My rating might change as I think things over.We recently purchased a ball python here and, as very obvious first timers, we asked what we needed. I even brought in everything I already owned from my recently-deceased bearded dragon so that I could get the green light from the employees that all was good. After getting home, talking to a few people and showing pictures, it came to my attention that I was A) Charged waaaay more for the morph of the python and B) was poorly equipped and didnt receive any advice on what else to prepare for my new pet. I was charged $300 for a very basic morph python of about a year old. Thankfully he seems healthy and the employee (Dave) gave me advice on how to feed him properly. Im just so surprised at the price and the fact that I wasnt given any advice on clutter/decorations/environment upgrades for my pet. The importance of humidity/temperature wasnt gone over at all. Im used to owning a bearded dragon, not a python.Just a word of advice, do your research. If I had done the smart thing and researched online rather than expecting helpful information from a store that breeds/sells animals, I probably wouldnt have gone here.
Mark and Rachel are just flat out fantastic! Seriously the nicest shop Ive ever been to. I cant recommend enough. The animals and enclosures are the healthiest and cleanest around. Staff is very knowledgeable and always willing to assist. Everything you need for your reptiles and birds.
Was a really nice store ALL KINDS OF AWESOME ANIMALS AND EVERYTHING THEY COULD NEED... staff was nice and the girl at the register was cool/helpful and she knew what she was doing with animals.. go get a π or other exotic pet..or something they need.. or go meet the little black and white dog who walks around the store... so cute
Definitely taking my bird back to be groomed. Very nice people and very informative. Birds and animals there are beautiful. Highly recommend
Brought this little guy home yesterday! The staff is very kind and knowledgeable! They answered all of my questions and even taught me some new things! They personally hand-raise their birds. They will show you documentation for any bird you ask about. Hatch date and baby pictures are a definite plus! They even gave me a framed baby picture of Thatcher! Very happy with this place! Would strongly recommend and WILL definitely return for more! They also offer grooming for birds and they also bird sit!
Eclectic place. Birds, reptiles, insects. Supplies for the care there of. I think boarding(ask, not sure). Knicknacks.
I dont care if youre looking for a bird, a snake, a tarantula, a heckin alligator, I bet they have it, and if they dont Im almost willing to bet theyll go out with a net and capture what you want.Seriously great people, who helped steer me in the right direction, and I now have a little Spangled English Budgie.
Love this shop. The staff is knowledgeable and takes such good care of my bird. Recommend to everyone
Friendly and knowledgeable customer service. The shop is clean with a nice atmosphere. Several tropical birds on site to admire. I need to and must go back there so that I may take my time to see all that is offered at The Enclosure! π
Ive gotten crickets from all over, but wont buy them anywhere else anymore. Also, its always a good time in here. Honestly, sometimes I stop in just to say hi to the birds.
Do not go here! I went in excited to have our ~30 year old rescue bird groomed since it was closer compared to our birds vet all the way in Butler. I specifically wanted his nails and beak only slightly trimmed -no bathing or cloacal inspection- since they were not LVTs and they still charged full priced grooming which we were okay. But the middle aged woman- who I believe is the manager/owner- insulted us with R rated language and spoke to us in an angry tone because she insisted she wanted to pluck the birds feathers. She also claimed to have looked up his cloacal vent..........I was in shock and wanted to get out and not upset the angry karen-esque manager. It is unprofessional to swear at your customers and refer to their animals with R rated language in an angry tone. The young girl working the register was polite. But the entire setup of the shop was very unethical for the reptiles and birds. The humidity levels were off for the reptiles, many snakes were in such small enclosures that their fecal matter had dried up and smeared across the poor things due to lack of space. They had a variety of parrots breeds on display (not for sale) that were not given fresh food and were on an all seed/dry food diet (which is an amateur mistake). It was a mess. There was a small doggo employee hanging out, and that is why I will give a star because he was working hard hanging around.
So many different species of snakes, lizards and birds plus all the necessary habitat needs ...very knowledgeable staff!!
This is my go to place for picking up feeders for my babies. The staff is always friendly and informative.
You want that amazing lizard or beautiful snake, or a special bird for life, they have a great selection. And supplies.
What a special pet shop! I have been to many stores over the years. This store is spotless. Phenomenal selection of well cared for animals. Rachel was fantastic! She took her time and explained in detail the care of the bird I bought. You can tell the staff like working here and really care. Highly recommend!
EDIT: PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. My fist visit to this place was awesome! The second time.. not so much. The woman with short black hair, who I believe may be the owner, is the most rude human being on the entire planet. Have you ever heard of making your customers feel welcome? When you walk in, it feels like you arent even supposed to be there cause no one says hi! The place is overpriced by about $5 per item if not more. The ONLY reason Ill be coming here is to hang out with the awesome birds! Jeff is the only member of the staff thats even worthy of talking too... -Oh & @Thomas Shirley - You shouldnt have bought it in the first place if you cant even spell TORTOISE
So many cool animals, better than the zoo!!
This place is very clean and very organized. The people who work here are always so friendly and helpful of you have any questions. We have bought a Rat Snake and Frog here, which one of the gentleman were so helpful on tips to properly take care of the snake. We always get frozen mice and crickets for our animals here because I have noticed if I do not get my crickets here and get them somewhere else I get less then what I get here.
I bought a enchi ball python baby in the beginning of the year 2021, she has been a great pet so far I just love her, sheβs getting big now and she was a great price to, overall the enclosure is a great place to buy from they take good care of their animals and have great prices
I went with my son to purchase our first bearded dragon. Basically everything they sold us was massively overpriced and after joining some bearded dragon groups I have come to learn most items were not appropriate for the pet. They also told me the dragon would eat 8-12 crickets a day which is a gross underestimate as baby dragons should have 20-30per feeding 2-3x a day!!! Also their customer service is the pits. No one waits on you unless you want life food, and even then it could take upwards of 15min before you get to talk to someone...Itβs a cool place to go look around, but buyer beware!
Very nice place with lots of different exotic animals...highly recommend!
Got my son a snake for his b-day. Very helpful and prices were much better than expected
If youβre thinking about going to a big box pet store, I beg you to turn your car around and head to the enclosure. The animals here are cared for properly, and the staff is seriously passionate about them! They will set you up with everything you need, and they wonβt send you home with an animal that youβre not capable of having or ready to care for. Also, their crickets manage to live way longer than any crickets Iβve purchased at the big stores. My PetCo crickets will die in a couple of days, even with proper housing and nutrition. My enclosure crickets last for weeks to the point where Iβm almost disappointed because thereβs no mass of dead crickets to go into my garden soil!Thereβs a really great younger gentleman here, taller with stretched lobes, who is always so so friendly. The owners, (I think thatβs who they are), are really cool people. You can tell that they love what they do.
I adopted a baby leopard gecko from here around New Years and he is now the most lovable, adventurous, and sassy gecko ever. He chills on my shoulders while Iβm doing school and I love it.The employees helped me out so much to get the finishing touches of his tank and I was all set! Though as a whole he was not a cheap birthday present, I donβt regret a thing about it as I firmly believe a gecko from a chain pet store wouldnβt nearly be as healthy and flamboyant as my Henry :) β€οΈ I plan to get my first bird from here once I move out as well π
We live in Johnstown, and out of all the stores ranging from Altoona, Johnstown, ebensburg, Indiana, the enclosure is BY FAR, the cleanest and best pet store out there. We bought a Cinnamon Pinstripe Ball Python from them, and are very satisfied. Itβs honestly worth the 1 hour drive, and would make it again and again. They facility is super clean, animals are in clean enclosures, and plump. 10/10 would recommend to anyone
Love this place. Rachel is so helpful.
I go there for my insects and mice good place
What an impressive, unassuming pet store. Honestly, Iβve never been in a pet store with such an epic variety of beautiful exotic pets that was so orderly and clean. The amount of animals in the store is staggering. It has an insane selection of reptiles, insects/arachnids, and birds. Iβve seen zoos that were far less interesting than this place.
This place is awesome. The owners and the staff are really friendly and SUPER helpful. They really know their stuff when it comes to exotic pets!
Great experience! Very clean and all animals were lively and appeared healthy. Staff were knowledgeable and answered my many questions.
The people who work here are very helpful and knowledgeable. The store itself is amazing to just walk through. Their prices for crickets and mice are the best around. I will always keep my business with them for my reptiles.
They have an amazing collection of snakes, birds, and reptiles. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I purchased a yearling California King snake and they set up a habitat for him at the store. I call them if I have any questions and theyβre happy to help. They sell feeder mice and crickets as well as all the supplies and accessories you need for your cold-blooded pet.ππ·π¦π¦π’
Horrible place, sick animals, none for sake, wont let you carefully touch them...AVOID this abusive place like crazy. Workers uniformed and rude to customers, including kids. AVOID!
Love the atmosphere and the staff was great.
Great selection helpful staff
We went and was able to sit with the cockatiels to find the one that was the right fit for us. We went there to get only one but went home with 2. And we couldnt be happier with our little buddies. The staff was super friendly, answered all our questions and let us take our time.*update* Just over a month and a half of having our birds at home and we found out that one of them is a female. At the store we was told that she was a 2yr old male that had been recently retired from being a breeding male. Also from what the band on her leg says, she is 5yrs old. Not 2.
Just had alot to look at and enjoy. They also have a wide varieties of pet supplies
After many great experiences with the staff we decided on a pair of snakes who came home to us with a RI, mites, and scale rot. I feel very conflicted, the staff seemed to care about the animals. Even the vet we went to had great experiences with reptiles from here and was very surprised at the condition of the snakes. After less then a month one of the snakes didnt make it, which was devastating. Maybe a one off issue but left a bad taste.
The woman that runs the place very knowledgeable of everything in the place
Beautiful birds. I purchased my macaw from them and take him back every 3 months for grooming. Have everything you need to take care of you feathered kids
Great place. Mark, Rachel and company are a wealth of knowledge! if your a reptile fan this is where to go no doubt about it. they will find you what you want and teach you what you need to know to succeed.
Best selection of snakes and always have my feeders
I love going to this store. We go to get mice for our ball pythons but my kids love to look and talk to their exotic birds. They have a pretty big variety of different animals. Also a lot of supplies for reptiles and birds. Everything is also pretty decently priced.
Nice people, helpful,clean
I love this place i like going here and looking at the different snakes and this is where i buy my adult mice for my snake. The staff is always nice and helpful.
Very cool place. A little steep on prices.
Incredible animals and such a knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend getting your Exotics and their supplies here.
I luv this place so many unique animals, birds, ect. Ive been going often for many years for supplies and pets.
I came in to pick up a few things for my ball python. I found what I needed and more. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff! Thanks, great experience!
Greatest place with so much diversity in species
Awesome place.
The nicest cleanest shop I have ever been to I would recommend to anyone
Nice people and always cool stuff to look at
Lots of critters and they all are in clean cages and seem well taken care of. Prices are kinda high but you are getting a healthy animal and that it worth the extra. Staff is polite and professional.
Professional kind service. Great place.
Absolutely the best place! Very knowledgeable, professional with a sense of humor, and very clean environment. My family and I are so happy with our conure who was obviously handled a lot by caring and loving staff. You have any questions about parrots, this is your go-to place. Thank you, Rachel! You really know your stuff!
Amazing owner, great communication leading up to getting our Lutino cockatiel! Very informative, has everything you would need and more but the owner is not pushy when it comes to sales. The store is extremely clean and well organized! Loving our hand raised little cockatiel!
Check up and grooming always good service
Grey customer service. Very informative.
Met a clerk you gave us advice and finally got my ball python to eat. Knowledge staff that will help educate. Great place to stop and shop. Feeder rodent at great prices.
I am looking for a pet snake and the employee I had spoken to was very easy to communicate with. He knew everything about the snakes and answered every question I had.
Definitely the best pet store that I have ever been in, especially because I love reptiles. I would definitely recommend!
This place has been around ever since I was little. I go once a year to take a look at some of the wild and wonderful pets that they have. Birds, snakes, spiders and frogs they also had a cat that lived in the store but Im not sure if they still have it or not. I think it was an exotic cat. I love this place!
My mother and I have bought two Birds from here and the owners are such wonderful people and are very helpful and know what they are doing. Will always shop here for our pet needs.
They all are very nice and all so very knowledgeable and very help. My kiddos love it. Many selections of animals reptiles of many kinds. All kinds of food alive, canned and frozen. I HATE tarantulas well let me say ALL spiders. I know they are thereBut Ill say I feel comfortable going there. Even though my kids always tease and torture meHaha Haha Haha . Not funny to me. LOL go check it out. Thank you Enclosure for all your help. And see you all next week.
The animals seemed well cared for, they have a large selection of reptiles, but we were looking at birds, and we were roped off away from them, standing in a corner. The personnel seemed tired and disinterested.
I love the enclosure. Weve been going there for years. Good people very knowledgeable helpful and willing to answer questions and help with your reptile and bird. a big surplus of food and supplies to feed and take care of your animal....
I have been going there for years. They are great kind people. I would recommend them to a friend.
Went there to check out decor for my daughters snake habitat. (shes getting a ball python this weekend) Met Dave. What an amazing guy! So patient and knowledgeable! He took the time to answer all of our questions and show us what works and what doesnt in a snake setup. My daughter has done her research but still had some questions regarding care and such. We left there (with a fair amount of supplies) feeling much better about what we are getting into! Highly recommend!
This place is clean and the animals dont have that sad, bored-to-death look. They were healthy and pert. Beautiful parrots, love birds, and cockatiels. I wasnt too interested in the reptiles but they were also clean. None of that typical pet store smell.
Very polite and knowledgeable staff. Everything looked super clean and well taken care of. Great selection of pet birds that I have not seen anywhere else. Highly recommend and was well worth the hour drive! Thank you for our new Hahns macaw!!
I was happy to see all of the exotic birds and snakes! Great atmosphere as there are some dinosaur statues. However, I dont have confidence in purchasing birds here due to the price and how things work there.
Really cool!
If you are looking for a commercial pet store experience, go to the mall. These people are amazing and knowledgeable about all sorts of exotic creatures. Clean establishment, well organized, and the creatures here are well kept. You will need to be cautious, sometimes they have interesting animals on the loose here, such as baby emus or a tortoise, dont let these out on the way in.The Enclosure is a good place for grooming and care of exotics, carries live and frozen foods for a variety of creatures.Make sure to leave yourself with enough time to look around, and realize this is not a fast food for animals stop, the staff is attentive to every customers needs, and this sometimes takes time.I have heard rumors that they have refused sale or service to some people, they will not sell to people that they feel are not responsible and will not be a good fit for the creatures they carry. This is a good thing, they care about the animals.A word of warning, be respectful and careful, they do carry venomous creatures which are kept very safely in the back section of the place. If you do bring children with you, make sure to keep them under your control at all times here. They do have signs posted, make sure to follow them.Saturdays are interesting, is their primary feeding day, make sure to stay out of the way and be patient.
Cool place have alot of diffrent reptiles and alot of.Parrots
So I bought a green check counre from here and the first day we bought it he died. So the employee also said donβt give them pineapples and in the food there was pineapple. So first he threw up and then he was struggling and we left him alone because we thought he was scared and then we checked back on him and he was dead.
I visited this store just to look around at the reptiles. The staff was very good about asking if we needed help. Very nice variety of different birds/reptiles. Definitely would reccomend!!
We have bought 3 snakes here!! Excellent staff, excellent store!!
Great place to go!!! Drove 2 hours in looking for a sun conure and left with a new friend based on a great experience. Their staff is awesome to talk to and super friendly from the owner to the staff. Beautiful animals that are well taken care of in clean cages. Hands down best pet place Iβve ever stepped foot into.
Rachel helped us so much the other day. The owner is honest and knowledgeable. I would certainly recommend going to The Enclosure. Everyone treated us and our tortoise as if we were part of the family.
Cool place. The birds were awesome to look at. They have some nice reptiles. I love their blue tegu pair. Hopefully they breed. Loads of snakes. Overall a fun place to visit if you are looking for reptiles or big birds.
The Enclosure is a one of a kind place that is sure to excite you more and more each visit. The store is always clean as can be, considering the fact they house hundreds of animals and breed feeder mice/crickets on the premises. Every animal looks healthy, and cared for. I got my first snake from them recently and Rachel was more than happy to drop what she was doing and come be of assistance. I could drive 5 minutes away to get feeder mice however the extra 25 minutes is well worth the trip to The Enclosure, its the same few dedicated people every-time you walk in the door, its much more rewarding to know you support a business like this than a chain pet store. Anyone who has not made time to stop in here needs too, because you will not regret it!
The Enclosure is an incredible store. Mark and Rachel have a wealth of knowledge and are willing to share it. Their animals are all healthy, in very clean cages and well loved. They arent afraid to tell you that a paticular animal wont work with your lifestyle. The care of the animals always comes first, even if it means losing a sale. I am usually not a fan of pet stores but The Enclosure and Mark & Rachel have earned my respect and a lifelong customer. Visit them, listen to what they have to say and you wont be disappointed!
Sad, degrading - abused and taken advantage of. I didnt want to have to write a review like this, but simply have no choice. Writing this review is difficult, because I am very sick. Their site had no email address nor a proprietor/manager accessible to perhaps address this issue in a less negative way. Easter Sunday, I lost my older bearded dragon, Tyrese. It was a terrible day with the craziness of the world, working in a hospital and being shut-off from loved ones. I have no partner, nor human- children dependents. My companion animals are very special to me. Two days later, I began to search for a beardie to fill the void. This time, I decided to buy a duo. Petco and PetSmart, and other pet stores normally offered these babies from $60-$100. The pricier beardies, at these places, were referred to as fancy bearded dragons - displaying more dramatic markings. I figured that I would be spending between $120-$200. This was an extravagance, but something that I felt I needed and deserved. Then, I hit multiple roadblocks. All pets stores, were basically completely sold out of beardies. I was determined. I am fairly local, and The Enclosure seemed a nice shop with exotic creatures and knowledgeable staff. Their store hours clashed with my work schedule. Still, I called and left a voicemail. I felt defeated, and returned to alternate tasks on my phone and computer. Quickly, I got a phone call from a friendly woman, who shared my enthusiasm for buying baby beardies, and boasted about the super fancies that they were selling. They had no cheaper beardies, the only types that I had known prior. Their fancies had red and orange striping, were store bred/raised, ( healthy?) and beautiful. I didnt disguise my almost fanaticism for getting bearded dragon babies, and reported that finding them anywhere was almost impossible. This wasnt a shrewd business move. Yet, the woman, who I dealt with was already informed of the shortage. Thus, I was on my way to this store, expecting to spend upwards of $400 for 2 - 3 inch baby bearded dragons. I wanted them and accepted the cost. The lady and a subordinate were very excited about the sale, and great salespeople - well versed in suggestive-selling. Admittedly, the store, staff and creatures were impressive. After much boasting, and fairly righteous pride for their VERY FANCY beardies, and a lot of confusing detail about the colorings degrees and fanciness that dictated extremely high prices, I left the store with 2 orange striped baby beardies, and a new $551.05 charge on my credit card. Discussions of death, returns or exchanges, never occurred. It was far from my mind. The lady was still trying sell me more unneeded equipment, etc. as I was ready to depart. I was very happy with my purchase, and took them home to a safe, clean habitat, complete with heat, dryness and appropriate lighting. At home, I noticed on the invoice attached to the credit card receipt, that it was clearly written: no refunds or exchanges. I disregarded it, as these two marvelous, wildly-expensive, baby lizards were wonderful, and flawless. I named them Tyrena and Dandlito. Within a day or two, Tyrena thrived, but Dandlito was showing signs of distress. A couple of days later, mucous appeared, indicating respiratory infection. There was no way out. I was home sick, guarding, studying, attempting a solution. No reptile vet could inject this tiny, sickly creature with Baytril. His only chance was his own immune response. I went back to The Enclosure within a week. I spoke to a busy young man, as he cleaned glass, and attended other duties, and assured me that this little guy would pull through. No treatments, options, helpful products to buy, or further exchange of information occurred. Dandlito died 2 days later. If I am to blame, why do I have a healthy beardie of the 2 that I purchased? Why cant they cut me a break, and give me a new baby dragon? In short, I had 9 mostly bad days with a dying baby beardie, who cost $275. To put it another way, Tyrena cost $551.00.
Truly an amazing place! Not your average petland! They deal in exotic animals only, ( I think ) They have a king cobra, and an Anaconda! Where can you see one of those in these parts?! Beautiful, exotic birds, reptiles etc! If you seek exotic, look no further than this place!!!!
Great place to go for all your reptilian needs.
As a former veterinary manager and long time herpetoculturalist, I give them high marks on animal care, knowlege and also appropriate inventory for exotics such as avian and reptilian species. Great store that cares about their customers and their animals. 5 stars!
Really nice and helpful. I get crickets and worm food here!
