There is one thing I must admit straightaway-to me, sewing in all of its permutations is a terrifying mystery. The staggering variety of products, tools, accessories sold to facilitate this activity is overwhelming.Put me in an art store (professional/high-end preferred; I was a television animaton artist/animation director for twelve years in my former life) and I feel right at home.So, we all have our things.I had never been in a sewing/notions/fabric store until yesterday. Not ever. I am 51 years old.I was doing the Saturday morning Westnedge crawl and noticed enough cars in the large parking lot JOANN shares with Big Lots to guess they are finally open for in-store shopping again.Yay!My quest was/is for no-sew/no iron solutions to fix minor issues on several dozen pairs of my jeans. (My one apparel weakness is high-end denim from 1999-2017ish, I have a huge collection built from scouring many secondhand online sources to find an treasure that retailed for $300-$600 but became mine for $15 bucks...in pristine condition.)Stellar jeans may be my jam, but paying the original retail couture prices is not. The quality of my pairs are bulletproof...but even the best stuff when well cared-for ends up needing maintenance.Back to the point of this review. I went into this store needing things to reinforce loosened button holes, replace some heavy-duty buttons and patch up minor rips/tears/fraying.The store is very clean. All the shelves are properly stocked, nothing tossed around.I had to find an employee to ask for what I need. (Not their fault. I have NO idea what I am looking for.) The friendly associate was totally honest and told me that what I needed would require sewing so it would be better to find a good alterations/repair shop. I appreciate kind, honest employees.I DID find an artists sketch pad I need to do a logo design that no big-box store has. When it was rung up, the price was $10.99-I thought it had been $6.99 on the shelf.I asked the associate about the difference, then decided not to quibble over four bucks. (Aya, the fantastic young sales associate offered to go across the store to check the shelf to confirm. I did not want to be *that* customer.)She said it was no trouble at all. She was out on the sales floor then back with superhuman speed. She said the price was $10.99, but since the pad had been stocked incorrectly with a lower priced one, she would be glad to do an override to honor the $6.99.This store is exceptional...honest, hardworking employees who truly care about the customer and will go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and valued.Thank you, Aya.You (almost) made me want to learn to sew.

Not very busy, but it was hard finding anyone to help me. Their yarn dept SUCKS. The store I frequent in FL has a better selection of yarn.

Poor customer service. Asked an employee for help, whose name tag said “Melissa”. She was very rude. Kept interrupting me while I was trying to explain what I was looking for and spoke to me like I didn’t know what I was talking about and that she had better things to do other than her job.

Was looking for a certain size and kind of button. Was able to find one that pretty much matched what I was looking for.

Good service, fair prices.

Solid amounts of stock and in person help is fantastic but... its to a point where online shopping blows them away on pricing. If you dont have a coupon dont bother.

I love that they are always having great sales. The small store atmosphere is great, and staff seems very knowledgeable. I love their rewards and their coupon deals, and it seems like their prices are always beating competition. Definitely recommend

They had all the supplies we needed and more to make our Halloween costumes. We also left with a few Christmas gifts for family.

The store seems cramped, and the fabric somewhat disheveled and disorganized. Made it a little difficult to find what I was looking for, so I asked for assistance. After looking up the item and knowing it existed, it wasn’t where it should have been. Was told another customer probably had it. Didn’t see anyone else with utility fabric in their cart, so...?Other than that incident, I’ve experienced great customer service every time. I wish they would expand a little because it feels really cramped at times.

Fairly big selection of fabrics, and they even had some high demand items like elastic in stock. Helpful staff asked a few different times of we found everything okay and needed help, and were happy to do a price check. Cashier grabbed my phone to read off a coupon number because the barcode wouldnt scan, which was unnecessary during a pandemic.

I love going to JoAnn fabric because they have such a great variety of fabric and notions. I love that the receipt always has a coupon for my next purchase. I needed a case for a new sewing machine and they were on sale! So I picked up a fall doormat and door wreath. I needed a new pair of scissors and they were also on sale. Unfortunately, they are locked up and the lady that I asked to help me was a little short tempered but the rest of the staff that I interacted with were great.

Its always either messy or nothing is stocked on shelves. They have it just in the shipping boxes in the middle of the isles. The only reason I keep going is because they have good coupons that you can stack on sales or they will take multiple to help you find the best one.

This is my favorite craft store on the Portage area. Its a typical Joann, but its clean. The employees are always nice and helpful.

It was one of my favorite JoAnn since it actually had a large fabric selection! I was impressed by what they had, but a lot of their merchandise was pretty dusty. Would shop there again.

Loved the tie dye fun stuff

This store waited over a month to charge my account! I ordered 95$ worth of fabric in on July 7, 2020. Now, August 11, 2020 the charge appears, and I get a notification from Joann saying Your order was picked up. So I call the store in confusion, since there is no 1800 customer service. If you have ever ordered from Joanns online, they allow you to order and hold your account for the entire price of fabric, even if the fabric you ordered is unavailable, they still hold your money for days. After they cancel your fabric that is held on your account and relinquish your funds you may end up with half the fabric you ordered! I had spent about 500$ with Joann on fabric in a few weeks period. After calling this morning, and asking why they would send me a picked up email and charge my account a month later, they said sorry our associate forgot to process your order. Sorry doesnt get it this time. Ive had great customer service at Fields Fabric. Never again Joann!

I have shipped at Joannes for years. They have great sales, I like bargains. I bought thread that was on sale, B3G2. I like 50% off better, but I needed thread. The sign said the price for small spools of Guiterman thread is $1.99, larger ones 3.99. come to find out thread prices have been raised, but not on the signs by the thread. Its $2.50 for small ones. Wasnt happy. Zippers are about $4.00 each. Way to much for zippers. My other complaint is there are no prices on Ott light boxes. Of course the boxes are all mixed up with a 50% off sale, but without looking at the teeny tine UPC numbers on the boxes, trying to see the regular price sticks on the shelves is not very friendly. Please make this clearer and change the price of thread to match the real price.

They sell all kinds of fabrics, crafts and more. This young lady is cutting the fabrics that we bought today. My son has a hard time looking for a neckerchief. We visited all kind of department stores and NO luck. I am a SMARTYPANTS because I came up with an idea and suggested to my son to visit Joann Fabrics bought 2 half yards of beautiful silk fabrics and took it to KCT for his CUSTOM MADE NECKERCHIEF. Dont always have what I need. Gingham seems to be not avaible and choices very. When something is out of stock I have to wait a whole month. So I just go some place else to get what I need. My projects cant wait a month.

I shop there frequently and it always seems like Fran has an attitude. The way she talks to customers and fellow employees is condescending, makes for an unfriendly environment. Its sad when a worker makes you want to avoid them. Other staff members are nice though and try to help a lot.

Waited in line at cutting counter with one item. I was the next person in line. No one mentioned I needed a number. The cutting person clearly saw me and said nothing. Several minutes later 2 other people came up with cart fulls and took numbers. I then took a number as well but had to wait a long time to get helped. Then I went up to the counter to pay and there was someone in line ahead of me. No problem, unfortunately there was no one there to ring us up. I did not have to wait too long. But I had already been in the store quite some time for 2 items. I then asked the manager if I could hold the items until I got out of work as I did not have time to wait any longer. She nicely did that, but made a comment that I didnt plan very well. I planned plenty of time. Quite clearly had someone told me I needed a number and if someone had been at the counter to ring I would have been out of there in less than 15-20 minutes. I was not upset until the comment had been made that I did not plan. Things happen and people are human but that pushed me over the top.

Great store for crafts. Can be very hard to find things other than fabric though as layout does not make sense. Usually has a coupon you can google and get 40% off one item.

Hidden from the main road, Westnedge, but there is a sign by the side of the road for it that will catch your eye. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. Good deals/sales/clearance items. Im signed up for text alerts so I get all the updates on current sales and coupons, which is nice. Store is typically well organized. Its in the same strip mall that Toys R Us was in (before it closed down) so Im curious what will move in next.

Great selection on fabrics and other arts & crafts items, friendly employees, clean store, convenient location. Take advantage of their sales and sign up for their JoAnn Smiles rewards program! In one trip I spent $21 and saved $22 with coupons and sales plus I received $5 reward to spend later.

They always have huge sales going on and even bigger savings with online coupons. The wife loves the selection of materials and supplys for her business.

It took us forever to find the ribbon, and there was no one around to ask where it was. By the time we got to the fabric counter, there was a line. We ended up leaving with nothing :(

Large selection of fabric but if your not signed up for the email coupons, the fabric is WAY overpriced! Employees are often rude and dont know where anything is in the store if your looking for a specific print of fabric. I also purchased a reusable bag and told the cashier to use it instead of a plastic bag that the cashier then put into a plastic bag with my fabrics instead of using it! When I reiterated that I wanted her to use the reusable bag instead, hence why I bought it she told me to fix it myself and told me Id have to move down to do it even tho there was no one behind me in line!! I was so mad I just left. The reusable bag also got a tear in it before I could even use it and was also overpriced!

Giving only 4 stars, because the store is a bit difficult to navigate through, whether you are pushing a shopping cart, stroller or in a wheelchair. They are simply trying to put too much merchandise on the sales floor. Making it too congested to freely shop. In most of their isles, 2 shopping carts cannot meet or pass. Personally, after having previously worked retail for many years, I would lay the store out much differently.

They do not honor competitors coupons as advertised. Max, the employee I spoke to was very rude and refused to help because they were closing in 15 minutes. He kept saying there was nothing he could do, but he didnt even ask management until I told him I needed to speak with them. Management told me to call corporate because the store was closing soon. After shopping at Joannes for over twenty years I will be taking my business to Michaels and hobby lobby only and Ill be advising my friends and family to do the same. So disappointed.

Always have great selection of fabrics

I went here with my wife expecting the most boring and tedious time spent in a store. (After all how tedious is fabric? Sorry Joann) But I was pleasantly surprised at everything they had to look at besides fabric and sewing items. So, while my wife was contemplating what beads and chains to buy for her jewelry-making, I passed the time looking at everything else they had to offer, wondering what the reaction would be if I put on the Michael Myers halloween mask and went around the store staring at people. ( I didnt.) All in all, time went quickly and I didnt have to whine to her too much. Plus with the sales she saved over $42.00!

Quick and easy in and out, friendly staff. Items were clearly marked. Many types of yarn and colors to choose from. I saw many fabric patterns but I was only there for yarn.

Its a smaller location with less selection but its clean and friendly staff.

Great selection of fabrics, sewing machines, arts and crafts, frames and so much more. They have recently re arrange everything and it looks nice and clean. The people are very helpful.

After going to several places that sell fabric, I finally found my perfect print at JoAnns AND it was on sale. They had other stuff on sale too, so I didnt buy just the fabric. I really like this place and if you go to their website and sign up to be on their mailing list, you can get emails telling of their sales ahead of time along with coupons for even more savings.

There are several associates that are wonderful, however, there are also quite a few bad apples. Upon checkout today, both the associates working at the cash registers were arguing with customers about the sale signage in the store. Even after being shown the signs within the store, BOTH associates refused to honor the sale prices. This store has a pretty serious problem with the ability to provide good customer service. When it was my turn to check out I figured there would be no way I would run into the same issue. I did. One of my items was clearly displayed in their current ad as being on sale and the associate refused to acknowledge the sale price. After clarifying that I would be charged regular price, I used a 40% off coupon and was able to get it for a better price, so it worked out in my favor, but its clear corporate needs to do some follow up with these procedures.

First time in. Crafting galore. Found a new heaven.

Unlike other Joanns to which Ive been, this location is consistently less helpful about asking for coupons and helping you find them. They also stopped offering a student discount (bad news for us college kids). This store is also quite crowded in layout and can be inefficient with checkout. However, the fabric selection is quite wide and varied, and the staff is usually friendly (especially the younger employees)

Really knowledgeable and friendly staff. I dont use a smartphone so I cant typically get online coupons, but the staff explained that they also offer a text based service that I could sign up for just as easily. The store is nicely organized and often has great sales.

They had superhero knits! I love their new additions to the knit fabric selections. The cutting counter had no wait either - always a plus.

The sale price of the fabric I wanted was more than I could afford. Very disappointed. Went to Hobby Lobby and found a perfect substitute for a fraction of the price.

Store is very orderly. Very expensive. The week before Thanksgiving and the Christmas ornaments are 60% off but for Regular price of $20 or higher when you could go to another store and buy a similar item for $3. (At Home, for example) I swear they used to be less expensive. If you need any craft supplies go to Hobby Lobby, Joanns sales are the regular price at other stores

I like it because they have hobby type things for me to look at while my wife does her material shopping found really great sales on Halloween decorations.
