This place was so great when I went 5 years ago with some crazy ceramic pieces. Thus time around, I took my time and saw every piece of creativity. This time they had a showcase of a lot od Don Reitz and the stories that drove them. It was fun getting to decipher each piece on display.

Founded in 2003, this museum in nearby Pomona showcases the technology, creation, history, and art of ceramics through studio programs, outreaches, collections and exhibits. Not only does it feature permanent displays, but the museum also has fascinating rotating exhibits. So, don’t forget to check out the dates. For families with younger kids, little ones might enjoy activities that teach them about art and clay. You can also buy some ceramic items and learn how to create artworks.

Had no idea how much Id enjoy it. Although the museum is rather small, I loved the exhibits so much that I definitely would love to return. Id encourage anyone to check it out at least once. I fell in love with some of the pieces on display. The teapots were amazing!

One of my favorite museums where I could see only ceramic pieces. There is quite a variation of pieces displayed considering the fact that this place isnt that big. I saw a collection of high school students work here which was awesome! I was amazed by all the work these students presented. Its so inspiring! Great museum! ❤❤

Well worth the drive to view their beautiful collection of ceramics. They lack for space, but dont lack for their utilization of it. Every wall has something to be admired or criticized. Stopped in when their PST exhibit on Kukuli Velarde was up, and had a chance to see their We The People and Mettlach exhibitions.Would love to visit again and see in particular their Mesoamerican ceramics. It was complimented well by the Kukulia Velarde exhibition, and I hope in the future they continue to highlight Mesoamerican ceramics and their affects on the works of contemporary artists.Their Mettlach exhibition is unfortunately squeezed into a hallway on the lower floor, but shouldnt be missed. Their main display, on American ceramics and politically-relevant current events show that this institution is not afraid to delve into politically charged areas of analysis. If you are into Millard Sheets, a beautiful mural extends across one whole wall. It is impossible to take a single picture of the whole piece. Definitely check this out if you are into California regional art.

Very well worth the drive to Pomona, what a gem of a museum and studio dedicated to ceramic arts. The Mata Ortiz exhibit is fantastic, definitely made me appreciate traditional firing.

Very interesting museum with several pieces from a master potter. Intricate designs with unique patterns. Beautiful showroom with bright glass cases. A potters studio is also on premises where several students learn from master potters. They also have a gift shop where you can buy some if the students work which are beautiful. The prices are also reasonable. Go give em a visit.

Well curated, ever changing, world class pottery exhibits (functional to sculptural). Wonderful gift shop with a wide range of pottery and a fantastic book selection. A good, small lecture hall with frequent guest artist talks. Phenomenal workshop space (wearhouse size, with so many kilns) where they teach classes, offer studio space, do workshops and more.

Not many museums cater to ceramic artists, so for that I laud AMOCA, but I couldnt help but want more. The renovated bank which hosts AMOCA is clean and surprisingly modern, showing how much the curators care for the place. That being said, I thought only two of the exhibits were particularity strong and only one gave any context to the art within. Also, the entire time the silence and echoing empty quality made me feel a bit uneasy. I cant say specifically why but I felt like some background noise would have curbed the off putting feeling I got from wandering the sparse halls.

AMOCA is not only a wonderful museum, but also a studio where established artists create beautiful pieces and people who are interested in learning ceramics can take classes. There are many different classes and workshops held in the studio; including hand building and wheel throwing classes and workshops such as making your own brushes.

Ive loved this museum all my life. Brought my 2 kids & 3 nephews here several times & now I get to bring both of my Grandkids here too. Little kids are always in awe & I still am too. I highly recommend this museum to everyone to pay this museum a visit or 20! Just pack a lunch cuz the prices at the food court here are ridiculous.

This is a really fun, intimate museum. They are currently working on having a permanent collection; however, in the main gallery are revolving works featuring some of the best ceramic artists, such as Elaine Katzer, Betty Davenport Ford and Chris Gustin (to name just a few!). You can also see works from the old masters such as Peter Voulkos and Paul Soldner. Attached to the museum is a wonderful studio where you can see ceramic artists working. The studio also offers a variety of classes.
