Somehow this shop seems to have 2 names, Bottoms Up Scuba and Fantasea Scuba. Either way the same instructor is here who so kindly took our money and in Indiana where he was operating another shop with the same name ( Bottoms Up Scuba Indy ). After we enrolled we never had luck getting anyone to return emails, calls, texts and even facebook messages to finish our water portion of class. We finally discovered they closed the Indy location and never had the decency to notify students and took off with our money.

A fantastic scuba shop and a very friendly, knowledgeable staff. They took their time with a couple of beginners and helped us find the right equipment. We will be back.

Just felt at ease talking to personnel. They didnt waste anytime directing me to the proper person to get me in and out. 100% satisfied with purchase. They repair things the right way.

Update.. got the tanks back and they were even completely full.. go somewhere else..So far, not that impressed. New to the area and this was the closest dive shop. Dropped nitrox tanks off and told the girl I needed for the weekend. Came in Saturday morning (4 days later) and they hadn’t been touched. They did give a couple of loaners for free to use so that saved them for now but pretty frustrating.

Mike Ellis is the best scuba instructor!! He was get at keeping me calm. I will now enjoy diving with my husband!

Best experience of the last couple years! My instructor was so understanding and made the accelerated course pass like a breeze. My parents got their diving cert. at this location over 10 years ago, and all I had to do was buy a few essentials- Namely, a nice mask- and the shop provides all you need at extremely competitive prices. I wouldnt hesitate in the slightest to recommend these instructors to anyone. Basically, if I can do it, trust me that anyone can with the right guidance- Fantasea scuba is that guidance, and being able to look back and say, Hey, I did that! is awesome not just for an individual, but a child whos shown interest in the hobby, or a hobby diver who wants to further themselves commercially or for their own gain!

First of all, its very disappointing that im reviewing fantasea scuba and not bottoms up when fantasea is no longer the name. Second, I wanted to get my son certified and I find it unusual that the training is inconsistent with our local diving environment. I emailed to ask about where the dives were and also had my husband call because I didnt understand why they were so set on going to a lake. My son would be diving in salt water and the Gulf of Mexico, NOT a lake. I myself dive in the Gulf A LOT and I realize it has more challenges than a lake but its more suitable for people who are learning, especially if they live here! Im not understanding the purpose of owning a dive shop if you are going to convince people that main body of water near us is unsafe. I chose to have my son certified by another shop that allows my son to learn in the environment that he will be diving. And to top it all off when my husband called he was told that they teach in a 6ft pool in someones back yard. My husband is over 6ft tall.... now how is that even gonna work?

Have not done any dives with them but can say they’re some of the most honest and respectful people in the industry. I lost a custom speargun on a wreck in the middle of nowhere and they happen to stumble upon it. Where most people would have just kept the gun, they went totally out of their way to do research, and find the maker of the gun so he could get it back in my hand. Class act, nothing but respect for these guys. Clean, organized shop with years of experience and knowledge. Don’t live in the area but would trust them with all my gear and fills no questions asked thanks again!

By far one of the best scuba shops ive been to. Jim and Julie were great with communication. Most of the time, before hand I was communicating with Julie to organize travel and dates of the courses I was attending and she was awesome, I always got an email back within 24 hours(I was communicating from overseas) and her emails always had all the info that I needed. Jims courses were excellent, the perfect combination of knowledge and entertainment. I definately came away from my time with Fantasea Scuba a better diver. Also, these people know how to eat good on dive trips! Sonnys is awesome!

I have been diving for over 25 years, and was fortunate enough to meet Jim Joseph (owner of Fantasea Scuba) a few years ago on a technical diving wreck trip. He was immediately helpful, very friendly, and coached me through the removal of a particularly stubborn porthole, then later invited me to do a wreck diving trip to the SS Baja California chartered by his store. Jim is now a regular resource for me to discuss wreck diving, gear, expeditions, and equipment. Although I have never officially trained under him, I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone looking to start SCUBA diving, or take advanced classes from (rebreather, mixed gas, etc). His dive shop is top notch, well organized, and stocked with items he has personally used and approves of, versus other stores that simply stock from a catalog. If you want an experienced instructor, and want to visit a real dive shop, or want to book a real wreck dive trip in Florida, look no further.

Pretty decent selection considering the amount of diving in the immediate vicinity. Staff seamed knowledgeable enough. Didnt find what I was looking for but probably more on me than the actual shop.
