I ran all over town looking for pomegranates but none were to be found. Finally, I called Smart & Final and they quickly checked their produce and verified they had some! I went right over and found a great variety and quality of produce. Great customer service as well. 🙂

Great people shopping there, people who work there are very nice, they dont know what they have in their store, but hard working.

Im not a regular at smart and final at all nor do I post reviews, in this case I had to. An associate named FELISHA was the best cashier Ive ever encountered. She is knowledgeable of the products in the store and directed me where I can find them. Im most definitely going back and doing more shopping there....... hopefully shes there.

One thing I wish they could change are the bags they have for the fruits and vegetables. They are good for small items but thats about it. Also, the Powerade drinks dont have prices and theres rarely ever any.

Saturday or Sunday mornings they got the longest lines Ive ever ran into. But thank goodness the guys that work in the produce section are absolutely awesome, skinny guy with the glasses is the best, hes always helpful, let us know when things are going to be in and restocked, the cashiers are always pleasant. But the line sometimes, sticks. Thank goodness for good customer service at this place. Keep up the good work

S&F still keeping its prices low inspite of how much things have gone up with your competitors. You can still find discounts if you look really hard and have lots of time to browse thru all of the aisles.

They say they close at 10pm & they locked the door at 9:35pm as I walked up to the door. I called & the lady said to drive back & shed open it. Whats the point on wasting my time to drive back when the employees dont want to even do their jobs by locking the doors early?!

My review here would be higher but my main issue is long line and not enough people at the registers. I know its for a reason to do these things but when the line reaches the back of the store, something should be done. All in all I like the store, I enjoy the bulk items and usually they are cheaper than some other stores. I wouldnt come here if youre on a schedule unless you dont mind the wait. Cashiers are really friendly and the store is always in stock

On several occasions I needed assistance, I am disabled. And the current manager Mr. Perez was very accommodating . Porterville Smart and Final should consider keeping Mr. Perez as their permanent manager. Dont get me wrong the prior managers were helpful but Mr. Perez has that something extra that sets him apart from the others. Porterville is very fortunate to have him managing this store. Thank you...

They have the best chicken and for only $5.99 also their brand of pork dumplings is very tasty

Least favorite visit to ANY Smart n Final Extra. The isles ate so crowded with display boxes that we cannot get thru when someone is looking for something on the shelf. The produce was messy and poor quality. The Checkout was FOREVER. Granted she was nice but some training need to get done to improve checkout flow. Poor girl was all over the place. Maybe she was new, so like i said- additional training needed...Person stocking meats and cheeses downing a energy drink but cant be bothere to respond when spoke to?! I go to Visalia SFE on Mooney....take walk through there.... Bring a Notepad with you for tips.

Always a great place to shop for groceries, even if youre not buying in bulk. They have a quality, fresh produce section, a good fresh meat section, and they have a better variety of frozen foods than other stores in town. Everything is very competitively priced. They do a good job of keeping their shelves stocked.

I like that theres not a line to get into the store now. Before when there was a line to just get into the store I heard it was close to an hour wait. I didnt feel like waiting so long so I hadnt been here in a while. At least now its much more convenient and bulking buying saves money in the long run.

The store is clean you cant smell the meat department at all unlike a lot of stores in town where they need to smell it hits you right when you walk in the front door are you smell it here its nothing its a clean safe friendly place to shop the produce is excellent the meat departments excellent it is probably the best grocery store in town cost a few more bugs just a couple more dollars but the quality you get there is uncomparable in town

I love Smart & Final. When i buy what i want and what i need I dont have to worry about running out right away. Sure their a little to a lot over priced on some things but you just have to make up your mind what you want to spend. Their sales are really great.

Smart and Final EXTRA in Porterville, is always a pleasure. Clean, friendly staffed, stock was being replenished regularly. FELISHA is the BEST cashier I have seen, hands down. Quick, Curtiouse, definitely a multitasker.

Went shopping and when its time for checkout, the cashiers are only taking cash and check, such a big inconvenience and waste of time.. not every one carry cash anymore, especially due to the coin shortage..

Great variety. 1st time shopping here so havent compared prices yet but really liked it. Totally love the covid precautions there.

Used to be my go to place but, As Smart & Final morphs into a regular grocery store ( Smart & Final extra ) theyre leaving behind what made them successful...wholesale type pricing, deals you couldnt get at any of the regular stores. Their prices are now as high or higher even, than Save Mart, the highest in town, I now only go there when they have an item on sale. I was there today for two things and was in line for 20 minutes as only 3 registers were open with 5 people in each line, plenty of employees stocking shelves why couldnt they divert and open some registers to help get the customers moving, come on Smart & Final thats Save Marts trick. No waiting at Town & Country, usually

Only place in town that has everyone wait for just a few registers opened and a line all the way to the back of the store not a place to go if in a hurry.

This is a new location with lots of parking. The store is bright and clean. Produce is exceptionally nice. Prices are good. There is a good selection of products. All in all its a really nice store.

Went to the new Smart and Final and the store is really nice. The cashiers are NOT VERY COURTEOUS.They seem angry or put out by being there. Been there 2 times already and I got the same service. I am sure someone else would like their job if they didnt want to be there.

This new store is clean, well stocked, employees are friendly and helpful . Produce is always very fresh . All though this last visit the young cashier did not have enough training on bagging my groceries . I was very disappointed, because I asked her specifically to not put all heavy items in one bag to distribute them evenly as I have difficulty lifting them . She smiled and nodded . When I went to my vehicle I noticed she put all heavy items in two bags one bag only had 2 light items . I wont be checking out with this cashier again .

This is a typical Smart and Final stoe with one big difference... The staff is particularly helpful and friendly. A good thing because it is the only S & F in Porterville.The store will be closing when the new one - a mere two blocks away - is completed. The new store promises to be a Smart and Final extra. It will be great to have access to the bulk items and other extra exclusives.The new store has been open for a while. It offers a limited selection of bulk items. Has the same friendly staff and an expanded produce section. Some of the product categories seem to be limited in scope. Not sure whether it is a corporate decision or the local orders, but several friends have noted it as well.

This store is just amazing!! They have lots of great deals and choices. I usally spend 208 dollars at walmart for the same items i get here and i only spend 116 to 130 dollars.

Great store but gave them a 4 because their chicken pieces are disgusting! I was cutting it up and ended up throwing away about the equivalent of half a breast away! Not sure who manufactures them but looks like some of the feather cavities were still intact. Was disappointing.

Great store with awsome specials. Just keep in mind that when buying sodas or beer that is on special you still have to pay CRV on top of the regular price of the product. On November 29th 2017 was the Grand Opening of the new Porterville Smart and Final Warehouse. The location is less then a mile from the old location. The new store is much larger then the old building an it has a larger parking area. The grand opening will run until the 5th of December 2017. The staff was abundant, courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. The store was huge, well stocked, had a large variety of items at very reasonable prices. The specific grand opening items were super low priced. I recommend The New Porterville Smart and Final to everyone and I will definitely be shopping here again and again.
