in our attic thawed, I called a few service companies and TWH were the first -and only ones- to reply. I quickly got on the phone with K.R. who had all the answers I needed, and I had an estimate within 15 minutes on the phone. I did a bit of research and found that the estimate was very fair and I was getting a better replacement Rinnai tankless unit for my busted pair of Rheem heaters. By end of day Wednesday I had approved the estimate, all online and a super easy process, and I was scheduled for Friday! At that point I didnt even think I was going to get a hold of anyone before at least two weeks - if not more.Because of the icy conditions remaining on Friday, it ended up being pushed to Saturday afternoon, I was told I was the last job for the day.6pm came, no one yet. 7pm, at that point I thought they were not gonna show up anymore. But shortly after that I get a message that Tony was on his way! I had given up hope, but he finally showed up with his apprentice, and even his wife who driving alongside them to help out. They worked through the evening and night, doing everything carefully and properly, and by midnight I had hot water in my house! They took special care to be as quiet as possible since my kids were already in bed, and everything looked pristine when they left. I told them then, but I want to say it again here, that I was so thankful and impressed at how dedicated and nice everyone was. And I didnt pay a single dollar over what was in the estimate, even with the extended hours.TWH is one of these local companies taking pride in serving their community, not trying to fill a shareholders pockets. I commend them for stepping up to the plate following this natural disaster -being affected themselves- showing integrity rather than greed. They will have my business from now on for any future water heating service/repair needs.

Texas Water Heaters replaced our old gas water heater with a new electric one today, also adding an expansion tank because we have a pressure regulator on the system. They also replaced our residential cutoff. They arrived on time and went right to work. Tony and Aaron were very pleasant and knowledgable and when they left, the new water heater was shining out from a sparkling, clean space. The office was easy to work with and we recommend Texas Heaters, they are the silver lining in a situation where you need to replace your heater.

Do your diligence, and trust in these experts -Journeyman Tony came out with his apprentices Patrick and Aaron. My install was for a typical 1 story, 40 gal gas water heater. Let me tell you, these are the guys you WANT walking up your driveway.I have been on both sides of the handyman equation, both as customer and service provider. When I let Tony in to assess the old water heater removal, and how theyd do the installation of the new one, I could see his brain start clicking. He assessed all hurdles ahead of starting the work, and involved me in the discussion when new problems arose. When problems arose during the install he handled them instinctively. There was still cross training happening between Tony and his apprentices. Tony taught all the small details of both the install itself, as well as customer satisfaction (no tools on the countertops, etc.). As someone who was shopping for both price and quality, Texas Heaters is a great team to bet your money on.Now, ADVICE: This is unrelated to Texas Heaters and just broad advice for anyone getting a water tank installed.- This isnt a clean operation, so save yourself from a dirty carpet and get old bed sheets or painters drop cloths laid down ahead of time.- On older homes (mine was 70s) with outdated fittings, there may be a gas pressure test required. If that comes about, the scope of work drastically changes. Ask about it within the first 10 mins of the meeting.- For water heaters with no drain line, there is a +$400-600 shutoff sensor thats required for the drain pan. I called three companies for quotes, and only Lynn had the foresight to ask about the draining situation. Texas Heater quotes may be higher than other like-sized companies; but make sure youre comparing apples-to-apples.- Budget +$300-500 for permits. They may not be required given your situation, but City of Austin loves its building codes. Texas Heaters doesnt profit off permits.

We had a catastrophic failure of our conventional water heater in our attic. So I called Texas Water Heaters. I explained the situation and they rearranged their schedule to have a tank-less water heater installed the next day. Communication was awesome. They kept me apprised of their efforts to reschedule and confirmed that theyd be able to install the next day. They said theyd call 20-30 min before arrival (which they did.) They also said itd take all day, but once the guy got there, he estimated itd be done by lunch time. At 12:15, we had a replacement water heater in our house. The installer was very knowledgeable, courteous and efficient. They respected our floors by wearing plastic boots over their shoes and also putting down drop cloths from the door, up the stairs, to our second-floor attic access ladder. Very impressed with this company and their service. Would recommend.

Great installation and regular service each year, where the company reaches out proactively. Only complaint is occasionally the hot water will stop if the shower head is becoming clogged, so you should do regular maintenance to clear out hard water depoits.

When deciding what type water heater to install, provided great info on types, costs, and benefits. Kept in touch during ordering, scheduling, and install. Great installation team - completed without issue, left area clean, and told us to call anytime if issues arose (they have not). And, registered the water heater warranty for us. Good from start to finish.

We are in the process if selling our home and replacing the water heater was part of our contract. Needless to say, I was rather reluctant since we have never had an issue with our hot water or water pressure. After calling around to a few different companies, I decided to go with Texas Water Heaters. Their prices were fair, where other companies seemed to overcharge. They gave me a quote over the phone, which larger, more commercially known companies refused to do as part of their more aggressive sales tactics.I wish I remembered their names, but the technicians were great. They explained their process, asked if I had any questions and were done in about an hour.My only complaint is that they mistakenly let my pup out of the house, which is more my fault than theirs. But they quickly found her and brought her back home. So if you have pets, maybe keep them in the garage or a kennel while they work.I will definitely be using this company for all my future plumbing needs once we are settled into our new home.

Was impressed with the reviews I read online, so called them and asked for someone to arrange a quote for an attic water heater replacement. Was told I would receive a call to arrange. No call received. Followed up a few days later and re-requested someone come out and quote. Again promised someone would call...again no call. Dont appreciate my time being wasted...if youre not interested...just say so. Will not do business with this bunch. If a potential customer is treated so disrespectfully, I can only imagine the work will be equally disappointing. My two cents.

UPDATE: I got a threatening letter from an attorney representing Texas Water Heaters saying my review here was unfair and that I must update it or face legal action. If youre on Google Reviews, then youre probably a fan of the First Amendment of the Constitution of The United States of America. Salyer and Texas Water Heaters apparently does not believe in free speech...unless they agree with it.Do you really want to give your money to this business?Original review:Texas Heaters has no records of the final inspection for my water heater installation I requested with the City of Austin for April 10, 2009. I immediately rescheduled this inspection for July 3, 2009 after it was cancelled at the last minute by Texas Heaters.Texas Heaters notified me the Monday before July 3, 2009 that July 3 is a city holiday (Independence Day). Texas Heaters failed looked at a list of scheduled city holiday closings at any point in the three months from when I scheduled the appointment to when the holiday actually occurred. The owner’s (K.R. Salyer) response to this was “we cannot control the city.” Texas Heaters has repeatedly refused to acknowledge they failed to look at the City of Austin’s list of scheduled holiday closings.Given this failure in due diligence, I asked Salyer to bring a printed checklist of what the city would look at when conducting the final inspection. Salyer failed to bring this requested checklist, claiming he “has the checklist in his head.”The building code had changed since the job was first done, requiring rework. Had I not requested Salyer to review the work that had been done to ensure it would pass final inspection, it would have definitely failed inspection. Texas Heaters failed to keep up with what jobs were outstanding that would be affected by requirement changes that occur from year to year. Now that I had little confidence in how Salyer was managing this project, I asked for a written statement that Texas Heaters would actually show up to finish the job Texas Heaters I had paid to do; Salyer interrupted me every time I attempted to bring this up, quickly invoking the fact that the city will shut off my utilities if this open building permit expires. After my repeated attempts to get something in writing from Salyer to get some acknowledgement of accountability for the problems I was experiencing with Texas Heaters, Salyer threatened to walk off the job and let the open building permit expire. Now I had effectively paid Salyer thousands of dollars to bully me in addition to poorly manage this project.I failed to withhold a portion of the payment until the final inspection was complete; something I will most certainly do with any contractor I hire in the future.Anyone considering hiring Texas Heaters should take heed that when problems arise to the customer’s dissatisfaction, Texas Heaters will not hesitate to threaten to walk off the job and leave the customer without utilities. If Texas Heaters is as competent and trustworthy as Salyer claims, providing anything in writing should not be a problem. Threatening a customer with walking off the job and leaving them without water, electricity and gas is a sign of a poorly operated business that does not have any respect for its customers.Texas Heaters will quickly claim they “cannot control the city” when problems arise, but you can control who you hire. Hire a plumber who is accountable, keeps good records, provides customer with requested written information, and plans ahead.
