My wife and I were married in Autumn of 2009. One of our wedding gifts was this down comforter from my wifes Aunt. It was a decent comforter, it was pretty fluffy and fairly comfortable. Cost like $200. We used it right away since we didnt have any other bedding material. After about a month, it randomly popped a seam. Ordinarily we wouldnt have cared except every time we moved the blanket thereafter it would blow a bunch of tiny feathers into the air. So instead of vacuuming our bedroom every morning like we were living in a human Aviary, we rolled up the blanket and stored it away and bough a cheap new comforter from some random store. It was ugly and uncomfortable but we didnt care as long as we didnt wake up in the morning thinking either we were molting or that a bird had exploded in the middle of our bedroom. My wifes Aunt had given us the packing order for the comforter with a hand written note on it that said Keep this for a Lifetime Guarantee. We tried to look into this Lifetime Guarantee online but found no info on it. My wife called Customer Service but never got through, instead she waited on Hold listening to commercials for a half hour. So we decided to hold off on returning the comforter for now and instead just rested assured that eventually we would return the comforter since our satisfaction was guaranteed for a lifetime .... FAST FORWARD EIGHT YEARS... Were still alive, happily married, living in a different house and now have 2 beautiful daughters. We now need a new comforter for our oldest daughters bed and we still have this old one safely squirreled away WITH the packing order enclosed. My wife thinks its about time we make good on that Lifetime Guarantee we were promised 8 years ago. My wife calls customer service and finally gets through to a representative. She informs the lady that shed like some info on how the Lifetime Guarantee works. She was given a half-hearted explanation about how wed have to send them the comforter at our expense so they could inspect it and then decided whether or not they should have to replace it before sending it back to us at our expense once again before telling the woman that we have a Comforter that popped a seam. The lady immediately says Oh no no no no no no... that would not be covered... My wife asked, ok.... then what would be covered? and the lady replies, Umm..... like if the comforter was... like.... umm.... lumpy?... My wife was surprised that evidently they dont guarantee the quality of their stitching but rather only stick to their convictions with regard to the consistency of their feather lumps. My wife said Umm.... ok... The Customer Service lady replied Well, how long have you had it? My wife said Eight Years (without adding the important detail that it was unusable after the first month). The ladys guttural reaction sounded almost disgusted when my wife said weve had the comforter for eight years and then launched right back into the sequences of no no no no no, that would not be covered. . My wife replied.... so.... there isnt really a lifetime guarantee then? The lady said Ummmmmmmm....... and then stayed silent for about 10 seconds, so my wife just hung up the phone, having heard all she needed to hear. My wife informed me that we could now finally, officially throw away the comforter after storing it for just about 3000 consecutive days... My review of this company is as follows.Product Quality: 6/10Customer Service: 2/10Lifetime Guarantee: 10/10 with regard to lumpiness, 0/10 for everything else.
Im a single guy who went in looking to buy a couple of down comforters for his bed. The two women working that evening were very knowledgeable and most helpful. They explained the warmth factors of each and kept me from making a huge mistake. See, I told them that I wanted the warmest one they had (typical guy thing). They gently steered me to the model they said was most frequently purchased by people living in my area. They were right. Even the ones I purchased can be a little hot at times. Thank you, ladies.
Great customer service! Great products!
