Very knowledgeable sales people polite and courteous.Great selection of guns ammo and bows arrows rods n reels.A great place to shop, visit and shoot! π«
The location is convenient and they have a pretty good stock given their not a big box store. The next set of statements are specifically regarding the gun range because that is where the majority of my experience has been. Most of the staff seem pretty knowledgeable. Unfortunately, some of them really want you to know just how knowledgeable they are and they do so at the expense of friendly education. Instead some of their associates make customers feel like they are asking questions they should already be able to answer. This is not a good place for a first time gun owner or even a novice shooter. They are good about enforcing the rules of the gun range, but they do so in a demeaning or condescending way. I have been to other gun ranges just as serious about the rules, but they are enforced with respect and politely. Of course this not the case for every one of their associates, but this has been my experience several times. Based on conversations with others who have patronized their business, my experience is not unique. The prices are about average, if not a little above. One hour of range time was $15 at the time of this post. Truthfully, if there were another range within 15 minutes that charged even a bit more but treated customers like the VIPs they are I would never go back to French Creek Outfitters. I recommend them only for convenience, not customer service or value.
Customer service was great! Knowledgeable and helpful. The only downside is they didnβt have a wide selection (maybe it was a bad time to go) and we were referred to purchasing our bows and handgun holsters online.
Good selection of guns with an emphasis on hunting and target shooting rather than tactical or self defense. Staff is nice. They have a range indoors, its not as modern as other local ranges but the staff is polite and helpful
Thank you to French Creek for supporting our Kayak-Anglers fishing Tournament group. I won a gift certificate from them for Largest Bass caught in a tournament in May (Fish pictured). I waited for a holiday sale to visit the shop to cash in on my prize. The shop was very well stocked and the staff were very knowledgeable. I shopped for a new fishing setup for a few hours with help from Joe in the fishing department who was extremely knowledgeable. I returned a day or so later and met Fred who was also a big help. I left there with my first bait-caster rod setup and plenty of knowledge how to use it. Thank you again for supporting our group, it really goes a long way. I now have a new fishing supply store worth driving a few more miles to get to.
Friendly knowledgeable staff and have something for everyone, adults and kids. The range is nice and convenient. Highly recommended A+
Just bought a new bow the staff is amazing and very knowledgeable. Helped me set up my new bow and gave me some new shooting pointers what more to say excellent staff and amazing atmosphere there.
As a woman I was a bit nervous when I first started going to French Creek to learn how to shoot because I didnt know what to expect. Everyone was very nice and helpful without being condescending or intimidating. Whether youre interested in a firearm, supplies or just want to look around or ask questions and learn about shooting etc. I highly recommend French Creek Outfitters. Everyone there is great. Ive been shooting there for several years now and always have a good time and positive experiences.
Great outdoors shop with an indoor shooting range and archery range. Helpful staff and a good selection of hunting, fishing, archery and gun equipment. Definitely a place to go if you live close. The archery range is very laid back and a lot of fun. They have bows for rent.
One of my favorite gun shops in the area. Besides all the newer guns, they always have a very nice selection of old guns at great prices. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable and I love their layaway program.
Had a real bad experience today via 3 phone calls which the man answering the phone refused to leave his phone and walk to the shelf to see of they stocked trapping wax. he also refused to give me the manager. he was very rude and lazy in my opinion. now instead of giving my money to a local business I will be going to cabelas to buy it. hey French creek outfitters, you may want to consider hiring hardworking employees in the future.
Love this place. Have been going for 20+ years. They have firearms, archery, camping, hiking, fishing. Indoor firing range. Paintball guns and supplies, clothes, boots. You can also get your fishing license here
Friendly and helpful staff throughout the store and range. Nice assortment of shooting, hunting and outdoor gear. Pistol range has good target control and lanes. Air quality in the range was fair and a bit more filtration or fresh air brought in would help.
Love this place. Its ashame it is closing as there are not many places that had such an assortment of quality out sporting stuff around. Next closest place around with a collection of stuff is Cabelas in Hamburg but it doesnt have the family feel of this place and is about an hour away from here.
Great store and gun shop and gun range. Good selection of high end camping and fishing gear
Ive been here a few times and I really like the place, its a diamond in the rough! Great selection of products and the gun selection is great too! We have a silencer on order from them and cant wait to get it! Plus all the guys working there are awesome! Such good customer service and a wealth of knowledge from all of them!
Love French Creek For all my gun needs. Nice on site range with a large selection of good reliable hand guns. I did shop for other outdoor camping equipment but could find cheaper elsewhere
Large selection and very good quality. We have shopped for hiking boots, and used the indoor archery range. Nice facility, will be trying out the shooting range soon and maybe take a gun class there.
Very happy with my experience here, they were extremely polite and professional. The people helped us through a firearm purchase, gave great advice and worked with us whenever we had an issue with the gun. Highly recommend this place to anyone.
I had seen the specific winter gloves I wanted here this past summer but when I went to get them now, my size was not in stock. The awesome lady who helped me shared the story of the tribulations of the company who makes them, that she could not order any more then looked up model so I could try to order them online. With service like that I had to purchase a few other things; gladly spending more than I had planned.
Very good environment and the staff at the shooting range were great. The gentleman was very knowledgeable and he helped me with everything and made sure I was comfortable before I got on the range. I would recomend them to anyone who is looking for a great indoor range and is a novice shooter.
Couldnt of been happier with my bow buying experience at French Creek. I purchased a Hoyt Ignite bow for my 15 year old sons birthday. The archery staff was very helpful and spent over an hour getting the bow set-up perfectly for my son. They also gave some great instruction to get him going. We are planning on signing up for lessons but, hes already shooting like a pro in the backyard! Thanks for all the help!Geoff
Our first time here, we dont live too far away and saw it come up on a search or something so we figured wed make a trip out and see what it was all about, especially since fly fishing is a regular nice weather activity for us, along with camping. Pretty nice outdoor shop. Everything youd need for hunting, camping, fishing and more. Lots of merchandise, friendly staff, plenty of parking, easily found on GPS.
Cool store. Well stocked. Good selection of firearms and optics. Prices seem pretty reasonable. Definitely check it out.
I had a great experience shopping here! I was looking for a hard to find pistol and the management went out of their way to make sure I got what I was looking for. They are fast, their prices are good, their selection is great, and their customer service is superb!
Amazing customer service skills. Anyone working is willing to answer your questions, give you insight on the product youre looking to buy, or help with the next adventure youre planning. I cannot say enough good things about this place, especially after this past Christmas season. Thank you to the kayak department for making it one memorable holiday!!!
The only place that has an indoor gun range. The men that work here act as if their dog died before their shift started. Some smiles and a good attitude can go a long way. The ladies that work the check out area are always a pleasure. The guns are priced around 50-100$ more than the competition depending on what you want. They also have indoor archery. Eyes and ears can be rented as well as used handguns and a few long guns. Ammo can be bought from here as well just at a premium.
In one word, FANTASTIC. I went to research a fishing kayak, and the salesmen Wes can not have been more helpful. He spent about two hours with my daughter and I answering every questions. I was considering either a Hobie or Wilderness kayak and Wes suggested the Jackson. Since it was not in stock I had to wait, but it was worth the wait. I love it. When I picked the item up Wes was there to help explain the features and answer any questions. I used to be a Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas shopper, but I have to say after the experience I had at French Creek, I will go there first. Nice people, good selection, well worth the drive.
Permanently closed and doesnβt say it on google maps. Just put in the request to have it listed as permanently closed. Donβt bother making the drive out like I did.
Well run range, and reasonably priced. Discharged a box of 9mm rounds at targets with my mate Jessie. These folks made the process easy, and they were not unreasonable when dipping into my wallet. But most importantly I saw no weapon handling errors around the range. It was watched and I have no doubt that had someone been inexperienced, flaky or just plain drunk the situation would have been taken care of expeditiously, professionally and without a mess. They have well cared for travelling targets, good noise control and rentals. And great folks: both customers and associates . Nice people, common sense and semi automatic weapons just as God intended.
The archery dept. Is spot on. staff is great, I wasnt pushed into buying anything. I visited the place several times in the past two years with some dinosaur equipment n was treated with respect. I just purchased a bow n price was right. will be purchasing two more this month. very informative n friendly.
One of the few local stores to get fishing/hunting gear. Prices can be up there, but not too bad. Never had a problem here. People are very helpful and friendly.
Sent 4 messages on their page Contact Us with questions on purchasing a certain gun. Havent gotten one reply back. Just about every gun store website has an online gun purchase tab with lists and lists of guns with prices, this site has one single rifle listed. Would like to see if they are worth the trip to look at stock but with no replies back I guess they are not interested in new business.
Rude workers but everything else is great. Shame it went away
I was looking for a new digital lock for my browning gun safe. I called them because they sell browning gun safes. When i called the guy on the phone didnt know much about the safes but when the owner came in he would have him give me a call. Surprisingly i got a call from the owner and he said that they did not sell just the replacement locks but he gave me the number of who to call at browning and where to find my safe model # and was even willing to come out and help with installation once i got the lock even though i was out of their servicing area. Thought that was really nice of them to help even though they got nothing back but a happy customer, i didnt even buy the safe there originally.
Both staff, & store were exceptional. Had a great time on the indoor archery range! Walked out with a pair of boots in a 15, which is really tough to find just about anywhere. Made my day, thank you!
Great customer service as always. Owner is always accessible to help out with any issues. Love the feel of not being a corporate chain. New kayaks and paddle boards are great addition to store.
The store employee that I have unfortunately had to deal with on several occasions at the gun counter/ firing range has been anything except helpful or pleasant to work with. Not only was he speaking down to me, but I witnessed him speaking down to other employees as well. I am a firearms instructor, however this particular employee found it necessary to cut in front of me in the middle of a lesson and try to teach my student his way to shoot. I informed him of that he was interfering with instruction and he stated that he would charge me another fee for teaching at their range. I bought ammo at the store and paid for way more range time than needed, but they are going to treat someone with that level of disrespect!? There are plenty of other gun shops around that are not as high priced with better customer service and facilities.
Love this place!!! I bought a Mathews Z3 here and the guys behind the counter were extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend this place
Nice smaller, and local alternative to Cabelas. Lots of shooting and archery supplies, and even an indoor range.
The employees are always there to give solid advice and are quick to find other workers who know the answers to your questions if need be.
Great selection, OK range, accessibility and closeness is the only reason I deal with this store. Most guys that I have interacted with in the gun department are short and rude when either answering a phone call with me or inquiring about a gun on display. If Im inquiring about a gun in the store, its because Im interested in buying or becoming more knowledgeable on your products.Dont act like Im wasting your time because Im in my 20s.A sale is a sale.I own 2 guns now and the only reason I have not bought from this store is because of their high prices and terrible gun department customer service. The range guys have been nice. The range is well ventilated, but needs to be engineered for less echo (some easy sound paneling would fix a lot of it.)Also, get better range lights....everywhere.I dont want to shoot a target with 3 different shadows on it because you cant put in 5 more lights in the range. If I did, I would practice on my own property.Go to Claytons. For the most part its better all around service and the range is way nicer and more useable.
My Daughter and I went to use the shooting range. Everyone was friendly from the time we walked in the door and headed back to where the shooting range was located. All the guys working at the shooting range were friendly and extremely helpful. They checked back with us from time to time to make sure our experience there was fantastic and they helped us to learn the proper technique and safety that goes with the firing of a handgun. I will definitely be back.
I went there for beginner archery lessons and it was fantastic! A history lesson and overview of the bow was given. The instructor Mike was awesome. I plan to go back for more practice. The two other front desk people for archery were also very nice and informative. I didnt get their names unfortunately. Despite the bad reviews for other sections of the store, it seems that their archery department is the place to be.
From hunting to fishing. Archery, shooting. Range time. Kayaks. FCO is the best shop for 50 miles. Maybe 100.
Knowledgeable staff that is willing to work with you to get what you need. I have had good experiences with the shoe, hiking and firearms departments. The onsite range is a little small and loud, but totally usable. They also have a bow range, though I havent used it yet.
My local gun shop with great indoor pistol range great service reasonable prices
I must say I have not experienced any of the negative remarks found below in regards to the archery department. I have been treated great by every one of the guys in the archery department. Each one of them has taken time out to help me with my issues and correcting my bow as well as my form. I attribute this to the fact that they all seem like enthusiasts and enjoy dialing in a bow. They have awesome equipment to work on your equipment as well. 5 stars from an out of towner who has frequented several bow shops throughout the country.
My husband and I came for kayaks and we had a great experience! Wes was very knowledgeable about the kayaks and answered all of our questions. He was thorough when he showed us all the ins and outs of our purchase.
Always a pleasant experience when visiting the shop or just the range, however just learned that the entire store is closing at the end of the year, keep your eyes open for clearance sales. The store and staff will be missed.
Gun range is safe, staff is well informed and educated! The have a great variety of guns, ammo and equipment. I have a good time everytime I go!
Im 20 years old and the staff there always look at me and question me why I want certain firearms and why Id want to look at them. Never give me the time of day, the skinny guy is nice and the really old guy is nice, but everyone else are judgemental and could care less about sales. And none of them are up to date on the AR-15s that theyre selling and couldnt find info on anything they were selling besides what was on the sticker. I dont get why they think that every young person is homicidal and do illegal things, thats such a small percentage. I deserve the same respect they give to older people. But other then the workers they have a good selection of everything and the store is maintained.
This is a great miniature Cabelas. Large selection of firearms, brand name clothing, and a 50yd indoor range. The employees are knowledgeable and dont beat around the bush. If you get the chance, GO!
I have intermittently visited French Creek since their days at North Coventry. Not once have they asked for assistance or a greeting (this only pertaining to the gun dept). They seem to only hire guys with rude and condescending attitudes. I suppose the employer doesnt care that this department is incredibly detrimental to their business; because this has been consistent for many many years. Hence, I only visit to jot down item information and order online.
Greatest outdoor store. Very helpful staff, prices sometimes expensive, but itβs worth the price.
Love going here. Very knowledgeable staff and great selection of hunting and archery equipment
Local and family owned. Not like big corporate amerikan stores. Good selection. Guns a bit on the pricey end. Nice staff.
Fun outdoor store with real outdoorsmen
Convenient indoor pistol range and bow range - fairly well equipped. They even rent guns. The staff could be a bit more helpful, but its par for the type of store this is.
Had a great experience at one of their pistol classes. Will take another class in the future. Also looking forward to Ladies night and target practice.
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Not intimidating like other outdoors/gun shops
This store is amazing! Had a great time shopping. I would come back any time.
This place is a large outdoor sporting goods store with a large selection. You arent going to get the quantity of a Cabelas or Bass Pro shops but its probably the next best thing. Youll certainly have more to choose from here than at a place like Dicks sporting goods. Everything from firearms, bows, and crossbows to fishing supplies and kayaks can be found here. I was just here a couple days ago and got some quality recommendations for bass lures. The sales clerk spent over ten minutes with me and you could tell he not only knew what he was tasked with selling but that he truly loved the sport of fishing. Great experience!
Overall if this is your local store, not bad.Pros: inside gun range, decent selection.Cons: I came for camping equipment, very small selection ;( one hour drive, would not do again.
A very nice place to get any outdoor equipment. Sells rifles, shotguns, pistols, and all kinds of bows. There are three ranges for pistols, crossbows, and recurve/compound bows.
My boyfriend and I took the Intro to handgun class with instructor Dave Chang who was very professional and extremely informative. We have agreed on going back to expand our firearms knowledge and spend some more time in the range. Thank you Dave, Instructor Jackie and Instructor Kyle!
Never in my life have I had such bad service not only are the employees rude but they have a know it all complex, over priced and under stocked. The indoor range is so poorly maintained they have 10 lanes but every time Ive been there 3 or more Lanes are broken at the price they charge to use them youd think they would keep up with the brake downs. Overall very unsatisfied customer.
Same top notch service and gear as always. I come here a few times per year for fishing gear and always enjoy the experience.
Excellent selection of sporting equipment. Firearms are overpriced. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
I live close by and shop there frequently. The service has always been top notch and their prices are very good. Their sales people in all departments are knowledgeable and helpful.
Awesome store for hunting and fishing enthusiasts. Nice shopping at family owned business.
Great place. They had everything I needed. Very helpful people!
Excellent!! Clean friendly local shop it was worth the drive from Baltimore. George was very knowledgeable about kayaking and I shopped everywhere and finally purchased the bonafide ss127 and i love it thanks to French Creek outfitters!!!
I go there for the archery range. Decent place. The guys in the back at the archery counter are very rude. They is a younger man whos name is James, if you go, ask for him. Hes great. The older men act like know it all me and judge your every purchase making you feel dumb. I recommend it for the products, but dont except to much customer service.Ps. They did a half ass job fixing the kisser button on my compound bow (the easiest fix ever) while they fixed the button they messed up my peep sight and wouldnt fix it.
Cant stand these people. Its always a hassle to ask a question and theyll treat you like dirt no matter how much money your going to spend on their overpriced crap. Make a smart move and order your outdoor products online or any other store for that matter. People who work it customer service and havent figured out that customers are what pay your bills do not deserve to be in business.
Awesome service. In and out quickly and prices were great.
The staff was friendly and professional and the store selection was phenomenal. Would definitely shop there again.
Always had a good experiences with French Creek, my favorite sporting goods store.
Walked into store open carrying. Was asked to cover my sidearm up. Since the store carried more then just firearms I could offend other customers. Make note that all their firearms are on clear display. I havent been in the store since. Cant see patronizing a gun store where I have to hide my legal carry firearm.
Got a lecture about how i shouldnt buy a 1911 from someone behind the counter. Went and bought a 1911 at the gun show the next day...The range guys are nice though!
Purchased a Springfield XD here last year. Prices are a bit steep for both firearms and ammo. Selection is massive. Everyone in the store that I encountered is very friendly and willing to help. The range here is pretty nice. Very well ventilated, but is freezing cold in the winter and blazing hot in the summer.
Good people... They dont stock parts for guns... Very few guns in stock...
If you want to be treated like garbage then run to the archery counter after you spent $1,200 on compound bow, sight, stabilizers and release two weeks before, and ask a perfectly reasonable question. Hey, ask if they will help you paper tune your bow! Same guy who sold me when my bow a gum chewing old dudewith bad teeth with his arms crossed over his barrel gut just said, no, walk back tune your bow and walked away.An old guy behind the counter with him wouldnt even look up at me when I re-asked the same question. Listen to Nick. Pay for a lane upstairs. They have a paper tuning roll on the lane RIGHT BEHIND THE COUNTER!Lazy, arrogant etc.
An assortment of goods for camping, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor activities.
Closing down! So sad to see you go.
Knowledgeable guys behind the gun counter. Prices are good.
When you need hunting and fishing gear today, like now, head here. They have a great selection of all the gear you need.
Shooting range staff is great. Funny and informative.
Well run & clean range. A tad cool in the winter.
Range is always packed with no waiting area. So you stand around with your gear getting in the way of shoppers and employees
I think their gun prices are reasonable. Their prices on 22LR are among the cheapest around. Always stock up on those when I am there. They definitely need to update their gun range. Looks and feels outdated.
Always a great place to go for hunting and fishing gear.
While shooting in the indoor range a buddy who ran late to shoot with us went to come in to shoot. As the staff didnt notice him at the front desk they insulted and talked degrading me and my uncle. They were VERY condesending after spending money and being a costumer WE DO NOT DESREVE TO BE TALKED RUDELY ABOUT WHEN WE SHOW NOTHING BUT MANNERS AND RESPECT. Very disrespectful. We did end up talking to them after as they had nothing to say in shock as they did not know who was with us. We will never return here again and will try to steer anyone away from their over priced items.
Easy to use facility friendly staff, wish ventilation in range was better
Good range, good choice of rentals, convenient and generally has some good deals on sporting goods if you prefer to shop at a local storefront to touch and feel your gear before your purchase.
Allways a helpful associate there for your questions, fishing supplies, paintball, camping and hunting gear all in one.
This place used to be decent, cant say it was ever my go to but they have a large selection so I would often stop in. My last visit was just that....my last. After waiting for 25-30 minutes to buy some ammunition I gave up. The salesman in the firearms dept. did not even bother to take a minute from his task to help us. Instead we exchanged a series uncomfortable of eye contact that ended before I could initiate a conversation to get help. It was clear that he had better things to do and it was my job to wait on his time. When he finally made 30 seconds of time available he fed me some BS that a new government regulation would limit me to 1 single box of ammunition per 24hrs....walked out with nothing but a sense of regret I wont get that 30 minutes of my life back.
Very nice and smart gun stuff. Just wish they had a larger handgun selection and the prices were a little more competitive.
As always, good and knowledge service at the counter and the range.
