They took me in at peak season and got me back on the water. I was kept up to date on any changes and the staff was very helpful. I was referred to them by Black Diamond Electrical and they were dead on. Quality work when dead in the water isnt an option.

I’ve been taking my 180 Dauntless to Anchor Marine for 8 years now and couldn’t be happier. I started going to Anchor Marine because they are the only authorized Mercury repair shop on the Peninsula but I go back because I trust them and because of their customer service. Dallas is an extremely honest business man and Ryan is one of the best mechanics I have ever met. All of the work they have performed on my boat and trailer has been excellent, and I really appreciate the way they explain my options when something is broken and exactly what they did to fix it. I learn something new every time I visit them and I know a lot more about my boat and how to operate it thanks to them.
They came through in a pinch to get me up and rolling again. Knowledgeable mechanics and great customer service. I would recommend them to anyone.

I dropped off my classic Mercury 650 outboard in late May 2013 wanting my outboard tuned-up and serviced. Dallas from Anchor called and claimed my outboard needed a major overhaul. The cost would be $3000 with an additional $300 to sand blast and repaint the cases. I called around and received quotes from three classic OB restorers and four Mercury dealers that matched Anchors quote, so I approved the repair. I said I needed the OB finished by July 28. In late June, I called and was told the engine block was lost in the mail. I called A.M. in mid-July and was told the block had not been found. When I pushed the issue, the block mysteriously appeared in the mail within minutes. I drove to AM and inspected the engine block. It was filthy. It looked like it had been honed inside a dirt floored chicken coop instead of professionally bored and cleaned. After I returned from my vacation, I called and was told my engine was not finished because the exhaust baffle had been shipped six weeks ago, but lost in the mail and they had no idea when they could finish my OB. Last week (Aug 9, 2013) Anchor called and said the OB was finished and my bill was over $4000. I arranged to pay $3000 down and make payments for the balance. When I called to arranged pickup of the OB, the repair bill changed to $9280.76. They spray painted the cases with a rattle can.
I brought my 23ft Trophy to this facility because the motor knocked and backfired. They did a leak down test and informed me it had a bad valve. They initially indicated it would take three weeks to perform this assessment and to their credit they did that in a week. I authorized them to replace the head or repair it. The motor has 110 hours on it. At that point i was tempted to do it myself but my schedule was too busy so I gave them the go ahead. They pulled the head and sent it to a local machine shop. BTW a new head can be delivered overnight by Amazon for $400. That said I called back in two weeks and they indicated the head was back in the shop. I expected the boat to be done shortly but they then said they needed to order a head gasket set. Like why didnt you do that when you pulled the head? Ok well again that could be obtained at any local auto parts store or Amazon overnight but it took them a week. I called back in a week to see how things were going and they said they got the head gasket set but that they now needed to order some head bolts. Like we didnt know that when we pulled the head!!! So they ordered them from Mercruiser and that took another week. Fully 8 weeks later they get the head back on and called me to tell me we have a problem. The motor runs worse then when you brought it in and they decided that a piston rod was malfunctioning and that they would need to replace the engine. So the repair for the head was $2153.54. They then gave an estimate to replace the entire engine for ~$13000.00. A complete new long block delivered costs less then $2600. I paid them their $2153.54 and because of their incompetence would never go there again. They are either incompetent or they bait and switch to get a bigger job. This was the worst consumer experience of my lifetime. I strongly encourage anyone entertaining the use of their disservice to be wary. If I could give them less then one star I would. BE ADVISED!
